Personally I think the b-sides should have been the album and most of the album should have been the b-sides.
I wish Josh had one more album. I enjoyed what he did with the band. He helped break a sound rut I could the the chilis tuning into. Gave them all a new perspective. Also the Josh era help return them to making a cohesive album and not just a collection of single and other songs. Albums with deep cuts. I appreciate that man.
The Peppers with Josh did create another album, it was shelved. Hope to hear it...or maybe the next generation will be able to hear it when it is released. Play it loud for me when I'm in the great beyond.
I’ve heard josh say he specifically tried to play things that weren’t in the ‘frusciante realm’ which I can’t imagine how hard that must’ve been. Knowing now how stifled he felt, the fact he still dug deep and found such uniquely beautiful and interesting melodies demonstrates the depth of his soul. Which, again, I can’t imagine ALSO being able to do that while constantly being compared and reminded that he was not his predecessor. He has built a tremendous pedigree and the company he keeps value him like beloved family member. Dot Hacker, Pearl Jam, Gnarls Barkley, Pluralone, Bob Forrest-such tremendous collaborations.
RHCP is a band you know, if you are not Frusciante, you should expect that you are only there until he decides to come back. The same with other bands like Limp Bizkit and Wes Borland, and from what Josh said, he was always aware of that, and had no problem with it.
Bob Forrest is the secret Frank Zappa of that generation. If you jammed with him, you went somewhere. Josh is so talented and honestly the Peppers did not deserve him because he didn't have their full hearts, he was an after thought in retrospect but it was the same ideal that happened with Dave Navarro. John should lose his ego and play some of the greater songs from the times he wasnt in. (and i am a lifelong huge fan of the chili peppers but honestly Josh deserved better)
I always felt the hate towards Josh was unwarranted. I'll admit, when he joined the RHCP, I was fairly upset due to the fact that he basically replaced John Frusciante. After sometime, I grew to appreciate his talents. He was probably the next best thing to John. He really kept the peppers alive, even helping Kiedis w/ lyrics when he forgot the lyrics. The dude was dedicated to the band, probably more so than Frusciante ever was. The way he was abruptly kicked out of the band was unprofessional, to say the least.

Sad to see Josh leave after his last album, and I’ve been a John/Hendrix fan forever. Blood Sugar Sex Magic and The Getaway are my two favorites of the band. Hard not to add the Californication album.
I can't love josh, he butchered and ruined a lot of Frusciantes great work. Always seemed more concerned with jumping around on stage as much as he could instead of playing well. For shantae could easily do both at the same time but Josh was a sloppy bad replacement very much greater guitarist than he can ever dream to be. I'm in stadium arcadium was a masterpiece. They will never top it. Can you even try to imagine Josh pulling off something as incredible as stadium arcadium was? He literally does not have the skill to pull off even half of the amazing guitar work that was all over that double album.
I had the honor of getting to see him play alongside Jane's Addiction, and Smashing Pumpkins when they toured together recently. He was in the area, and heard they were gonna be playing a concert, and he asked if he could come be the guitarist. They agreed, and I gotta say. Hearing Jane's Addiction, and Smashing Pumpkins songs played in the style of his guitar was out of this world. It was a borderline psychedelic experience. It was in a closed arena too, so the sound was like right in your ear. It was one of the best live performances I've ever listened to.
I actually saw Josh open for Pearl Jam in Toronto a month ago and I loved it, he’s definitely a killer guitarist and I still think that he did a great job taking over for John
@@andrewburke4069 Definitely, I still love that there was someone in the audience that wanted him to play Under the Bridge and Josh referred to as "Under the Bridge Guy" for the rest of his set. Great sense of humour from the guy, plus still a damn good player
Same in QC! Wife n i are from the pj rhcp Era, old n outta touch, didn't know there was an "opening act" but a great surprise. And getting to hear him, McCREADY and Ed n the boys play Purple Rain was very special to me. So great!
I need to preface my reply with two things. First, I was at the Toronto PJ show too. Second, I am not a Klinghoffer hater. Okay, with that out of the way: I thought Josh's set at that show sucked. The sound was awful for one thing, but the playing and singing was just super inconsistent and boring. I wasn't really familiar with Pluralone prior to the show, so I watched some videos both before and after the concert, and confirmed that what I had witnessed was pretty consistent with his other performances. I like what he did in the Chilis, and on John's solo albums, but man... Pluralone just doesn't do it for me.
