I have a dyson thats little better than the one you have, but not much. Dont hate it but dont love it. Definitely not a fan of the battery. You can replace them, and you will have to because they stop holding a charge. Have gone through a couple in 3 years. you have to remove a couple small screws and such to do so. We use a corded shark more than the dyson. On the other hand, my brother and his wife have a dyson that is actually pretty awesome, but its like $600-800. It has a green light on the front you can turn on and it shows you dust and fur you couldnt see with the light off, and it picks it up real well. The roller did get jammed up before and it wasnt the easiest thing to take apart and put back together. The whole top piece with the filter and tank, its some what easy to dump to keep vacuuming, but taking it apart is again, kind of a PITA. It works real well, but its too expensive and definitely could be easier to clean and maintain
Here's an example how this Channel has changed my life: Our house in Maui, Hawaii, needed some Lani 2x6x20' boards replaced - damn termites I used my Ryobi tools to cut the lumber and the electric planer to shave them to fit into the old locations But of course, the lumber had to be painted, so this channel reviewed the TrueCoat 360 cordless connect paint sprayer that can use any powered screwdriver or impact driver I have a lot of old Ryobi drivers so I bought one. I really appreciate this comment brother. For some reason, a litvif people crying on that sprayer video saying it's junk, garbage blah blah blah yet never tried it. Along with every other tool that I show lol. Either trolls or just people that like to complain.
@@ToolReviewZone@ToolReviewZone Well, I've tried a bunch of airless sprayers over the years but never a TrueCoat - wow, what a difference. The paint went on flawlessly and evenly and I'm tempted to use an impact driver instead of a drill driver and paint even faster. We have a lot of lattice wood that needs painting and I'm assuming I will easily do it 10X faster with the TrueCoat. Ryobi should buy TrueCoat and make it a Ryobi product.
I just replaced an older Ryobi stick vac with the one reviewed in this video and absolutely love it. I have close to 2 dozen 18V Ryobi tools and 8 or so HP batteries so I never have to worry about one being dead. With the exception of one, maybe two products, I have been thrilled with the Ryobi, not Reeobi, brand name. Going on year 4 with the lawnmower and only a blade replacement and NO GAS EVER!!
I got the Ryobi and after a month my wife got rid of the Dyson. The interchangeable batteries are the best part of the system. She grabs a 6Ah and gets the whole house done where with the Dyson she had to do half the house, charge it, then finish the other half.
I’ve been using a Ryobi 717k model stick vac with pet roller, etc. with some batteries I had for a year now. It ran circles around our old Dyson, and replacement batteries are cheap. The little attachments are great for getting dust out of electronics, motors, etc, even the back of your fridge nobody does. I bought a Ryobi PBLSV717 stick vac a couple years ago to replace a 2 year old corded Dyson pet hair vac that was just awful from day 1. The MUCH cheaper Ryobi immediately blew the Dyson out of the water. I've used the Ryobi for everything: vacuuming the car, the couch, tile floors, carpet, etc. We're currently doing vinyl siding and windows on our house, and no matter how I try, I inevitably track pvc and wood sawdust into the house. The Ryobi takes care of it with ease. Pet hair from a German Shepherd/Catahoula Cur mix isn't an issue, either. I just wish the canister was bigger, cause man do we have to empty it often with our dog. We don't even have the advanced beater bar, the standard one works great, though I am considering getting that just because. For $90, why not? Anyways, TLDR, I was surprised how well the cheaper Ryobi stick vac performed compared to the much more expensive corded Dyson.

@7:40 that's called carpetuation. When you go back and forth, pick it up to look at it, then throw it back down to vacuum it. It's from the old Snigglet book.
I have a 2022 Ryobi Stick Vac and it will suck the rugs up,, tries to pull in shoes if it catches laces and I use it commercially iuf that tells you anything. Not to mention the bottom rollers disconnect so the handle is used as an extension for hard to reach places
We own a V10 Dyson, and if we didn't get a crazy deal with it 2nd hand I'd feel robbed to have paid retail. For all the things I hate about it (the battery life, the air filters, the designed to break plastics at stress points) it is a beast for suction for a tiny stick vac. But I'm done with trying to keep it running. Live literally down the street from Ryobi, hoping to see that vacuum when they do their yearly father's day street sale.
