The people in these comments are my people! Just remember that even though we tackle more skin and makeup concerns, we a so much smarter than our younger selves!🎉🎉🎉💕
Great tips Marnie-and agree with all except ditching the eyeliner. As a61 year old I find my eyes disappear without it-you simply have to adjust the placement. I always tight line and find that a baby wing, usually just with shadow or pencil, can really lift the eye. And I can even line the outside third of my lower lashes with pencil and soften with shadow. As you said we have to adapt our technique and not be afraid to try-makeup will not make us look younger but I will never give up trying to look my best.
I'm 62 and do the exact same thing. In addition to adjusting the placement, I have also softened the colors I use. I never use black. Grey or soft brown is so much better!
So happy to hear the 2 ladies here! I'm over 60 and eyeliner is the #1 make up go to for my small , now deeper set eyes! Maybe I'm delusional, but I feel a little under my eye actually opens it up ... too much on the upper lid makes the eye heavy and closed. It's not a heavy line, and I don't use black. I wear glasses and helps make my eyes popl I also have REAL hooded eyes - curling my lashes would make the ends land right on the hood - can't do it any more.
I’m 60 and I think that my friends that wear it under their eyes really date themselves. People are addicted to lower eyeliner. If you just do without it for a month you’ll get use to it.😊
Yes, I need the eyeliner to make my eyes pop - but, a softer hand does help keep it look modern, but, without a light touch of pencil eyeliner along my lower lashes, and a touch of liquid black on the outer 1/3rd of my upper lashes, i feel like my eyes vanish.
Very pretty and youthful. I’m 72, on a fixed income so I’ll watch this again and check out some less expensive options. During COVID I kind of just didn’t even do good skin care. Coming out of COVID I had all of these silver streaks and felt kind of lost . This is so helpful. I did discover NYX shopping online and I love the eyebrow brush, it’s so tiny. Thank you, wonderful tips.
This was EXTREMELY helpful! I'm 41 and I knew the heavy eyeliner look was out and was only making me look older, but I just didn't know how to move on, lol. I also really appreciated the product recommendations. We have very similar skin tones, and I plan to swing by the drugstore today to update my aging make-up bag...thank you so much!
Great tips. My number 1 tip would be to remove the peach fuzz. The best makeup application would be minimized by distracting hair poking off the face and neck!!
I love the freedom of no eye liner. I stopped it on the bottom first, and more recently ditched it altogether. It was just making a mess with my smile crinkles and also my eyes water a bit.
Hi Marnie, I'm 63 and rarely use eyeliner on top of my lids. What I love to do instead is to tightline my lids with a deep brown or soft black. It makes my green eyes pop without closing them in. Thanks for the tips!
I'm so proud to say I do all of your recommendations already: concealer, eyebrows (nyx eyebrow glue with lift n snatch pen is my holy grail) always use mascara, always use eyelash primer (I love the clinique primer and also the lancome primer) and definitely no heavy liner on the bottom, I like to use eyeshadow powder as eyeliner for the top lid, blush is a must but I mix it with bronzer for a more natural look and just started using a retinoid from Clinique...turning 40 soon
This was my favorite video you have ever done. Thanks!! My favorite tip was the eyelash curling tip. Have owned one for years but used in only a few times. Used it this morning which is a casual stay home day. Did not use any mascara but eyes look pretty darn good. will follow all of the tips and appreciate the time you spent on this.
I appreciate the suggestion on cardigans. I love cardigans because my body temperature changes all the time during the day, but I was feeling like I looked old and sad. The chunky updated cardigan gives me hope. I’m going to try that!
Skin care is SOO important! Doesn't matter if you spend $100 on foundation and $50 on concealer etc, if your skin underneath is bad, all the expensive makeup in the world won't make you look good. Your skin is the canvas for the art that is your makeup!
Love, love, love your makeup. I've never been much for foundations and heavy makeup. While getting into watching makeup tutorials, I started applying heavy foundation and contours, blushes, concealers, etc. I didn't recognize myself. And it felt heavy, dirty, and just uncomfortable. I'm so glad I saw your tutorial. I'm going back to tinted moisturizer and light overall makeup. I still can't wait to get it off at night, but heavy makeup is just not for me. Loved the tip in where to place the blush thank you.❤❤❤
Timing of this is great. I am hitting 40 and have really dry skin and allergies (meaning under eye circles and dry texture). I am on the lookout for other products that will better match my skin issues at this point in my life. Thank you for options from different price points as well as the tips and tricks!
