I note a number of rather snide comments on this and other recipe films on this channel.. The point is, these ideas are not aimed at chefs, they are basic technique for people who want to cook and enjoy delicious food. It's the person who finds lasagne complicated, or doesn't have too much time who is the target audience. Lovely recipe as ever, full of essential practise and wonderful ingredients. Tasty! Nice one Jamie. ⭐👍
There is no basic technique here, just bad technique. You won't learn anything about cooking by watching this video, almost everything is bad, and the result is a disgusting looking lushy-mush of vegetables that you would be ashamed to call a lasagna. Barely a soup.
If he named his dishes something original it would be OK. But he calls things by a name people know and then makes something unrecognizable and offensive. Consider if you watched a non English cook make a meat pie without using ANY of the ingredients or techniques of a meat pie. It's ridiculous. I think he's just rage baiting.
Brilliant! What I love most about your methods is, that you explain and make it easy even for the novices. As an older cook, I still like to learn quick n’ easy tips.
A little 'knob' of butter, a little 'bump' of pesto, and a firm shag of the pan and voila! A nice creamy lasagna in your pre-heated oven. One-Pan à la Scruffy Vag Lasagne!
I suggest use UHT milk when putting it straight into a hot pan that is on the stove, as fresh milk curdles. UHT milk does not curdle when added to a pot that is cooking.
I tried this, and while I like the technique with the ‘quick bechamel’ and stir-in lasagne, the flavors were pretty flat. I’m going to try it with some spicy crumbled sausage and some tomato-based sauce stirred through. That might make it a two-pan meal, but I think it’ll be worth it.
If you are experiencing a loss of taste or difficulty distinguishing flavors, it is important to consult with a healthcare professional. This can be caused by a number of factors such as a cold, sinus infection, or a more serious condition such as anemia or nerve damage. They can determine the cause and recommend appropriate treatment. In the meantime, you can try experimenting with different seasonings and spices to add flavor to your food. Additionally, you can try eating foods that are naturally strong in flavor such as garlic and ginger.
Up until I saw this recipe I'd never attempted to make a lasagne. The simple method encouraged me to have a go. As Jamie says, you can add different bits to suit your own taste. I've since made it in a "semi scruffy" way, which involves layering the pasta sheets conventionally and giving it 45 mins in the oven to ensure it's cooked through. I still use the basic quick Béchamel sauce as before. I put in the mustard with added garlic and plenty of black pepper. It's one of my favourite dishes now ☺
