    Hand sanitizer Purell is a great fuel to use for your trangia. It mimics Sterno fuel. No soot at all. It will leave a little bit of residue inside the burner. Besides that, it's great to cook with! The fuel you are using in this video is great for emergency lighting, but not for cooking regarding the soot.

      Thanks. I was in California as a side trip whilst visiting family in Texas, finding something I could grab quick and use proved a little tricky. I’d use it again if I couldn’t find anything else but it sure did create a lot of soot!

      Thanks for checking out my video. TBH that beach was a real lucky find! And the rice is certainly worth cooking again 😋

    Love this! I probably would have cooked either the pepper first or with the onion. My experience cooking peppers is they usually need a longer cooking time than my onions do. Either way, great content and meal on your stove! Your dirty rice looked delicious! Good to know that adding the spice with bacon probably made it too salty, I’ll keep that in mind if making similar. I subscribed to see what else you’ll cook and where you’ll cook it!

      Timings is always difficult. Especially out in the wilderness. Yeah, that spice mix would have made a great rub but given the option I do prefer individual herbs and spices. Coming across that beach was a real lucky find during a side trip from visiting family in Texas. Most of my videos so far are in the woods in the UK using a Kelly Kettle (great bit of kit!). Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoy my other videos too. Cheers. Neil

    🎥😊👍, somehow I missed watching this when it came out😯. I had been travelling around India for a month & not looking at YT while I was away. Definitely looks like one of those beaches where you expect to find sea lions 🦭!! Great backdrop for your video👍

      It was a beautiful beach! I did actually see three sea otters just round the corner from there which was pretty cool! India for a month sounds like quite an adventure, I bet that was awesome

      @@parkitpitchitmoorit wild sea otters, like the wild UK otters, are a bucket-list sighting for most people 😊, India was pretty awesome, temples, forts, the food and the wildlife. Even in New Delhi, there are green parrots, hornbills and large raptors (kites) literally everywhere surrounding the parks.

    My mouth-watering! By the way, what kind of fuel do you use, could you recommend one? how about 75%

    • @parkitpitchitmoorit
      @parkitpitchitmoorit  Год назад +2

      Hi. Thanks for checking out my video. On this occasion I used isopropyl alcohol 91% from Walmart. It worked ok but it does produce soot on the pan. In the UK I use mentholated spirits which burns at a cool temperature with no soot.

      Thank you. I had a great time exploring the coastline, you’re very lucky! I’ll be back one day to visit the Sequoia Park and Forest. That was my plan this trip but the bad weather just prior to my arrival closed the road through flood damage. Sounds like you guys were hit pretty hard with storms!

      @abingtonmg Год назад +1

      @@parkitpitchitmoorit yeah. It been one storm after another, causing flooding in certain parts of the state, but after three years of a drought. The state was in desperate need of some water, so the reservoir are now mostly full.
      California is nice place, albeit with a population problem. From what I seen from your videos and others, U.K is really nice. I hope to visit one day.

    What fuel do you use that has that orange of a flame and soot?

    • @parkitpitchitmoorit

      Hi. Thanks for checking out my video. The fuel I used was isopropyl alcohol, 91% from Walmart. It was all I could get my hands on at the time. It did the job but I wouldn’t recommend it. In the UK I used metholated spirt, I believe the US equivalent would be denatured alcohol

    • @Saltfly
      @Saltfly Год назад +1

      @@parkitpitchitmoorit yeah denatured is what I use. Thanks for the recipe I’ll be making that one for sure.
