I've got the Dyson V8 and the P50 and when I first got the P50, I was impressed with many things. However, the brushroll needs constant cleaning whereas the brushroll for the dyson rarely if ever gets tangled. Also, the filters get dirty very quickly on the P50 and there is a lot of fine dust in the round exhaust filter housing leading me to believe it isn't filtering as well as the Dyson. The Dyson filters rarely need cleaning and when they do, they aren't very dirty. Finally, I find the Dyson more maneuverable. Yes, P50 has liftaway, which does make it light, but you still have to schlep around the canister portion. The Dyson is very easy to lift up and put in many tight spots. I use both vacuums for cleaning pet hair off of pet and people beds. The Dyson picks it up better. By no means is the P50 bad, but I'd have to say, ding, ding it scores several more points than the P50 in my house.
exactly my findings when "test driving" the P50 an V8 at BB&B. Went with V8 Abs for $350 on Amazon. Have Shark Apex Speed (steal at $130 for a very new looking Amazon refurb) for heavy duty carpet cleaning. Only thing for me the P50 would be better for is vaccing the cars with the lift-off, but the V8 works ok for that too.
@@SamDSchumacher13 Depends. If you don't want to pull hair off the brush roll constantly and like the powered mini-nozzle for stairs, I'd have to say yes, it is worth the price difference.
It took me a week to pick between those two vacuums. I ended up getting the V10 because my house is mostly carpet. If I have mostly hardwood, I would have selected the P50.
I purchased the P50 after watching your earlier reviews. Main decision points were not having to change heads going between carpet and hardwood and price. The P50 performs well and I am satisfied with the purchase. I do wish spare batteries were a bit lower price, but . . . Thanks for the reviews, they are helpful.
I actually watched your vacuum wars videos when deciding what to buy. I needed up with the V10 and could not be happier! I have a 6 month old Dyson Ball Animal 2, which in the UK is the best you can buy. I've had my V10 a week and last night sold my Ball Animal 2 as the V10 really does replace an upright. The battery life is AMAZING!
Just purched the dyson v10 Cyclone Absolute, charged it for about 15 minutes,i did our 2 bed flat no problem,i just returned the shark liftaway. This dyson is awesome, brilliant suction,a lot quieter,no cord,i am over the moon, can,t recommend it enough.
Thanks for your videos. You saved me some cash because I was just going to buy the Dyson because of the name. I bought the shark and am very happy with it. It serves my purposes well. Keep up the good work 😊
Always had Dysons and the cordless handheld was nothing but trouble, finally gave in and got a Shark......omg the amount of crap that came out of my lounge carpet filled it up!! And that wasn’t being picked up by the Dyson....never going to any other brand definitely sticking with Shark 100% outdoes anything else.
The Dyson has more suction but the dust bin sucks. I have shark p50 love it quite, easy to operate you can take container loose vacuum your vehicle and you can have as many batteries as you want to buy. The lights on the front are bright and makes it easy to vacuum. Tried my neighbors Dyson glad I didn't buy one. Plus shark dust bin is bigger. Great for hardwood floors and dog hair.love it love it!!!!!!!!
THX for your reviews I really like them. Bought a V10 last week and eagerly awaiting its arival, I have no functioning vacuum right now and a new one is long overdue. But since I really hate cheap noisy stuff I tend to wait before I'm able to buy a quality product. I have only hard floors so that switching isn't a issue for me.
would love to see a pine-needle pickup test. They're made to clog vacs... I almost bought a P50, but love that the V8 Abs charges in it's wall hanger, and for quick clean ups the Dyson is easier to whip around with the weight up near the handle.
Can't speak to pine needles, but with heavy dog hair, the P50 gets a lot stuck on the brush rolls (both of them) and cleaning head areas and it moves the hair around rather than picking it all up. Dyson is better at pickup and doesn't get all the hair stuck in the brushroll area. And yes, it's super easy for quick cleanups and to 'whip around'. P50 isn't bad. But for me, Dyson is just . . . better.
Thanks a lot for this very informational video. A few more details would have made it perfect. For example, I'd like to know the noise level each of these vacuums make, the amount of time it takes to charge them and how well they perform on picking up human long hair. Some ladies have a massive hair fall and their hair tend to wrap around the roller blades. So in comparison, which vacuums roller blades do a better job at picking up these hair. Also during these corona times, haircuts are home have become common. Would have been great to understand how these vacuums help in that regard as well.
