When they announced the departure with Josh, this was the first thing I thought of. I don't think I've seen a moment like that between John and Flea; Josh seems like such a sweet guy. After reading that Rolling Stone interview, it's easy to see that he's doing his best to tell himself he's okay, but he's definitely having a really hard time. I feel so bad for him.

Here we go again, nearly 11 years later and people are comparing Josh to John. No one will ever replace John. Josh has his own style and holds his own. If you do not like Josh’s style of playing, no one is forcing you to listen to him. There are thousands of rock bands and very very few ever hold on to original players.
Not going to lie... I was always one of those assholes who hated on anyone who would take Johns place... I gave him a chance though and god damnit... The band is still very damn good with this guy. He's super caring and nice you can't hate him. He's very talented too. He might not be the insane guitarist that John is but he can play a wider variety of instruments and brings a lot of new vibes to the group. The last 2 albums are very fun too sooo... What's to hate right?
Josh can't hold John's jock strap. Josh's guitar playing doesn't take you anywhere it's just meaningless noodling and noise. Wheres John played such beautiful melodies.
Not just Josh's affection, Flea is a true professional that won't dissapoint fans so easily. But I'm sure they're very good friends, they trust each other, and Josh seems such a nice, sweet, cool, kind and GOOD person ♥
Fair play to both Josh and Chad for keeping it together: I’ve often wondered how bands manage to carry on when someone goes off piste (like Jim Morrison/Perry Farrel etc)
I can see why he'd have a soft spot for Josh because for the longest time in the band, Chad was surrounded by people who acted like divas now and then.
If you watch carefully at 2.07, you'll see Anthony pointing out to Flea that he has failed to put his in-ear monitors into his ears...which is why he can't hear his bass clearly. No fault on the part of the audio crew, just Flea being a space cadet.
This is one of the principle reasons why they are such a long-term successful band. Very successful people are all about community and teamwork. Very mediocre people are all about themselves...
Josh is a beast! Sucks that we'll never hear the album they were preparing to make. I'm trying really hard not to be mad at the RHCP for just ousting him. Nothing wrong with some funky dueling guitars.

Something that bugs me is why they don't keep 2 guitarists in the band?? I'm sure that's place for both... they worked before together in Frusciante's songs and in many RHCP shows. Why oh why can't an album have 2 guitars?? (And how awesome that would sound?!?!)

I never liked josh, maybe because john already established a "signature" sound for rhcp that made replacements sound awkward.. When you hear the voice you know its Anthony, when you hear the thumping bass and drums you know its rhcp, when josh came in, the signature sound "isn't too rhcp" even if i didn't know they changed guitarists, there is a specific sound about john you can perceive that "that" sound is for sure the sound of "rhcp", that said, i think i can understand why or what flea rants about, contrary to majority fans opinion, i never liked josh, its a tough job replacing john's "sound"
Flea got frustrated because his bass wasn’t working right and just wanted to make sure the fans enjoyed the show. Then Josh him back down and once Flea had a working bass in his hands he gets lost in the music and forgot about everything else
