Would be useful to add how much long hair is tangled in each brush head and which vacuum is best for long hair as I’m looking to upgrade from my v6. Absolute nightmare cleaning hair from hoover brush head.
I was looking at the V8 but saw multiple reviewers say that the life of the battery isn't very long, which you confirmed in this video when you said that the V8 battery typically lasts 2-5 years, while the V10 lasts up to 15 years. Any idea how much it costs to replace the battery (for both models)? Just wanting to weigh that cost against the cost of upgrading to the V10 instead. Thanks!
Don't buy a 3rd party Dyson batteries. You risk having a shorter battery life and possible issues with your Dyson. The average price of the Dyson V8 battery price in Canada is Cad$150
Weak triggers are the issue. Over time the bridge get weak and they break. The gen 5 or the slim is way better. Ordinary on off button. Automatically goes from regular to max mode as it detects heavier debris.
We have started doing that on our newer reviews and comparisons. Here's the exact run time data: DYSON V8 Normal: 31:40 Max: 8:20 DYSON V10 Low: 49:40 Medium: 26:50 Boost: 5:30

Shopping for a Dyson is a PITA! That said thank you for helping make it a little easier. My DC34 battery is about dead, AND we just got a cat. I was trying to buy a new battery and wand attachment, but not even Dyson chat seem to know if the wand from the DC45 can be used with the DC34. If i decide to buy a new machine. If i decide its a Dyson, it'll likely be the V8. HOWEVER because they are like APPLE and make it impossible to buy only what you need conveniently, I'm am trying to figure out what my best option is. V8 Absolute? V8 Motorhead + $150 soft roller - because all I want is the Soft roller for kitty litter on the hardwood. (I don't need the mini-motor or soft brush) or would you say the standard roller is good enough for kitty litter on hardwood? Unfortunately, your review for the direct drive motor on hardwood only showed cheerios, and not rice or litter. so it's hard to tell.
Soft roller is better, but the regular mutli surface brushroll is more than sufficient for kitty litter on hardwoods. I'd just go with the V8 Animal and call it a day. No need to overthink it.
V8 Max Suction = 115 AW V10 Max Suction = 140 AW Max suction is also listed in the video here 1:08 V8 Max Suction Run Time (based on our tests) = 8:20 V10 Max Suction Run Time (based on our tests) = 5:30

Thank you! I'm glad to hear it was helpful.
Let me know how you like the V10! I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Dyson V8 battery is around $50 and the V10 is around $80
Those prices are from the 3rd party battery makers (which tend to be both less expensive).

What about wand head airflow? I have the v8 and notice the airflow at the wand head isn't that powerful.
Not sure how we'd measure that without special equipment.
Looking for one mainly for cat which is better v8 motorhead or v10 absolute
V10 Absolute is notably better, both in terms of suction, run time, and cleaning attachments.
Appreciate the videos like always!
Glad you like them!
Nice review.
