As someone who does RUclips videos, let me encourage everyone to do them. I do NOT do them to make money, I do them for my family. I grew up with a dad who had an 8mm video camera. The home movies were always a hit with the family. Now that my sister and my dad are no longer alive, I cherish these videos even more. It is a great way for families to enjoy seeing their loved ones any time they want. I have cousins who miss their family members that are on those old home movies too. Guess what, they are on RUclips!

I am a professional filmmaker and designer. I enjoy watching your videos because they are presented with honesty and simplistic way, and carry massage in toto. Good work. Keep it up.
First off I’m a consumer of RUclips videos and I want to say I personally don’t search for topics like you are suggesting! Second all the people that I subscribe to do their own recording, editing, thumbnails, talk overs and uploading! Third I’m a visual type I don’t give a hoot about fake looking thumbnails that are pre manufactured but are actually taken right from their videos, that is what actually draws me and my type in to watching a video. These are the things that make it real fo me and my viewing pleasure. Many voiceovers in the past year or two have been computer generated ie/ AI - Artificial Intelligence, I hate that with a passion that automatically gets a thumbs down / dislike and a really bad comment! The reason why is it puts voiceover people out of a job, it’s sounds fake words aren’t pronounced properly and deflections sound too mechanical! You are right recording, editing, thumbnails, voiceovers and uploading is extremely boring and time consuming but that is part of being a real RUclipsr in my opinion and I don’t expect it any other way! RUclips was created as a platform for the everyday Joe and Jill to post their videos and it’s people like you that want to make it as professional as possible but not on an everyday Joe or Jill’s budget!
This is by far the ABSOLUTE BEST video of it's kind!!! So clear and not overwhelming. I have been stalling for over a year, to start a channel. I hope to start this week.🙏🏾 Thank you for such a spectacular video!!! Have to subscribe!!🌟😎⭐⭐⭐

I just got started this year and it was Encouraging to see you be open What this subject to viewers, just for that you got my subscription and a like!
1-figure out what you’re interested in and what people are searching for then make videos that fall in the middle ground of both points 2-use fiverr to edit they’re great for many thing editing giving you ideas for your videos sound overlap help with thumbnail and many other things 3- thumbnail -it’s highly important to plan and edit your thumbnail it could decide your views because that’s what people see first before deciding whether to clic or not 4-start your channel don’t procrastinate or hesitate just go for it

THANK YOU!!!! I’ve been wanting to do a beauty RUclips channel for probably 10 years… And I’m always thinking I’m either too late… I don’t know how to do it… Or something like that! I do my own editing. That's perhaps why It never occurred to me that people would hire editors on Fiverr for their RUclips video. Now that you've mentioned it, it does seem like a very good option to explore to save time!

This video made me understand that I can even edit for someone else, and yes editing videos is TIME CONSUMING, specially if you transcript, translate and put the subtitles on in each of them.. but to be honest beyond being in front of the camera , I enjoy the whole process . I hope that one day I can live from it. Nice video, thank you.
thanks for the information Shelby, and the encouragement. You have some really great ideas for getting better videos made. It feels a little less intimidating now.
Omg that’s genius! I’ve used Fiverr often for years, and usually it’s okay but sometimes I’ve been irritated by the minimal time we both have to communicate, because of time zone differences. Never looked at it this way, where I’m actually saving time because they’re working while I’m sleeping!

I feel like editing my own videos gave me more of an idea on what I wanted to do in the future than if I didn’t start of doing it. Obviously still figuring it out but it’s so much fun seeing the growth in not only how comfortable you get in front of a camera but also the editing as well. Great video! ☺️♥️
Yes! I learn new things about editing every day and I still enjoy it.
Agree!
Totally! Reviewing your footage and editing it makes you realize what you want to fix, change, do, etc.
Cool concept of hiring Fiverr talent to help produce your video! And thanks for choosing me for your voice over!
Nice voice, Bob!

Yes, "what you are genuinely interested in" - this is the anchor for making videos. You've refreshed people's mindset with this video. Thanks, Shelby!
🙏👏👏👏👏
I haven’t been on RUclips long, but editing was something I couldn’t edit to save my life! Really happy 😊 how it’s worked out!
Worked out as in you can edit now or that you farm the editing work out somewhere?

Sooo.. I'm back watching Shelby again. This time I didn't realise (until 7 minutes in) that I watched this video before I made my first video. Now I've over 200 videos and growing slowly. And I'm in a different place now, so the video takes on new meaning and I'm learning again. The main thing for me is the Venn diagram. Keep reminding myself of the two things.
Have a wonderful day everyone ❤️ Jamie
Roger that! Keep going 👍
am i the only RUclipsr who still edits my own videos
No you have to be a massive youtuber to afford an editor. I have one channel that sometimes pays to edit her videos.
You’re so not! We happily edit by ourselves until we’re able to outsource it😂😁
I just spent a tremendous amount of time learning to edit my first video 😅 It was tough but I actually enjoy it!
@@IsiomaOjeme exactly! :))

What I can say is,
If they can do, you can do it too.
Even they have money to support their channel not like us, we start from scratch and the money tight but we still fighting and figuring out how to improve our RUclips channel.
So glad I found a full time over night job it’s super slow. I edit on Thursdays and just bring my laptop and edit at work! I love it

This video was extremely helpful. Technique, experience, strategy, and technical advice are very helpful, but most helpful for me is your modesty. Delegating production to others is a tough concept to grasp, but makes a lot of sense. Thank you!
The search box in a incognito window is such a good tip. Thank you!!

It's hard to appreciate videos until you become a youtuber You realise that every subscriber counts and every like is a reason to celebrate 🍾
Thank you for you insightful video. I just got started this year and it was Encouraging to see you be open What this subject to viewers, just for that you got my subscription and a like!
1-figure out what you’re interested in and what people are searching for then make videos that fall in the middle ground of both points
2-use fiverr to edit they’re great for many thing editing giving you ideas for your videos sound overlap help with thumbnail and many other things
3- thumbnail -it’s highly important to plan and edit your thumbnail it could decide your views because that’s what people see first before deciding whether to clic or not
4-start your channel don’t procrastinate or hesitate just go for it
Thank you for sharing the sauce and not keeping it a secret. Love videos like this and people like you who don't have a belief that "if I help you then you will do better than me" because there's enough money to go around, more than enough for everyone to eat.
Starting a channel has been on my mind for the longest of time but getting subscribers seem to be the challenge. The time is now. Thanks for the tips💪🏾

Shelby I really, really appreciate your how-to You tube videos. I'm a life long tech person ... so I know my way around in that area, but understanding the details of monetizing on line is not as well "put together" as it should be. f I would to start again on YT, I just wouldn't waste months to get recognized by couple hundred people. When I discovered I could trigger organic growth after getting first 1k subs using some online tools (i.e. fame ster) my life just got easier and my main channel exploded. People are just looking at the numbers when searching for some content. If you have low subs no one cares about you even if you have best content on platform.

Omg that’s genius! I’ve used Fiverr often for years, and usually it’s okay but sometimes I’ve been irritated by the minimal time we both have to communicate, because of time zone differences. Never looked at it this way, where I’m actually saving time because they’re working while I’m sleeping!
