    My main complains from having the V10:
    -Low Battery life w/ long charging time
    -Trigger has no guard so it's ridiculously easy to accidentally set it off
    -Air vent blows directly into face (fortunately the filtration is great)

    I have owned a v10 for around 3 months. Despite the negativity on this thread, I find it to be an awesome machine. Relative to a smart phone and given 5+ years longevity, I don't consider the cost all that bad. It does a fabulous job on my 65m2 apartment leaving the floors noticeably cleaner and vacuuming is fun again! For my requirements I can just about clean the entire floor area on a single charge and there is absolutely no battery fade. Admittedly using the carpet attachment drains the battery more quickly, but with 1-2 uses per week this has been a transformation and it is taking less time to get the same result as my previous machine. The only complaint I have is that the filter appears to need a monthly clean, but I understand that's normal for a bagless device. If you have a large house with carpets, however a battery operated machine might not be appropriate.

    I decided it was important to update this video with a new, small section on max run time and also a clearer section on V10 vs V8 run-time and power (all data & info originally presented was accurate just so you know). I apologize to those who watched or commented on the video already. I very much appreciate anyone watching my videos and especially those who take the time to comment. Unfortunately I learned that you cannot edit a RUclips video but rather have to replace it, thereby removing everything associated with it. The original video has been up for about 5 days and I thought if I was going to make an edit I better do it soon - this video will be up for several years I suspect. I will try to ensure this doesn’t happen again (at least to the best of my ability!).

    A locking button for the on/off switch is a simple affair that I have on most of my power tools. Shape up for V11.

    • @Alexander_l322
      @Alexander_l322 4 года назад

      Your cordless drill doesn’t have a lock does it? The dyson doesn’t for a good reason so if you’re that lazy where pressing a trigger is hard for you then you’ve probably not vacuuming as much as you should be anyway.

    • @stenmoeller
      @stenmoeller 4 года назад

      @@Alexander_l322 Of course it does. As I say, I have that on most of my power tools. If you don't care about it, that's all right by me, but I want one, so don't patronize me. OK?

      Sten Møller I have yet to find any drill that has a trigger lock that I’ve ever bought because they are not great, only good for mixing or using a wire brush attachment. I do care, I own a V10 and it’s great in fact better than any corded vacuum I’ve ever used and it not having a trigger lock makes it even better. Get one or a V11 but don’t expect it to lock on as that is such a dumb idea on drills and cordless vacs but for different reasons. OK?

    • @Alexander_l322
      @Alexander_l322 4 года назад

      Sten Møller well actually there is an aftermarket attachment you can buy to add a lock to the trigger but it’s not included in the original design for good reason. Only old people/ people with arthritis may see a benefit but also will see reduced run times. OK?

      @@Alexander_l322 I cannot comprehend why you bother to argue. If you read carefully, I say "most of my power tools". The drill is just one. And you don't know how I use my tools. So why do you bother? You be happy without it, I want it. OK? - The End -

    The biggest plus of the V10 for me is the canister capacity upgrade. I use my V8 to vacuum my upstairs which is hardwood and carpeted and I have to empty it 3-4 times each session depending on how much hair the dogs have decided to leave behind that day. I have two heavy shedding dog breeds (and a cat that sheds a bit) so the task at hand is a big one sometimes.

  • @jcepri
    @jcepri 6 лет назад

    Extremely thorough. Thank you. I just bought the V10 (Cyclone Animal) at Target and tried it out today. This is my first Dyson, so I don't have any comparative experience to share. However, I will say that most of the concerns seem minimal too me. I am most surprised by the weight. I thought it would be lighter than it is. But the most SHOCKING thing I learned was how deep and wide my "debris field" was this morning. I did a double take when I saw all of the cat fur in that canister.

I hate removing the wand before emptying the canister. I just want to grab the vacuum and go. When full I like to just go over the garbage can click it to open. Snap it back and keep vacuuming or hang it up. I vacuum because I have to not because I want to :)

      You have to rethink the way you vacuum your house from a scheduled to an ad hoc approach. Instead of cleaning the entire house in one session, vacuum sections at a time. Depending on the size of your home, you may end up vacuuming 4-6 times a month but I rarely spend more than 10-15 minutes of vacuuming at a time. The ease of use of lightweight, cordless vacuums like Dyson perfectly cater to this method.

