My Vacuum just broke and I've spent about the past 40 minutes watching your videos. This channel is one of the reason why I love the internet! Thank you! lol
I got a V8 about 2 weeks ago, and this video just convinced me I made the right choice over the V10. I was debating whether the extra $300 premium was worth it for the slightly higher torque engine, but this video just convinced me that it's not. They perform pretty much exactly the same, and the areas where the V10 wins, the value isn't worth $300 extra.
I’m about to pickup a v8. The v10 looks like the crem de la cream, however unless money is no object, the v8 seems to do an outstanding job none the less. :-)
Generally, I would default to a reviewer having some ulterior motive, pushing whatever product they're reviewing. But you do a fantastic job at presenting objective, non-biased, factual reviews- and being someone that works in analysis, I absolutely respect your process and have (0) reservations with adhering to your recommendation. Please keep up the amazing job!
I’ve had a V8 for a week, and am very impressed. It’s a better value than the V10, and effectively cleans as well on carpet at normal setting as a V10 does at medium setting. For $399 versus $699, it’s an easy choice, even if not getting as strong a battery or the torque cleaning power. Extra bells and whistles of V10 are a stretch, IMO, at a $300 premium. With $$$ to burn, absolutely go for the V10, though!
The main problem with Dyson cordless cleaners is that they don't last. People write good reviews on Amazon in the first week and then return to give Dyson one star on Trustpilot after a year or two. With cordless tech Dyson became quite aggressive on planned obsolescence and design them for maximising their own profit in a long run.
@oleg, the issue is the battery is not removable nor replacacble. u could ahve double run time with an extra battery to swap but nope. not like dewalt tools when u can do that. shame though, i just picked up the v8, i know it wont last, but its hella conviencent for car cleaning and stairs.
Just bought the absolute V10 for only $399 (dyson is having a sale) the roller brush is amazing on hard wood. Not gonna lie your review influenced me - thanks for your excellent work. It's a great purchase!
@@malamiiiiii I waited a little while and bought the V11 instead , though I don't think there's much of a difference between the V11 and the V10! Overall , it's a life saver , cleaning is so much easier and a huge upgrade from having to lug around the old school style vacuums that are just a hassle to drag around and find a power outlet for.
Ron Miller do you personally think the v8 good? I just bought the v10 via website and I have a 30 day money back guarantee. So I’m hoping it’s worth it. Cost me $1K
@Ron Miller . the rubbish bin opening clasp, did you find it easy to use? does it move smoothly? mine gets jammed or it doesn't run smoothly. very hard to push. I'm not quite happy with my one. ( I haven't even used it yet)
it was to be expected the V10 would score higher and perform better but its almost twice the price so yeah it actually comes down to what you can afford
if there's one thing i absolutely love about your videos. is that its not a fucking 30 minute video talking about shit i dont need to know about. straight to the point and information consumer ACTUALLY give a fuck about. 👍👍
Pedro Santana, está a gostar do Dyson V8, oiço dizer que as baterias morrem em pouco tempo. Mandei vir o V10 Absolute e estou com receio de ter feito má escolha.
Been using Dyson for ages. Still using DC21 Motorhead in the basement. Have V10 on the main floor. Both refurbished, paid about 40% less in this case but running like a champ.
Good review. But no one mentions that Max mode is for stubborn dirt spots. It's not designed to be used on Max all the time of to vacuum your rooms with it on as you only wear out the battery. Also if used on Max for the duration, allow a few minutes before you put it on charge to prolong the battery life as that battery will get very warm in max.
Great video ! And you forgot to mention that both are fitted with a hepa filter, so combined with the cyclones the air coming out of the exhaust is cleaner than the air you breath. Most other vacuums suck up dust and dirt and the finer stuff just get blown back out into the room
Thanks. A battery longevity test of the V8 on low power with powered attachment would be useful since that is the likely use case. I have the V8 and that’s how it’s used 90% of the time. In fact, on high power, the exhaust air blows too much stuff around. I was never impressed with Dyson until I tried the V8. It’s compact size, maneuverability and NO CORD make it a winner in my book. And I’ve been using it for several years.
Yes good call, I will test that setting eventually. With recharge times and the tests themselves it would have taken 2 days to get all those tests in, but you are right that one is important to get.
@@masochistarch1311 I gave the V8 to a family member 6 months ago and at the time it was still working fine and I assume it still is. The battery life did decrease after quite a few years and I spent less than $50 bucks on Amazon for a replacement. Still no complaints about that vacuum and I'd have another Dyson. In fact, I do have another Dyson - the Omniglide. It's OK, but not as useful as the V8.
More than a year now, and I believe I made the right choice going with v8. My friends have v10, v11 and even a v15. The difference isnt much. Hope this helps someone save some money.
My inner filter is blocked again with some fine dust that I stupidly tried to pick up from some Sheetrock. Big mistake! This is my second motor/inner filter as I bought a new one from Dyson six months ago. So a blower is the best way to clean it out? I don't want to have to buy a third motor. Thank you.
