Yeah. I did a similar thing. My ex was very list and I.put a science book in his hand. He wound up becoming a science teacher. Lol, no acknowledgement for me. He never told anyone.
Wrong. Mostly Ozzy owes his solo career to Bob Daisley, aside from him having enough name and be managered by the Ardens, then Randy, Lee and Jake after which it was just riding the waves created by the aforementioned. Bob would still have written some great music with another guitarist plus Ozzy's inputs, had Dana not introduced Randy. Of course it would have been very different. But we have to remember Bob and Ozzy were still playing with other guitarists when Ozzy returned from that time in L.A. to England so _all chips were still in the air_ . Bob said their drummer and guitarist weren't good enough and from then when he heard Ozzy speak about the guy he'd heard in L.A. they still also had to persuade David Arden to have Randy flown to England etc.
I met the entire Vinnie Vincent band when they opened for Alice Cooper in ‘87..Every one of them was awesome!!! Very nice to us..I’ve met Mark and Dana since then around 2003-04 and they were just as cool!!
I did laminates for Slaughter for years between '94 - '00, and yes the entire band were fantastic, both to work with and personally. Down-to-earth, hard-working, talented and humble. No matter whether they were headlining, opening or on a larger package lineup they were always incredibly grounded. And excellent writers/musicians to boot. Nothing but love for the guys
Tim taught me how to play guitar in 94. He lived in Henderson around the corner from me, but we met at the halfway house. He was a great guy and an awesome teacher. I still play today but the 4 or 5 trips to his house he had me playing songs. If not for that I would never have stuck with it.
Hey Mac, interesting comment you have here. I’ve been looking into more about Tim and the tour managers arrest with a kilo of coke back in 1993, but there is very scarce information on it. Was he at the halfway house as a part of a probation or parole thing? Did he ever speak of it to you?
I actually met him at the Rock Never Stops Tour in 98 (Scriba New York) He was just coming off stage and I yelled to him as he was walking to his bus. About 15 minutes later he came through the ropes and found me and said,"What's Up Dude?!" We stood there bullshiting for about 10 minutes!! He's an all-around great musician, great personality and just a great person! And yes I did get his autograph! Thx DANA!!!
Two of the best storytellers of back in the day are Rudy Sarzo and Dana Strum. That’s because they were smart enough to avoid the pitfalls of the lifestyle.
He is right, 80's rock music will never die, I go to the grocery store and they're playing Judas Priest on the PA or Foghat or Warrant and I'm singing along picking up food, you can't kill Rock-n-Roll 😁
this just proves we need an hour of dana telling stories and giving his thoughts on everything from groupies to breakfast cereal ... dude is fun, funny and pretty damn smart
Geez Dana is a great story teller. Here in Australia Slaughter albums were very hard to get from "The Wild Life" onwards, I found a little independent Record shop that would import them for me but the albums were probably triple the price of anything else and took months to arrive. They were worth every cent.
I've had the chance to meet Dana on several occasions, he is the coolest guy. I'm so glad he found a way to make a living out of this crazy business. Thanks for all the music, the memories and the great stories...
After seeing the first part of Dana's interview a while back I couldn't wait for part 2. Dana is a fantastic story teller and we need more. Dana is 80's rock royalty for sure.
I loved and still love Vinnie Vincent Invasion and Slaughter! I only got to see Slaughter live back in the day, but they were amazing! Thanks for featuring Dana and his great stories. This is an oral history of one of the greatest periods in music!
It's so great seeing Dana! I've often wondered how he was doing and have so many great memories seeing Slaughter live on a number of occasions and meeting them too. Fun interview!
Had the opportunity to meet Dana (and his family) on MORC in Feb 22. What an incredibly nice and genuine man! He took time to introduce us to his wife and son, have a full on visit with us, thank us for supporting his band, sign a photo, and wish me a happy BD. He & his wife both told us to come say hey anytime we saw them and that they loved having us approach them. Very cool.
80s rock will never die in my house it’s usually blaring out of the windows of the house or blaring out of the windows of my automobile 80s rock rules forever 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Great chat!! 80s rock and metal will certainly never die because nothing replicates that vibe and feeling. There’s nothing out there that’s as lasting. A lot of (not all) modern rock and metal sounds the same.
Man- these are good interviews. I think there’s a place for more longer form. You’re clearly asking great questions leading to great and insightful answers.
Awesome story telling 🤘🤘 Last time i saw Mark and Dana was 4 or 5 years ago at the whiskey barrel in Laconia NH. Awesome show. Would love to meet Dana and just talk about music. I miss my band days. Still play but not the same. I miss being on stage, playing music. Such a fun time
I'm thankful I've had the opportunity to play this style of music in these Iconic clubs on Sunset,etc... Thank you for bringing us these interviews. I could listen to Dana all day. Looking forward to part 3. #Damngoodtimes
Great interview with Dana. He was such an integral part of the scene (introducing Randy Rhoads to Ozzy for example!). He made some great music with some cool bands. I actually have his guitar pick from one of those shows he mentioned. Such a cool guy!
I was lucky enough to hang/work with the boys a few wks ago at arcada ... and yes, I could listen to dana and the stories all day long.. great guy, treats fans like family. Can't wait to see them again!
80's music, or metal will never die Dana? I can grab whichever CD, and play it whenever I want. It's always going to be there for us to enjoy. Thank you for all the great music.
Always admired him for not falling into the trap of drugs and heavy drinking. Damn, can he tell a story though! Really should write a book but maybe he knows too many stories lol Long live 80s Rock!
Dana has, and will always be, in it for his love of the music. He reminds me of Jeff Pilson, from Dokken. They both remain in the music scene whether writing, producing, and managing. Musicians like that keep the music flowing. Long live 70’s rock, 80’s metal, 90’s grunge, and today’s bands.
Yeah he has something that just makes you listen. I like listening to Dana's stories. Maybe he should have his own show on youtube or something. Cool and talented guy. Need more. lol
Love these guys. Many nights before and after shows I have spent talking everything from music business to guitars to being parents with them. Dana in this interview is just like the real Dana. He is such a great person to be around.
What a fkn great interview Dana, I couldnt have put any better. I just saw myself in you, and the memories from playing in the 80's and wanting to make it, fkn DAMN, you nailed it all brother. Great memories and times, I wouldnt change a thing, I survived to tell "my tales" too... Well done Dana :) keep fkn rockin .. I can still the gleam in your eyes too :)
Slaughter is one of my favorite bands. Their music is like positive psychology. It leaves you in a positive mood. Mark S. and the guys are true legends.
What a great interview. I really appreciated Dana’s stories and insights. He seems like a genuine, level-headed guy. I’ve wished that Slaughter would record some new music for years.
Definitely agree to the as long as people listen to 80s metal music. It will never die. I’m in my early 30s And that’s mostly all I listen to all day 😊
I think that Dana is an icon. He put Randy and Ozzy together. Van Halen was more pop rock..Angus said that. Nothing wrong with that. I personally, was gravitated immediately to Randy's playing, and to me, his playing on the 1st 2 Ozzy albums is magic. That's my opinion. Randy is my biggest guitar influence. If you hate this comment, don't read it again...
Got to meet Dana, Tim and Blas at a meet and greet around ‘93. Very nice, talked to everyone. Got Dana to smile with my then girlfriend (now wife)-something he “didn’t do” for photos. What I didn’t expect was the bear hug from Tim, like meeting a long-lost friend. I was genuinely sad when I heard he passed away.
I still play on that very premise of the way guitar made me feel as a kid. So great to hear Dana put that into perspective. I will play that stupid guitar till death do us part.
Dana I opened up for you and Slaughter in Hershey Pa at a club called Shakeys. You and Mark were AWESOME! You invited myself and my drummer Jerry to have dinner with you guys during soundcheck. Mark listened when we sound checked and we had just released our first full length CD and were playing some songs for the check. He come and asked "you guys are gonna play that stuff tonight right?" I said well our job is to get the crowd going so probably not. He insisted and we talked about our gear. Great night. Thank you Dana and Mark for a great experience. Not all of them were with other bands unfortunately.
The guy put Randy and Ozzy together. Ozzy owes him his solo career. Metal fans all over the globe owe him.
Yes....
Funny Story to That Whole Thing(Dana Connecting Ozzy to with Randy) Too....
Yeah. I did a similar thing. My ex was very list and I.put a science book in his hand. He wound up becoming a science teacher. Lol, no acknowledgement for me. He never told anyone.
# lost
Wrong. Mostly Ozzy owes his solo career to Bob Daisley, aside from him having enough name and be managered by the Ardens, then Randy, Lee and Jake after which it was just riding the waves created by the aforementioned.