    Last week I learned from Dyson’s Helpdesk that they will not guarantee any defects on the machine that were caused by using the V10 for smaller dust, like baking flour or (cold!) ashes. I contacted them because I had found out that I had to clean the filter every two days or sometimes even after one operation when I cleaned the area around our wooden stove. Washing a Dyson filter means having it dry for 24 hours, so I did not find that very convenient for a machine of this price. In the manual however, there is not a single word about the V10 not being suited for cleaning this stuff. Have you heard about this?

      funny you bring that up Jack, that's what I actually ended up buying, I got the Miele C3 Cat & Dog from ebay $350 (I fished around for 2 months) it's amazing just what I needed it's versatile, powerful and light. The extending wand acts like the v10 I can get up to my tallest ceilings and fans, and it's lighter in the hand then the V10. I've tried the V10 Hard2bear, I really wanted to like it but I ended up returning it, it just didn't live up to what I was looking for, I think for an apartment or like you said spot cleaning it works great, but for me as my only vacuum it was just inconvenient not being able to swap the battery when I needed it but needed to wait for a charge. May be the V12 will solve all those issues

I have a 800 sq, 1BR with mixed hard floor and carpet. Even if I owned a house where I might run out of power, I would just plan my cleaning so that I am vacuuming sections of my house at different times, cleaning while charging. Exactly, they're just following smartphone planned obsolescence with unchangeable batteries. Battery life becomes too short just out for warranty and well before the products expected useful life. Even if they offer a battery replacement program they still make more money from the people who will just go out and buy the next new model.
      It's a shame because whilst I replaced my old dyson stick, I managed to buy a knock off battery for the old one and gave it to my parents to use in their motorhome, so it's still in use today rather than being discarded like some of these un-replaceable battery models might be.

    I felt I made a wrong decision in getting my first Dyson V10 Absolute Vacuum. I only used it for 5 times throughout my ownership of this vacuum. I use and charge up the battery 1 time every 4 months. My Battery died with a blinking red light on me even if I only use the vacuum at a medium setting and charge the battery of the vacuum after usage. I only use the vacuum for cleaning the ceiling cobwebs as I have another robot vacuum for cleaning the floor. The hype that the battery lifespan lasts a very long time is really an oversell. I found out from a lot of user complaints on the web. I really was disappointed with the vacuum. The low setting is weak, mid was just nice, the high is too strong.

    Just bought mine a few days ago. I agree with some of your points. I will say overall I am satisfied however the one issue I had to mention is the lack of a non-powered wide sweep accessory head with the purchase of the device. I want the battery to last a long time so I don't mind using a non powered accessory however my Dyson only comes with the powered wide sweeper head. I had to buy an aftermarket sweep. This accessory should come standard with purchase in my opinion. Just my $ 2 cents.

      Idontgive Ashit how so? The bin empties fine, okay it's a bit longer than the V8 and V6 but for this you get a bigger bin capacity.

    • @idontgiveashit5401
      @idontgiveashit5401 6 лет назад +5

      Slightly more capactiy and 20 mins more on battery for half the power on the same setting which is needed to hit 60 mins while costing almost twice as much? Sorry but the V10 is overall a sore loser against the V8.
      Plus, my V8 doesn't sound like a lawnmower raping a chalkboard with spiked blades.

      Idontgive Ashit it's a vacuum not your wife...get a grip for Christ sakes. I don't use low I use medium and get all the vacuuming needed finished with battery to spare so it's great for me. You go enjoy your V8, but be safe...

    • @VacuumAdvisor

      The dustbin is fairly straightforward to empty. If you are asking how to take it completely off the vacuum that is quite easy as well. When you open the dustbin (you've pushed the red lever forward and the dustbin door is open) you will notice a small red tab with a white arrow on it just in front of the red lever. If you depress this tab you can then easily pull the entire dust canister assembly off. I hope that answers your question.

