  • Siopao is a kind of steamed buns that is a popular Filipino food especially for people on the go. It is filled with meat and there are usually 2 kinds to choose from...Asado or Bola-Bola.
    Asado can be either chicken or pork with Asado sauce while Bola-Bola is with pork meatball. A special Bola-bola siopao may have chorizo and salted egg.
    It is usually sold in Chinese restaurants, as they were the ones who introduced Siopao to us. But Siopao can easily be seen sold along the streets and many food stands

    I like this video , except that,it didn't show what they did after the dough has risen and punched down ; instead the video showed the dough alreaady in a rectangular shape and ready to be cut.I want to know what they did to the dough;whether they knead it or not, and if they did, how long did it take to knead it.

    • @FoxyFolksy
      @FoxyFolksy  5 лет назад

      Hi Elizabeth, the instructions in the video is actually complete. You only knead the dough once at the beginning like in the video and after it has risen you tip it to a floured counter and divide, again as shown in the video. Then you flatten and fill each piece of dough.

      Hi Rosalie, Thanks for the advice. This is, of course, true especially if you are cooking or baking commercially. However, I do not think most normal housewives (like me😁) remove their nail polish every time they are cooking or baking.😁.
      As long as my hubby is not complaining and happy then it is fine (for me at least).

    • @FoxyFolksy
      @FoxyFolksy  7 лет назад

      +ErlanRosalie Tomas it takes some practice of course. Try using more dough per piece to make it thicker. Easier way is to just gather the ends on top and pinch to close then turn it upside down so the pinched part will be at the bottom attached to the wax paper. It won't look the same but it will prevent the fillings from spilling out..

    • @FoxyFolksy
      @FoxyFolksy  5 лет назад

      Iba iba po kasi ang flour. Minsan kailangan mas marami tubig, minsan mas konti. Next time po just add more flour hanggang di na sya ganoon kalagkit. Mababawasan di po ang lagkit habang minamasa ang dough kasi nag eevaporate ang water.

    shortening san po mabibili ?

    • @FoxyFolksy
      @FoxyFolksy  6 лет назад

      In the Ph, try the baking section of the big supermarkets or go to baking supply shops. The one I usually find here is the Crisco brand

    • @FoxyFolksy
      @FoxyFolksy  6 лет назад

      It is a form of fat that is in solid form even at room temp. Like lard...butter and margarine are also a kind of shortening but they have a distinct flavor that will affect your siopao so either the white shortening or lard. You can't find one then you can use oil but you may need to add flour as well..

    • @kuyaleinad4195
      @kuyaleinad4195 7 лет назад +3

      Leonora Ventura No, Cake flour has less gluten since less gluten is needed to make fluffy cakes. Since Siopao is a steamed bun and uses yeast, it needs gluten. So use all purpose flour :)
      If you're desperate, you can still use cake flour but you need to knead for longer :/

      Please help

    • @FoxyFolksy
      @FoxyFolksy  6 лет назад +1

      +riujithetechnician don't use bread flour just use all purpose flour. I don't know why it would turn dirty white, slightly yellowish pwede pa which can be resolved by adding a bit of vinegar to the dough. Check the surface where you knead if it is clean and the quality of the flour or sugar you use. 😊

    • @FoxyFolksy

      Baka dahil sa yeast na ginamit mo, subukan mo bawasan ang yeast or gumamit ng ibang brand. Posible din na masyado mainit sa kusina mo habang minamasa mo yung dough. Siguraduhin mo din na namasa ang dough ng mabuti at iwasan mo din na paalsahin ng sobra.
