First - AutoMotivate, thank you for your video - For those considering purchasing this unit - I've purchased one of these Seicane Dashcam/Apple Carplay units, and have installed it in my car. I would say, I have very mixed feelings. After the initial few days of playing with the unit, powering it from the cigarette lighter power, I opted to hardwire it using the provided 3A power adapter. Pretty straight forward install, and I KNOW I've installed it correctly. So here is my feedback: 1. The units feels solid to touch and the display has a good appearance and feel. I like the IDEA of this product, but it has several flaws! 1. even if you mount it sold, it still shakes while you're driving. I fixed this shaking by building a simple block on my 3D printer and stuffing it between the display and the mount from the back (so you don't see it from the front). 2. Audio pass through quality sucks! I've connected my iPhone wirelessly to the Seicane unit, and from there, there is a cable going from Seicane to my car stereo through the Aux input. Comparing the pass through quality to simple direct bluetooth connectivity to my car stereo, I would say Seicane quality is awful. I am willing to tolerate 1 and 2, but then there is 3. Every time I turn off my car, and turn it back on again, I have to do a hard power down on the Seicane unit (holding the power button at the top of the unit for a few seconds), then power up the unit!!! To me, this is the deal breaker! This brings me to 4. AWFUL tech support!!! I've reached out to Seicane, and they have responded quickly (within 24 hours), BUT the quality of support is really really really BAD! After a few emails going back and forth, they came back with requiring me to do a firmware upgrade. I have no problem with this, BUT the documentation they have provided and the video makes you laugh and cry at the same time! First of all, everything is in Chinese (at least all the important stuff). They have also provided an .mp4 video to download, which is supposed to help! The video is absolute utter rubbish! I am really disappointed with Seicane!
I really appreciate your input and this comment was my last straw. I am removing the links and adding a follow up video in a few days to talk about these issues. The Audio pass through has been complained too many times for me to continue to recommend this unit. I thought the my cars audio was just older and not performing well, but I was wrong. I will, however, try to use a higher quality Aux and see if that fixes that issue. Never the less, Thank you for the comment.

I've used this for 6 months now on my 2007 Toyota Camry. You are 100% right, for the money, it is insane value and the dash cam quality is actually pretty damn good if you have the 4K model like I have (some sellers also sell a 1440p model).
I mean, you can't really beat it! For the security it gives you and the modern tech for only $100.
Hmm definitely don't need 4k. 1080 should show everything I need in detail, assuming its a high qual 1080 of course.

Nice video and device. But why there are flashing lines when you turn to the front camera?
The flashing lines are due to my garage lights! It is very common for LED Lights to give that effect to cameras do the FPS.
I have one of these but there is a problem, every time i turn car off i lose time date and other settings... very anoying

I think it is, but the sun doesn't beam directly on it, in my case.
There is definitely glare. Depending on how much light hits the unit, you may need to adjust to brightest setting.
its great while it works, unfortunately mine only works randomly after a couple of months
I have a 2019 Ram and the Bluetooth connection takes forever AND you have to hit a physical button on the factory screen to change from radio to Bluetooth input every time the truck starts. Does using AUX solve that issue? In other words, would the stock stereo instantly switch to aux instead of radio without any user input?

Just got one. Is the FM audio supposed to be of atrocious AM quality, or did I get a bad unit? I have a cheapo audio-only BT-FM transmitter that sounds pretty good, so I know it's not my setup.
It seems like there are a lot of complaints with the Audio so I deleted the link to the unit and I will create a follow up video addressing this issue. I am pretty disappointed.

Hi, are there any better quality units that give you Apple CarPlay like this where you can just stick it on your dashboard or something, and plug it into the aux or USB or even Bluetooth of your existing car stereo? I have a Ford with Bluetooth and aux and USB, I can control the phone side on my iPhone alright to make and receive calls hands free but it doesn’t have CarPlay and the audio integration is rubbish.
I am actually talking to a company right now about reviewing theirs that seem to be a bit higher quality with similar mounting configurations! All these units will come with carplay/android auto. You do not need to use them to use their bluetooth function!

Hi, I bought the same model and unfortunately, the sound quality is horrible, even when plugged in with the aux connector. The other features are great but without proper sound, it's useless.
Same for me :/ Everyone else seems happy with theirs, maybe we got bad units?

I just bought one for my Honda Odyssey. The car doesn’t have aux. And I’ve trying to make the audio play through my speakers through the FM transmitter. But it’s not working!! What do I do??
It should be working! Set the station on the headunit, try to make sure it is an “empty station” then change your radio station

You had mentioned on a different review with a different unit that it didn't automatically turn off when you turned off the car. Does this one automatically turn off when you turn off the car?
It does in my Mercedes. My van probably has the incorrect fuse inserted into the 12v power, which is why it doesn’t turn off automatically
Just bought one of these and I have it in my Ford transit custom. It doesn't shut down either when turning the ignition off, it's connected to the 12v socket. Is there a workaround for this or do I have to unplug everytime? Thank you

I do not think the software and its rear view camera capabilities would be a replacement for the rear view mirror.
I have another video where I installed a wolfbox rear view camera/mirror replacement and that would be suitable.
Although it does for a good job, it takes so getting used to.

Can you tell me how much hiss you hear in the AUX line? I have a crappier unit and it has way too much hiss in the audio. With the unit not playing anything and the radio at normal volume (if something were playing) it's like a soft white noise coming from all my speakers. Also - can you hear any engine / alternator noise through the AUX line? A typical problem with some of these is too little shielding and isolation on the audio outputs.
Thanks for this review because I'm really considering the Seicane.
I got one of these and the audio noise is absolutely terrible. Sounds crap.

Have you tried adding a ground loop isolater for 3.5 mm? That usually helps get rid of unwanted noise

I thought mine sounded comparable to how my audio was before, but you are not the first comment saying this. The audio for my 300D was not the best from the beginning, so I did not notice a difference. Ill look into it and see if I can find a solution
Is the quality the same if you use the FM selection? If it is not then I would recommend finding another AUX cord you could try.
@@AutoMotivate yeah its the same quality, I tried every method, aux, fm tramsmitter mode and still doesn't sound good. currently Im using my phone as where the audio releases so that I can connect it to my player. I hope you can also find a solution for this.
also I tried turning off microphone recorder in dash cam, but still the same outcome.

@@twice8091 I think I found the answer in another video. Apparently the answer is yes. If the wire to the reverse light is connected, it can detect when reverse is selected.

I ordered one a few days ago and I also live in the UK. The shipping time says 7-13 business days but I did get the cheaper shipping cause I don't need it immediately so if you do need it sooner there is that option if you're willing to pay extra
The adhesive WILL ruin the pristine vinyl dash of a classic that will cost a couple of grand to replace
