Personally our V6 is quite adequate. You’ll find in real world use you want less power with the fluffy head otherwise it’ll toss stuff instead of picking it up. It is so light you can one hand it and vacuum corners and drapes and maneuver it around in your car. Make sure you get the whole suite of attachments and get the absolute for the second filter and all the powered heads. Some issues that come up: Dirt and dust gets so into these things you want to empty them outside otherwise you’ll set off a dust bomb in your house. I often find you not only need to pop the lid but take the whole dust bin off (not that much harder). Over time dirt and dust will collect around the leads at the top of the bin which you’ll need to clean occasionally else the powered heads will lose power. Every year or so you’ll want to detail strip and clean the whole vacuum and the heads. You’ll be amazed how nasty they get. You’ll especially get a ton of hair wrapped around the direct drive. These things are godsends for houses with stairs and bad backs. You can basically Vacuum and with it mounted to the wall to charge never really bend over!
+ He put a lot more corn flakes for the v6 compared to other models, especially at the start with a huge heap of it. Begins hoovering from the side for each except the v6. AND again for the v6 at the end, he doesn't keep the noozle on the rice the whole time, you can hear it by the sound. Biased review.
Also notice when the v8 was going, it looked like it was going to pick up everything but he stopped and turned the machine off right as it was about to finish, and with the v10 he kept on going until the head went over the carpet, very unfair and biased
Well yesterday 23/08/18 I bought my wife the V6 model and she's 'been using the Henry that is quite good but after using the V6 in the front room we are quite impressed with the Job it's done and we can notice the difference. Dog hairs seem a breeze for it, just wish my funds stretched to the V10 model. We are both disabled and using it is less work than the Henry. Battery size could be a little more capacity but all in all it's excellent.
You prolly dont care but if you're bored like me atm you can stream all of the new series on instaflixxer. Have been streaming with my brother lately :)
Of course something changes from one test to another because of a man is not a robot and he does something different from one model to another but it's the best comparison video on the web according to me.
Wow, I really enjoyed this video, very detailed, calm and to the point. I just purchased the v6 because we only plan to use it on a big rug in our family room and the vehicle from time to time. But I do not recommend anyone to get it if it is to clean the home, is just to small and battery will run out on you half way. The v8 seems to be the winner here for me, quality vs price specially if you find it on sale would be the right choice to make.
You missed the previous generation DC30 series... The 'A' models of these had the useful feature of a removeable battery! Great video but please speak up a bit....
Loved the review comparison Me and my brother are buying for our mother the V8 absolute as I am texting this comment Thanks so much for a great comparison Cheers Mate
What a confusing product line. This video definitely helps, but there are several variations of each version as well. That’s another hour of videos to understand that. And here I am, after two hours of research, and I still haven’t clicked the “checkout” button.
In the video, you said that while the V8 and V10 Absolute do come with the fluffy head, you also said that the Total Clean versions do not come with the Fluffy head, when in fact, they do. The V6 Total Clean, V7 Total Clean, V8 Total Clean and V10 Total Clean models all come with the fluffy head. The V6 Absolute and Total Clean also come with the direct drive cleaner head, so maybe a fairer comparison would have been to use the V6 Total Clean, or the V6 Absolute in your test there, and then all four machines would have used the same powerhead, rather than the V6 being the odd one out with the lesser rated head found on the base models of V6.
I resisted buying the earlier models even though they are heavily discounted now. The earlier models are outdated and the run times are not as long as they say. 20 mins run time on a V6 is total rubbish. I've run a stop watch on one on the low setting and the best it could manage is approx 11 minutes. In Max mode it would die in 3 mins. I bought a V10 and it's great. Got it for a very good price, around 400 dollars less than a V11, which I think is a little over rated compared to the V10. Good video nonetheless.
Bought a V8 absolute and a 4000mAh battery replacement so I could have almost 1.5 hours vacuum time on it. It only was 180 for the V8 absolute and 30 bucks for the 4000mAh battery. I strongly dislike how the V10 and V11 empties, having to remove the attachment every time gets annoying.
@@Pwn3dbyth3n00b That's good thinking getting the larger battery. Emptying the bin on the 10 - 11 isn't a big deal really. Removing the attachment makes it lighter and easier to handle when emptying and gives you an opportunity to give it a more thorough clean too. If that's the only thing that bugs you about the 10, then it's ok by me. All the best for the New year !
Hi, If you have a V6 or before like the DC44 or DC59 then those tools won't fit the V7 and V8 onwards unfortunately. If you are going to get a more up to date cleaner, try and get the tools required with the vacuum rather than having to buy any tools afterwards.
I have noticed there seems to be more than one model of the V10 being advertised. The V 10 animal, total and absolute and motorhead. Is there much difference. I don't have carpet so would I benefit just as well with the V7. I am thinking of upgrading from the V6.
It really depends if you want a vacuum with a long runtime. For performance we would always recommend the V10 or even the new V11, but if it was out of the price range then go for the V8. The main head to use for floors would be the direct drive head and for the stairs make sure you get one with the small motorised head, as it can be used for furniture as well.
Very informative video. It's hard to believe that some criticized the amount of cornflakes used and the way some models were used over others. Some people really work hard to find fault in anything. That said I enjoyed the different tests use to compare the models. I currently have the V6, but always wished that I had more suction. Now I'm leaning towards at least the V8 model in the future!!
Hi, this worked OK for a few months but then it started to develop a problem - it runs for 20-30 seconds or so and then stops running, it then wont run again until several hours later or sometimes the next day. I build race cars so I dont mind trying to fix stuff, I got in touch with customer services and I set about cleaning filters, disassembling the unit, changing filter for a new one etc - the kind of stuff that no housewife/mum has time to do - after all this the Dyson still doesnt work, so I can build a car engine from parts but I cannot fix this vacuum cleaner. Got in touch with customer services again who said "buy a new battery for £60" - unbelievable, so the battery in my phone works everyday for years but the same type of battery in the dyson lasts only 6 months charged around once a week. We have since gone old school and are now using the stand up dust pan and brush, we do not miss the crappy Dyson but id like my £250 back from that self-superior sounding con-man off the TV who has sold me a pile of rubbish.
I did consider putting the prices on but they can fluctuate in the market a lot and I wouldn't want to mislead anyone on what the pricing is. Nothing worse than getting to a website and the price being higher than you thought.