Such a good informative video. I only started wearing makeup fully about 3 years ago because I was turning 50 and could no longer get away with no makeup. I totally agree that doing just the basics makes such a huge difference. I cannot go back and totally enjoy the process of putting on my makeup. These are great tips and you have reminded me to use my eyelash curlers more.😊
Me too! I’ve tried to not use mascara and liner on the bottom of my eyes and I look terrible. Just can’t get used to it. And eye shadow as a liner comes off. 😂
I think a lot of it is seeing something different than what you're used to. Try just skipping the liner under your eye but do everything else the same.
Wonderful video - thank you for all this great advice! I have been using the Trish McAvoy Instant Eye Lift ever since you first recommended it. While I love playing with makeup to enhance my maturing features, we also need to remind ourselves that aging is a gift that not everyone is fortunate enough to experience. Thank you for your consistently enjoyable content!
First time watcher today on my 62nd birthday. Love your tips & took notes. You look great, no nonsense, honest instruction. As I age, I find I'm not talking to peers about these things any more & love taking tips from my beautiful 30 year old daughters, but they're not savvy about my age skin. I'll probably never do the botox, but I'm all about the other skin care you mention & should've been at it for years by now. Fortunately, my Norwegian grandmother passed her great skin to me. But... time to be more intentional & I thank you!
The Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer is wonderful. Thankfully, we have the same fair complexion, so I order the same colors as you. The NYX tinted brow gel is a great product especially for the price. Thank you for reminding me to purchase the By Terry hyaluronic powder. I have been wanting to try that and they have a new eye pallet. I will be placing an order today. A year or so ago I started using Colleen Rothschild’s products on your recommendation. I love them all, and my 20 year old daughters noticed a difference with my skin and how good it looks. Another great video and thank you for all the advice!
Love, love your videos ! I am 59 and watch these kind of tutorials all the time to try and not look old and out of date on my styles. I am the worst at the heavy eyeliner, because I have small, cat eyes, and thought it made them look better, so I’m going to change that look starting tomorrow!Good advice is always welcome ! You are hilarious and also gorgeous! I do have trouble finding the right color foundation, and have probably 20 different types, but can’t figure out which one looks the best on me, HELP ! Thanks Marnie !
Marnie- fabulous tips😊 And definitely ones I incorporate on the daily as a 57yr young gal.Thank you :) One extra tip I picked up awhile ago and really seems to work is not taking your lip liner all the way to each corner. Stopping 3/4 of the way seems to give the appearance of fuller, voluminous lips. Can’t remember which influencer I learned it from but it sure made a difference when I tried it😉 Have a beautiful week! Xo Tammy 🇨🇦
As a 47 year-old wiser woman, 😂, I really loved this video. The one thing I’m going to change is to apply my concealer/corrector under my eyes before my tinted SPF. I am super fortunate to not need coverage products :) I also agree with ditching the eyeliner. I’ve realized it just does not look as good as it used to
If you don’t care about touching up try Physician’s Formula concealer with SPF. It comes in a tube with a blue top? It’s part of their “defense” line. You barely need to touch it other than to blend the edges. Apply it before foundation and it’ll blend in a little better. Or if you use concealer to brighten apply it afterwards and you’ll get some contouring. I love that it has SPF and doesn’t burn my eyes. It’s pretty opaque.
Love love this. Thanks especially for the skin care routine. I will be 65 in May and have very sensitive skin and looking for a routine. I even have trouble with the Neutrogena line. Really enjoy your content and blogs.
Hi Marnie, Very good, helpful video. One thing I found as I got older (I'm 65) my eye brows started to turn gray. I didn't feel comfortable dying them so I found a good eye brow pencil that covers the gray and lasts all day. It is the Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Long Wear Brow Pencil. It costs $45, but then the refills cost $28. This pencil looks natural and it works great. I had super oily skin when I was young and even now its not dry, but not as oily. I have had to change my foundation over the years. I use Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick and also rotate Clinique Superbalanced Make up. I also use a Clinique mineral sunscreen. I use a cream blush and a powder highlighter on top of the blush. I love that Romantic Rose lipstick on you. Next time I order some make up I'm going to get that color. You have so many pretty lipsticks that you wear in your videos, but that one is a star. I was disappointed that Estee Lauder discontinued the beautiful pink called Impulsive. I have found Pinkberry is pretty too. You may like that one. Although I still miss Impulsive. Thanks so much for the fun video. I'm going to be more careful where I place my blush. Have a lovely Sunday! xoxo, Karen
I’m 70 and for some reason Clinique superbalanced is always the best . I e tried many but this one is perfect . Glad you mentioned this . Thanks Karen !