Your first review of the shark p50 changed my mind. Was totally going to go for a dyson but after the shark video me and my wife drove to Walmart and bought it. Love your tests and real world examples. Would of used your Amazon affiliate link but we were too excited to wait 2 days for it to arrive so went to Walmart instead. Thanks again!
I’ve owned two Dyson cordless v models, a v8 and a v11. I had to return both as I got nonstop static shocks from them. We have a mixture of wool and synthetic carpets and wood floor, I get shocks on both floor types from the charging port or if I touch the metal tube. Have you ever experienced anything like that, a quick google search shows it’s common and Dyson just say ‘wipe out the bin and the machine with a anti static wipe’ which does not work!
I already bought the Shark Ion P50 months ago as I absolutely HATE stick vacuums with motors/canisters all on end of a long handle weighing down your arms. It is common sense to me also the small narrow mouth compared to the more robust P50. I love the P50 too which I made that calculation not from these videos but on my own. MY ISSUE is WHY OH WHY IS SHARK PHASING THE P50 OUT WHEN ALL OVER THE RUclips THIS IS BY FAR THE ABSOLUTE BEST CORDLESS VACCUM BY FAR. It is super light, I dont have to have the awkward EXTREMELY frustrating (for me) di-regulated weight of heavy handle on long stick as well as tiny mouth piece - I love not having to get on hands and knees to change mouth parts from hard wood to carpet..and love that I can clean with only a switch of my finger if I wanted to change from hard wood/carpet (but mine does best on brush role since it is a duo with the soft roller anyway on both)!! I also love the fact Shark has lights and they swivel very easy and can get into tiny areas much better than Dyson. It is hands down this vacuum however when i go to buy more Shark doesnt list it anymore?????????????????????????????????????????????? Only the cheap Crapped out stick models they are obviously replacing despite the enormous ratings the P50 is getting? Astounding that Shark is not concerned about keeping customers happy?
Awesome review! Wow, very thorough. Love all that you covered. I am assuming shark and dyson are taking notes from your reviews :) If Shark would've added the Zero maintenance rubber deal on the brush roll, it would be awesome
Great work. I’ve got the P50 (or IC160T as it’s called here in the UK) and I love it. It makes cleaning out three storey house a breeze - and it came with the motorised mini head included. :)
It's 2023 and I'm looking to buy a cordless vacuum. Mainly cause for years my mother made me and my family suffer because of the gigantic rainbow vacuum she had. That day I decided never to have a heavy vacuum. I'm torn between getting a V10 absolute or a V8 absolute. The V8 has better reviews and seems more reliable cause I've heard so many complaints about the longevity of the V10. But while I know not to use the max settings on each the V10 does give me a second power mode I could use, while the V8 doesn't. I'm torn and I wish I could have some advice on which to choose.
Have you seen our comparison of the two? ruclips.net/video/32gZnSBXJCs/видео.html Both of those vacuums have done well for us, so it's mostly about what you're looking for in a vacuum.
I think the dyson wins the ease of use category in my opinion since you can dock it and let it charge. I don’t like that you have to take the battery out of the p50 to charge it, which is why i returned mine. Also the fact that the soft roller seems to push fine debris into the carpet and make it harder for the stiff bristles to get. I like being able to change the heads to clean different surfaces since the dyson heads are really good at what they’re meant for
You don't have to remove the battery to charge the Shark, but you do need to plug the charger cable into the battery - which remains in the vacuum while charging.
As always, it comes down to what’s important TO YOU. If you have a wife (like mine) that gets migraines, noise level matters as does having to bend down to pick up a handle since no others stand upright. If it’s floor space versus wall space or removable batteries, then so be it. I love the fact that these reviews seem to cover 95% of all of these factors with no bias.
Just installed laminate flooring ... I discovered piles and piles of dirt and dust under my carpet and lower foam part -- we’ve been breathing that gunk in.😳
I'm just curious where the mention of a removable battery is? If I'm going to do my whole house, I can have two shark batteries charged to tackle this job. I believe for the Dyson, that means getting two separate vacuum cleaners.
