      I put the same engine on a 24-inch bike and it's geared really high but it rubs directly on the tire anyway it will go 33 downhill and the rest of the time it's a slipping because the clutch needs weakr springs,, or I should put it on a 26-inch bike other than that it uses a lot of gas.. because it's slipping all the time unless you're wide open down the road it needs to be geared lower and it wouldn't hurt being direct drive just saying buy the 50cc

      @@jackhoward444howard8 it seems that people can do their own engineering as far as sprocketts but these little engines most of the time are geared way too high and that's not the fall of anyone but who installs it but if you're giving a sprocket you're going to put it on I get it sometimes I just deal with it the way it is that's one bicycle you need the pedal sometimes to keep it going

    • @ronalddaub7965
      @ronalddaub7965 3 года назад

      I added an extra gas tank just so I wouldn't run out going across town that was Little engines use a lot of gas unless they're geared right plus that tank isn't that big I guess that's why they sent me two

    On a Hyper Urban 700c bike, it's either this, or a complicated pocket bike motor install in the frame, or an expensive e-bike kit. It looks more stable than I had thought, though, I thought the two end holes were supposed to match to the two little holes at the tail of the bike frame lol. This video helps alot.

    Thanks for the great video! I’m into electric bikes, thinking about delving into the motorized bike world… looking at building a highbred. I built a highbred propane, electric bike about nine years ago. I used a small propane 40 cc motor from a Weedwhacker, driving the cranks, installed a 1500 W geared front hub motor, and a 1500 W direct drive rear hub motor. I eventually dismantled it couple of years ago and I’m looking to rebuild a similar one. I bought some drivetrain parts from you all a few years ago, looking to purchase another small four stroke, and a freewheeling crankset. Any suggestions on a small 40 cc four stroke?

    Hello. I love your videos. I need some help . I have a 49cc big bore pocket bike motor and I want to hook up a kill switch. We have had 3 different kill switches and they all don't work when we plug them in to the motor. So something is wrong. There is one wire coming from the motor and I am assuming it is a kill switch accessory wire. It has two plug in ports so my kill switches all plug in but do not stop the motor. What am I doing wrong. Please help.

      Chances are your float is saturated in the gas tank itself, it’s made of plastic and can fill up with gas and loose the ability to float up to cut the gas supply off and make the carb overflow.

      I built a bike for a friend with the exact same engine and wheel size. His does about 30 mph and he can go about 100 miles to a gallon of gas. That tank is quite small so it's best to put a basket or rack on the bike to hold a gas can, that tank only lasts maybe 15 miles maybe 20, since it's like 3/4 a quart of gas.

      When I was selling the friction drive setups I could get a cruise of 28-34 and a max out of 40 but the small tank would travel on average of 40miles which is not bad at all for the size of the tank.unless you are in the country and need a bigger tank. But with this setup it would be easy to get a back up rack mount gallon holding tank.

      well, in illinois, these motors are the best for legality. we have a 49cc limit. where i live, cops dont care too much about that, but this is plenty under the limit so its oki doki

      It all depends on where you live and who you talk to.
      If you have a fear of cops cracking down on ya, just collect the right documents and papers for it. If it’s that important, riding a motorized bike is worth the trouble for how far you can go and how little it takes.
      I deliver with UberEats. I make a lot, but there are soo many hills. Forget about it. My thick glutes can’t work the 8 hour shift I want with the heat and how much weight I need to tote.
      A motor is key for some, but not all. Depends what effort you’re willing to put. Imo, if you got a motor bike, it’s worth calling it a moped and having the freedom.

      Aflay I live in nys and cops will be eager to give out tickets for “operation of unregistered motor vehicle” even if it’s just a motorized bicycle (the dmv does not register motorized bicycles) a riding mower is about the most u can drive with no registration, well legally anyway.

      In Arkansas, a motorized bike doesn't require registration as long as its less than 49cc and has an automatic transmission. It is required to have a headlight and you have to wear eye protection while operating it; no helmet unless you're under 18.

    Isn't it better than friction drive? Couldn't someone take the entire back tire off and run?

    • @MrFreth
      @MrFreth 4 года назад

      That's why your expensive U-lock goes around your seat post, through your rear tire, and around a permanently fixed rack that can't be easily removed. Although with a battery powered grinder, a thief can cut though almost anything if they are willing and determined enough to spend the time.

    in canada any gas motor on a bicycle is an instant ticket/bike tow unless you have a motorcycle license

      @B S for electric bikes in canada you can have an ebike as high as 500w without needing a license, anything 600w+ or gas powered requires a license

    The mount to the bike seems a bit chintzy to me. If it were stronger i would definitely consider buying

    • @alexhickey5633
      @alexhickey5633 4 года назад +1

      Still tho a 38cc 4 stroke has weight to it and being a few inches out from the frame creates a nice bit of leverage and then the torque from the engine itself on top of that. To me it doesnt seem sturdy enough

      Being perfectly honest man i wouldnt trust it. A thick billet aluminium mount would be my preference

    ? Where’s the grease for the hub ?

    • @MrFreth
      @MrFreth 4 года назад

      You ALWAYS have to grease the hub bearings. He thought you'd assume this, so didn't show it. (Did you notice how clean and dry the bearings were when he removed them? this was just for ease of demonstration.)