This video was awesome… thank you. Do you have any videos/tips in packing light your make up skin products? Just easy must haves if you have to pack just a carry on. What would you take foe bare minimum?
First off thank you for doing videos for us gals over 40! I feel like we’re kinda neglected. For me I have found that Aveeno positively radiant face wash works very well for me, and I use a product called Bliss Kiss it’s an amazing moisturizing stick & last for a very long time.
What I’ve gained from changing my diet to mostly staying in the produce section of the grocery store that hydration is judge , fruits, oranges and lemon waters really hydrate my skin from the inside.
I’m going to be 44 and haven’t really accepted that fully. This helps as far as helping me transition into being ok being my age. Wrinkles, dry skin, sunken eyes…not sure how to make it work. Thank you for this!
It's all about perspective. ;) Something that helps me when I'm feeling like that is to imagine my future self, say 10 or 20 years from now, and how I'll wish I still looked like I do today. Compare yourself to the future, not the younger you or other younger women. But also, I'm finding as I age (now 50) I have so much more confidence and wisdom to share that I'm not as pre-occupied with the physical changes happening to me.
I have to say that I neglected touching my brows until lately….now I just dye them! You definitely lose your features if you don’t treat your brows and lashes a bit! Also, my 15 year old daughter refuses to wear foundation….I guess it must be the trend now!
The Trish McEvoy corrector is so good. Thank you for that Marnie. I am 61 and I wish this info would have existed in one place 15 years ago, all good tips. I like to use Estee Lauders Little Black Primer so I can just use that for no-makeup days alone and it's perfect or under mascara on other days. 🌞
I'm 66 and have very dry eyes, so need to use drops frequently throughout the day, so I've ditched the mascara, which has been tough. I've been using kajal to give my eyes definition instead, along with my eyelash curler. Tomorrow I'm going to buy a waterproof mascara, ditch the kajal and see what happens!
Wonderful video, Marnie! I've been subscribed for years. I am a makeup wearer, but this is a great help for those of us needing to make adjustments to our skincare and makeup routines as we "mature". (I turned 50 this year.)
eyeliner is the only product I've warn in 35+ years. I did a photo shoot last year with a makeup artist and it looked horrible, lol. I am going to try your tips as I am getting older. Thank you for all the information and the insight.
Loved this video! How do you keep your makeup and especially your brushes organized? Would love a video on makeup storage and brush organization? For example, I noticed you used a brush to work in your foundation (or tinted moisturizer). Do you store those brushes separately than the ones you use for powdered or solid blushes and eyeshadows?
The makeup you had on at the beginning of the video looked much better than the L’Oréal. Your skin was much smoother looking, it was flawless! Loved all the makeup tips😊thanks
Well of course my skin looked better-I was wearing a medium foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer, and highlighter instead of just a tinted moisturizer.
Great tips! Now that I am in my 40s I have notice that I need to make a change to my skin care routine. As a teen I was blessed with good skin rarely having an acne. Not so blessed in my 40s! Ha ha! I have also started applying concealer before foundation and it makes a huge difference.
Very helpful video 😍 I will turn 44 this year and struggle with changing up the things I did „forever“ So thank you very much for the product recommendation 👍🏻
Thank u Marnie great video today as always .I’m a woman in my late 60s when I go out I do most but have to admit I don’t do mascara . When I get really dressed up I do use it . After seeing this today I should try and curl them what a difference.👍
Well I did my lashes not with mascara but with curler. Saw my sister ( who doesn’t wear makeup) n she said to me u even do your lashes to go food shopping lol I told her what I did n she said well it worked . Thank you Marnie it’s definitely better then nothing on them at all.
Love the video as always. I do respectfully disagree with the eyeliners statement. I remember you collab wit lisalidad1, switching looks. You’re eyes looked So stunning in that video! A little loner Can add alot of definition and make you look more awake and draw attention to the eyes in a Good way!!
I really appreciate these tips Marnie. I turned 41 this year and last year started embracing "less is more." I dumped my heavy full coverage foundation for a tinted moisturizer. Ditched the bottom lash mascara and started doing something with my brows. I have natural strawberry blonde hair, and use that NYX brow gel in blonde. It cuts the "red" tones down in most typcial auburn brow pencils. That's my little secret. I have also been using Curology for almost 3 years now and I have noticed a big difference in my skin's texture and appearance.