The amount of crap I got out of my carpet with the dyson absolutely amazed me. I had an earlier model but this one is ten times better and better to empty.
shame that the shark p50 has been discontinued as I wanted to buy one after such good reviews. Dont understand if its such a good vacuum why they dont make them anymore
Problem in the test of the Shark model. 1. Have the test person combined carpet drive with boost ? 2. You Can by an Extra battery to the Sharp and continue your work, when the Battery is done. On the Dyson, you have to wait the next 2-3 hours on charging.
What I need to know is if it picks up pet hair really well from rugs. My dog has short hair but sheds like crazy so I'm not worried about it being tangled. In his review he didn't mention anything abt pet hair.
Amazon and Bed Bath & Beyond both have the P50 on sale for $250 in the US today. I bought one from my local Best Buy where they price matched Amazon. Still waiting for the battery to fully charge before I try it out.
I've noticed you've done a review on boards and crevices but don't mention much about it. My whole flat is like that and I was wondering how much suction these vacuum cleaners can do INSIDE the crevices. Thank you for your videos! Also, another point to compare is how much out cost the maintenance after buying. Customer service, replacement parts, etc. Dyson might be awesome but I have a friend saying that after sales support and replacement parts prices sucks. 🤷🏽♀️
I just bought the P50. It's fine. I've had it clog once, and mine doesn't seem to pick up larger debris as well as it does in these videos. Those issues aside though, I haven't had any problems.
Bottom line is the Dyson V8 and V10 clean the carpet better, I don’t care if I have to change tools, nor am I convinced by Shark’s filtration long term. Therefore I’d go with the Dysons.
Can never understand why do not put a separate battery pack in a powered head ,leaving the main battery to take care of suction .Give more life in between charges
For most it's no big deal, and easy to get use to. Plus it's more convenient when you move section to section in between vacuming and nice not having to flick a switch every time you need to stop. Just letting go of the trigger does the job.
Thank you for this review! After watching your 2019 overall review I was torn between both models. Since they fell into two different price points I wondered if the features of the Dyson would justify the price jump. Thanks for helping me make my final decision.
Hi can you please make review of cordless and cord vacuums with same brand like Shark CZ500EUT and p50, and after that with different brands compering. What i like is cord vacuums with rotating brushes.
@@VacuumWars Yeah, first world problem isn't it. lol Btw, after watching your robo vac videos I finally retired my ancient Roomba 561 and got a Neato D5. Found one on Ebay for only $305. I've used it for a few weeks and it is light years ahead of my old roomba both in navigation but also in dust pickup. Thanks for your videos, your scientific approach to testing is great.
I am anti carpets. Missus likes.them. We have a.compromise solution. Fine dust is one of the reasons I prefer hard.floors. And 86% seems fine. May be it requires.another pass. Anyways dyson in India costs as much as a 100cc scooter here. I was curious about this iphone of vacuums. The cheaper ones start around 100 USD here going up.to 200. Dyson is around 700 I believe a bit of dust helps one develop immunity. Call me old fashioned. I did not buy a water filter for a long time. I wanted the kids to get some immunity. Only bought one when a report came that some far away residential area had sewage contamination.
Why would you ever want the main stiff bristle carpet brush roll wearing intensly on your hardwood floor. Sharks duo clean brushes makes no sense to me!! It defeats the purpose of using a soft roller that gently dusts hardwood floors.
Question: The Shark has two heads in one, do does that mean that long hair, or thread (I sew) will get caught in the brush roller part? Or can you disengage the brush roller? Cleaning the brush roller is my most hated job of maintaining a vacuum. Thanks for your awesome review.
I have the shark p50 love it, vacuum dog hair and string from the dog. Doesn't get caught in the front roller gets on the center roller and is easy to clean and the front roller helps pull stuff in . The headlights work great to see trash on the floor. All the controls are right at your thumb. Friend had a Dyson not a fan. The dust bin on the shark is bigger. Love it love it. I have two batteries. One last to do my house twice. Quick cleaning great. Amazon had it on sale 289.00.
Gonna be honest. I don’t see the point of a cordless upright. It’s got all the bad feature of both uprights and handhelds without much of the benefits of either. The only real benefit it has is the lack of a need to swap outlets when you’re doing a large job and that’s something you only have to worry about every once in a while. It’s moderately better at pickup than a handheld in part because of its bulkier frame which makes that benefit come with an even worse trade off.
