WrestleMania 29 match should've been a triple threat match. Everyone wins, Punk main events WrestleMania, Cena gets win over both the guys he couldn't beat. Plus, some feuds are better having just one match between them in one on one matches, which would've still been "Once in a lifetime" had it only had happened at WrestleMania 28. Maybe Undertaker faces Y2J, or Sheamus, or Orton again, who he hadn't had a pay per view match since Armageddon 2005?
I still think H & Cody worked The Rock. & I think that answer he gave in this video is a worked shoot. Cody won & pointed at Roman, something he was reportedly told not to do. Also, when he handed over the match to The Rock on Smackdown he wasn’t smiling, he looked genuinely upset. Fans latched onto that. Cody’s reaction being edited out of the segment on RUclips only added to backlash. The Rock came in & tried to derail a story Triple H had been booking for 2 years, & effectively kill Cody’s momentum. I’m sure Triple H took it as personal as Cody did & they both responded in their own ways. It was brilliant on their part
Can't have the same BS repeating itself where a part-timer steals a main event spot from the company's top babyface/heel. Pebbles acting more like Hogan at this stage of his life. Seems like he can't accept the fact that people are hating him for being a hollyweird/globalist shill.
The fact that they even toyed with the idea and were for all tense n purposes going with it is really bewildering to wrap my head around. All it tells me is that the rock and his people were really out of touch with the wrestling community and the product itself but that is understandable since he's been away for so long. I guess he truly underestimated the connection that Cody made with fans during this entire path of reinvention outside the wwe
It’s funny that Cody was thinking about Punk because the same thing happened to him a decade ago. 😂😂 Glad this time it was different and the fans and Cody won.
Even if you're not the biggest Cody fan, the swerve felt like a rip-off because the guy who wins the Rumble headlines Mania. That's the deal, those are the rules, and part of the appeal of wrestling is it's storytelling built around a structure of specific rules. Making it Rock vs. Roman was telling us not to get excited about the Royal Rumble next time.
remember how in wrestlemania 2006 when Rey Mysterior didnt even main event Wrestlemania for winning the rumble and getting his WHC championship shot, but Triple H and John Cena did? hell he didn't even make it to the Semi Main, a sexist playboy pillow fight did imagine being THE next guy to be the face of the company, but you don't get to main event Mania cause Dwayne said 'Ima steal the main event as a part timer for the third time'
According to the documentary, Paul said that it's a test to see whether the audience want to see Cody versus Roman or The Rock vs Roman in WM40 from the crowd reaction.
We still don't know the answer to why did they have cody win the rumble if rock vs roman was the plan, why not have rock win the rumble or if he couldn't make it cm punk wins it. Things worked out better but this still bugs me
Still begs the question. If they knew Rock vs Roman was gonna be the plan, why on earth did Cody win the Rumble if he wasn't gonna wrestle Roman? That part still doesn't make any sense.
Why give Cody the Rumble Win if the plan was to put Rock vs Roman??? Make no sens to give Cody the win? CM Punk should have won and challenge Seth... (and forfeit due to injury after)
Does the documentary explain why he called out Roman at the Rumble? Was he just going into business for himself, making WWE reckon with the fan interest?
I bet if Vince was still in charge, he wouldn't have changed a damn thing and went with a forced Rock vs Roman match despite all the backlash and we would've gotten a watered down wm 40 instead of the epicness we actually saw at wm 40.
Dude cried to get this opportunity and his title reign has been nothing but boring since then. I feel like he got the title out of sympathy and not hard work . Bring Roman back
The decision to have him win the rumble but not face Roman is a weird one. Before punk got injured he was due to face Seth so what was Cody gonna do ? Make it a triple threat ? Surely they should have made punk win the rumble is he was gonna face Seth? Just strange to have someone win the rumble but then not have any creative for them
They knew Rock made a terrible call yet they somehow allowed Rock to take all the credit for WM 40 in the documentary 😂 The man's ego is untouchable. It's also funny how CM Punk was supposed to win the Rumble but they audibled once he got injured and now they're trying to lie and change the story. Why would Cody point to Roman if he knew he wasn't gonna face him at WM? They were just stacking excuses and lies in the documentary.

To a degree, yes. He definitely kayfabed stuff and even alluded to the fact that opening the curtain too far takes away from the product
I bought tickets just to see him finish the story
Michael Jordan and Bret Hart would take this personally.
