    A came across your channel a couple of weeks ago to come to a decision on upgrading my dyson DC44 to a new cordless, I went with the V8 didn't think the price difference between that and the V10 was worth the improvements. The thing is I still find myself watching your videos, excited when a new one drops, let me say that again, I'm excited to watch a new video about vacuum cleaners. That is a testament to the high quality to your reviews, I just hope I'm not near people when they talk about vacuum cleaners because the knowledge I'll drop on them will have them question what I do with my free time.

    Just stumbled on this channel & seeing that I just recently bought my 3rd cordless vac, (the 2nd one I returned) thought I'd see what you had to say about them. Well, I learned from my experience, that one of the things to consider is the ease of removing the roller brush in order to remove the tangled hair. It was one of the main reasons I returned the 2nd vac I bought. It had to be unscrewed in order to get to the roller brush & they had those tiny screws which seem to always get mashed in with the slightest pressure. Of course it was one of the low end models by Hoover. But after coming off a low end model by Bissell which was very easy to take apart & reassemble, I knew it was a mistake to get that one & so I returned it to Costco. Weight & storage are other things to consider, as is charging time and as another commenter said, the ease to clean out the bin. I am now using another mid to low end cordless, the Hoover Fusion, & so far it is the best performer out of my previous ones. It charges faster, easy to disassemble & reassemble, has 3 modes, attachments, and you could clean the bin without getting the dirty dust everywhere by just placing a plastic bag over the release. The only thing I don't like about this one & the previous Hoover that I returned, is that they are made to be hung on the wall for storage as they don't stand up on their own. I currently just keep mine propped up by having it lean on my other 'stuff' in my broom, mop, area. I find those Dyson vacs too bulky, heavy & unattractive for my taste & too expensive for my budget. In any case, enjoyed the review of cordless vac & will continue to watch.

    One of the best videos I've seen that explains the multitude of complexities and caveats when it comes to choosing a vacuum! Especially highlighting the sealed filtration systems. The only other 2 tests I would suggest is the flour/white powder on a smooth black hardfloor to demonstrate 'polishing' performance on things like tiled floors, and the 2nd test being the ability to pick up dust between floorboards, so like a 'crevice' test - as I'd be interested in both! But amazing work again. I also wonder which vacuum can clean closest to the wall? Seems to be a big 'strip' of untouched dust on the shark on it's left hand side.

Most American reviewers seem to be biased towards the American Shark products (made in China) but it is now clear to me that the British Dyson is the best vacuum cleaner in the world. Great info! I have a Dyson DC56 (reads like a V2 digital motor per the Wiki list of Dyson products) on the way that I got for ~$30 so I can have a DeWalt 20V battery pack capable portable vacuum that I can hack that into. Looks like isn't a Dyson V6... so not 2-tier cyclone tech, though will be my first Dyson cordless to work with. Interesting inspiration to be on the lookout for a great bad battery V8 or newer... or maybe just V6 or newer. Interesting too is seeing the hacks using the 26650 high drain batteries to replace the 18650 cell... inspired me to consider for a DeWalt monster pack hack.

    I have the dirt devil. In a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 dogs it does really well. And it was only about 100 bucks! Enough battery for whole house cleaning. Only downside as mentioned is that you HAVE to empty the canister every 5 minutes. And a thorough rinse and cleaning after a weekly vacuuming is definitely needed if you want it to last longer than a month.

    Two things you forgot to consider. 1) emptying dust bin. The ION P50 is more ergonomic because it's a bigger dust bin and it detaches from the vacuum, with lids on both ends. 2) ION P50's dual brush is simultaneously engaged at all times, meaning your hardwood will get sanded by the stiff brushes on the carpet roller.

    • @VacuumWars
      @VacuumWars  5 лет назад +1

      Good points. I absolutely agree.

    • @ultrakwon
      @ultrakwon 5 лет назад +4

      @@VacuumWars Contrary to popular believe, the number one thing that I wanna know with these reviews is not the battery life or the suction power. It's the part where you empty the goshdarn dust bin. I have a V6 Absolute, and I'm perfectly satisfied with it, except for the part where you have to manually empty the dust bin.
      The dust bin is stuck to the entire vacuum on the cordless Dyson models, so when you open the lid to empty it, it causes a plume of dust to rise and coat the entire vacuum. This is gross enough as it is, but it's not all. The Dyson's and most cordless vacuums have their engine/filter inside the dust bin, so it entangles lint and hair. You could try pounding it out, which, again, because the bin is stuck to the entire vacuum, is precarious and unwieldy. You don't wanna break the thing, and also, every time you shake it or rattle it to dislodge the clumps of lint and hair, it just continues to disseminate dust everywhere, including the vacuum and your clothes.
      Ultimately, you need to get a stick to manually dislodge the clusters of lint between the motor/filter inside the bin. I always do this outside, because it's an unmitigated disaster as it is, and I'll pick at the lint with a twig. Again, very precarious operation. The whole procedure generally takes me around 20-30 minutes. There's the emptying the bin, and then there's the clean-up afterward. I have to give the vacuum a thorough wipe down, wash up, change clothes, etc. For all the convenience of a cordless, this is the payback, and for me, it's not worth it.
      The most ergonomic bin I've been able to find for the cordless is the ION P50 by Shark, because the dust bin detaches like a corded vacuum. It also had lids that open both ways and there's no motor/filter permanently housed inside the bin to create crevices that'll get clogged with lint. The only concern with it is that it has the idiotic dual brush bar technology, where the vacuum is simultaneously spinning both the hardwood + carpet roller at all times. So when you switch over to hardwood, the carpet roller's stiff bristles are still engaged, and it's gonna scratch up the hardwood over time.
      The perfect vacuum for me that I've found is still Dyson's cordless. It's extremely light and convenient, but the BAGLESS dust bin is a deal breaker.

