Nice move, Toni! The Envaya DSB250 sounds and looks very good. Not a cheap speaker though; with a price around 200 euros it doesn't only sound like a hifi-speaker, it also costs the same as a hifi-speaker. ;) But: it's impressive to see (and hear) that with today's technology designers and engineers manage to create the nice sound of a larger speaker, out of a very compact, portable, dust- and waterproof box. I read it also supports Siri and duo mode. Looking forward to more (practical) reviews and sound comparisons. Thumbs up!
Hi Toni, Oluv mentioned on a video that he found that if you have the DSB250 speaker volume set under 100% volume that when you try to adjust the volume with your phone the speaker still thinks it's at 100% and therefore doesn't respond to the phone volume setting correctly. Have you experienced this?
Toni, congratulations for your videos! I want to use my speaker for both listening to music and watching my movies. Do you think the Denon Envaya is a good option? I was looking at the Riva Turbo X as well because of it's stereo mode... Thanks!
Hi, what is price for Denon DSB 250? What is the price fot Denon DSB 150? How they are compared with old Denon DSB 100? Where to buy new Denon DSB 150 or 200? Prasad Badve
Really appreciate you doing this review! Do you have any thoughts as far as bass response and overall loudness of the Envaya vs the Bose Revolve+ ? Mostly listening to house and hip-hop and need a speaker that sounds good at high volumes that is in this size range. In the US we do not have the Envaya in stores yet so I will be ordering online based on reviewers opinions I respect like yours. :) Thanks again Speaker Toni.
I just want to get a Bluetooth speaker for both inside and outside, under 200$ and not bigger than the charge 3. Which of the following is the best: Bose Soundlink revolve, Denon envaya 250, Jbl charge 3, JBL Pulse 3 or the Sony XB30?
Nicely comparison portable bluetooth speaker. Would you comparing 4 speaker together Denon Envaya with Dockin D Fine+, and both of with Anker SoundCore boost & Pro+? Thanks a lot to your effort!
You forget to set up denon on max volume, because when you turn off and turn on,volume is back to normal, everytime when you turn on denon you must pressing + button on speaker to the max, it does not remember the volume from the last time you use it
Yes - I have enquired at Vifa -if there will be an app for late night mode , otherwise I will return the unit and exchange for the Dennon. Or the the A1. I had big hopes for the Reykjavik and I was so excited , but the sounds is just average .
I was also disappointed with the loudness. I own a UE Boom2-- which admittedly is not a great sounding speaker. However, I thought the Denon would outperform the UE on both loudness and quality. The Denon is too quiet for the price IMO. Gonna return it.
Good work Toni, you are the first serious Envaya tester! I tested the entire new Envaya line in a store, I agree that the largest one is a fantastic speaker! I love the sound of it! And the fact that it is ipx7 water proof. The new leader of its class. Even better than Vifa Reykjavik and Charge 3 and I think the most of the speakers of its size (800 g). I hope you will be testing even other new Envayas. Toni please post the frequency measurement chart of the speaker.
Vito Gold thank you:) Where did you hear the Vifa and how did it sound exactly? I’am not sure if I’ll test the others as some people claim they aren’t very great sounding. At least I know that the middle one isn’t that special as I watched clavinetjunkies video about it. I think I’ll feature some measurements in another video:)
Speaker Toni I tested Reykjavik in a store in Stockholm couple of days ago, it has great clarity and a very neutral sound picture. Mids and highs are great but the bass is hughly disappointing. It isn't boosted and it doesn't go very low or you hardly hear the lows. So this is not a speaker for low level listening. They even had Bose Revolve in the same store and it totally outperformed Reykjavik. Well the new Envaya Mini is a good speaker as well, reminds a lot of the old Mini but the new has a far wider sound picture. Mini Pocket was somewhat disappointing since it differed a lot from other Envayas soundwise. Strange because it has the same size as the old Mini, it is just somewhat longer. They should have been able to create a better Pocket soundwise. I am actually looking for a water proof speaker with great sound across the frequency range and boosted bass for low volume level listening weighing around 300-400 g and had high hopes for Pocket. But I might buy the new Mini instead even if it is slightly heavier.