    Anyone thinking of buying a cordless vacuum needs to compare Dyson offerings with newest products made by AEG and Bosch. The newest product from Bosch ( not the Athlet ) seems good. I reckon the move towards cordless is inspired by the fact that high priced cordless have more profit than lower prices mains powered vacuums. Some cordless vacuums come with two batteries, so no problem if battery goes flat half way through cleaning, you just plug in the second battery.

    • @acereport8939

      JackBN Your battery died because it wasn’t used heavily. Letting a battery sit for too long will result in damage. I constantly have this problem with my RC batteries. On the one hand, I want to stock up so that I’ll have plenty of extra batteries but the lack of use causes them to fail. It’s better to use your batteries regularly to keep them working.

      My brother is in a wheelchair, has asthma and allergies, and uses one of these so he doesn't have to deal with the cord. He uses his exclusively and regularly. His batteries died in just over two years.Since the paperwork that comes with the vac said you void the warranty unless you take it to an authorized repair shop, we called and were referred by Dyson to 2 or 3 shops. We took it in, and guess what? The battery and filters are not covered! The HEPA filters and seals don't last forever either. The filters, battery, seals and whatever else the shop did cost my handicapped veteran brother over $200 bucks that was not covered under the warranty Dysons are POS!! So if you take the original cost and this repair that vac is costing him $27 a month just to have the privilege of using it! On the other hand, I bought an Oreck approximately a year before he got this POS Dyson and the Oreck costs about $8 per month, including purchase price, bags and maintenance. Big difference that adds up over time -- approximately 200 bucks a year (or a grand in five years, if the POS Dyson even lasts that long) that I'm sure will get much more, cuz there's no doubt in my mind that the Oreck will last years longer -- I took my old Oreck which is now 20 years old to our beach house and it's still going strong. So there's no doubt in my mind that over the years, there will be an even bigger difference!

    I bought a v10 about 1 and 1/2 years ago. it came with a stand to hold the attachments and to charge it. last week the clear plastic dust bin broke and now it comes completely off and lands in the garbage can. have contacted Dyson via email but have not heard from them. this is definitely a design flaw!! I have taken very good care of this vacuum and clean it every time I use it. From what I have researched I am not the only one with this problem. also read that the v11supposedly has larger tab on bin to keep this from happening. Also read that the V10 docking station cannot be used with the v11 because motor head is a different shape. I like my docking station so will never by V11. Called Dyson a few minutes ago and they told me I would have to have the entire motor head replaced, not just the bin. They told me where to take it and they would give me a new one minus the tools. We will see what happens. Will let you know.
    UPDATE: CALLED THE DYSON REPAIR PLACE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEIR WAS A REPLACEMENT CLEAR DUST BIN. WOULD ONLY NEED THAT REPLACED AND NOT ENTIRE MOTÖRHEAD. TOOK ME A FEW DAYS TO GET TO REPAIR PLACE(WAS AN HOURS DRIVE FROM MY HOUSE) BECAUSE OF LOTS OF RAIN IN MY AREA. WENT THERE LAST WEDNESDAY AND THE REPAIRMAN PUT A NEW DUST BIN ON RIGHT AWAY. THEY HAD LOTS OF VACUUMS IN THERE BEING WORKED ON AND 2 REPAIRMEN. GLAD I DID NOT HAVE TO LEAVE IT AND MAKE ANOTHER TRIP OVER THERE. WORKS GREAT. VERY SATISFIED. LOVE MY V10 STICK CORDLESS VACUUM. LIKE IT SO MUCH I ORDERED ANOTHER ONE FROM HSN THAT WAS ON SALE AND FREE SHIPPING. EVERYTHING TURNED OUT GREAT!

    Dead easy way around this for anyone with any skills. Just open the machine up and drop a few wires down from the battery contacts inside the hoover. Then wire on your own choice of connectors {spades, Andersons, etc} and hook up a 22v battery that you made up from round cells or like one of those lawnmower batteries. I did this for myself with a brand new V10 Absolute.