For quick in between heavy vacuuming jobs a cordless stick vac/ upright is amazing. Some of these do such great jobs you may neglect your plug in unit longer then you anticipate.
Why does dyson least a list it OUT OF STOCK. Do they not wanting us to buy it if why do you think that. I never understood 😕 🤷 even for parts that I want now are listed out of stock
What would be a good price to pay for the Shark? They are currently going for $293 on Amazon. Does the price ever get much lower than that? I see them for $225 free shipping on eBay as well.
Yeah ok, I'll admit I wish that I bought the Shark P50 instead of the V10. I still like the V10 though since it does a great job at cleaning and doesn't stink up the room and is easy to empty which are my main concerns with most vacuums. But yeah the Shark can do all that too and for less, so it wins. Random question: the inside plastic on my V10's dustbin is all fogged up. I've tried wiping it down with isopropyl alcohol but its still fogged. Is there any way to restore it to that clear see through plastic like when new?
Mine is like that too, or at least to some degree. Im not sure how to get it clear or really if it ever really was that clear. If yo ufind out let me know!
No, you can’t restore it. That cloudiness are scratches from dust. You can use a plastic polish to improve it but you can never get it 100% clear again. It doesn’t hurt anything so I wouldn’t worry about it.
If you did the Dyson V10 on Max power then why didn’t you vacuum the Shark Ion P50 on boost mode when doing the deep clean test. If you didn’t that is not a fair comparison!!
Find his 2019 reviews on his site. It shows cheaper, medium, expensive categories and pits the Tineco against the Shark, as well as the T 12 against the Dyson
Which one would you give the point to for crevice cleaning? Also, would you be interested in doing a review of the Swiffer Sweep + Vac? My wife and I just got one as a wedding gift, but we already have a Dyson V10 Absolute. We were curious if we should keep it as a backup or just return it. Thanks for your awesome videos!!
The Shark P50 has a hose that allows you to easily get into crevices. See 4:45 in the video. The Dyson isn't as flexible, either the long neck of the body which will get in the way. Big point to shark.

I just bought the P50. It's fine. I've had it clog once, and mine doesn't seem to pick up larger debris as well as it does in these videos. Those issues aside though, I haven't had any problems.
I love the dyson V10 3x more sucking power then a Walmart vacuum.
true
You should test and review canister vacuums. I do you like your videos for entertainment whenever I am bored. Good job on your videos man.
Powerful saw!
Excellent Reviews! Thank you!
Bottom line is the Dyson V8 and V10 clean the carpet better, I don’t care if I have to change tools, nor am I convinced by Shark’s filtration long term. Therefore I’d go with the Dysons.
I just bought dyson v10, and I think it’s too hard to push on carpet.
I love this vacun. I use and i love it I try many Vacuns but this one win❤😍
if you put the Dyson on max then you should put the ion p50 on boost i would for high traffic areas anyways great video.
Can never understand why do not put a separate battery pack in a powered head ,leaving the main battery to take care of suction .Give more life in between charges
How come no one ever mentioned that you have to continuously hold down the button on the Dyson while you vacuum?
Wait what? Is this true??
@@brois841 Yes my boyfriend has the cordless dyson vacuum and you have to hold down the button continuously to keep it on
@@CruellaDeVil. thanks, tried it at the store today... not a problem at all. Ended up buying the Dyson V10.
@@brois841 I'm glad it worked out for you
For most it's no big deal, and easy to get use to.
Renee Shirey which did you choose? And are you happy with that?
Please for the love of cleaning, look at the Bosch Unlimited!!
Would be interesting a focus on which one is best to clean cars. ..
Hi can you please make review of cordless and cord vacuums with same brand like Shark CZ500EUT and p50, and after that with different brands compering. What i like is cord vacuums with rotating brushes.
Great video but please skip the doorbell dings for points. Very hard to watch when the dog won't stop barking.
Lol 🐕🐶
@@VacuumWars Yeah, first world problem isn't it. lol
Btw, after watching your robo vac videos I finally retired my ancient Roomba 561 and got a Neato D5. Found one on Ebay for only $305. I've used it for a few weeks and it is light years ahead of my old roomba both in navigation but also in dust pickup. Thanks for your videos, your scientific approach to testing is great.
Lol 😂
The question is do you feel comfortable knowing your only picking up 86% of dirt in your carpets?