Appreciate the feedback. It's funny but wh3n I was charging these outside, my neighbor came over to see what I had going on when he seen this Dyson, he actually got angry at it lol. Said him and his wife hated it so bad that they get upset everything they look at it lol
@@ToolReviewZone I literally had to get replacement parts from Amazon or eBay that were NOT OEM, since the plastics were so bad. Had to completely disassemble the unit to replace a broken trigger. It was designed to break IMO, since the plastic went thinner at the pivot point. $2 part but hours of frustration. I see them as the Apple of vacuums, for all the negative stereotypes of planned obsolescence and repair-ability.
I want to throw in my Milwaukee M18 stick vac experience... The ergonomics are absolutely terrible, the weight gets pretty heavy with a 12ah (obviously), I like the attachments and how they latch, it has pretty good suction and power, the container is easy to use and holds a decent amount of debris, however it hates hair! You will be literally stopping every 30 seconds to clean the hair out of the inside as it wraps around the tiny plastic/metal screen inside. It does not stand up on its own, it doesn't have a dock for hanging or charging, the first one I bought was defective the first day out of the box, pushing it around on carpet feels like your trying to push a brick on the end of a mop handle, and one really big negative that my friends and I have noticed with a couple of these vacs is that the static electricity that builds up from carpet cleaning likes to discharge where your fingers wrap around the handle, so it constantly shocks you as you clean. (We tested 3 different m18's and they all did this.) Overall, I got it on sale for $140 bare tool and I think it's just ok, it works. It doesn't suck, but it's not mind blowing. Actually I use it more with the stick off of it and just walk it around in hand. I think I may be getting a Ryobi soon, just not sure which of the 3 new ones I want. Thanks for making this video Clint.
I wouldn't throw it in, I'd throw it out lol. Everything you said is on point. I did a video on it saying how bad it was. Don't get me wrong, it works OK on hard surfaces for smaller debris, but carpet it's just terrible
You’d think that with Ryobi and Milwaukee both being under TTI that they might share some of the ideas that improve performance of the devices - but often that seems to not be the case.
To be fair that is one of the cheapest dysons but it is around the same price as the others so this was a fair comparison. Def gonna consider getting the ryobi
That Dyson isn't one of the "bad mamma jamma" models. I've got a V15. I've also got the Ryobi PBLSV717, and I'd say the Dyson is slightly better at suction, but the Ryobi dual brush head gets a lot of stuff up! The Dyson's bigger powered head is better on carpets, though. I think I will end up getting the wet/dry Ryobi vac thing, too. I'm sure the wifey will like it. I did the best thing. GET BOTH.
Great job, love the reviews. If this Ryobi Vac goes on sale I am on it. FYI Hart tools (Walmart) also has a stick Vac that uses their 20volt tool batteries. I try to stay away from any device that has built in rechargeable batteries. Thanks for the as usual great reviews.
Love that this wasn't another video immediately talking about Dyson and saying it's good only because of the brand name. I love my Ryobi brushless vac (PBLSV716 but my tool says PBLSV717 which is the dual roller variant which is not my case). At the time I bought it, I thought dang I wish they had a whisper series version that was stronger and a bit quieter (I love my 18v whisper string trimmer and actually got complimented recently by a lady asking about gas vs electric). Whenever this baby dies, I know what replacement model I'll be picking up
I like Ryobi a lot, but its inefficiency with sugar (dust) is a NoGo for me. The Dyson V8 does much better and faster. What has to be cleaned 🧹 in my house is usually dust, but not cereals 🥣 Moreover, weight and weight repartition is much better on the Dyson when you need to clean easily spiderwebs 🕸️ on the ceiling. Hello 👋 from France 🇫🇷 and thank you for all your very good YT videos 🙂
THat tineco and Dyson have the worst filtration systems for cordless vacs still currently on sale. The Tineco will clog if you don't clean the tube filter regularly. Dyson's filter while needing less maintenance will clog in the future as dust accumulates at the inner walls of the tube/foam filter, it has to be turned inside out then washed. Ryobi indeed is a more recent cordless vac and the dual brush head could be compelling to pickup those larger particles. I also like that its battery pack compatible with power tools. Power tool brands should make cordless vacs so that batteries are utilized. I have multiple tools on different brands there for incompatible batteries, on top of multiple cordless vacs in the house
I really want to love the ryobi. they've done so much right. But other reviews have shown that it doesnt have a properly sealed canister. Which means fine dust is getting blown back into your house. Not a huge deal in the shop perhaps. But it's important to note. Similarly, there's a reason why dyson provides the fluffy roller with their other vacuums. Hard floor sweeping isnt something many vacuums have excelled at until they started looking at the fluffy roller and had the genius idea of "why not both".
