  • Hey ladies and gents, thanks for tuning in to our latest walk around video! In this video we will be discussing our Stage 3 setup on this 2018 Tundra. We will also be talking about the new 50Ten camper. We have done a lot of first for this build. From the new Method 704 Trail Series wheels with their patented Bead Grip technology. The new Yokohama Geolander MT tires. The first supercharged long travel 50Ten setup. Some new 3.0 King tripple bypas shocks designed for the Tundra. And a couple more odds and ends. Sit back, and relax, this is going to be a good one!

    I think the most underrated overland mod is front bench seat conversion to a futon like they make for a lot of vans and rv’s. I doubt it would be that hard to make it fit nicely with some modified rear seat. I’m gonna take a crack at it in my truck with the van futons available/ modifying the rear and foot well for extra bed surface area and comfort

    What a beautiful build, great work. This strikes a balance between off-road ability, size, comfort and importantly weight. There's always sacrifices to be made and there's no one perfect setup. Slide in campers are too heavy, mounted by simple turn-buckles and just aren't built for off-road abuse. Some of the other cabover wedge campers are nice but don't offer the same spaciousness as a tray unit. I think something like this is a perfect for days to weeks in the backcountry. I probably wouldn't want to live in it full time though, for that I think a van would be a better choice.

    That is an amazing rig, job well done. Nice lighting setup as well. The front racing fenders look awesome. Maybe it is the lighting or camera angles, but the fitment is off, they don't seem to line with the bumper, something looks off level, plus the grill doesn't seem to line up well with the front fenders either, almost like the grille or the fenders were out of alignment. The is not a consistent gap where they meet the doors either. Otherwise love the bumper, winch, lighting package and the entire setup. I hope it has served you well. Subscribed!

    • @act2.533

      @@TAVLLC Yeah, I checked the website. Still steep, regular flatbeds from CM, Moritz, etc. are under $4k for aluminum 8' dually beds with 40k lbs goose hitches. Tack "overland" on something and the price goes a little crazy..

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  4 года назад +2

      act 2.5 why are you comparing an 8’ dually flat bed to an entire camper system that has to be imported from Germany? I also didn’t see “overland” tacked onto anything. This is simply another great option that is available and yes it is built similar to the A/T campers that we have been using for years. If this thing was junk you wouldn’t see it on one of these trucks.

    • @act2.533
      @act2.533 4 года назад +2

      @@TAVLLC I'm comparing flatbed prices, The 50ten tray for "full size" is $13,990. That's 5.25'x5.9'. An 8'x8' aluminum flatbed from Moritz is $3,150 and can haul a 40,000 lb gooseneck trailer. Even at $150 an hour shop rate, the 50ten bed wouldn't hit $5,000. That's where I came up with $25k for the whole setup. $18k normal price, plus $7k because it's meant for overlanders.
      I'm not saying it isn't a quality piece of gear, just that they are a bit steep on their price, just like everything meant for the "overland" crowd.
      Total Chaos, Marlin, Teraflex, Dynatrac, Currie, Atlas, Metalcloak, JCR, all have normal prices. Prices you can justify from an engineering/marketing standpoint.

    • @Redacted_Actual_
      @Redacted_Actual_ 4 года назад

      @@act2.533 I think you are maybe missing the point or purpose to this flatbed. It is not a typical, universal flat bed like the ones from CM or Moritz, that are designed to be used as work horses or pull goose necks. The 50Ten is more of a dual purpose set up. It has all of the functionality of being able to use the camper as intended, but with the ability to easily remove it and us the flat bed for other purposes, of which you cant do with other campers that fit over a stock bed. It also houses the spare tire and has the extra storage. Plus, after using it as a flat bed, you lower the camper with its 4 pegs into the 4 peg holes in the flat bed and secure it quick and easily with its fastening devices. You cant do this with just a typical flat bed. The 50ten is basically providing the best of both worlds, which yes, could come at a little more cost. But dual purpose things are often that way. Its also incorporates Goose Gear plates designed for the 50Ten. Its very much apples to oranges in this case.