I love love love the natural look you put together. Working from home I tend to get lazy about makeup, but you just motivated me. What do you think of the Ilmakiage brand of foundation that’s all over social media? I’ve been tempted to try it.
Love your channel Marnie! Just started following you, and I'm thoroughly enjoying watching and learning from you. Do you have a video on your favorite makeup brushes? I'm particularly looking for a new foundation brush, but would prefer not to pay high end prices. Thanks so much.
I have tried the eyeliner route--just always seemed to harsh. I use a smudge pencil that I can control better. I have similar hair, skin, and eye color as you. (I'm 63.) But I have used brown eye shadow for decades...I have tried grays, just doesn't look right. Thanks for the tips.
Great informative video. I totally agree with these tips you have provided here. I myself am 50 and I can also say that my skin is much drier now than it was in my 40s. I think I need to try the L’Oréal age perfect line on. I have always been an eyeliner type of woman but lately I notice I look better with just two or three coats of waterproof mascara. I love the L’Oréal air volume waterproof as I tend to sweat a lot lately (yuck)😏🥺. Isn’t it fun getting older?! Have a great day.😊
All good tips - although I do tightline my upper lash line. Another thing I see older women doing is wearing a lipstick that is too pale - it is so aging and dated, and eyebrows that are too dark.
Great tips! Will start curling my lashes. Had a bad experience with having it grab skin and I didn’t realize and squeezed. Will be careful and try again. Do you recommend skipping eyeliner on the top as well?
Go get some crystal vitamin C, dilute it in water in a spray bottle until when you spray it on your skin it doesn't sting. Put it on your face and arms if you have age spots and wait about 3 days to see a big improvement. Also don't put oils around your eyes. I think oils create a bagginess around eyes, not just in the under and over eye area, but the area right at the eyes which can loosen the seal around your eyes and you will need surgery.
The people in these comments are my people! Just remember that even though we tackle more skin and makeup concerns, we a so much smarter than our younger selves!🎉🎉🎉💕
Amen to that!!

So true. Too bad there’s no turning back time to fix what went wrong. I’ve got a laundry list of do overs if I could.
Not really😂

Great points-none of my tips/suggestions are absolutes. You have to adapt for what you think will look best on your face!

Great tips. My number 1 tip would be to remove the peach fuzz. The best makeup application would be minimized by distracting hair poking off the face and neck!!

I like using shadow as my eyeliner - heavier on top and light on the lower lash line.
You shouldn’t use retinol during the day - or any actives.
I’ve watched your videos forever and I’m finally going to curl my lashes and fill in my brows. You’ve convinced me! Lol- thank you! Great video😌

I have to say that I neglected touching my brows until lately….now I just dye them! You definitely lose your features if you don’t treat your brows and lashes a bit! Also, my 15 year old daughter refuses to wear foundation….I guess it must be the trend now!
Wonderful tips and thank you for the more reasonable priced alternatives too
I love LOreal products
The Trish McEvoy corrector is so good. Thank you for that Marnie. I am 61 and I wish this info would have existed in one place 15 years ago, all good tips. I like to use Estee Lauders Little Black Primer so I can just use that for no-makeup days alone and it's perfect or under mascara on other days. 🌞
That blue color looks fabulous on you !
I found this very informative, great tips and products recommendations. Going to look into starting evening retinoid with Neutrogena.
Thank you for this! I struggle with getting the right color for foundation etc. any recommendations on that?
Wonderful video, Marnie! I've been subscribed for years. I am a makeup wearer, but this is a great help for those of us needing to make adjustments to our skincare and makeup routines as we "mature". (I turned 50 this year.)
Glad it was helpful! Happy belated birthday!
eyeliner is the only product I've warn in 35+ years.
Everything goes in the same container. I use an office supply pen holder that rotates. Nothing too fancy!
I have sparse, straight eyelashes, so I find eyelash primer is a must .
The makeup you had on at the beginning of the video looked much better than the L’Oréal. Your skin was much smoother looking, it was flawless! Loved all the makeup tips😊thanks
Sorry it was the Laura Mercier
Well of course my skin looked better-I was wearing a medium foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer, and highlighter instead of just a tinted moisturizer.
I always learn something new from your videos. Today’s was not bringing the blush all the way up. Eep! Trying it your way today!!!