The LG's are really good. While if you do your suction test it won't seem that impressive yet the vacuum itself is super impressive. Not sure how it works. It has a couple of filters. All just cleaned with water. The base stores and charges a second battery if needed. They even have some versions that auto empty. It is also weight balanced way better than most of the other ones. My grandparents had a couple other ones and they didn't use them but tried our LG and they bought one as it was the easies to operate for them.
Really appreciate the feedback Jonny. I bought all new LG appliances a couple years ago and they are already falling apart on me, so I'm a bit gun shy with LG at the moment 🤔
@@ToolReviewZone Really depends on the product. Unfortuntely you can't just go buy a whole set of anything these days from anyone. Thankfully there are sites that have a lot of data. From washers and dryers to refrigerators. For instance most refrigerators are not going to last unless you go super basic. They have horrible designs. Never buy one with the ice maker in the door if you can help it for instance especially if the door is part of the fridge instead of the freezer section. Front loading wash machines are typically way less reliable then top loading. Thankfully we have sites and RUclips channels from companies and repair techs that talk about their experience with least and most reliable. I have gone through a Kenmore and GE fridge in the last 7 years or so. The last fridge repair estimate was nearly $1000 so we bought an LG on sale and it has been great so far. Ice maker is in the freezer drawer and water dispenser is on the inside of the fridge and not in the door. Compressor I think has a 10 year warranty. It was a brand new model without reviews but has been solid so far. Samsung fridges have been some of the worst the last decade or so.
Great review im currently using the Milwaukee vaccum for house cleaning its has much to be desired. Hopefully they make one similar to this ryobi . Id like to see a review on a cordless stand up vac comparison. For heavy duty janitorial jobs
Dyson will NEVER get my money again. Bought the V11 when it was released and was not impressed for the $800 I forked out because I got caught up on the hype train about how amazing Dyson performs.
I just had to return a Ryobi animal stick vac because it stopped working properly. It would start making a weird fluttering noise and would not run on high. I tried cleaning it and everything. The cleaning videos told me to do it still did it. Ours was not close to 2 1/2 months old, so we just returned it and got our money back now we’re about to be on the chore of replacement or something else
Just got done watching the WWE and the had to come here for the main event!! lol. The wife wants that Ryobi. And now I’m craving pebbles!!! lol. Great video as always. Keep it up brother.
I have the Dyson, it was expensive and the battery went bad after very little use. I bought a new battery on Amazon or somewhere, yes you can replace them but you have to take it apart, not very difficult. It is garbage. I think i will be buying the Ryobi, I also have many other Ryobi cordless so batteries are not a problem. Could use the extra battery also.
Try a real Dyson, not one that’s like 7 years old and is kept around as an entry level option for the less well heeled. V10 and above and excellent. I have owned 2 V7s, and currently own a V10, a V12, a V15, and an omniglide. Just keep in mind Dysons aren’t not shopvacs.
I agree. Dyson vacuums are overpriced. We used 2 for our cleaning company and can tell you they WILL NOT hold up long under that type of usage. They were both corded. They work well until the plastic starts melting around the beater bar. They both failed the same way.
I've had two Dyson stick vacs and I've not been impressed with their quality for the price. Performance is ok, but both of mine broke within a few years. The plastic and build quality just seem poor, my current V8 model has had the plastic trigger guard break off so sharp plastic scratches your hand and the plastic tube has an insane amount of play in it making it wobbly. Still running for now at least, but I get the impression that even though these things are $400+ they are meant to be disposable and won't last you more than 3-5 years.

