    If you're a new trader... it's just easier to use the TP. Some high rep traders will lowball you since you trade for rep.
    Middlemen, obviously, will want to get paid, which minimizes your profit.
    As in all similar systems, being a newbie is a huge fucking pain in the ass. The "established" traders who got in first always reap the benefits. And YOU risk getting scammed since you will have to go first until you get enough of the imaginary "reputation" points.

    • @abree107
      @abree107  Год назад +2

      It is easier to use the TP, but it doesn't always yield the best profit. DLEs are a perfect example.
      You may get lowballed on certain items like infusions, but most standard items like T6 sets, ectos, and legendaries will go for standard prices. Players that have specifically targeted newer traders with bad prices have been somewhat ostracized by a lot of people for doing so and most of them aren't around anymore as a result. Generally, if someone is going to lowball you, they're going to lowball everyone, indiscriminate of reputation. And a lot of what you might experience on that front is a result of the leverage concept I touched on in this video. If I can buy ectos from 20 different people, I don't have much of an incentive to pay your asking price if I know one of the other 19 people will be willing to do better. If ectos are no longer in large surplus and there's many buyers, you would then have leverage and could demand a higher price from me because there's others that might pay it. That effect exists, regardless of reputation. If your ectos are worth the extra 1g per stack to me, you can ask for it and I will give it. The only thing the reputation does is determine who goes first, and when you're dealing with high rep players, you'll do fine. By far, the most common causes of scams are people sending their items off to someone without checking to make sure the person's Discord account and in-game account match up or sending their items off to someone that's already blacklisted without checking to see if they have any reputation on their new Discord account. If you follow the steps in the video, it's very safe, and in the very unlikely event of a scam that occurs from a high rep player going rogue, ArenaNet has historically given back items as long as their is in-game proof of the agreement.
      Trading won't be worth it for a few spare materials or oddball items, but it can help to source items more cheaply for crafting and for people wanting to sell larger price/volume items and get a little extra profit. The trading post is always an option for stuff that isn't worth the hassle to trade. I still use it on a daily basis and a bit contrary to what you might think, most of the people that got into trading early barely trade anymore because they'd rather use the TP. It sounds like trading might not be right for you, and that's fine. There's still plenty of space to make gold without it, it's simply an option.

      The skin is called Fire Pinion. The dye channels are Abyssal Sea x3 and then Electro Blue. The skin comes from the standard "Mount Adoption License". Most other sets of skins have an option to just select one for an increased price, but that set doesn't because... people?

    • @abree107
      @abree107  Год назад +1

      There will not be in game trading in this game, because if the entire community did it, it could cause an issue with the gold supply growing to be too large. GW2 takes a horizontal progression system and adds a slightly deflationary economy to make things consistent and accessible for players over time. The only way 1 window trading could be implemented into GW2 is if they put a decent tax on it, and at that point it would still just make rep based trading through mail better by comparison.

      @Carlos-tz6es 2 года назад

      How do you make cash clearly

    • @abree107
      @abree107  2 года назад

      I'm not sure what you mean by PO in this context (the only things that come to mind for me are purchase order and post office), but I'm going to assume you're referring to raw gold so correct me if I'm wrong in that assumption.
      The first thing that I didn't really cover in this video, but is important for heavy traders, is to take advantage of the 500g mail cap. Just because it's limited to 500g doesn't mean you shouldn't use it for that 500g if you can. When I was more heavily trading, my mail was capped for 70ish weeks straight. It's a consistent method of accessing raw gold while also getting good value for items and not risking any listings. Beyond that and a few tiny trickles of raw gold from the game, most of it DOES come from the trading post. The first thing you learn in trading is how to save gold or mitigate risk by avoiding the TP. The second thing you learn is how to use the TP again. It's got its place and in some cases it can even be better than trading. Take the example of the legendary from the video. If you can take on the risk and want raw gold instead of materials, you can forego trading it out for materials and instead list it on the TP. The upside is you'll be able to fully liquidate into gold. The downside is that it could get stuck or you could be eating a loss. Those upsides and downsides look way different to someone with 2.5k liquid gold than they do to someone with 100k liquid gold. Learning how to compare the TP and trading in different situations is really the hard part and that's where you can go and ask people for their opinions. If I have more ectos than I need, I'm saving those for trading. If I have more darksteel ingots than I need, I'm going to list them on the TP. For a new trader, it might not be apparent why I'd make those decisions. The bottom line though is if you scale up past a certain point of cash flow, you will NEED to list certain items on the TP for raw gold, you just want to figure out which ones are better to do that with vs. trade them out player-to-player.
      I happen to have a lot of methods I've developed to liquidate items to gold while limiting any losses, cuts to profit, and risk. I've also not been trading or gold-making in general much recently (which makes the conspiracy theories about my videos on Reddit even more hilarious), so I've slowly gone further and further toward liquidating all of my unneeded items. Combine this with me being a heavy TP flipper and the raw gold is just going to be more valuable if I decide to go hard back into gold-making in the future.

      @@Carlos-tz6es In the future I might make a flipping series on a fresh account. I did it a while back and scrapped it for several reasons. To be honest, I don't think many people would actually care to watch that sort of thing. GW2BLTC.com already shows buy and sell prices with the profit you would make if you flipped it. There's also graphs of how many actually buy and sell so you can see which orders actually complete and which ones are just unrealistic. So no plans currently to make a flipping demo video, but I've done it before and it could happen again in the future.

      ArenaNet doesn't want to facilitate trading on a large scale. In the even a scam occurs, they will return items if you have adequate evidence, but they also won't introduce an in-game system for it because they want most players to use the trading post.

  • @jasminej9553

    How many scammed ppl do you know that got help from Anet when scammed with vid/screenshot?
    I thought they don't deal or involve themselves with this.

    • @abree107
      @abree107  2 года назад +2

      I personally only know 1 person that's been scammed and ArenaNet gave them back the precursor they had been trying to sell. I know more cases where people have wrongfully gotten dirty items on their accounts from someone else scamming or RMTing that have usually ended in refunds or the person being allowed to keep the items after a chat with support. They definitely have involved themselves in it, but not every case ends the same. That might be a question that's better for Overflow mods, they've seen that stuff more than I have. If I actually know someone, they've usually been pretty well informed on staying safe and if they're willing to actually talk to veterans, a lot of the time we can hook them up with a referral so they're dealing with someone reputable.
      The one thing I can say is if you've just got a screenshot of a Discord DM with the person, ArenaNet will do nothing for you. If you've got in-game proof they tend to be pretty good about handling things. Again, it's a pretty rare occurrence for someone to be scammed and nowadays the most common cause seems to be people sending their items to an account that's already blacklisted and they've just neglected to check. I'd just rather people take 10 seconds to pop open OBS and cover themselves.

    • @EngineScypex
      @EngineScypex 2 года назад

      Yes, it's not guaranteed that Anet will help you. Possible but not guaranteed.
      But if you actually got scammed, you want the scammer being known for being a scammer, you want him on the blacklist so he at least paid a price for it.
      But if you just say to the mods in Discord "xy scammed me", do you think that's enough for them to actually delete the reputition and put them on the blacklist? I don't think so.
      Also if the person you're trading with knows that you record everything and have proof, it's more likely you're not getting scammed.