If anything can sound better then Bose Revolve then.......I am buying it. I have had Revolve 3 days and I am blown away by how well it sounds. Plus, the 360 degree sound is really a must have feature on a portable speaker. I also have borrowed JBL Pulse 2 from my cousin, which we know is one of the most balanced tuned speakers and the sound difference is huge (Revolve much better) but also directional speaker which Pulse 2 is makes no sense - I move out of the sweet spot and the sound gets shitty. With Revolve it's all the same however you move - amazing feature imo and a must have. But that's only my opinion of course :)
Speaker Toni have you seen Oluv's recent Envaya review where he adressed the volume/ bass issue and the fact that the sound picture changes drastically when you lower the volume level of the soeaker. What is your experience?
I had one a week ago but could keep it. To listen to Metal treble was so loud i had to take volume down i would then lose the bass because it would only be nice at higher volumes. Donno if something was wrong with mine but i took other people's opinion and they all disliked when high vocals or guitars would come in. Im still working on its replacement.
Hey Speaker Tony. The round white sphere on your desk (Upper leftside) isent that the almighty Divalet Gold 3500w output , 5000 smackers , best money can buy ? Are you going to review it ? or is it just a dummy ?
Such an awesome video! I also run a youtube channel, so can you tell me is there any risk of having a copyright strike if we use any random music tracks for comparing speakers?
I have Fugoo style. I would say it sounds really good too, but Denon has some edge. What you can do is, use an EQ app on your phone to adjust sound of your liking.
You have nice videos, but man, you have to do something with that expensive camera used for shooting the video...the focus is really disturbing and it will be a show stopper if you keep using it on autofocus. Put it on manual focus, use a larger F stop for deeper depth of field and you have a winner!
So far jbl is updating the lines of speakers differently. The change from charge 2 to 3 was huge and flip 3 to 4 was huge. I am curious to see what they do to the next generation of both and hopefully the xtreme too. If it came out with a flat frequency response like the flip 4, but without too much treble, have it reach a little deeper in bass and add volume compensation for bass at low volumes - who wouldn't want that. There is potential, cross my fingers
I am subscribed to your channel and I like your video but in this one, IMHO, you should have been speaking a little less and let the speaker sound longer.. you switched from one to the other in just too little time. Sorry to complain but I hope this can help you to improve your next videos. You are doing in general a good job. May be this time you were too much excited about the Denon and messed up the timing in the comparison.
the bass is more powerful on the charge 3 , more punchy, dennon maybe clearer but not that punchy. dennon more clear on mids and highs i think. maybe seems to be more powerful on the charge 3 because its more boosted ( in the upper bas frequencies)
Speaker Toni wow thanks for the ultra fast response buddy! I had a big dillema between this denon and the riva s but now i'll definitely go and order the denon! Thanks again
because you love the speakers like me, you really need to listen the Kenwood BT77 or its sibling dostyle sd806. They sound really hifi with great extension both on trebles and bass and wonderful clarity. Much better then DOSS soundbox XL or Sony XB30 (with "right" equalization).
Antonio Pinto people told me that it is a hit or miss with those speakers. With some tracks they sound awesome and with some not so much. I also doubt that they will be better than the Doss as that is a very hard competition. Still, I might check one out when I can find it:)
i think you already know this: switcher.oluvsgadgets.net/. Listen with your own ears and compare the DOSS with the Kenwood in surround mode. Anyway you already reviewed most of the best speakers so why miss that one? BTW I own both the DOSS and the Dostyle SD806 (and also the Envaya mini, the Sony XB30 and others..) so I directly compared them side by side.
