Lovely car. Looks fantastic compared to all the boring boxes we have today, plus it's wonderfully refreshing to see a manufacturer strive towards comfort and creating a nice space to be in, rather than low profile tyres and ridiculously firm suspension because people seem to have an inability to deal with body roll these days.
Very informative and charming review thank you very much. Question for you do you have information on how to buy this vehicle in Britain. I am a Canadian considering moving to Spain do you have any advice on purchasing in Spain?
I think Citroen was, is and will be the best car company, because it does not try to make fast and sporty cars, but extremely comfortable and safe. However, if you want to run and accelerate quickly, it provides you with that feature as well. Anyway, the speed limit is 130 km/h
Super review! So nice to see Citroen continuing to innovate without feeling the pressure to conform....It will be great to waft along in something so different from today's world of identikit SUVs.
I really wish Rory inherited Top Gear. He is the best car presentor since the top gear trio. My new dream top gear members would be Rory (inheriting the role of Richard Hammond), The guy from Carfection (He'd inherit the role of James May), For the Jeremy character, I'm not sure(Le blanc was good, but maybe someone British ... Any suggestions?
@@johnbowie4869 in general, Citroen cars are as reliable as any other mainstream european car... but you're right about early versions of Prince engine... BMW didn't do it's most excellent work developing it. but later versions of EP6 (like the one in this C5X hybrid) are not that problematic
The whole world is going into a massive recession. Its already started but it'll grip the country next year. Buying new cars is the wrong move right. Especially when people won't be able to afford their mortgage
My dad has a C5 from 2007 with 150.000 miles. Still love the car but is getting less economical to drive ( in town), and some maintenance issues recently. He is looking for a upgrade, so we test drove a C5X. I have to say so much better on some aspects like, build quality, noise, vibrations, seats & tech. The C5X is way better in corners compared to the old ones. On the motorway I feel like the old Hydro pneumatic suspension is more comfortable than the new one. Also the plugg in model has a really tiny boot for the size of the car. I am not to convinced about the 1.6liter motor. When you floor it it makes a lot of noise, gearbox doesn't feel a smooth as it could be. The C5X with Electric motor & 80kwH / 175kw charge speed would be the dream edition of this car.
The hybrid has a few downsides (really slow charging, low range, less space, higher maintenance & insurance, losing worth quite fast too) and a bit softer suspension than the fuel engine. What I did not like driving the hybrid was mostly the gap you get when you hit the pedals a bit more rough and you feel when the real engine kicks in. As long as you are more relaxed, you barely notice when the 2nd motor joins the party. Noise level is really low if you get the upgraded glass though, havent tested the normal glass to be honest. As for the normal engines, both combustion engines are good on their own and for the way the car is designed. It's like complaining in a Ferrari that a Rolls Royce is more comfortable and complain on the Rolls that the Ferrari is faster in acceleration.
Been driving the new C4 for a year now, super happy with it. Will definitely look to get this next when I need something with more space. Hopefully they'll do the full electric in a year or so
I used to have c5 few years ago, but switched to CRV because i travel a lot in the mountains even in winters. I was eyeing this car before it was even released. But unfortunately they didn't offer 4x4. If they offer the plug-in as 4x4 i would switch in a heart beat. i miss my c5 comfort. when i was a kid my father had cotroen CX. It would be amazing if i have the c5x :)
I'm a Citroen fan, I'm into cars and I've always had a Citroen. Regarding the newly presented C5, I would like to mention that it is inferior to the previous model in the following items : Suspentions , CrashTest/E-NCAP and Design. Sorry but Citroen in the past has created many legends. Today under the boot of Peugeot, it no longer produces legends.
Stellantis in the US has almost nothing left that isn't a truck or Jeep. They introduced a compact Dodge branded SUV that is almost identical to an Alfa and has not tested very well. Meanwhile there are beautiful Citroens and Peugeots they could similarly easily turn into Chryslers but haven't. Either versions would fit the old Chrysler brand image of tech, luxury, and style.
Great review Rory! honest, intuitive and above all brilliantly presented unlike others that seem to take fun of any French car ... It is certainly unique abd yes, a breath of fresh air like only Citroën DNI can produce :)
I think the RR/Bentleys with hydropneumatic suspension only had it on the rear wheels, and unlike with Citroens the steering and brakes weren't part of that system.
That's a great looking car..just, please stop calling these things SUV or crossover, which means nothing other than an estate that is 1 or 2 inches taller.

@@klausschelling8159 why would I lie? I also had to refill the AC gas each spring, fix faulty exterior mirror and window crane. Besides that it was amazingly comfortable and quiet and I loved it for that.
How nice that someone has endeavoured to make a comfortable and peaceful car rather than angry, sporty ones, especially as the roads in the UK are such a mess. I hope they make a proper estate version though, there’s a degree of style over substance in that coupe styling and a complete lack of style in the Aircross C5.
Hi. I would like to know how many kilometers can be traveled with a fully charged battery and a full tank of gasoline in hybrid mode. how many kilometers in total. Thank you
Hi, I drive one of them. It homestly depends on your driving style. If you use e mode about 15 to 20 kilometers are realistic. If you drive hybrid u can make up to 500 kilometers in it. But if you push the car a lot that can go down to about 250 kilometers. But only if u accelerate hard a lot. It has a 40 liter tank in the hybrid version i think which is not a lot. But honestly the car is a lot of fun to drive and with recooperation you can get about 30 to 50% of your drive fully electric even with an empty battery.

The badge is a subjective assessment. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Even Mercedes missed a beat with the 2001 E-class. Buyers trusted the badge but were literally taken for an expensive ride on quality.

It’s about as fugly as a car can get - it looks like the cleaner knocked off the clay model from its table and after it had hit the floor the stylists had no time to re do it prior to the reveal - plus we all know anything automotive and French will dissolve and devalue quicker than basic Asda toilet paper that’s exposed to moisture .