Dana may just be one of the greatest rock n roll story tellers ever!. Well done - many more great interviews cued up and coming soon.
Really? I couldn't follow his train of thought at all.
When can we expect part 2 of ozzy meeting Randy?
He fkn Nailed it :)
I was just thinking the same thing. I could spend all day listening to him tell rock star stories all day.
Gram Bonnet is Pretty Good Too.....👍
I feel like "If you love someone's music, don't meet them" doesn't apply to Dana Strum. He seems like one of coolest, easy going guys ever!
Totally.. i met him a couple times over the years and he was always very cool, polite and professional... such a great dude.
When him and Mark were auditioning drummers and guitarists for Slaughter they made sure they guys they hired wanted to be nice to fans.
I met the entire Vinnie Vincent band when they opened for Alice Cooper in ‘87..Every one of them was awesome!!! Very nice to us..I’ve met Mark and Dana since then around 2003-04 and they were just as cool!!
He personally handed me one of his bass picks at one of Vince's concerts
I did laminates for Slaughter for years between '94 - '00, and yes the entire band were fantastic, both to work with and personally. Down-to-earth, hard-working, talented and humble. No matter whether they were headlining, opening or on a larger package lineup they were always incredibly grounded. And excellent writers/musicians to boot. Nothing but love for the guys
I love how he repeatedly acknowledged how lucky he was. Really humble.
Such a cool guy! He should write a book on his life in rock!
Long as he does the audible for it
I met him before. He was super cool 😎 Thanks Dana for being cool !!
Agreed!!
Dana needs his own show!! He has the "IT" factor in telling stories! Truly a gift. I would subscribe in a heartbeat!
“IT” being he’s not a complete fake. He’s speaking some actual truth. Most “entertainers” are narcissistic phonies.
@@readmore4178 Very true! 👍
He's alright. I'd burn one with him. He seems pretty grounded.
totally agree
Yea. He definitely does

