  • María is an award-winning orchid grower for more than 40 years. She recalls collecting wild encyclias in Cuba and growing them in her home. When she arrived to Miami in the 80’s, she soon began her collection of orchids. Today she owns hundreds if not thousands of different orchids from around the world. She also shows some amazing specimens which she got over 2 decades ago at local garden centers. Come be inspired by her beautiful garden. I’m sure this episode will get you on your feet and back in your garden. It’s sure inspired me with mine. #orchidcare #homevisit #gardenideas #gardeningtips #gardenscapes #cattleya #flowers #blooms #floridalife #orchidshow #plants ##vanda #orchids

    Hola querido Nelson. Me encantan los videos donde visitas a estas expertas coleccionistas de orquídeas. María estar en ese bello jardín es una bendición!!!! Muchos años coleccionando hermosuras. En Cuba nunca conocí personas que tuvieran muchas orquídeas, solo la más común que es la catleya. Ya el orquídeario de Soroa está muy abandonado, es un crimen. Me encanto el recorrido por tu linda casa. Muchas bendiciones a los dos. Los quiero.

    • @naturenel
      @naturenel  4 месяца назад +1

      En Cuba existen muchas orcquideas nativas. La Encyclia es silvestre en los montes de Cuba. Lo bueno es que los Cubanos en Cuba no tienen interés en colectar orquídeas de el monte. Por eso todavía existen en Cuba. Si no, ya estuvieran en extinto. La única persona que conozco que tiene licencia para colectar orquídeas en Cuba es Hamlyn Orchids de Jamaica. Yo tengo varias Encyclias de ellos que viene de Cuba. 🇨🇺

      @@naturenel si por eso, yo digo en las casas sólo he visto las catleyas que son lila, por desgracia uno no tiene ni como ir al monte, hay que tener una pasión muy grande para dedicarse a eso allá. Pero me alegra saber ese dato. Gracias.

      Here in Miami fall and winter ate very short if. If you live here in Miami you would feed once a month starting in October through February. Beginning of March you amp up the dosage and frequency of feedings. She does hers every 15 days from March to September.

      Oh boy! That sounds like me. I would kill so many cattleyas that I boycotted them for a while. It wasn’t until I realize I was watering too much and kept them in the wrong medium. Try changing them to a mix of lava rock and charcoal. Put them in terracotta pots. Never in full sun. Bright light yes. Water every other day. See how that works. 👍🏼

    • @naturenel
      @naturenel  Месяц назад +1

      We use mainly charcoal and lava rock. If you keep them in an area where you can’t control the water like rain, you will have problems. We keep ours outdoors so the medium is very draining and strong like lava. Stop using wood if it’s getting rain upon rain.

      Yes. That. Y the most part means it’s thrips. I’ve been using Sevin spray successfully for several months now. I’m shying away from harmful chemicals due to my crops and pets. The only thing is Sevin needs to be used several times before eradicating those buggers. I spray every 3 days for a week and that does the trick.

I did so him how can people buy from him. He is not really in the business of going to shows. Just hit me up on facebook and see if he’s willing to ship you orchids. I’m not sure. I don’t see why not. Perhaps the humidity may be too low. If I were you I would try. Let me know how it does in your environment.