The Dostyle sd806 has a flatter frequency response in the mids where the DOSS some times lacks somehow (sometimes the voices seams slightly "covered"). Dostyle's sound is crispier and detailed without never being harsh. On negative sides the battery lasts only few hours while the DOSS lasts ages! Another negative side is that the BT connection is not great.. From bass response point of view, the DOSS is able to go down to nearly 35Hz but the Dostyle goes anyway down to 40Hz which is not bad at all and better than anything else in the same size. Both speakers are 2.1 which means that they have left and right channels for mids and trebles and a center woofer for lower frequencies. The Dostyle has a Yamaha chip inside which looks to be a champion about surround sound. Never heard anything like that: the voices always are kept well in focus while the instruments stereo is greatly enhanced giving a spacious rendering of the scene. From audio quality perspective the Dostyle is AMAZING! Believe me. So much that any negative sides comes in lower priority. BTW the Dostyle has PC-USB input which means that if you use it with PC the battery life is not a problem. Be aware that the Dostyle sounds great at low-mid volumes but does not sound very loud. It only has 18W which is much less than the DOSS soundbox XL.
JBL has more battery compared to denon. The treble problem with the C3 can be solved by equalizing. I wish denon had 20+ hrs battery life coz i would favor a longer battery life than treble problems.
Envaya has a bit too much high end. In comparisson the jbl is dull but Envaya goes to the other extreme. For me none of the two sounds balanced. I would pick the Envaya out of the two but realistically i am not buying it. Will wait for a more balanced speaker
Mig K yes , choosing the same tracks from Tonis video you can compare, I know it is not perfect but you can get the general idea , the denone sounds warmer and has more substance better midds .
The way things kept going in and out of focus during the unboxing gave me a headache. I know it's the auto focus but maybe not the right camera (or setting) for when you're moving around so much. Other than that nice review.
Christopher Ashley-Smith I bought the 250 when it first came out, & it didn't sound at all like the rave reviews said it would. There was a video on RUclips (maybe Toni) about removing the cover, which I did (front and rear), and I saw that most of the internal screws hadn't been tightened, incl. those securing the drivers. I tightened them and glued them all down (so they wouldn't shake loose over time), and the result was like night & day (still is). Denon's QC is pathetic, but their sound quality is not. Can't say if the cause of your passive radiator problem will be as simple as loose parts (I hope so), or if you'll void the warranty by opening the cover (although the cover can be removed & replaced without physically damaging the speaker, it might be detectable somehow, I don't know.). I didn't care about the warranty, I just wanted the speaker to work. PS The Envaya250 battery self-discharges like the one in the old Envaya Mini did, but not nearly as badly and it lasts longer. Not a deal killer imo, but sad given how long Denon had between the release of the two models to fix the problem.
ambiepogita the revolve will have no chance. It sounds covered and unrefined compared to the Denon. It’s also quite a bit softer and sounds worse on max volume. Although it might sound a bit more punchy on normal volumes and it’s of course more practical than the Denon as it has 360 degree sound.
'no chance'? That's amazing then --> I am testing Revolve at home and I am really blown by how good this speaker sounds. I also agree with 360 sound - in fact, why would one buy a bluetooth portable speaker, put it in front and sit down in order to listen to? You buy portable speakers in order to use them actively and move around with them therefore directional sound approach is not very good imo - all portable speakers should be 360 degree. One thing I have to say too is that when using clavinetjunkie's awesome speaker database on switcher, the 360 degree speakers like revolve and revolve+ sound weird to say the least. When I unpacked the Revolve I was blown away by how good the tuning is i.e. (imo) somewhere between boombox/V tuning and hi-fi tuning or, to say it differently, boombox/V/fun tuning but very well done. The switcher recording doesn't do it justice (probably because of 360 sound technology or something?). I also love how it sounds full bodied at low volumes. I think that in this form factor (size I mean) and price (max 200 euro) the best ones would be Envaya 250, Revolve and Dostyle SD806 (if you can get one for testing) - and this 3 speaker shootout would be awesome (while comparing the winner out of these three with Soundbox XL - only becuase the Soundbox XL is considerably bigger then these).
ARKADIUSZ MIKINA if they release a firmware update for the Vifa Reykjavik where they fix the bass issue it will be one of the best in this class as well, if not the best. The Revolve sounds diffused in recordings because it never 100% faces you as it’s a 360 degree speaker.
exactly. What I am trying to say is that clavinetjunkie seems to like the Revolve line quite a lot. Then when I went to switcher to listen to it against the Dostyle I wasn't that impressed. When I unpacked the Revolve at home though I instantly fell in love. Plus, the Bose up is solid/stable. All they need to do is include some sort of EQ there or different presets for different listening situations.