I love the Kobalt so this is what I'll say. The Ryobi for larger messes, animal hair and carpet, kobalt for smaller jobs line crumbs around the corner, and webs in the corner. My only complaint with the kobalt is that you have to hike the trigger in constantly to keep it going
Have you tested any of the similar Milwaukee stick vacuums? I already have a bunch of their batteries and chargers. We have a smaller Dyson that we purchased after several others died in a few months. At least the Dyson is still going after 3 plus years. That being said I would probably check out the Milwaukee when the time comes.
You know the vacuum market is awful when a power tool company makes the best pet vac. But can we see some kobalt and craftsman stick vacs in there too? They each only have 1 model so its a lot more straight forward than ryobi's 6 lol
While I won't buy a 3rd Dyson (due to having to use my leaf blower every other use to attempt to clean it out well enough that it will let me use it again - and only after just a few months of starting to use it) - do a doublecheck on the link you used to buy that Mike Tyson err … Dyson (and keep a close eye on that credit card activity, too - Vance wasn't near by when you ordered it, was he?) - because it performed worse than the 1st one I bought like 6 yr ago.
would like to get it as I'm on the ryobi platform and need a vacuum, but it seems if you want to enter the market for cordless stick vacuums, you're entering a vastly overpriced market that focuses on convenience and gimmicks over quality of build. I would agree that the dyson is cheap, ready to break plastic, and the other one is mediocre, but I was a bit surprised that the whisper quiet stick Ryobi has pretty shitty reviews on home depot (even compared with the other ryobi sticks) with regards to durability, along with a few other flaws. Many reviews (on any product) are worthless if people only review it inside the first month or so of owning the tool.
Why don’t these brands have the shark self cleaning head system. I have my Dyson up cause I got tired of cleaning the beater bar so much. I’ve had the Shark rocket for 3 years how and never had to clean the bar. Suction is not as good but with 3 animals and both wife and I have long hair, screw cleaning the beater bar monthly.
Your hate for the dyson is not really valid. I have the v8 and although it's plastic it's not cheaply made. The suction on high is amazing the low setting is a waste. So the only valudbissuebisnthe battery life on high. If you have a small carpeted area it's okay.
I think your complaints on the Dyson are kind of nit picky, I think EVERY vacuum has it’s pros and cons but there is literally NOTHING the Dyson can’t do that I need it too
That's interesting. I've always purchased Shark vacs for the house and was always happy with them. I always thought that Dyson was king and I was just being to cheap to pay the price. Now it all makes sense
Dysons have a bad rep because poor people can’t afford them and when they do manage to finish the layaway, they don’t bother cleaning it once every 6 months.

Yeah, they definitely suck. I've been extremely happy with their vacs, but this one is actually more powerful than the previous one
Ryobi all the way thanks man great job
That Dyson isn't one of the "bad mamma jamma" models. I've got a V15. I've also got the Ryobi PBLSV717, and I'd say the Dyson is slightly better at suction, but the Ryobi dual brush head gets a lot of stuff up! The Dyson's bigger powered head is better on carpets, though. I think I will end up getting the wet/dry Ryobi vac thing, too. I'm sure the wifey will like it.
I did the best thing. GET BOTH.
Great comment 👍
Great job, love the reviews. If this Ryobi Vac goes on sale I am on it. FYI Hart tools (Walmart) also has a stick Vac that uses their 20volt tool batteries. I try to stay away from any device that has built in rechargeable batteries. Thanks for the as usual great reviews.
really well done review, extremely thorough and yet concise
Thanks wrefk
your Cereal montage was so epic! LOL 10:35
Haha, thanks Guy 👊
Love that this wasn't another video immediately talking about Dyson and saying it's good only because of the brand name. I love my Ryobi brushless vac (PBLSV716 but my tool says PBLSV717 which is the dual roller variant which is not my case). At the time I bought it, I thought dang I wish they had a whisper series version that was stronger and a bit quieter (I love my 18v whisper string trimmer and actually got complimented recently by a lady asking about gas vs electric). Whenever this baby dies, I know what replacement model I'll be picking up
I'm fairness, you picked an 8 year old Dyson against a new model Ryobi and 2 year old tineco.
Otherwise I love your content.
Pretty sure that was to keep the price points similar
Definitely interested in that ryobi not ryobi stick vac. Think it would be super good in our camper.
