  • Trangia Mini set 289 is an ultralight weight camping set (Weight 185 g). Trangia Mini T28 comes with spirit burner and windshield. I had my trangia triangle so I didn't need another windshield and burner with the set. Trangia's cooking sets are usually quite big and heavy but this is an exception. That's why this set is a great companion for the solo hiker!
    Trangia mini package includes:
    • Saucepan 0.8 L
    • Lid/frypan Ø150 mm
    • Handle
    I bought the product because it was made in Finland's neighboring country, Sweden. It is also a durable and reliable product that will be with me on my trips for many years!

    Cool! I didn’t know they sell it without the burner and stand. But makes perfect sense, as this is a really good set. I use my mini pot and pan on any burner I have, ie gas canister stove, Triangle with gas, spirit or Esbit tabs, twig stove etc.

    In the 80's my wife and I used a mini Trangia on half day rides, stopping mid morning for elevenses, or when marshalling on a 24 hour time trial after midnight in the middle of the fens. Whilst the water was boiling to make tea or coffee a couple of croissants or pain au chocolat would warm on the lid above the water. We had the larger Trangia for camping, but the mini was great to have a warm drink in the middle of nowhere,

      Thanks for sharing! I use Mini when traveling alone and Trangia 25-3 when hiking with my family and friends.

    Man, you can’t call this a trangia mini video and then not use the whole trangia mini kit! Lol good video, thanks for the video

      Yes you can. The description of the video is about the Trangia Mini Lightweight which comes without the windshield and the burner so you're free to use the cook set with any other stove, from the triangle to the Bushbox. He made no mistake.

    Your suppose to keep the thick round plastic to protect the non stick

    • @reliikki
      @reliikki  Год назад +1

      You are right. The plastic sheet is intended for use during storage. I use a piece of cloth for this purpose so I don't need the plastic sheet.

    Why not pour the water into the cardboard container and save yourself the washing up?
    You would also be left with a clean bowl to boil water for tea or coffee, just a thought.
    Also using the burner & stand (supplied with the 'mini') with a lightweight windshield would preclude the need for the extra weight & expense of the Trangia Triangle... 🤔

    • @reliikki
      @reliikki  Год назад +1

      To be honest, I did it just to give Trangia mini some extra screen time. I also wanted you to be able to see the food and not just the ugly cup. I also don't talk in my videos, so I wanted you can hear cooking sounds.
      I bought Mini 289 set. Trangia Mini T28 comes with spirit burner and windshield. I had my trangia Triangle so I didn't need another windshield and burner with the set.
      With Triangle, you can use gas and spirit burner. It also have more support area than mini burner. I also like that it has more height than the mini. Then the pot or pan is further away from the burner. I've also used a Trangia pan stand to increase the support area. It's possible with Triangle.
      It doesn't add too much weight to my gear and I really like it. I think there are many good reasons to use it :)

    Couple of questions does the trangia triangle fit inside the Trangia mini? I’m assuming no since you have it on the outside, but thought I would ask just in case.. Also, do the pot supports on the triangle lineup with the ridge on the bottom of the Tangia mini? Are they it the same diameter? Thanks for posting though. - great video!

    • @reliikki
      @reliikki  Год назад +1

      Unfortunately the triangle doesn't fit inside the mini. If I remember right the supports are different diameter but you can still use it. If you need more support area for bigger pots you can use Trangia pan stand with the triangle.
      Thank you for the comment!

      Thanks! I actually made a video about it but never published it. There is a lot of snow here now, so cycling is a bit tricky. I'll make a video about it in the future! The bike is Kona Rove ST 2022. I have also bought Ortlieb bags so I can make longer trips with it.

    OK, plastic pollution is a concern, as you say. So what about trying to prepare your own noodle meal and dehydrate it, instead of using an industrial product? 🙂

    • @reliikki
      @reliikki  Год назад

      Hi, good question. This meal was bought a long time ago as an emergency backup for my home for example for long power outages. It was already out of date, so I decided to eat it. My child like these pasta meals. I took the plastic package with me and recycled it into new products in my workshop. You can see the products here: www.reliikki.com/tuotteet

      @@reliikki With HDPE, it works fine. All the best.

    • @reliikki
      @reliikki  Год назад

      In Finland, almost every product in store for example vegetables, noodles, etc. are packed in plastic packaging. So if I buy vegetables and noodles, I end up with a lot of plastic that I can't recycle in my workshop. Plastic bags are not suitable for it.
      In Finland, plastic has its own recycling system, but in this process plastic waste is burned.
      So you have to think about these things quite extensively.

    • @merlinch4256
      @merlinch4256 Год назад +1

      @@reliikki Quite the same here in Switzerland ☹
      I tried to prepare cooked meals, then to dehydrate them. This requires sort of a package, too, but it is possible to make it smaller. Another good option is canning, but it is heavy (for hiking) and requires energy for the canning process. Nothing is perfect 😉

      @@merlinch4256 I switched to fresh produce. There are a lot of tasty one pot meals that can be cooked quickly. Noodles cook fairly quickly in the sauce. On the plus side it creates no additional waste.