Maurice Frank I think it’s still impressive as the Denon is the same size. Plus the charge is only a bit more than 1 year older and not 2 and if it’s JBL choice to don’t release a successor to the charge 3 they have to be ok with me comparing it to newer speakers.
yeah sure, i think a new successor of the charge 3 woud or could blow the denon away, if we consider that jbl would have had 1-2 years to produce a successor to the jbl charge 3 , collecting know how etc. but let s wait for 2018 :D the denon is the better speaker , for sure, but i can't see the new generation or innovation after 1+ year advance to the charge 3 and for a 150% price tag of the charge 3. however, it is all subjective. i still waait for the WOW effect on a speaker , considering, sound+size+price all in one. the denon is therefore the bests 2017 but just a winner with an small edge. i hope for more impressive stuff coming up :D maybe a smaller or unknown company would offer a new innovation, would be nice.
It's nice to see hifi-like bluetooth speakers. Not everyone needs just loudness and boomy bass.
Thumbs up!
Nice detailed review! I like the sound signature of that Dennon. A good suggestion for a future comparison could possibly be the Soundbox XL.
Doc Elecktronc I agree
“UE Megatrash”! Good one!
Do you still recommend this product? So hard finding a portable Bluetooth speaker with great sound.
Maybe that's unfair to compare with Helsinki, but why not? Really want to know how those compare when in same vol. level.

Toni, congratulations for your videos! I want to use my speaker for both listening to music and watching my movies. Do you think the Denon Envaya is a good option? I was looking at the Riva Turbo X as well because of it's stereo mode... Thanks!
Sony XB30 hands down the best Speaker, just Update the Treble In the EQ. And it supports LDAC. What other speaker supports LDAC
IceColdKilax it isn’t.
The Denon sounds a lot more refined and more HiFi than the Sony without any tuning.
Still, the Sony is a nice speaker.

Wow first time I hear the JBL to sound this bad in comparison, the Denon is impressive. Good job Toni
supernova1976 thank you, yes the Denon really puts the JBL to shame.
Nicely comparison portable bluetooth speaker. Would you comparing 4 speaker together Denon Envaya with Dockin D Fine+, and both of with Anker SoundCore boost & Pro+? Thanks a lot to your effort!
You forget to set up denon on max volume, because when you turn off and turn on,volume is back to normal, everytime when you turn on denon you must pressing + button on speaker to the max, it does not remember the volume from the last time you use it
0rdreSacre that’s actually not true. It does remember your volume settings.

The new leader of its class. Even better than Vifa Reykjavik and Charge 3 and I think the most of the speakers of its size (800 g).
I hope you will be testing even other new Envayas.
Toni please post the frequency measurement chart of the speaker.
Vito Gold thank you:)
Where did you hear the Vifa and how did it sound exactly?
I’am not sure if I’ll test the others as some people claim they aren’t very great sounding.

Speaker Toni have you seen Oluv's recent Envaya review where he adressed the volume/ bass issue and the fact that the sound picture changes drastically when you lower the volume level of the soeaker. What is your experience?
Hey, what did you think of the others in the Envaya range? DSB250 is a little out of budget for me - is the DSB150 worth going for? Thanks!
is this going to be available in USA at some point? Couldn't find any info anywhere about US release....
Do you think it's worth purchasing despite the battery issues? or is it better to go with different brands (sony xb30, etc)?
i think its worth it i had it for two month, the power of its sound compensate for its battery, best played as background music or going to sleep
So your's lasted for only two months?
nope its good as of today...
Download an EQ app for your phone, then adjust to your liking. It will work.
That is the case with this speaker. Not your unit
Hey Speaker Tony. The round white sphere on your desk (Upper leftside) isent that the almighty Divalet Gold 3500w output , 5000 smackers , best money can buy ? Are you going to review it ? or is it just a dummy ?

A nice and informative review - thanks. I too think a comparison to Vifa Helsinki would be cool, despite their difference in price.
Can you pls add a buying link to the description?