@@hinjurock70 Why do you tell me “lame”? It’s not as if it’s my saying. I’m just letting them know that’s what the guy doing these RUclips videos says that it stands for.
Josh kept the band going. They definitely explored a different sound on both albums. His playing grew on me a lot. I got to hear Aeroplane live because that wouldn’t happen with John.
Agreed. Anyone or anything that relied completely on JF would have been taking a huge risk (amazing guitarist though he is). The world needs reliable people. That fact that JK is 100% reliable and also a superb and original guitarist saved the band. Flea would never have played with someone who wasn’t an incredible musician or capable of becoming one. In fact, he took a bigger gamble with JF (originally) than he ever did with JK, though perhaps even he was surprised by where JF got to.
@@jackhargreaves1911 When Anthony and Flea accepted John in the band, John was only I think 18 years old, while Josh had already established himself as a musician by the point he got accepted into RHCP. (I know you know this, but this is for people that do not know).
For me, Josh was exactly what a replacement musician should be; energetic, passionate, and entirely unique in his style... much as I prefer the new songs with John overall (especially Aquatic Mouth Dance and Bella), Josh-era songs like Dreams Of A Samurai, We Turn Red, Ethiopia, the Getaway title track, and Goodbye Angels all stand very proudly alongside John, Dave, and even the extraordinary Hillel's contributions to RHCP!!
Josh Klinghoffer is not just one of my favorite guitarists, but one of my favorite musicians ever. he's so versatile and so incredibly talented, I'm glad he's moved on past the chilis, he got so much hate and he was so restricted in the band
Josh is a phenomenal musician on several instruments. I love his original material, his material with John Frusciante, and his covers. Every time I hear him cover Jeff Buckley, I swoon and melt. I hope to hear some new original material soon.
I saw Josh with the chili peppers at Coachella in 2013 and he was unbelievably good. He absolutely rips and you can tell it's effortless for him. Def one of the only people who could've properly fill John's shoes
I always felt this way. I was PISSED when John left but after hearing the first album with Josh I quickly stfu and gave him the respect he deserves. He can tickle those strings just like John.
I have a huge appreciation towards Josh! The Getaway has some of the greatest RHCP songs, for instance Encore or Goodbye Angels. And then there's Police Station from the I'm With You album, which, to me, is in the top 10 of RHCP songs. Josh's guitar playing contributed a lot to the vibe of these songs. I had the luck to see them during the Getaway tour, and I'm so sorry that we probably never hear any of these songs live again.
So glad that someone has made a proper video about this. Klinghoffer is my biggest inspiration on guitar, but the guy does not get anywhere near the respect he deserves. The Getaway is an album that I would say completely changed my life. His solo works with Dot Hacker are absolutely amazing too, Eye Opener is one of the most beautiful songs out there.
Here's my story time about Josh: I met him outside a coffee shop in Toronto while he was on tour with Pearl Jam. I recognize him and go up to him to say hi, "So you're with Def Leppard now?" He was super nice about it and laughed it off while I wanted the ground to swallow me up right then and there 😂🤦🏻♀️
They should be, but the guys are assholes. They kicked Josh out - he didn't want to leave and feels bad about it. If you go back, they've always treated other guitarists who were meant to fill in for John or even Hilel like that. It's a shame, because I can only imagine how cool both guitarists would sound together playing off of one another.
@@superwong6601 I totally get that. Some bands are just meant to be 1 guitar bands. For the Chili Peppers, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Having 2 guitars probably upsets the balance with Flea on bass.

Each guitarist learned from the ones before them, John from Hillel, Dave and Josh from John and Hillel. They kept the spirit of the band to where you couldn't say any 2 albums sounded the same. I have alot of love for all members of this band.
If you like this solo, I encourage you to check the the live at the pyramids version! They both work on the same idea, but the live version have a kinda more energetic and raw feel. Anyway, good to see someone who appreciate Josh's work! Personally, when i discovered music and the RHCP, it was Josh and not John that was the guitarist. Now I love them both as musician.