The fluffy head is the best cleaning head and looks like a lot of vac cleaner companies coped it somewhat. Can you imagine what the next generation Dyson DC11 will do?
I call BS on the cup of rice test between the v6 and the v7. Even though you didn't mention whether youre in low mode or high mode the v6 has MORE power on low mode and equal power on high mode so whichever mode you tested at, the V7 is no more powerful than the V6.
Totally biased review. They just want to sell you a v10. The other models are just as effective is same demo given to each one. V6 are much cheaper and great at what they do so get a reconditioned one.

Most people when they vacuum do no have large quantities of rice or cornflakes on the floor. It’s usually dust, bits of anything. Also who uses their Dyson on the lower power, I only use mine on max. So only interested on max power run times that you didn’t mention.
Hi .. if you owned them all and you don't need one of them, can you give me the one that you wouldn't need? I really need it 6, 7 or 8 .. anything of it. I need a broom from Dyson

You missed some very important factors here which ALMOST makes me think this is a paid video for Dyson. THE MOST important factor in what Dyson is CLAIMING to be a full replacement for corded vacuums is ACTUAL run time. Educated consumers should know that mfg posted performance is often utter BS and Dyson is no different. So, when you use the standard motorized head (the one most comparable to an upright) your runtime is severely cut. You're looking at 20-25 mins on the V10. Now, if you use the MAX mode on any of these.....you're looking at LESS THAN 10 MINUTES of runtime!! That alone tells me the CEO of Dyson is a complete idiot and if he sticks to his guns about not developing corded vacuums anymore, well you can kiss Dyson goodbye. It could take 3 DAYS to vacuum a typical 2 story 3 bd home. (recharge time is closer to 5 hrs IRL on V10) The problem...this guy is European and lives in a region dominated by small homes that often don't have carpet throughout the house. Dyson is going to get killed by Shark because of this.
The Dyson vacuums are all cheap junk that feel like toys. The parts fit poorly, the plastic is brittle and chintzy and everything just feels cheap. Going from a Miele canister vacuum to a V8 I can tell you that Dyson is just very technology forward with a high marketing budget but the products are very very low quality. Even Hoover and Bissell vacuums are visually more refined and use better materials. The biggest surprise and shock for me was the low quality of my Dyson.
It is true that they seem like toys, and they've definitely cheaped out on some materials that lend to a low quality feel. However, as far as performance is concerned they're pretty good. I've yet to see a cordless vacuum that even comes close. Most of the corded vacuums people claim are superior, like Miele, Sebo, etc., definitely feel like higher quality machines, but every one I've tried has been a disappointment in terms of performance. Now, at the list price it's hard to justify the Dysons, since they don't have a high quality feel, and they do have a lot of lower quality plastic parts that will probably break over time, but since you can often find them at half the price of a comparable Miele or Sebo vac, and a quarter the price of something like a kirby, they can be a pretty good deal.
i don't agree, pastics looks like shit ok, but this plastic is very strong, my mother has a very old dyson, and nothing is broken. It looks cheap, but it isn't
Sorry but they're all plastic crap. I've owned most at one time or another and Hoover upright's have all suffered with a 'back-breaking' problem meaning they no longer stand upright!
Headphone users are in for a treat with this gorgeously tuned gem and some of the highest quality sounds I've ever been exposed to! Love!

i don't agree, pastics looks like shit ok, but this plastic is very strong, my mother has a very old dyson, and nothing is broken. It looks cheap, but it isn't
In Soviet Union we used to operate vacuums made of cast iron! The quality was the best ever available! You had 2 choices: you buy vacuum or use brush!
Sorry but they're all plastic crap. I've owned most at one time or another and Hoover upright's have all suffered with a 'back-breaking' problem meaning they no longer stand upright!
Great video
