100% disagree.. everything else is a cheap imitation. Dysons are tested thoroughly (unlike most others). Sharks are stupidly heavy.... Maybe you have an axe to grind eh
I had a Dyson it broke a few times (over 4 years) but Dyson always fixed or replaced the vacuum under there warranty and it was always a good experience.
Maybe 10 years ago I bought a Bissell. It worked well but we had a big house and several animals so the vacuum got a workout. I did a lot of maintenance and replaced filters, belts, beater bars regularly. It gradually got to the point that I couldn't get replacement parts anymore. I did research and found people saying that Shark was better regarding replacement parts so I bought a Shark. 4 years later I haven't had to replace any parts yet so I don't know how the parts situation really is. I'm investigating buying a cordless Shark now, the biggest hassle I have while vacuuming is dealing with the cord!
I bought a cordless (moosoo) about 3 years ago and I just can’t use a corded vacuum anymore, it’s so annoying compared to cordless. The only issue is it just doesn’t last long enough on high, or really even medium to do a whole house, so now I’m looking for something with either a really big battery or two detachable batteries so I can do it all in one shot, especially when I go to clean my grandparents house weekly.
I have had a Dyson Ball 3 since it came out. Works great. No issues. I think people treat their stuff like crap and blame the manufacturers if its not bulletproof.
Orrrrrr.... the earlier models were made better than more recent models which are more expensive but rely on the name that they built for themselves on the back of the better made earlier models. It's a story told about so many "once great" brands.
Welcome back Ryan! The dynamic duo....together again! I LOVE how you brought out the Barbie vacuum. I'll never forget that time on that one video, that person posted a comment thinking you were serious! 😂😂😂😂
Have avoided Dyson as we have carpet & dog hair to deal with & our Shark corded vac does a great job. Was given a V7, needed a new battery & we use it regularly in our tiled areas & it’s still ok, so,when we saw a Dyson Gen5 on sale for less than the Shark Vortex (our first choice) couldn’t resist. Picked up as much as would normally see in the Shark canister but after vacuuming went over the same carpet with the Shark. Got a little carpet fluff from the wool carpet, and a tiny bit on dog hair, realistically an insignificant amount. Surprised how well the Dyson performed & quite happy. The Dysons prices are crazy in Australia, but if the right, I think it’s a good buy.
These videos are really entertaining for a tech nerd like me that likes seeing numbers. I recently bought a Hoover Emerge for my parents as a christmas present because it was on sale for half price and I can't find any reviews for the specific version I bought. It just says Hoover Emerge and nothing after that.
Loved my Dyson , however the battery only lasted 18 months , also considering I only vacuum about once a month that's basically 18 to 20 full charges. The replacement battery was over $200 dollars for a $400 dollar vacuum . Would love to see reviews for cordless that include battery life and replacement cost as an element .
Unfortunately I cannot do long term testing. I simply do not have the resources to test hundreds of batteries for several years. Maybe Consumers Reports tests batteries? Replacement costs can easily be found on Amazon.
This vid was disappointing. I dont need kph and air movement. I want to know how big is the cup? What tools are included? Are the filters washsabe? Costs to replace filters and a new battery.
You should do a super bougie category, miele, simplicity, etc...? I have had 4 dyson and my miele is far, far better than anything dyson! Just saying, there are alot of brands other than big box brands that are worth testing!
My mother in-law runs through Dysons. V8-V10-V11-V15 every one of them lasts like a year or 2 before they self destruct. Sticky buttons, broken brush head swivels, battery life holds up for maybe a year. She just offloaded another 2 vacuum heads and stack of attachments for me to service/repair. I never have issues with my sharks. I also stay away from cordless vacuums, as much as they’re convenient they come with a lot of inconveniences. Dyson doesn’t hold up to the price tag. Landfill fodder.
@@vacuumnerds I was tempted by a cordless vacuum and was checking things out, but no, I think I’ll stay with the tri-star and it’ll probably be just as good 50 years from now.
Thank you for this video just when mine broke. Going to go for the Hoover but will save for the Dyson v15 in the future. My last vaccum was a shark brand and it lasted 2.5 years and I loved it
I currently own a Dyson V10 however the thing is starting to show its age. The bin is dropping, the floor attachments are so so, the battery is starting to not last as long and get really hot at the end using it.
Thanks for all the great reviews! What would the best low-mid or mid tier priced vacuum be that has a sealed canister, motorized brush roll attachment, and great on hard floors? The Tineco looked good until the hardwood test. And it seems like lots of Shark vacuums can’t fit the motorized brush roll attachment they make. Thanks!
I must confess that I kinda got distracted by the speakers I kept seeing in the background... after some pausing and searching, I managed to figure out those are B&W CM5's and a B&W Nautilus HTM2's, correct? Remembing that B&W used to have the distinct-looking yellow kevlar drivers helped as they don't seem to use them any longer in their current products. Anyway, I did manage to finish the video despite getting side-tracked, so thanks!
So im looking at your mid to high range listed. I currently own the Tineco A11 Pet since i have 3 dogs. Its been a good vacuum, but.... It does not pick up larger items like hard dog food, etc on our hard floors. Just seems to push it around which stinks. Of the two Sharks and Hoover, which would you recommend? Thanks guys!
Sorry but the Dyson’s are very expensive JUNK I had the V15 and others and they all fall apart quickly for the money. Plastic cracks falls apart over it! I bought the Shark Stratos excellent reasonable works as well or better then the Dyson the air flow and suction and filters are as good or better then Dyson. The shark has worn well. I got the Stratos when it came out and still doing what it has done since day one. Only issue is I did have to replace the dust cup due to a piece of plastic failing. Considering the price difference I would go with Shark all day long!!
Did shark just switch their product branding? I’m on their website and see both the stratos and vertex have LED displays. Looks like the Vertex in this video is now labeled as the Pet Plus??
When I watch RUclips videos on Dyson vs shark performing side by side, in every one looks like shark vacuums most substances with one pass, whereas Dyson vacuums require 2 to 3 passes. Further, I own two corded Dyson vacuums and I must admit I obviously bought into the hype that dysons are powerful, but I have to make several passes with the vacuum head to effectively uplift substances. Perhaps power does not mean efficient or effective.?
@@vacuumnerds I have a Hoover upright self-propelled vacuum with a light and has lasted me 44 years. Drawbacks are it's very VERY heavy and the self-propelled benefit doesn't work as well on the newer plush carpeting (it actually has a "shag" setting, which is the highest setting, but still not high enough for current style of carpeting). But, it's amazing, nonetheless! 44 years!
We've have the Shark you tested for 4-5 years. Besides a possible dead cell or 2 in the battery it's perfectly reliable BUT... the strips on the brush roll have become tattered and Shark doesn't offer a replacement on their website. ✌️

ANNOYING ISSUE: The Shark Detect Pro has a small corner sealed compartment inside the clear plastic dust collection bin. The purpose of this seems unknown even to Shark. It has a BIG design flaw in that this compartment is NOT SEALED where it meets the cylindrical plastic outside cover. It collects dust when it shouldn't. Solution: use a PC air blast can at the bottom seal to shake up the dust and a Shop-Vac to try and suck out as much as you can. Then SEAL inside the dust cylinder where it meets this mysterious compartment either with Scotchtape (best) or if you've managed to empty it, with Superglue.