I'm so glad to watch this short video that helped me decide which vacuum to get; V10. You really make every second count so your fans don't have to waste any extra time. Thank you! :)
Bought my first Dyson about a month ago. Absolutely fantastic. Love how easy it is to use the attachments. I am actually using them instead of them sitting in their box.
Getting ready to buy one of these have a decent size house all hard surfaces besides rugs 3 dogs what one would you recommend not bother by difference price
I can't decide. We have a two story. I'm moving my DC Animal ball (yes, it's old but still a goodie) upstairs that is mostly all carpet. Downstairs is a pretty even mix of tile and shag carpet. My current Dyson does well where it fits. We don't have a lot of big stuff on our tile. Mainly just dust/pet hair and cat litter. I can not pick between the V8 Animal or spend more for the Absolute. Or the V10 Animal or Absolute?
For some reason, ever since I watched first review on this channel to persuade me to buy the new Dyson V11, I now watch the videos for fun now haha Very awesome reviews actually. I'm impressed !
Best vacuum review on the web. Nice job. Helped me decide if I wanted to spend ~$200 more for the V10 and I plan to. We have a new dog that shed fine hair, and this will reduce the hassle factor of cleaning up the hair drastically.
Great and informative video. I am a little confused which one to buy a V8 or a V10 both (Absolute models). There is not much of a cost difference, hence help me understand if it is a good choice to go for a V10?
I think some of the newer dyson floor heads (such as the torque head) are good examples of why you don’t necessarily need to turn off the brushroll on hard floors, you just need a floor head that’s sealed to the floor. In the video clip of the v8 (i think) picking up coffee grounds, it didn’t seem to spit them out of the back side of the head.
Would be very interested to see in depth review of cleaning the V10 itself, not just a superficial clean but as deep as you can can go inside. With all that suction power there is a lot of material going trough the machine, some of it WILL stick inside, so how easy is it to clean?
Fantastic video. Thank you. On balance the the black Friday sale points I opted for the v8. They both are great cordless vacs, but for me the increased cost of the v10 is not worth it. Esp with a great sale prices!
Questions: 1) I just ordered a refurbished V8 Absolute off ebay for $225 with free shipping that has all parts/accessories in original box, is supposedly in excellent working and aesthetic condition and doesn't look used at all. Should it break on me, can a reputable local vacuum store/repair shop (that sells them) repair standard problems easily enough, or did Dyson make them to be next to impossible to repair? 2) Since the main brush head (?) on the V10 is better, can I track one down someday and use it on the V8? I'm not good about vacuuming super often so when I do, there's usually quite the mess (and we have a large dog). Because of that, I'll never want to vacuum on any speed but high. My mom has the V6 and I'm always having to vacuum as fast as I possibly can (when at her house) before it runs out of juice which is really annoying. The V8 seems better for me than the V10 because of this (there's a V10 for sale on Craigslist right now used for $200) - because of how much longer it lasts in high power compared to the V10. I also like that it's quieter in high power and slightly lighter in weight. This all seems fairly logical doesn't it? Thanks!
Well, Dyson has managed to break the laws of Physics then. Let's see, a zero CFM loss through a wand-to-nozzle joint. Then, another zero CFM loss with a 90 degree turn from input to output within the nozzle itself. And lastly, a zero CFM loss brushroll that's placed directly in the airflow path. That's three levels of added turbulence that results in no airflow penalty at all. Hmmmmmm...........
Yeah I dunno. I have raw video of all of it maybe I'll edit one together and you can see if there is anything worth noting. But yeah those numbers are what I got.
Thanks for the great video! Is there a difference between the fluffy head of v8 and v10? Will the fluffy brush for hardwood floor from my v8 will fit the v10?
I have mostly hardwood with a few rugs i have 2 choices the v10 ANIMAL or the v8 ABSOLUTE, which one would you recommend? I have a small apartment and live alone.
Thank you so much. Can the fluffy brush work on a rug too for light pick up?, hate the thought of having to change out the brush heads, I am so lazy lol
The impressive thing is that Dotson continues to innovate and change their designs this significantly over the years. I’ve never been a fan of stain or bagless vacuums in general but I gotta say I’m really impressed with how much power they’ve been able to squeeze out of such a small package and no mains power.
It really depends on what type of commercial application. I feel the the V10 would work for a small house cleaning business as the battery life is long enough on low or medium power.
I think the V10 with the carpet head featuring the adjustable gates looks like it just pushes debris around the carpet. I've seen it on other reviews too. I have a V8 and it doesn't push much around at all. Looks like they tried to fix a problem that didn't exist as most will use the soft brush head for hard floors anyway.
I have brought V8 absolute just days ago..but feeling bad that i would've chse the V10.. Saw the access.., & pounds,so satisfied with tis V8.. Did i choose correctly?
I think the V8 is a great choice! and yeah the V10 is better but you have to pay a good deal more for it. The bottom line is that the best cordless vacuums in the world are #1 the V10 and #2 the V8
@@VacuumWars there is no much differents money between v8 and V10 here..so But V8 has 2 extra access.. Which V10 dosent have and also V8 itslf little heavy to carry and V10 is more than so.. thats the reason!
2 things you overlooked that I’d find kind of important: what is the run time on low power with a power attachment? And how does V10s medium settings loudness compare against V8s high setting?