Josh also played drums and guitar with Pearl Jam... Watching his solo on Alive just proves the guy is highly talented and really knows how to play and adapt. Frusciante is my favorite guitar player in RHCP for all he has done... But It cant be denied that JK is a genius who knows how to fit in different musical high profile scenarios
I can honestly say this is the most underrated song of all time. I love frusciante but the getaway is such a gem of an album and it doesn’t get talked about as much as I think it should
@@joelneville1607 The Getaway is such a vibe of an album, it might not be the main RHCP sound, but I think it made them more appealing to younger listeners like myself, and eventually dig into their older stuff which I never get tired of listening to. To be honest I'm not a fan of that song but the intro and I believe it's played again in the end ... It's just on another level, head to head with the most incredible intros ever up there with under the bridge, also "long progression" my god ... Those chords are incredible and how the song develops! Josh did some work that is just amazing, shame that people still say bad things about his ability and skills
The intro is out of this world, maybe one of the best of all time. If it would be on another album and by Frusciante it would have got the appreciation it earns.
I was a big fan of Josh when I heard him on Shadows Collide with People. I mean, his credits on that record are the same as John’s: Vocal, Guitar, Bass, Synthesizers, Keyboards & Percussion. Also loved his playing with Bob Forrest on the Bicycle Thief record.
They were Peppers at the same time. In 2007, Klinghoffer played with Red Hot Chili Peppers on the final few legs of their Stadium Arcadium tour. There are videos on RUclips.

Check out Shadows collide with people, A Spere in the Heart of Silence, Inside of Emptiness, Curtains, Automatic Writing, Going inside, the Empyrean, The Will to Death, and many more plus live performances. The only thing I'm sorry about is that they haven't continued to play together, was such a fruitful and awasome creative team! I hope they will get back to it sometime.

A few years ago, when i first discovered the Chili Peppers, Josh was on and they had just released The Getaway. I was FLOORED. It had all the sounds i love the most from the history of the band and it just had that gorgeous, classic RHCP aesthetic. Josh Klinghoffer not only inspired me to broaden my horizon and write music but he also inspired this profile's name.
Josh is amazing. John is one of my favorites of all time. I understand why they go out of their way to accommodate him, but I thought Josh did an amazing job at the shows I saw with him. He's a fantastic musician
Love this video. Klinghoffer is one of my favorite guitarists. I can’t put my finger on it, but his playing has always hit my emotions so hard. Still love listening to all his songs
Josh has probably the biggest influence on my guitar playing… I’m assuming lots of people either read the title and absolutely agreed or a lot of people rushed to ambush without actually watching… very good video and absolutely agree with you buddy !
I actually really love that acronym you came up with, and love hearing the love you’ve got for Josh. He’s earned some appreciation to come in and help make his own mark on the RHCP
if you want more of josh, they had an unreleased album back in 2013 called I'm beside you. It has insane josh riffs like the one in This is the kitt. You should definitely check it out :))
I always thought Josh was a perfect fit and a great addition. Excellent multi-instrumentalist musician, John's understudy, knew all the licks and then some. Brought something extra to the band then just being the guy who played guitar.
He is a really great speaker and guitar teacher. This video was really pleasing and helpful. He sure does also take really great care of his instruments. They are polished up! Thank you for the lesson.
Did I Let You Know is one of the most underrated riffs by Josh Klinghoffer, alongside with Universally Speaking(yeah, a Frusciante guitar riff is underrated).
Kinda echoing what a lot of people have said here, I'm really glad Frusciante is back with the Chili Peppers but I'm also really glad I got to see them once with Klinghoffer. We might never hear Sick Love, The Longest Wave, Dark Necessities, and other songs from that era performed live again, but I think they're some of the band's best.

Great video! I love both John's and Josh's playing/writing on RHCP albums, but especially on their solo efforts and collaborations like Shadows Collide With People, The Will To Death, A Sphere In The Heart Of Silence, and Ataxia's Automatic Writing.