Great work!!! How will you compare this envaya to Fugoo Style? Thx for this vid.
I have Fugoo style. I would say it sounds really good too, but Denon has some edge. What you can do is, use an EQ app on your phone to adjust sound of your liking.
Have you tested this vs the Charge 3 or the Sony XB30/31?? if so, what was your verdict?
Had both the xb31 and charge 3. The envaya blows them away in terms of sound quality and clarity.
denon is much underrated company ...
how is the battery in real use 80% of volume?
You have nice videos, but man, you have to do something with that expensive camera used for shooting the video...the focus is really disturbing and it will be a show stopper if you keep using it on autofocus. Put it on manual focus, use a larger F stop for deeper depth of field and you have a winner!
Denon DSB250 or B&O S3?
People on German Amazon write that it has high self-unloading rate e.g. after 10 days 2 of 5 battery points drained. Is it true?
FrantixFTW sadly that is true
what do you think jbl charge 3 upgrade connect plus is convenient
I hope there is a charge 4.
Carlos Guadiana me too
clavinetjunkie if the jbl connect app had an eq it would be better.
So far jbl is updating the lines of speakers differently. The change from charge 2 to 3 was huge and flip 3 to 4 was huge. Jannie I did yes
I am subscribed to your channel and I like your video but in this one, IMHO, you should have been speaking a little less and let the speaker sound longer.. you switched from one to the other in just too little time. Antonio Pinto more videos are coming , we like this speaker 😀
Toni do you think the new denon is better compared to b&o A1?
emmearchitect yes, I’am pretty sure
Speaker Toni which one is louder
thank you, waiting for comparison with other one!
Does it have microphone for online meeting?
Impossible to change the Battery. You can Remove the Battery. You can Not By a new one. Alibaba has no offers.
Are you going to get the JBL Link 20 at some point?
the bass is more powerful on the charge 3 , more punchy, dennon maybe clearer but not that punchy. dennon more clear on mids and highs i think. maybe seems to be more powerful on the charge 3 because its more boosted ( in the upper bas frequencies)
Maurice Frank agree with you
Exactly my opinion too. 👍
Bass of JBL is usually boomy on ALL models. Treble is sibilant. Their line is for hifi pretenders and wannabes.
Oh wow indeed!
Would you choose this over the Helsinki?
Boris Vortsman no, the Helsinki still is in another class
How does it compare to soundlink mini 2 please
Is this speaker good for house music? I listen during my bed time at around 40% and i'm worried if at low volumes it may sound flat:\
Anthony N it has low volume bass and treble compensation so don’t worry about that:)
Speaker Toni wow thanks for the ultra fast response buddy! I had a big dillema between this denon and the riva s but now i'll definitely go and order the denon! Thanks again
i listen house music all the time, and sound is so fucking excellent :)
u will enjoy ;)
"I like the JBL so much more because I like no treble in a speaker" LOL
Does the Envaya get as loud as the charge 3 ?
How does this compare to fugoo xl?
The Dennon sounds more exciting than the Reykjavik ! The Reykjavik sounds like a kitchen radio under 50% volume .
CraigIvor I have heard that there will be improved software for the Vifa soon
@@speakertoni2680 how soon 😅
I hope dsb250 will last longer than A1 and dsb100.
because you love the speakers like me, you really need to listen the Kenwood BT77 or its sibling dostyle sd806.
Antonio Pinto Is it better that Doss XL without EQ? What about the battery life and volume? Thanks!
As for insults, could it be stuff like “UE Megatrash”?
Hi. I have an iMac too. Have you tried pairing it with your iMac?
Hi Toni how would be the Denon vs Helsinki?
Come on... no comparison.
I have 2 Charge 3's and was wondering if it's worth upgrading to 2 DSB 250's. Has anyone done this upgrade and if so was it worth it.
No, Charge 3 is powerfull enough 🤗.
JBL has more battery compared to denon. The treble problem with the C3 can be solved by equalizing. I wish denon had 20+ hrs battery life coz i would favor a longer battery life than treble problems.
get Fugoo . It also has great sound and long battery hours.
