today was my first day of being the main character. i didn't give a flying f*ck about what my teachers thought about my black lipstick, i put on a skirt and nice thigh highs, although it's freezing cold and i danced without caring about what was running through the minds of the people who saw me in the street. i was a child again and balanced on the edge of the pavement...it was awesome, would recommend. doing this again tomorrow (^^)

As someone with pretty severe social anxiety, I don't really have friends, I don't leave the house, I really only hangout with my sister, i'm moving to a new state in a few months after I graduate HS. Watching this video, I feel like I can't do this but at the same time I know it's just my anxiety speaking. This was a good video for me and it gives me motivation but it kind of makes me sad and frustrated at the same time but I can push through it and have the life that I want.

Okay so I know moving sounds like it will be scary, but I noticed when I left my hometown and moved somewhere far and met new people I remembered that everyone was in the same boat as me and no one had anything to lose from gaining a new friend. Also anything that embarrassed me in hs I remembered no one knew about this in college and this new place. It’s harder said than done but I know that I am much more open now than ever before. I hope this helps and if you need a buddy/friend I will gladly be that for you :)
SAME. I just decided though that I am for now going to be the main character by having the spot light on me, and that I stand out. I’m the one who’s expressing their feelings, being bolder in clothes that rid my anxiety almost completely, and the main thing I use is music. Just to drain everyone out and be that one girl alone dancing in the rain. When people see that, they’ll be drawn to me, and social interactions will be initiated by them and I’ll get the confidence to speak when being elevated by them, soon be able to do it on my own. I hope that made some sense🤍
I kinda feel same too but one thing with my case is society pressure , parents pressure . They want to blend in I guess and it’s suckkkkk

To me, ”main character” feels kind of weird to say because it’s like a tiktok girls’ thing but I like the idea.

I love that you drop some real nuggets of wisdom here and that you go beyond the superficial ways to "become the main character" (ie. consuming STUFF for the sake of having STUFF). Yes, you mention clothes, hair, makeup, and accessories, but those are just sprinkles of joy and self-expression on top of more important advice like "Fall in love with where you live," and "The purpose of romanticizing your life is not to prove to everyone else that you have such a great life. It's to appreciate for yourself that you are having a great time," and "Get used to being by yourself," and "Appreciate every single second. Pretend that every single day is something super important," and "Do not waste time with things you cannot change, and do not waste [time] being sad about things and people who do not deserve it. It is so much more important to enjoy the moment..."
This is exactly what I’ve been trying to do to get over serious anxiety. To just try to believe in myself more because I hate myself

i’m the same and i used to have the same problem. i left that group, it wasn’t good for me, i look up for friends with my same energy and things in common. with these girls we were already friends, but now i’m part of their group and i’m happy now. i really recommend you that or at least talk with your current friends about how you are feeling, but if you feel like you can’t tell them stuffs like that, maybe the first option is the best.

Make it a game to give money to people and to restaurant servers or others. 10% for charities ministries or non profits and 5-10% for giving but in general just give what you want to who you want. I siggest people in food or retail that are amazingly patient. That is a gift for such work. Allot of people take them for granted.