Based on the information from your video I bought the Dirt Devil Chordless Reach Max Plus Vacuum from Amazon Warehouse Condition: Used - Acceptable - Large cosmetic imperfection(s) on top, front or sides of item. Item will come in original packaging. Packaging will be damaged for $77.02 ($84.34) after tax. The thing is in Mint brand new condition. Like, some douchebag messed up the box. Big whoop.
    Anyway. I'm so happy with this unit. Like you said, it's great on both floors and carpet. I gotta little studio apt in hollywood with fake hardwood floors and an area rug. It's get's so dusty out here that you gotta clean your floors daily and my previous Dirt Devil Power Stick Lite wasn't cutting it. I have a Dyson V10 as well as the Eureka NEC222 (Ships & Sold by Amazon). I did a review comparing the two on Amazon.com and both are very good. I gave the edge to the Eureka and it's price has been as low as $175. It's well built and has an available removeable battery. Given your standardized testing process, I'd like to see you test the Eureka unit to see how it stacks up.
    By the way, the Dyson V10 is a very good unit. However, it does NOT have a removeable battery and Dyson units are notorious for battery failure. These failures almost always render the units as useless, an unfortunate expensive lesson for many.

    Thanks for the review. I like the Shark Ion P50 but it still uses its aggressive brush on more delicate wood floors, which is a major detractor. Even when in the hard-floor mode, the stiff bristles are still actively rotating. This would rule it out for my oak floors. I just use it on carpet, where it does a good job.
    For my hard floors I still use my Dyson V8 Absolute.

      I have been using DuoClean Vacuums (uprights with much more agitation power and thicker bristles) with out cleaning business since they came out. We are in an area with lots of rental cabins, which is to say that most of the house we clean are hard floors, and WIDE variety of types of hard floors, including some very nice and delicate floors. I have never had the slightest problem. That also seem like something that Shark would be watching for in their tests. Especially since the Duocleans are primary marketed for hard floors. Maybe pick a small area to test it, it would be worth it, because they are AMAZING with hard floor pickup.

    • @poppys33d
      @poppys33d 6 лет назад

      Vacuum Wars Thanks for the reply. Maybe my floors are overly sensitive to this (hairline scratches - so easily picked up). It matters not to me since I have my V8 Absolute handy. There’s simply no reason for that bristle brush to be active on hard floors.

    Excellent review! I happened to notice that one of the vacuums you tested had a canister that you had to hold in your second hand. As someone who may frequently be holding a baby as I vacuum, I would appreciate knowing which vacuums can be operated with one hand and which would need two. It'd be a veto factor for me. FYI for future reviews.

    Had a Dyson v6 absolute. Did a great job but battery life was a little lacking. Costco had a sale on the v10 so stupid me bought one. Have to say the v10 is WAY better than the v6. More suction, much better battery and the bin is a lot easier to empty. It truely delivers a corded vacuum cleaning experience without the cord.

  • @BobbyBike
    @BobbyBike 6 лет назад

    The dog fire/hair almost never lies on carpet or floor like on your test. What usually happens is that single hairs are weaved together into the carpet. That changes a lot for cleaning the carpet as the vacuum needs untangle it to be able to suck it in. Test with huge tangled pieces of hair are barely useful in that matter. Such tangles do create, but mostly in the corners and are anyway easy to deal with for any vacuum.

I have Pulmonary Fibrosis which means I can only do some things due to my inability to breathe properly. I love vacuum wars, that's why I subscribed to it. He goes into details! Also, I'm 69, will be 70 in late Nov.!

    You know, in the end part, where you show the wacuum cleaners clean over the white stuff, Dyson doesn't recommend to suck up ashes, dust from drilling or flour like dust, because the filter can't take it and the very fine dust goes into the main unit and stays there.

    I work at a Floor Care Dealer..also doing Warranty, etc. on most brands. Some companies are 'Quite Good' with their Warranty Claims.. others.. 'Not So Good' ! If you purchase a Dyson, be prepared to 'Send it Back to Them' for Repairs / Replacement ! Also.. if you see any 'Big Box Store Sales' for a Huge Savings on Many Models.. (they are probably Discontinued and Parts will be NLA or with some 'Very Hard to Get' !) So Buyer Beware !

    I have a few questions since im new to these vaccuum stuff.
    This cordless ones...is it on batteries? So when they run out you have to buy more of their batteries? Or they have a charging system?
    If no, Do you know is there are any vaccums that are cordless but also have a charging system if it does run out? (I think that would be cool)

    How does the best of these cordless vacs compare to a high powered heavy, like a Kirby G series? Just curious. Are these designed to be your main vacuum? or are these a go-to quick picker-upper?

    • @VacuumWars
      @VacuumWars  5 лет назад +1

      Except for the V10 most cordless vacuums dont deep clean carpets as good as corded vacs. Other than that they can replace regular vacuums as long as the battery life is sufficient/

      @vincentrobinette1507 5 лет назад

      @@VacuumWars I appreciate the reply. I do know that Dyson has ceased development of heavy corded vacs, and focusing wholly and solely on highly efficient cordless vacs, the V-10 being among their latest models. It might be time to put the beast out to pasture.

    I could have gotten the V10 when it came out but it was like $600. I got a brand new V8 Absolute for $260! Can't beat that. It's also more compact than the V10 which is a plus for me. The Shark looks big and heavy compared to the Dysons.

    • @VacuumWars
      @VacuumWars  5 лет назад +1

      Good deal on the V8! Yeah the Shark is technically heavier but since the weight is on bottom instead of the handle its actually quite a bit easier on the forearm.