'something he was reportedly not asked to do' something you made up, more like.
Glad this time it was different and the fans and Cody won.
Having the Rock face Roman and win wouldve been the dumbest decision in the last two decades.
Vince McMahon move
I think this is kayfabe. Pretty sure when he signed, he had a clause saying he was only signing if he headlines WM.
Even if that's true, he had already headlined 39
Even if you're not the biggest Cody fan, the swerve felt like a rip-off because the guy who wins the Rumble headlines Mania. That's the deal, those are the rules, and part of the appeal of wrestling is it's storytelling built around a structure of specific rules.
Making it Rock vs. Roman was telling us not to get excited about the Royal Rumble next time.
remember how in wrestlemania 2006 when Rey Mysterior didnt even main event Wrestlemania for winning the rumble and getting his WHC championship shot, but Triple H and John Cena did?
hell he didn't even make it to the Semi Main, a sexist playboy pillow fight did
imagine being THE next guy to be the face of the company, but you don't get to main event Mania cause Dwayne said 'Ima steal the main event as a part timer for the third time'
whats even funnier is that rey mysterio win was like 10 minutes and he was booked so badly afterwards
I guess whatever you do in life, rich or poor you will always have to go to work and put on a mask. Respect, Cody!!! 💪🔥
After Cody won the Rumble and POINTED to Roman
the thumbnail has a very "I got a Glock in my 'Rari" Vibe , ngl .
Great video
If i were Cody i for sure would take it personal.
Why did he point to Roman if he knew he wasn't gonna face him at Mania ?
"that doesn't work for me brother"
not to let the fans know i guess
According to the documentary, Paul said that it's a test to see whether the audience want to see Cody versus Roman or The Rock vs Roman in WM40 from the crowd reaction.
@@lalala9337 oh yeah I forgot that part. I pretty sure Triple H knew all along that Cody v Roman is the match and just tried to play around Rocks ego
@@lalala9337 part of me wonders if heyman and HHH both wanted cody and they knew the fans would help make that happen.
There’s no way this wasn’t a work. Cody was never actually going to be replaced for the main event
I completely agree, I find it baffling why so many people seem to think otherwise lol.
After watching this clip, I believe there’s some truth behind when Rock says “Cody Crybabies”
Greatest politician wrestler ever, Mr. Ghody Rhodes
Bring Roman back
WM40 went from having the ptoential to be the worst wrestlemania because of the injuries and screw up but ended up becoming the best one lol
The decision to have him win the rumble but not face Roman is a weird one. Before punk got injured he was due to face Seth so what was Cody gonna do ? Make it a triple threat ? Surely they should have made punk win the rumble is he was gonna face Seth? Just strange to have someone win the rumble but then not have any creative for them
So when was he told that he was gonna win the title?
They knew Rock made a terrible call yet they somehow allowed Rock to take all the credit for WM 40 in the documentary 😂 The man's ego is untouchable. It's also funny how CM Punk was supposed to win the Rumble but they audibled once he got injured and now they're trying to lie and change the story. Why would Cody point to Roman if he knew he wasn't gonna face him at WM? They were just stacking excuses and lies in the documentary.
his ego is nothing compared to HHH, VINCE , HULK HOGAN shawn michaels And the rest of those racist twats
in the WWE organization. so lets not play that game. you guys hated on the rock back in 2003 when he was trying to leave
so its no surprise you hate him. plus the fact theres few black champions and the ones that are have to JOB isnt a good look you know.
I knew Dwayne is an egotistical twat, but geez I actually lost respect for him during that. Had the nerve to do it again thinking the fans would just accept it. Rock vs Roman could've happened at literally any other time considering they both rarely ever show up anymore
Should have happened way before but dwaaayne put his movies career first and thought he could come backk and be the main event whenever he wanted…the balls of that guy 😂😂glad the fans pushed back..also in the idc he took credit changing back 😂😂
the rock is an angel compared to the racist evil things HHH VINCE SHAWN MICHAELS BENIOT and the rest
of the organization did. but anyway i hope you enjoy cody reign im sure hes gonna surpass the rock LOL
I can't wait for the heel turn though.😏
Without the fan's and Cm Punk getting injured, Cody Rhodes wouldn't have been in wrestleMania.
He would but just not in the main event
@@fatmoefatmoe2645No he would've been left off the card completely. The plan was for him to get injured in an angle which would've written him off TV.