Longer vids are great, you keep killing it with this channel. Dark Necessities has been a nonstop track for me since finding out about it for the first time recently. Your breakdown makes it feel like more than just a guilty pleasure 😊 and on top of the breakdown/storytelling also appreciate you chipping away at the negativity around appreciating guitar players, elitism in this space is rampant and desperately needs an alternative like this. Nothing wrong with enjoying different things without tearing someone/something else down!
I personally love Josh's playing. I admit it took a while to understand what people meant when they compared Josh and John, since i wasnt much of a guitar player at the time, and they do have different ways of playing, but I think that Josh also has something special in his playing and some of his parts are beautiful.
Never got to see Josh with the Chili Peppers, but I did get the opportunity to see him with Jane's Addiction. And let me tell you this, he is one of the greatest guitar players I've ever seen live, and I've seen a lot of the greats. He not only took Dave Navarro's riffs and played him note-for-note but he was also able to improvise and throw a little bit of himself in there and it was a little chunk of guitar Heaven I'll tell you. Didn't know much about Josh's work before that, but based on that single performance he will go down as one of the best guitarists I've ever seen live and in my opinion one of the best guitar players alive
I've never understood the hate that Josh gets just because he replaced John, always seemed kinda petty. Also, I'm still at the beginning of my music theory journey, but I love videos like this. You have a pretty great way of explaining things, so even someone like me who knows the make-up of a chord but doesn't quite know how to apply that in the wider sense of music can understand. Also just wanted to say I've enjoyed both your longer form videos as well as your shorter skit styles videos! keep 'em coming!
klinghoffer is prolly my musical inspiration, his voice, his talent for every instrument he plays, his techniques to solos, everything. he’s incredible. his solo work is great too.
Man I'm glad you made this video! I'm with you is such a brilliant record, it has got so much energy, brilliant riffs, the funk, the melodies that the peppers are known for with a bit of a more modern aproach! Really underrated album and really underrated guitar player
Man, I love your whole demeanor and the way you talk and carry yourself. Found myself enjoying to listen to you. You vaguely remind me of someone I’ve never met. If that makes sense at all. Nice video! Loved the twist of actually rightfully praising Josh. Was so funny and true.
I wish he had stayed In the peppers after frusciante's return, It would have been so cool for all 5 of them to make an album together in a new formation
Thank you for helping me appreciate this cool lick in a way I had not before.. Great breakdown with some theory without making it boring.. Good job! RCHP rocks!
Imagine having to fill in for a top 20 of all times guitar player at age 28 with a band that has been working on a way of working in a studio since he was 5. John is the better fit, but ‘Encore’ and ‘Did I Let You Know’ are classics in my book.
Just saw the footage today. My god he didn’t even slow down at a pedestrian crossing, he was going so fast he couldn’t even keep to the inner lane, almost looked like he was speeding up. Got out, took a look at the guy and ran straight back to his car. Apparently he didn’t even offer any help to the family. Completely self absorbed PoS.
I think the best everybody was expecting from Josh was to emulate John as close as possible but they made two beautiful records with a very own character together. The Getaway is a real gem.
Exactly... Josh is up there with William Duvall of AIC as my favourite replacement musician in a large-scale band because neither of them tries to be the person (Frusciante and Layne Staley respectively) they fill or have filled in for!!
I really dig The Getaway problably because Josh Klinghoffer playing. It felt fresh and sounded diferent from their last albums. The guy really needs some recognition IMO. BTW Goodbye Angels is my fav from that album! =)
I appreciate the fact you admit to not knowing certain things and still confess to not being able to play everything! I am always intimidated by guitar RUclips and it makes me feel like less of a guitarist. Great video man, really enjoying the content. You have inspired me to maybe start making some content… I’ve been waiting to become a “good enough player” to do that lol.
I think the Josh albums are some of the Peppers' best. With the arrival of Josh came a new, fresh sound which was great for such a seasoned band. I agree, Sick Love is my favorite Getaway riff.
Everybody respects and appreciates Josh for keeping the band alive. But the problem is his guitar work was never connected to Flea´s bass work as well as Johns. They sounded like two separate things. The beauty of John/Flea is how their instruments fuse together to create this intricate minimalistic melodies
“Everybody respects and appreciates Josh for keeping the band alive” That’s not even close to being true. Josh got so much undeserved hatred from John Frusciante fanboys throughout his time in RHCP.