I like Ryobi a lot, but its inefficiency with sugar (dust) is a NoGo for me. The Dyson V8 does much better and faster. What has to be cleaned 🧹 in my house is usually dust, but not cereals 🥣
Moreover, weight and weight repartition is much better on the Dyson when you need to clean easily spiderwebs 🕸️ on the ceiling.
I have one of the original brushless Ryobi stick vacs. This is a huge improvement, and I might have to upgrade to it.
I totally agree that all cordless vacuums and vac-mops should have removable and replaceable batteries.
Wow. Nice review. Been looking for a stick vac for the hardwood. Gotta choose the RYOBI. Thanks!
Let me know how you like it!
Also lastly, the Dyson does have a “hard surface cleaner” head attachment. That one you’re using is for carpet. Just sayin
Sounds like you are trying to convince yourself you didn't over pay on this Dyson vacuum....just saying
Great review im currently using the Milwaukee vaccum for house cleaning its has much to be desired. Hopefully they make one similar to this ryobi . Id like to see a review on a cordless stand up vac comparison. For heavy duty janitorial jobs
These cordless stick vacs are best for quick clean ups, bare floors, and car cleaning. For carpets a corded vacuum is unbeatable.
Janitorial work often uses a backpack vacuum. I wonder if there are any cordless backpack vacs?
Cocoa pebbles are NOT the same as cocoa crispies… Agree button
Dyson will NEVER get my money again. Bought the V11 when it was released and was not impressed for the $800 I forked out because I got caught up on the hype train about how amazing Dyson performs.
$800..... Dayuuuuum
He’s in love with the Coco! - OT Genesis
GREAT VIDEO !!! Will help me convince my wife that we need to ditch the Dyson and go with Ryobi !!! Thank You!!!!!!!!!
I love coco pebbles 🤣👊
@@ToolReviewZone me too brother. But I’m a poor kid so I get the cheapo bags lmao!!
I personally prefer the fruity ones lol
Hope you get to do a review of the Ryobi Wet Dry stick vac TRZ!
Just got it brother. I'm going to do the egg thing!!!
Clint, I love your command of the Anglish language😁. Looks like a major drywall project coming up?
Haha, I'm re-writing the dictionary brother 🤣. Yeah, have a small job coming up 😪
I have the Dyson, it was expensive and the battery went bad after very little use.
Dyson are for people that like to show how much money they have AND that they don’t care enough to spend it well
Seems to look that way
I agree. Dyson vacuums are overpriced. We used 2 for our cleaning company and can tell you they WILL NOT hold up long under that type of usage. They were both corded. They work well until the plastic starts melting around the beater bar. They both failed the same way.
I’ve been waiting all day for your DeWalt new framing video and a vacuum cleaner video comes out
Why waiting all day? I Saud this weekend, which also includes Sunday
Because of you - we now own 4 Ryobi stick vacs
thanks a lot....need another one....
Lol, I'm sorry nole 🤣😪
@@ToolReviewZone We own two homes and our son owns two homes
and since I get a 10% Veteran discount at Home Depot I wind up buying all the Ryobi tools.
Each home has one and we also own just about every Ryobi tool made at each house
I wish Ryboi had a "Friends and Family" discount setup
Even at 10% off I spend a fortune with Ryobi
and I get most of my "Bright Ideas" from this channel
thanks a lot....
He definitely was biased towards the other two
@@woozy607 Over the years, we have bought a bunch of stick vacs
Ryobi is the only one that you can stand up in the middle of the room and do something else for a while
all the other stick vacs fall over - I don't know where they hire their engineers from
but it's not from the land of common sense...
@woozy607 you should probably buy the Dyson then.... Link attached. Let me know how it works out for you 👊
Thank you!
Cracking job 👏 😅
Shark Stratos stick vac is what I have, does a great job regardless of florage type.
I've had shark for years. They dod a great job, but haven't tried their stick vac
@@ToolReviewZone The Stratos has has an eco mode that speeds up or down depending on size is particles you're picking up. Thank you for the comedic reviews, keep em coming!
This ryobi vs the kobalt which one would you pick.