It's been confirmed by multiple outlets that Cody was going over regardless of Punk's tricep injury
@@reiji3546 damn I didn’t know that that would have been awful booking 🤣🤦🏾♂️
I'm glad for what we got instead, and everyone involved ended looking better for it by pivoting. But the original version was a horrible idea. Why have him win at all if that was the plan? They could have had Rock come in at 30, give some heel a Rock Bottom throw them over and gotten exactly what they wanted without making Cody look like a joke, it still wouldn't be better than the version that happened but anything is better than the original idea.
They should have never allowed him to win the rumble.. if they wanted Roman vs The Rock
I'm confused on what this video is totally about
That is freakin crap crap man come on now Cody Rhodes you did it damb it your are freakin champion ❤❤❤
What doc?
I dont get why he feels so entitled. He isn't the best. Hes good and deserves to be champion but he's on the same level as McIntyre and Priest for me. And ive said this from day one so dont come at me saying fans are fickle cause ive never changed my opinion on the dude. Just dont see him as the megastar that he thinks he is.
He was the most over baby face in the company his merch sales speak for themselves and that’s all that matters
@DannyCosmos merch sales don't explain why he feels entitled to be the face of the company. Going by that logic that would mean Jey Uso and LA Knight should be treated just as big as Cody. So, no that's not all that matters at all.
@@thecharmeleonaire idk the giant whoa every time he comes out..the fact he was trending for 3 days straight world wide on twitter to be the main event of mania over the rock who is the biggest star in the world.. .. I was at mania … all the surprises rock even undertaker,,,.. the biggest pop of the night was when Cody won the title… the stadium shook… he’s super over and the face of the company. Deal.
And your opinion is a fact???!
@tgarriivmea if you can read, I started the post with "I don't get it" key word being "I" did I say everyone has to agree? No. I can voice my opinion just like everyone else can. Don't be a bitch cause you can't handle a difference of opinion.
What happened?
C'mon Man.
He came back from AEW and got one wrestlemania main event and want another one back to back and was upset for not getting it? Who is he?
Let me guess. He cried all day
Pepole Still believing it’s wasn’t a work😂
LOOLL Midcard Cody
I don’t feel bad for Cody at all
I will never not believe that it wasn't a spot
Should of never beat Roman
Cody is a total carny. Can't believe half of the things he says
No views in 47 Seconds wow Chris had fallen off
😐
Man, WWE should've kept it Rock vs. Roman. "Oh boo-hoo. My dad got screwed, so I want the belt. 😭😭😭." What a pathetic loser. The only way I would've accepted it was if he turned heel instantly and said he was "playing the crowd/manipulating their feelings the whole time."
Cody is not face of the company material. He's shouldn't have been the guy to dethrone Roman. He's barely a world champion contender. The man is nowhere near the level of Cena, Hogan, or Austin in promo skill, and is only better than one, maybe two, of them in the ring.
Take less than all 3 of their promo skills, somewhere around Cena in ring ability, and between Cena and Austin levels of "good guy magnitude." And that's only BABY FACE FACE OF THE COMPANIES. If we're talking everyone in WWE TODAY, then guys like Sami, Ko, Gunther, hell, even Bron Breaker outclass him in every category except his "public image." And guess what, all of them (minus Sami) also built more like a face of the company than Cody too
Tribal chief Roman reigns
Cody's the new bret hart. Wines and complains about not being at the top until he gets his way and is a total mark for himself 😂
What a whinger
Cody Rhodes is absolute mid
y'all just hate everything
I never liked him either
@@MoojinBoi No just stating facts he's mid
If he was mid how come he has the highest selling merch in WWE. If he was mid how come #wewantcody was Trending For 3 days straight. If he was Mid why would People Legitimately Cry When he won the At WrestleMania. If he was Mid how come He's Constantly Cheered and is the most over Babyface in WWE.
@@devilmaycry3566 Relax. I just think he's mid. Other people disagree. And thats ok
See look at this crybaby his title reign is boring n I don’t like his crybaby fans
😐
They all cry. Stone Cold cried and went home. HBK cried and lost his smile. Bret Hart cried and got screwed. Hogan always cried. They did it with political backstage ways. You think the guys before him were legit tough guys but the reality everything back then was just a mystery due to the world without cell phones and internet/podcasts etc.
All because of Hulk Hogan i mean The Rock