So I bought both but decided to stick with the v10. I can clean hard floor on low power with the soft roller just fine. Also I vacuumed with my v10 just two days after my v8 and I picked up much more dirt. I prefer the dust bin of the v8. Overall you can’t go wrong with either one in the absolute version.
I find the Dyson stick vacuums have a very aggressive carpet heads. I would not use it on expensive carpet. In your mother's case I would use a Mille or the v8 soft roller.
The auto shut off feature has nothing to do with the bin being full. Also, the online format doesn’t really improve airflow as the air still has to twist and turn in the cyclones so it’s not straight through and also low power does NOT clean like a corded upright vacuum cleaner does!
We had an old Dyson Stick loved it. Bought the v10 hate it. The filter is always blocked, it fell over and broke, it throws everything out of the head instead of picking it up and it goes flat quickly. I cut all of the filter out and glued the magnetic ring back on and it’s tolerable now
Good review, except for the non-metric units. Ounces, square ft... Don't mean anything to me. Maybe mention metric units in your table as well. #teammetric
Thank you for posting this review. I have a question. Have you tested the Animal version of these two models? Do you know if the hard floor attachment comes with those models as well?
@@mk202 At least for Canadians in 2021: the Absolute has BOTH attachments (torque head for carpets, and soft roll brush for hardwood floors); the Animal only has the torque head for carpets.
This is amazing analysis for those kind of vacuum machines. But in Europe is hard to find Dyson. Will you make a review to Philips Aqua pro 3 in 1? Please :) Thank you.

Around 30mins for the v10 and 25 for the v8. And the V10 in medium is quieter than the v8 on high.
yellow boy thank you sir
@@sdbszz706 no problem.
Right on
best vs video!
Thank you!
With my V10, when the motor stops running after I release the trigger there's a "twang" bouncy sound. Is this normal?
Mom said my v8 dyson would pick her handmade carpets’ knots and mess it up... she tried it for 10secs, we emptied the bin and she was right!
I find the Dyson stick vacuums have a very aggressive carpet heads. I would not use it on expensive carpet. In your mother's case I would use a Mille or the v8 soft roller.

3:49 Did anybody notice the V8's wheels moving in this clip?
V8 useing soft roller time how long ?
I have a bissel powerforce helix. Would the v8 be a good enough upgrade for dog hair and vacuuming carpet? I also want to use it to clean my car
Yeah it will pull double duty nicely.
Wonderful review! Good balance of analytic testing and practical testing when comparing the two. Thank you!
Love my Dyson V8, but after a few months the battery wouldn’t last 15 mins... took in for a repair n works perfect...

Whoa. Excellent data. Subscribed!
Great in depth review, thanks!
Thanks!
Need to have an embedded sand test on carpet
Nice review, we’ll covered
I wished the noise analysis would be more in-depth, but a great review overall!
Can this be used on electronic equipment and bose speakers and bass sets ?
They both have a lot of attachments and the V10 even has a brush specifically for electronics.
Dyson suction with attachments is much nicer to electronics. I vacuum dust out of computer towers with it all the time.
The auto shut off feature has nothing to do with the bin being full. Also, the online format doesn’t really improve airflow as the air still has to twist and turn in the cyclones so it’s not straight through and also low power does NOT clean like a corded upright vacuum cleaner does!
Is the Dyson V8 wand compatible with the Dyson V10 wand?
I know the accesories are, but how about the wand?
Thank you!
Thank you for making this video. No need to upgrade from V8.
We had an old Dyson Stick loved it. Bought the v10 hate it. The filter is always blocked, it fell over and broke, it throws everything out of the head instead of picking it up and it goes flat quickly. I cut all of the filter out and glued the magnetic ring back on and it’s tolerable now
Thanks for your high quality review. Q: Were both units new, or was the V8 you used in the test older?
They were both new at the time.
I don’t have pets so is it worth getting the v10?
Good review, except for the non-metric units. Ounces, square ft... Don't mean anything to me. Maybe mention metric units in your table as well. #teammetric
Ya really, for like 98% of people on this earth, ounces and square ft dont mean shizzle xD
Can you use these with the power cord plugged in? Or will that damage it?
No, they dont turn on when they are plugged in.
Thank you for posting this review.
I have a question.
Have you tested the Animal version of these two models?
Do you know if the hard floor attachment comes with those models as well?
mdredheadguy1979 I’ve been comparing models, and from what I gather, the Absolute has the soft floor attachment- and the Animal does not.
@@mk202 At least for Canadians in 2021: the Absolute has BOTH attachments (torque head for carpets, and soft roll brush for hardwood floors); the Animal only has the torque head for carpets.
just bought the v8 im ready for my life to change
My V10 absolute does not have those two gates on the carpet head, is that only usa models ? I'm in uk
Yes that is only with US model for some reason.
Nooooo...i just bought v10 and one of the readons was these things ! :(
This is amazing analysis for those kind of vacuum machines. But in Europe is hard to find Dyson. Will you make a review to Philips Aqua pro 3 in 1? Please :) Thank you.
Very interesting good advice
What noise meter did you use?