I love the Kobalt so this is what I'll say. The Ryobi for larger messes, animal hair and carpet, kobalt for smaller jobs line crumbs around the corner, and webs in the corner. My only complaint with the kobalt is that you have to hike the trigger in constantly to keep it going
@@ToolReviewZone Thanks much!
Ryobi rocks. I have the older version of this vacuum and it stands up PBLSV716K
I really like my Dyson v8 and the wall hanger charging station. It's very nice like. I also got the adapter so I can use my dewalt batteries on it.
Appreciate the feedback 👊
You should have got the craftsman stick vac. It’s amazing and so are the reviews on it.
Never tried the craftsman, but I'll definitely take a look 👊
That Ryobi is an animal, a very hangry animal!
I hated the Milwaukee vac. Always clogs and is super bulky
You know the vacuum market is awful when a power tool company makes the best pet vac.
But can we see some kobalt and craftsman stick vacs in there too? They each only have 1 model so its a lot more straight forward than ryobi's 6 lol
I actually really like the kobalt. I use it for corners in my house all the time 👊
You crack me up. Thanks
All of those vacuums suck.
It's true!!!
That is their job ...
"Ground Covfee" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Eat that sear-el whilst chargin' the batt-rays 👍
I love your channel. However, I think all vacuum reviews must include some sort of fine particulate dust like drywall dust or powdered sugar.
Can u pls post link to full review
the Dyson took so long to charge because at those prices, you better be looking after the battery, Dyson.
Dyson V8 is a very old model. Why not review one of the latest Gen5 models?
I was just waiting for this shoulda, woulda, coulda comment
@@ToolReviewZone He’s right. V8s are VERY old. Try a V15.
You missed the Shark
the Ryobi one is awesome and I can prove it
I have a different stick ryobi , actually i have 2 of them
I have a dyson v8 with a battery replacement adapter to use my makita batteries.
would like to get it as I'm on the ryobi platform and need a vacuum, but it seems if you want to enter the market for cordless stick vacuums, you're entering a vastly overpriced market that focuses on convenience and gimmicks over quality of build.
2 more tests that kills vacuums: hair and drywall dust
Why don’t these brands have the shark self cleaning head system. I have my Dyson up cause I got tired of cleaning the beater bar so much. I’ve had the Shark rocket for 3 years how and never had to clean the bar. Suction is not as good but with 3 animals and both wife and I have long hair, screw cleaning the beater bar monthly.
Oh so this year Ryobi Days is trying to push off the old vacuum model at the same price as last year instead of the new improved model... 🤔
Your hate for the dyson is not really valid. I have the v8 and although it's plastic it's not cheaply made. The suction on high is amazing the low setting is a waste. So the only valudbissuebisnthe battery life on high. If you have a small carpeted area it's okay.
Your "previous" model Ryobi must be broken. It should stand up on its own.
The people who buy dyson, are the type of people who couldn't spend 6 minutes researching anything if their life depended on it.
I think your complaints on the Dyson are kind of nit picky, I think EVERY vacuum has it’s pros and cons but there is literally NOTHING the Dyson can’t do that I need it too
All Dysons require a degree in engineering to do anything with
That's pretty funny
Tell us you’re dumb without telling us you’re dumb.
U must’ve gotten a broke unit bc mine stands on its own too just like the whisper and it’s the same one u show 5:33
Vacuum Wars 😅
Waltz into your local vacuum store and pay attention to the fact that they refuse to carry any of this throwaway culture junk.
Imagine using ryobi tools
Had the ryobi. Was ok. The Milwaukee I have now is better.
Bro bro come on we like tools men what the nex video is barbies and kents men please think manly
P.S. don’t forget to take your meds before the next video……..🤣
Let me just say Dyson sucks not in a good way. The batteries are trash 🗑️
Yeah the run time is trash especially in high that’s why mine is M18 powered!
Actually Dyson has a bad rep they only have a good rep because of paid reviews they send out. Almost anything that I know of is better than a Dyson.
So it's Dyson for the win, is what you are saying.
🤣👊
Which vacuum is the quietest?
All of them are junk, ill keep my henry
Dyson is equivalent to Festool , Tineco=Dewalt RyobI=Gay.
Trashest take i've seen all week 😂
12 pound weights! 🤣