I am anti carpets. Missus likes.them. We have a.compromise solution.
Fine dust is one of the reasons I prefer hard.floors.
And 86% seems fine. May be it requires.another pass.
Anyways dyson in India costs as much as a 100cc scooter here.
I was curious about this iphone of vacuums. The cheaper ones start around 100 USD here going up.to 200.
Dyson is around 700
I believe a bit of dust helps one develop immunity. Call me old fashioned.
I did not buy a water filter for a long time. I wanted the kids to get some immunity.
Only bought one when a report came that some far away residential area had sewage contamination.
I literally don’t care 🤣🤣🤣
Your "ding" sound kept making my dog bark, so it was hard to hear all the ratings. ;)
I have a Dyson and I don't want it anymore so I will try to buy the shark
Why would you ever want the main stiff bristle carpet brush roll wearing intensly on your hardwood floor. Sharks duo clean brushes makes no sense to me!! It defeats the purpose of using a soft roller that gently dusts hardwood floors.
thanks I don’t know 🤔 which one to chose I like the look of the v10 but the head of the p50
Im throwing my lot in with the P50. It took me a while to realize it but I really like it.
Vacuum Wars same thanks
Tineco: hold my second battery
There is another dock it’s called the dok by Dyson
I think both are good
For all y’all who want the p50 but can’t afford it, get it at Costco for only about 159.99
Question: The Shark has two heads in one, do does that mean that long hair, or thread (I sew) will get caught in the brush roller part?
I may have missed it, but does the v10 have an anti-hair wrap like the v15 or nah?
I have ceramic floors with deep grooves. Which vacuum would work better for cleaning the grooves?
Great review!
How would these work on shaggy, high pile rugs?
You have a beautiful home
Thank you!
Can you please test the dewalt cordless vacuums
Dang it I keep meaning to buy it, thank for the reminder.
This is all good info but I can't get a shark Ion P50 in the UK as far as I know. 🤔 frustrating.
What would be a good price to pay for the Shark? They are currently going for $293 on Amazon. Does the price ever get much lower than that? I see them for $225 free shipping on eBay as well.
I like Dyson. It’s the best for me
Are they good for long halls in an apartment complex for carpet?
Which one would you guys recommend for small 500 Sq ft salon with lots of hair on laminate floor?
The shark is equally good if not better and cheaper
Woot just had refurb P50 for 75 bux!
@@VacuumWars Apparently toothpaste works for defogging plastic car headlights, might give it a try.
If you had them both, as I do, I don't think you'd prefer the Shark. It's good, but for me, the Dyson is better.
@@arevee9429 Go on
No, you can’t restore it. That cloudiness are scratches from dust. You can use a plastic polish to improve it but you can never get it 100% clear again. It doesn’t hurt anything so I wouldn’t worry about it.
You should review the shark apex speed duoclean
Do you have a video on this dyson vs shark duoclean with powerfins corded or cordless ? Thanks
If you did the Dyson V10 on Max power then why didn’t you vacuum the Shark Ion P50 on boost mode when doing the deep clean test. If you didn’t that is not a fair comparison!!
Which is better for vacuuming your car?
So where does the Tineco A11 fit in? After your review I certainly thought it would have been a consideration for best cordless?
Here's a review of V8 vs Tineco A10 that may answer your question. Not an exact match, but close. ruclips.net/video/7tpaszmqmqs/видео.html
are vee Thanks!
i would say tineco A11 is a good rival against v8 and f80, but fall a bit behind V10 and P50
Find his 2019 reviews on his site. It shows cheaper, medium, expensive categories and pits the Tineco against the Shark, as well as the T 12 against the Dyson
Great review
Thanks
Hi great video,I have just bought thick pile carpet,to my shock my Dyson stuck 😩could you reomend an hoover for my thick carpets please
Please reduce the suction mode to min or medium and clean thick carpet ..then it won t stuck
Does the shark work on high pile carpet? My current hoover is too aggressive on my high pile carpet... ....
@@someguygg look up crevice cleaning. The whole point of it is to avoid having to use attachments to clean in crevices. It's kinda a test Dyson created themselves, but no other vacuum has come very close so far
I like how my dyson works
Why the fuck am i watching vacuum videos at 2am? Lol
What about the noise?