The solo melody over the chorus of Raindance Maggie is one of the best examples of 'playing with feel'. That same style is also heard on the sick love solo, the chord arrangements for both songs give it a both dreary and optimistic vibe at once
Josh did an amazing job filling in for Frusciante... but if you dive into live performances a little more, you'll see Frustrate is on another planet compared to Josh. John's backing vocals are unmatched. Watch the Live at Slane Castle concert if you haven't. And watch any live performances of Scar tissue. John absolutely rips on the 3 solos of that song
Josh Klinghoffer is extremely under appreciated. I highly encourage everyone to listen to the song Kaly that was leaked. It was a song that was removed from the Getaway. I will never understand why they removed that song because to me it is Josh and the chilis at their best during that particular era.

@@greenleaf4127 this is one of my favorites concerts from Stadium Arcadium Tour
@@TorrentFiend10Stadium Arcadium is a bloated mess of an album. I lot of great songs, but also a ton of mindless filler crap.
When a music snob like Billy Corgan lets you play with the Pumpkins on short notice (kinda), you know you're already at THAT level.
I actually saw Josh open for Pearl Jam in Toronto a month ago and I loved it, he’s definitely a killer guitarist and I still think that he did a great job taking over for John
He was fantastic at that show
@@andrewburke4069 Definitely, I still love that there was someone in the audience that wanted him to play Under the Bridge and Josh referred to as "Under the Bridge Guy" for the rest of his set.
@@canadianmaple09 I can understand that. I was more impressed by his ability to kinda karaoke, to sound so similar to other singers
Yeeeaaahhh there's gonna be different reasons for this title now
😂

Lame.
@@hinjurock70 Why do you tell me “lame”? It’s not as if it’s my saying. I’m just letting them know that’s what the guy doing these RUclips videos says that it stands for.

And I was just saying that acronym is lame.
Josh is absolutely freaking incredible. RCHP material was so interesting and fresh with his writing.
In fact, he took a bigger gamble with JF (originally) than he ever did with JK, though perhaps even he was surprised by where JF got to.
jealous
@@jackhargreaves1911
When Anthony and Flea accepted John in the band, John was only I think 18 years old, while Josh had already established himself as a musician by the point he got accepted into RHCP.
(I know you know this, but this is for people that do not know).
Oh shit. I didn’t realize they played OHM stuff with Josh
aeroplane was Dave Navarro
Man IS a dope drummer as well..
Man IS a dope drummer as well..
Josh is a phenomenal musician on several instruments. I love his original material, his material with John Frusciante, and his covers. Every time I hear him cover Jeff Buckley, I swoon and melt. I hope to hear some new original material soon.
He is easily one of the most underrated guitarists ever. I’m glad RHCP fans like him too. Frusciante purists like him too for a reason!
I saw Josh with the chili peppers at Coachella in 2013 and he was unbelievably good. He absolutely rips and you can tell it's effortless for him. Def one of the only people who could've properly fill John's shoes
Next vid suggestion: " Why Guitar Players LOVE Mike Cole "
Ah yes someone who doesn't really watch Mike's videos.
Because he speaks a lot and it’s funny
Easy answer. Because he’s freaking awesome
Lol
Im assuming you texted the number in your comments after reading this
Ironically, Frusciante and Klingerhoffer working together on the The Empyrean is mind blowing.
Ataxia I a good album
So glad that someone has made a proper video about this. Klinghoffer is my biggest inspiration on guitar, but the guy does not get anywhere near the respect he deserves. The Getaway is an album that I would say completely changed my life. His solo works with Dot Hacker are absolutely amazing too, Eye Opener is one of the most beautiful songs out there.
That’s beautiful:) such an inspiring artist 😊
Well said , Sam
Here's my story time about Josh: I met him outside a coffee shop in Toronto while he was on tour with Pearl Jam. I recognize him and go up to him to say hi, "So you're with Def Leppard now?"
He was super nice about it and laughed it off while I wanted the ground to swallow me up right then and there 😂🤦🏻♀️
Really loving the breakdown videos and the appreciation for Josh! In a perfect world, I wish John AND Josh could be in the band.