Great tips! Now that I am in my 40s I have notice that I need to make a change to my skin care routine. As a teen I was blessed with good skin rarely having an acne. Not so blessed in my 40s! Ha ha! I have also started applying concealer before foundation and it makes a huge difference.
Hands-down great video. I'd add an 11th tip-dermaplaning (at home or at spa). Those hairs we get as we age are horrific.
Loved this video! Am anxious to try some of your suggestions. I’m all about the minimalist look. By the way- your skin was glowing!!
Yay! Thank you!
I’m 48 and haven’t worn eye liner in a few years since I have a harder time seeing 😂 Cheaters are my friend. Thank you for all the tips.
I’m 68 and I’ve completely stopped wearing black eyeliner. I use a dark shadow now to line my eyes.
This was a great video. You are spot on! Thanks Marnie!
Beautiful which brush did you use with the tnted moisturizer?
Very helpful video 😍 I will turn 44 this year and struggle with changing up the things I did „forever“
So thank you very much for the product recommendation 👍🏻
You got this!
So true I’m not the same…got to change it up!
Thanks for the tips! They really helped!!!
Thank you Marnie, I totally agree with you. By the way the color of your earrings: gold or vintage gold? Thanks
Thank u Marnie great video today as always .I’m a woman in my late 60s when I go out I do most but have to admit I don’t do mascara . When I get really dressed up I do use it . After seeing this today I should try and curl them what a difference.👍
Let me know how it works out!
@@MsGoldgirl Will definitely let u know
Well I did my lashes not with mascara but with curler.
Sometimes more is still fun and wearable! I use the NYX brow gel for the same exact reason!! It's a miracle!
thanks for vid pretty lady. great tip. please keep them coming. be safe
Thank you for your tips beauty ❤
I love love love the natural look you put together. Working from home I tend to get lazy about makeup, but you just motivated me. What do you think of the Ilmakiage brand of foundation that’s all over social media? I’ve been tempted to try it.
I know a few influencers that love the line-but the brand's sales tactics annoy me. ;)
Such a great video Marnie! So helpful. I’m turning 40 next year!
You're still young!! But the 40's are the best-you have a lot to look forward to!
Thanks for the great tips! You didn’t showcase eyelid base/primer or eyeshadow. Can you please share what you use for eyeshadow primer? Thanks !
I just use moisturizer-no primer.
Thanks for sharing!!
Love this and all your videos, Marni. 😊 I have learned a lot from you...Thank you!!
Maelove has very good dupes for the skinceuticals products. Very affordable - sold only online. Formulated by MIT grads.
Blush and mascara are my deserted islands items.
Thank you for the tips. Most you use are great products for us mature woman😃
Have a great day.😊
I switched to waterproof mascara too! I am a head sweater. So gross 😝 !
Great video Marnie. Loved the tips.
All good tips - although I do tightline my upper lash line. Another thing I see older women doing is wearing a lipstick that is too pale - it is so aging and dated, and eyebrows that are too dark.
Very helpful video!!!! Thank you!!!! 💗💗💗
Great video...thanks!
And just when you thought you'd covered it all...may I ask where you bought the hair clips?
Those were sent in PR but I’ve seen similar on Amazon and Ulta.
@@MsGoldgirl Thanks for taking the time to answer! I appreciate it...now, on to the hunt...
Well done! Great tips and helpful ideas!
Your “fresh face” is beautiful! Seriously!!
Needed this! Thank you ❤
Great video. I am a pro makeup artist and I 100% agree
You have flawless skin
One of the best videos!!!
I'm really proud of this one!
What foundation brush did you use love the video and tips
Lip tip: use your liner after you put on your lipstick. Trust me.💕
Great stuff, Marnie!
Does it stay on longer? I've tried and seems to not "take".
Yes! Thank you! I do that sometimes if I just want a little definition, but I find that it slides off faster.
I find it stays on well, but I tend to colour in the lines a bit, too.
Great tips! Will start curling my lashes. Had a bad experience with having it grab skin and I didn’t realize and squeezed. Will be careful and try again. Do you recommend skipping eyeliner on the top as well?
I do recommend skipping it all together.
Very interesting.
Oh my gosh, those big PINK shoes cracked me up. The 1st thought that came to me was......
"FEMALE BOZO SHOES" 🤣🤣🤣
Well said. A good dupe to the Skinceuticals ce ferulic is Drmtlgy ce ferulic at 1/3 the cost
