- In this video, we explore a practical upgrade for vehicles: a dash cam equipped with wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto. This particular model is installed on a BMW E90, which was originally manufactured without CCC or CIC navigation.
The Seicane dash cam is an accessible solution to incorporate modern technology into older vehicles, and the included reverse camera adds extra utility. This device is universal, suitable for any car with a relatively flat dash. Our demonstration takes place on an E90, but the installation process and benefits apply to a wide variety of vehicles.

So glad I found this video thinking about getting this for my single hump m3 but mounting it right above the vents and hardwiring

Not a fan of how it looks on the dashboard, but for $100, functionality-wse it might be what I need - assuming it's stable (i.e. does not freeze or crash)
Yeah didn't have a ton of time with it but it seems stable while using it.
yea this seems to be a pretty good carplay retrofit, but I would much rather have it attach to the windshield

For sure but as these cars get older and are worth less I imagine having options like this would help people hold onto them for a little longer.

Looks ok after the wire is routed. BTW have you seen some vids from H2 motors covering the BMW b series engines? They’re in German but some vids have subtitles. Some interesting info if you got the time to watch.
Yeah my nephew isn't took particular and was a little pressed for time when he came but yeah with some more time the wiring could be concealed a little better.
I hate screens in cars
Just as a note. The hardwire harness, which is called the 3A Buck harness, is not standard equipment. It is optional and costs a few dollars extra. Same with GPS antenna. IT may have been sent to you in a review unit, but the unit to purchase doesn't come with it.
Other than that, great video and quite detailed. I have recently bought one of these myself, just waiting for it to arrive :)

Is mirroring/casting with CarPlay a possibility?
Curious on how responsive display is how often he crashes on Apple CarPlay, etc.
They make a trim piece to repair your aux connector in the center console so it won't fall down anymore.
I got this trim piece a few years ago. It totally fixed the problem.
You can mount it on the vent upper edge against dash. Looks much better and much easier to touch. Also surprised me, sound quality from fm transmitter is much better than from aux cable due to poor aux driver inside the unit. Sounds no difference from original bluetooth, at least for me. Also you can use original bluetooth on car, and benefit from steering wheel buttons, screen and sound are syn, but only works for Carplay. Android auto is not working with original bluetooth, but fm transmitter is good enough.

Do you think it would run MHD? Not to flash but for live monitoring. I’ve seen it work updated head units.

I would like to see that company make the design of that unit without the camera or sell one without and have a MagBack to it, you you could mount it lower on the dash or center console with an opposing magnet, that way you get all the benefits of CarPlay and it’s not on the dash or line of sight. 👍

Apple Carplay looks a bit laggy imo, but still not bad for 100. I had a Eonon headunit in my e90 which was also non iDrive but I wanted a oem Bluetooth alternative so I retrofitted CIC and an entire iDrive dash into my car. Now just waiting on my combox to arrive so I can fully complete the retrofit!
Yeah what would have been relevant to mention is the phone is an iphone 12. Part of that might have been the phone, not sure. It was a little laggy while scrolling screens but when you would select an app or close an app it was pretty instantaneous. My 440i had wireless Apple CarPlay from the factory and it was similar. The G20 has it and it's super snappy on my 14 pro max. Nice! Sounds like a big job but well worth it for an OEM experience.
Are you doing the coding yourself? I wanted to upgrade to the cic myself but can't code for the newer unit. I have the cable but don't know what to do to make it work, currently have the CCC

Hey, I wanted to install it through my Fusebox but dont know which fuse to put it into. Do you have any suggestions on which fuse I should put it in? I got a E90 2010.

Good solution. As the alpine amp and dac in the stock unit has a fantastic sound. And putting a cheep chinese unit replacing these components. Will give you modern features. But sound like crap in comparison. This one will have the best of both worlds.

Yeah as crude as some people find the installation for $100 and how easy it is it seems proportional.

Yeah the newer head units have built in wireless car play support.

It came with it, looks to be a 3m style adhesive.

Dude hell no 😂😂 I went to BimmerDirect and bought the little kit where you cut the dash instead. Ended up being pretty sweet overall. This looks bad

I mean it doesn't look sleek but given it's price and the average retail on the cars it would be installed on I think it would suit the people that use their car as a work horse daily still vs most of us OEM+ guys. But I hear you lol 😂