I want to hear more about Tim. Dana seemed to be a bit puzzled about him and what direction he was headed in. Shame that he left us so early.
Hey Mac, interesting comment you have here. I’ve been looking into more about Tim and the tour managers arrest with a kilo of coke back in 1993, but there is very scarce information on it.
Was he at the halfway house as a part of a probation or parole thing? Did he ever speak of it to you?
a lot happened that part & time in his life
I actually met him at the Rock Never Stops Tour in 98 (Scriba New York) He was just coming off stage and I yelled to him as he was walking to his bus. great story teller, I could listen to this guy for hours, the way he tells his stories etc is so engaging, please get more with Dana
I totally agree
Agreed, this was great. Would like to hear more from Dana.
Never really knew nor liked Dana Strum until now. What a great storyteller!
agreed
Two of the best storytellers of back in the day are Rudy Sarzo and Dana Strum. That’s because they were smart enough to avoid the pitfalls of the lifestyle.
Dana ought to be the go-to guy for so many of those rockumentaries, instead of Dee Snider.
He is right, 80's rock music will never die, I go to the grocery store and they're playing Judas Priest on the PA or Foghat or Warrant and I'm singing along picking up food, you can't kill Rock-n-Roll 😁
Really, because I only hear adult contemporary or pop at grocery stores or Walgreen's/CVS.
@@mariopalos9238exactly I just hear the same computerized mumble rap and mainstream pop everywhere now
I love ’80s rockers who age with class and grow as people. Fascinating and inspirational video.
this just proves we need an hour of dana telling stories and giving his thoughts on everything from groupies to breakfast cereal ... dude is fun, funny and pretty damn smart

I wish they would tour Australia. Long way to travel to the US for their shows.
I've had the chance to meet Dana on several occasions, he is the coolest guy. I'm so glad he found a way to make a living out of this crazy business. Thanks for all the music, the memories and the great stories...
I fully appreciate Dana Strum's blunt honesty.
This is great. Genuine and truly passing on some priceless history and wisdom. Should absolutely write a book!!.
After seeing the first part of Dana's interview a while back I couldn't wait for part 2. Dana is a fantastic story teller and we need more. Dana is 80's rock royalty for sure.
I have been a fan of his work since 88, great dude and spirit about him. God bless
I loved and still love Vinnie Vincent Invasion and Slaughter! I only got to see Slaughter live back in the day, but they were amazing! Thanks for featuring Dana and his great stories. This is an oral history of one of the greatest periods in music!
That first VVI album was awesome!!
Dana is a true gentleman and a great person !
It's so great seeing Dana! I've often wondered how he was doing and have so many great memories seeing Slaughter live on a number of occasions and meeting them too. Fun interview!
I saw them on the Rock Never Stops tour in '98. Amazing show all around.
My 20 and 21 year old kids LOVE 80's metal. They go to metal shows too.
Fortunately 80's metal is still alive in Vegas and LA.

Missing soul, too electronic, forgettable.
Slaughter is my favorite! Great interview, Dana! 🥁😎 🎶 🎤 💕
Dana Strum seems so very genuine and down to earth. I grew up in 80s and love this music!
I could listen to him talk for hours. I met him at a show and he was very nice. He’s iconic.
Definitely should write his biography, can't wait to read it
His stories about Ozzy are the best
Thank you Dana for such an interesting journey through some absolutely fascinating times.
What a Nice guy Dana. Thanks for the video. Keep posting those please.

Dana needs a podcast...yesterday.
This channel has the best interviews. Hands down.
Thank you Mr Strum. You taught me a lot. Love your videos. I hope I can meet you someday. Chris Canfield, Captain Howdy Pay it foward!
I still play on that very premise of the way guitar made me feel as a kid. So great to hear Dana put that into perspective. I will play that stupid guitar till death do us part.
