I love how John looks like a gas station attendant you may not want to talk to, and Flea looks like a guy maybe hanging outside the same gas station who you really don’t want to talk to, but in the end, they’re so lovable and work together like few others.
These guys have the most amazing instinct with each other’s musical vibe, when you can just jam forever and it gets better and better. Me and my younger brother had that, he was the best bassist I’ve ever played with, he could predict where I was going on the drums and vice versa. I miss him every day, R.I.P. Jonny Boy.

Seriously I’d pay good money to see a whole concert of them just riffing and jamming out ! Josh K was and is a great guitarist but you can see why the band brought John back into the fold as soon as he was ready to play again . The chemistry between John and Flea is the very reason for the RHCP’s success IMO. These partnerships don’t come around often! And they are easily on the same playing field as Lennon & McCartney
We just saw them in concert at the Levi's Stadium last week. To say it was a dream come true is an understatement. It was so surreal. It was my first concert in my life and I drove six hours to see them 😜. Seeing John and Flea improvising and just doing their thing was the best. RHCP is so amazing. 🤩
I was at the same concert and that was my very first concert. I have an awesome time, loved their music so much I was standing and lost my voice from singing and screaming so much. The people behind me and my family were grumpy because they didn’t like everyone standing and having fun.

I’ve been trying to explain to people that they’re not just a band to me. Their music means something else. People think I’m insane because I spent a ludicrous amount of money to get tickets for all the U.K. gigs next year, but it’s not like it’s just another concert. I cant get anyone to understand!!
Modulus for all the melodic stuff, Stingray for the funk. I have a black Musicman that Looks just like one I recently saw him playing in a bass dvd he did with Rivers Phoenix - I’d have to say I overall prefer Stingrays to the Modulus
he got the fender money though, can’t come back.. plus fender will do what they can to make flea’s own models have characteristics of the modulus and whatever suits him
Chad hits one hat and all three instantly change and start grooving. Love seeing a band that's on the same frequency. The jam wasn't one of my favorites but that immediate switch is what makes those three special when they're together.

Depending on the singer, he might use the 5-15 minutes to sit down and hydrate, snort fat lines of coke, screw a floozy, or actually lay some cable. 🤷♂️ This was what EVH's Eruption was all about. He'd always extend it , live, and add some more cigarette burn relic to his headstock, while Diamond Dave added similar damage to his nasal canal enjoying Option "B" from the menu above.

Slash would only do the Godfather theme live...great lead phrasing in it - I just learnt it the other week- but that's why he'd play it live, all the while you never hear it in an album. Pearl Jam affords Ed a good 4-5 minutes or so at the end of Alive. Notice that they never open with it, instead, saving it for the backend of the set? The same goes for the Eagles with Hotel California. I'm sure there are a tonne of examples, I just can't think of them all right now. Pink Floyd had Comfortably Numb solo, that's a good 5-6 minutes. There are a bunch of straight instrumentals..if anyone thinks of any, please , share them with us. I'm not saying they aren't great pieces of music in their own right...and that the soloists aren't displaying some outstanding chops... Both can be true. The solos are hot...and they help the vocalist out of a pinch aswell.
You can tell that once Anthony informed them that they weren't playing Californication, they attempted to alter the jam enough so that it wouldn't completely lead the audience on. The beginning starts a bit like the Slane Castle jam but then they deviate from it quite a bit.
You always see the beautiful chemistry between John and Flea, and it shows that they are so much more than band members, they're best friends, as well as Chad and Anthony, they all work together so well and I hope they understand that together they are incredible, and they should never be apart ever again, please never let John leave again, he needs RHCP as much as RHCP needs him and you 4 are incredible together, best friends 🥺😭 plus, not to bag on your career, but the best songs were made when John has been in the band, it's almost as if you've made a deal with the devil so you can succeed but without John, the deal doesn't work. Next time there's any issues in the band, hug it out, understand each other, and compromise 🥺
