The wind at the start of the video + your hair made you look like you were in a Pantene commercial 😉 Beautiful orchids as usual, especially the stunning Vandas down the middle.
Great way to drift off to sleep watching your video thanks Nel. I look forward to watch you not buying any more orchids, I will believe that one when I see it 😉
Lol! My voice apparently soothes people to sleep. I was told that before. lol! I hope in a good way. 🥱 All kidding aside, thank you for your support and love for my channel. 💚
I am impressed to see how many of your vandas are blooming simultaneously. I cannot tell you enough what a great job you all did with the extension of the terrace. It truly looks amazing!
Thank you Alejandro. Every day we are improving the space. It’s so much easier now to water. Also I’m finally sectioning my family of orchids in groups. I agree on the Vandas. It’s like they are responding in blooms. They seem so happy in the new shade house.
I cant believe my graveolens bloomed when I was on vacation and I couldnt enjoy its bad smell 😭 I will have to wait a whole year. Beautiful blooms always enjoy your videos.
Sorry to hear that. The smell is pretty bad. My Quicktent smells musky. lol! What is doing very well is the ginger Mariposa you gave me. It’s about to bloom. Can’t wait!🤗
Thank you for appreciating my hard work. I always say you guys are the reason I’ve continued the channel. Reading your comments boost me to do more and more. 👍🏼
I’ve been watering when need be. I’m learning more and more that watering every day is not the way to go we have to see how our environment dries things out. In the summer I like to water every other day. If it’s above 90 degrees I water daily. If it’s raining I don’t water. If it’s cold I don’t water every day. I may water once or twice a week in winter.
Woahh, the extended greenhouse is really amazing! Would really like to have a greenhouse like that in the future. Also, that Phal. Green World is really type! It is soo soo pretty! Thank you so much for giving us a tour, Nelson! 🥳💚 And yeah, I agree with your opinion, that we all have different environment from each other and we can't really just give a general care/watering since there are lots and lots of factors that goes into growing/watering orchids! 💚
Everything is so beautiful and the addition tops it off. You have accomplished so much and it really does show. All the blooms is there are saying oh thank you. 💚💚💚
As always, GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS! I hope you fare well with all the rain we are getting🙏. But, I am sure since your new addition is covered, your babies are protected😍
Nelson, I'm enjoying your gorgeous ginormous orchid greenhouse full of beautiful blooms. As I'm watching the video I'm thinking, bigger greenhouse means much longer videos, Yea. I'm enjoying every bit of your lovely green space that's a feast for the senses.
Lol! Sometimes I wonder if you guys will get tired of the longer videos. But you are absolutely right. More orchids, more content. Glad you are enjoying it.
Hi Nelson love your orchids and vids because of your lovely vandas my son is getting addict to vandas plus wants to try Aerides now,. We live in South Africa keep up with your beautiful vids
I loved reading this. It warms my heart to know I’ve inspired people into something so pure as orchid keeping. Aerides is my new passion. Just like Cattleya purpurata. That’s the beauty of orchids. You can rediscover them over and over. 💚
29:44 Placed my first online order with Krull-Smith last month and this orchid reminded me of the one I ordered, the Cattleya Lacey Michelle Matherne (1765) (Cattleya tigrina 'Paul' AM/AOS x Cattleya aclandiae 'Krull's Black Ride'). It has already been repotted and it seems to be doing well so far here in Connecticut with two new roots growing. I have it in an enclosed, eastern facing porch for now. 45:06 Maybe this Bulbophlyum can be hybridized in the future to not smell so bad because the flowers are very unique. 57:01 🫶
Your new addition to the greenhouse is wonderful. Full of gorgeous blooms. I am really struggling with the heat this year. It’s to hot. Thank you for sharing. I also put more than one orchid to a pot. What a site when they bloom. You are a blessing to all of us.
Can you tell me what kind of fertilizer you use the names of them I'm new at orchids and I think some of your videos but I can never get the names of the fertilizer you have the most beautiful garden
I buy all my fertilizers from OFE Orchid and Supplies. www.ofeintl.com. I use their 20-20-20, Sea Kelp, Super Thrive, and Cal-Mag. I mix it all together per gallon measurements. I use 1/2 tsp per gallon of the 20-20-20, 1 tsp per gallon of Cal-Mag, 1/4 tsp per gal. of Super Thrive, and 1 tsp per gallon of Sea Kelp
Somewhere I read that it is better to take good care of a small garden then have a messy big one. You take such good care of what you currently have it would be a shame to buy additional orchids and then fall behind on their care. A wise man knows his limitations! As regards having two orchids named after you - Nelson, it couldn't happen to a nicer guy!!!
It’s been raining allot but in my area we don’t ever get floods. The agricultural district sits on lime stone so the water simply drains out quickly. The city is another story. It’s pretty bad.
I try to release them in the early morning. Allot of my viewers love watching in the morning with their coffee I won’t lie. I do the same with other RUclips channels as well. Morning coffee and orchid YouTubing. The best!💚
I get most of the Bulbophyllums from Krull Smith Orchids. You may want to get the newly registered Bulbophyllum Nelson Viera. Krull Smith created a spectacular new cross and named it after me. They are selling very fast so I would start with that one. Once their gone it may take several year for the new seedlings to develop into a mature, blooming plant.
I like to hand water everything early morning and sometimes in the afternoons as well when it's really hot. I like to control the water myself. Not all orchids need watering everyday. Also some orchids require heavy drenching while others only need a sprinkle.
❤thanks for those insect tips. Going to be looking for those wasps. Thrips, aphids , mealy bugs , overwatering and H are our worst enemies (in that order)what do you think?
Those are all bad words in the orchid realm. I swear those black wasps kept all my buds so clean. It’s like I want to figure out a way to procreate these wasps in my yard. They are amazing thrip eaters.
Thank you for such a wonderful video! Your orchids are just stunning. One question for you - what is the name of the colorful cucullata-looking hybrid in your intro? It’s one of the first few. Sorry if you’ve said it before and I’ve missed it. Thank you!
Actually I reached out to Julien at Krull Smith and he identified it. I should have asked years ago. lol! Bc. James Pinkney, Tiny Rubies x Brassavola cucullata