No lmao. In a perfect world RHCP is just flea, AK, JF, and CS
@@superwong6601 I totally get that. Some bands are just meant to be 1 guitar bands. For the Chili Peppers, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Having 2 guitars probably upsets the balance with Flea on bass.
@@silverman169 josh is a fantastic and amazing musician but I honesty won’t worry about his feelings when it comes to my enjoyment of my favorite band ever. Something about the flea and frusciante connection is untouchable IMO
@@silverman169 yeah man. Two guitars in rhcp is weird. The solos work with no rhythm guitar because it perfectly locks into the grooves of the bass lines. The space in between all the instruments makes rhcp special imo. Can’t let it get cluttered
Frusciante = genius
Klinghoffer = not genius
Hope this helps your confusion.
The song "The Longest Wave" is one of the best Chili Pepper's guitarwork. And the riff belongs to Josh
I sometimes even wonder what a third album with Josh would have sounded like..
The intro of The Longest Wave is just soooo good
The intro is out of this world, maybe one of the best of all time.
Also loved his playing with Bob Forrest on the Bicycle Thief record.
my exact thoughts...I first saw Josh at the glass house playing with the bicycle thief. Seen him in all his other bands since
Sick Love is one of my favorite RHCP song. I love both Josh and Fru. If only they can be both in the Chili's at the same time, that would be great.
They were Peppers at the same time. In 2007, Klinghoffer played with Red Hot Chili Peppers on the final few legs of their Stadium Arcadium tour. There are videos on RUclips.
I've always dug Sick Love too
Well surprise: John Frusciante and Josh Klinghoffer did several albums together, some as Ataxia.
Frusciante is my favorite musician ever, but I also absolutely adore Josh's solo work as Pluralone and with Dot Hacker
Josh was the guy who saved RHCP. And I don't know why nowadays with Fruchiante RHCP doesn't play the hits from the Klinghoffer era
Because he's a fucking diva. And that's coming from a lifelong, die hard RHCP and JF fan
His Solo albums are absolutely incredible some of the most wild and imaginitive soundscapes, he doesn't care he just makes it.
Hey Mike,
I just want to say that I really appreciate the way you're evolving into the RUclipsr/publisher that you want to become. You're smart, you articulate yourself well and you know how to build up the point that you're trying to get across. The way you explain things makes me feel like I'm having drinks with my friends breaking down our favorite riffs and songs.
Keep up the good work. You're a breath of fresh air in a world full of cluttered videos that are just created for shock and hits.
He's good at hitting things hard.
Aged well
if you want more of josh, they had an unreleased album back in 2013 called I'm beside you. It has insane josh riffs like the one in This is the kitt. You should definitely check it out :))
Get it, I’m B-side you. Better than the album itself. The Getaway, though, easily the most under appreciated RHCP album.
@@andrewscott1538 One Hot Minute.

@@andrewscott1538 totally man. Detroit goes crazy hard.
I always thought Josh was a perfect fit and a great addition. Excellent multi-instrumentalist musician, John's understudy, knew all the licks and then some. Brought something extra to the band then just being the guy who played guitar.
"This is the Kitt" from the Pepper's b side album is a funky riff, one of his best
I love josh. He and John were jam buddies so of course he picked up some John's technique
dark necessities is one of my all time favotire rhcp songs, though by the way is my all time favorite album. were lucky enough to watch rhcp once in istanbul, their one ever apperance in Turkey. when i visited usa in 2001, rhcp featured at a venue but i couldnt attend because i was younger than 21 at the time. so i never watched frusciante live. So thank you Josh, they were great with you too :D

i LOVE Josh klinghoffer, such a special decade that will have a special place in my heart. Amazing video and happy someone else shares this take!
i agree with you bro, josh is a great guy with a huge heart, josh was saving the band while jonh was playing on those synths 🎸🔥
Frusciante / Klinggoffer / Lally did two albums together back in '04 & '07 as a band called Ataxia. Automatic Writing I and II. Listened to these on repeat for extended periods. Hope this finds at least one person who hadn't heard them!
You are a godsend.
Josh was also on John's solo album Shadows Collide with People, as was Chad Smith. Flea was on one song too. It's one of my favourite albums.