Envaya has a bit too much high end. In comparisson the jbl is dull but Envaya goes to the other extreme. For me none of the two sounds balanced. I would pick the Envaya out of the two but realistically i am not buying it. Will wait for a more balanced speaker
JBL people have hearing problems. Maybe JBL seems like it has more bass but the quality goes down with higher volume.
Which one is louder the denon envaya or the ue boom 2
The UE Boom 2 should be louder, but the Denon sounds a million times better.
Denon envaya 250 vs sony xb41?
Envaya vs Soundbox XL?
Dawid Goiński Envaya
Envaya, though the Soundbox has more bass.
What about the bose revolve or revolve plus for comparison
Revolve vs SD806 vs Envaya 250 - ultimate, below 200 euro and fairly portable, speaker shootout Toni ;) :D
better
Yeah yeah it sounds soo great (...)
still I just sent mine back and kept the Bose Revolve+
Just compared it to the doss xl and no chance, the Denon sounds better.
supernova1976 you mean the denon sounds better than the Doss soundbox xl? Wow 😳
Mig K yes , choosing the same tracks from Tonis video you can compare, I know it is not perfect but you can get the general idea , the denone sounds warmer and has more substance better midds .
First! Nah just kidding. I’m only a few minutes into the video, and already likin’ it. Keep ‘em up!
Otto's Audio which one is louder
Otto's Audio thank you:)
Better than riva s?
Much better
Much Much better
Much, much, much better.
I would say Riva turbo X is better overall, and as Toni described, Envaya has great clear mids.
Grandios Speaker
It looks like the Envaya is plugged up to a power source .
good video guy👍✌👌💚😀
Angkorwat Teample thank you:)
Great video. Hi from Bali @speaker toni.
Mahardika Jaya hi:)
Thank you!
AMBAS SÃO BOAS.NA JBL CHARGE 3 O BAIXO TALVEZ SEJA UM POUCO BALOFO,EM ALGUNS TIPOS DE MUSICA,MAS NÃO DEIXA DE SER UM SPEAKER MUITO BOM
The way things kept going in and out of focus during the unboxing gave me a headache. I know it's the auto focus but maybe not the right camera (or setting) for when you're moving around so much. Other than that nice review.
Denon envaya Dsb250 vs B&O A1 Please....
Mirosław Szewc Denon wins
Why Denon is better of B&O???? i try to buy best speaker to 250$= 1000PLN what you reccomend bro?
Trust your ears to suit your preferences if you don't trust this Denon review.
What, No Rammstein?
Duúuuuu, du hast
My passive radiator has blown after 1 week of normal listening. Any one else have this issue?
Christopher Ashley-Smith
I bought the 250 when it first came out, & it didn't sound at all like the rave reviews said it would.
Not a deal killer imo, but sad given how long Denon had between the release of the two models to fix the problem.
how about compared it to bose revolve?
ambiepogita the revolve will have no chance.
ARKADIUSZ MIKINA there also might be reflections in the recording as 50% of the sound goes to the back
Ha, a fellow german. Sorry, the accent is uncanny
Johnny Pan wow, amazing!
Compare denon with real small true HiFi one! LOL please
I think Bose mini is best
Sony is the BEST
Sonu03785 well, uhm no
Nah Id keep my Charge 3 only time Denon took the lead was because you chose a sucky acoustic song. Peace
Jaime Enrique Cruz the JBL sounds like it’s broken.
But for shitty NCS recording at max volume it should do the trick.
Dennon~vs~m3
FANBOI.TRUTH.
Too much bla bla Bla and very little la la la. anyway thanks for the video.
bunch of crazy tester , JBL in my ears sounds better...
Carlos Vargas just because we have a different opinion doesn’t mean that we are crazy.
If you like it more, buy it.
JBL might sound nicer on pop/trap music i agree
Compare denon with real small true HiFi one! LOL please before complain to real audio fans
jbl 70€ less expensive, and about 2 years oldeer? therefore denon isnt that impressive
Horrible unnatural sounding bass. It’s an over priced boom box.
JBL CHARGE 3 IS BETTER THAN DENON
Prateek Manchanda NO ITS NOT