I love Josh and John so much! Ataxia needs to make a comeback
Goodbye Angel is where I fell in love with Josh Klinghoffer's guitar playing. That ending riff after the bass break down is chef's kiss.
Not only is Josh a brilliant guitar player, he's also a brilliant musician that plays many instruments.
Thanks for breaking that history into simple story. I myself am also diving into pepper's guitarist history. And I am like you, falling in love with both. By the way, you're also amazing with the guitar. I hope you make it big yourself my man.🤘
Loving these long form Mayer/RHCP vids - would also dig some more content on their influences (especially Hendrix and SRV)
So glad you mentioned “Sick Love” towards the end. Everything about that song is excellent.
I just achieved a level which I can play RHCP riffs couple months ago and I can't stop learning and playing Frusciante riffs (same goes for Josh, I adore both of them) Completely agree on your words on Frusciante.
Hell yeah man
Great video!
Keep making these. You're good at it. The shorts are funny, but you have the intelligence to make long format videos interesting.
Your initial assessment of Fruciante all those years ago was correct.
I'm Beside You is full of awesome Josh's guitar work and I recommend everyone to give it a listen.
love your attitude, makes me only want to watch teachers because your appreciation of both John and Josh is so appropriate and in-depth
Dark necessities is one of my favorite solos. It’s a blast to play and sounds so cool.
I fully agree with you. Josh is incredible
Josh inspires me so much to play ! He is a very colorful player. love him!
Why people hate click bait titles and won't watch because of it.
Because he doesn't look where he is driving. ...too soon?
Just saw the footage today. My god he didn’t even slow down at a pedestrian crossing, he was going so fast he couldn’t even keep to the inner lane, almost looked like he was speeding up. Got out, took a look at the guy and ran straight back to his car. Apparently he didn’t even offer any help to the family. Completely self absorbed PoS.
This is TOTALLY fine in Pearl Jam. Just don't like guns, THEN you'll get FIRED 😂😂😂
I think the best everybody was expecting from Josh was to emulate John as close as possible but they made two beautiful records with a very own character together. The Getaway is a real gem.
Exactly... Josh is up there with William Duvall of AIC as my favourite replacement musician in a large-scale band because neither of them tries to be the person (Frusciante and Layne Staley respectively) they fill or have filled in for!!
love the relaxed and informative content man, been fun watching you as I get back on my Ibanez after a couple years 👌👌
I really dig The Getaway problably because Josh Klinghoffer playing. It felt fresh and sounded diferent from their last albums. The guy really needs some recognition IMO. BTW Goodbye Angels is my fav from that album! =)
Really loving the longer form videos!!
I love Josh for helping to keep Elliott Smith's music alive.
Phew!
What you did there at 4:40, with the acronym, that's dope. Putting some love on that word.
Bless your soul, and keep on rockin' and rollin' \m/
Everybody respects and appreciates Josh for keeping the band alive. But the problem is his guitar work was never connected to Flea´s bass work as well as Johns. They sounded like two separate things. The beauty of John/Flea is how their instruments fuse together to create this intricate minimalistic melodies
“Everybody respects and appreciates Josh for keeping the band alive”
That’s not even close to being true. Josh got so much undeserved hatred from John Frusciante fanboys throughout his time in RHCP.
Tf, The Getaway is by far better than the last 2 albums lol Quality > Quantity
Thanks man we both not only like the same musicians but the same songs. I heart dark necessities and sick love
The solo melody over the chorus of Raindance Maggie is one of the best examples of 'playing with feel'. That same style is also heard on the sick love solo, the chord arrangements for both songs give it a both dreary and optimistic vibe at once
You beautifully broke it down. So cool to see the music scaffolding.
Those slane scar tissue solos are the most emotional solos I've ever heard. I can hear the anguish and loss of addiction in it.
Josh Klinghoffer is extremely under appreciated. I highly encourage everyone to listen to the song Kaly that was leaked. It was a song that was removed from the Getaway. I will never understand why they removed that song because to me it is Josh and the chilis at their best during that particular era.
Oh hell nah 💀💀💀
I dig the longer breakdown format mate, good work
