- How Strong Would Gokhan Be? The Buu saga in Dragon Ball Z was quite hectic due to it introducing several transformations and fusions alike. The potara earrings served as a way for Goku & Vegeta to defeat the seemingly all-powerful Buuhan, by becoming the mighty Vegito. However, what if Gohan had fused with Goku instead? How strong would Gokhan be? Would he have been more powerful than Vegito, or actually a lot weaker?

It could be argued as Whis explained that Goku and Vegeta have polar opposite issues with their fighting style, that their fusion balanced each other out perfectly. Goku is too relaxed while Vegeta tends to be too tense. That would explain why Vegito was stronger than expected.
People always forget that the personalities play a huge part with fusions
Personality wise, Vegito wins.
Power wise, Gokhan wins.
Gokhan will probably be the most cocky fellow in DBZ based on their personality but their power will be insane. One hand is enough to handle Buuhan's power level.

Yeah, it's a tough call on just how big the rival boost is. Honestly there is a good chance Gokhan might have been stronger back then since Gohan would on paper be able to one shot SSJ2 Vegeta, but now in Super where Vegeta is relevant again and comparable to Goku, both of which surpass Gohan, Vegito is and would be superior for sure.

Ultimate Gokan would be insanely powerful. It's supposed to draw out all your hidden potential and give you the multiplier of all the transformations you have. At least 400× for ssj3. But possibly more considering stacking kioken is something he had the potential to do.

By far the Gokhan fusion. As evidence remember when Vegeto fought fused Zemasu he beat Zemasu to the point where his mortal half began to decay. Fused Zemasu was half Immortal because Immortal Zemasu fused with the mortal Goku Black. Here is where Gokhan holds the advantage over Vegeto. Gohan had his potential unlocked by elder kai Goku did not. So if the two were to fuse Gokhan would be born with access to 50% of his maximum potential in his normal state. So in other words Goku times Gohan + 50% of Gokhan's maximum potential.

Here's another solid bit of proof that the rival boost isn't insane enough to automatically nullify Gokhan - Aren't Trunks and Goten rivals? They are friendlier than Goku and Vegeta with each other sure, but even then it's arguably under normal circumstances, because they constantly bicker not only about who's dad is stronger, but they bicker with each other about their own strengths too and constantly compete in things, and Trunks even cheats lol. We all remember their Tournament battle, it's one of the best battles in the series not necessarily for epicness, but progression and choreography and the audience reaction and the music, the part where they are clashing in the middle of the arena while levitating upwards and everyone is silently gawking (a chick even drops her ice cream on another guy's head lol) so on and so forth - even showing that Goku and Vegeta compete in regards to who's kid is stronger, like when both first found out their kid can go SSJ and Vegeta yelling that it wasn't fair lol - man they even had Chichi and Bulma going crazy. They definitely get a so-called "rival boost" and Gohan by himself was still stronger than their SSJ3 fusion. Yes they were dumb, cuz they're kids, and didn't use the power right and had no combat experience etc. etc. - but we are talking about power here, not combat skill or how said power is utilized.
Even if a rival boost is a thing, no questions asked - I doubt it's enough to close the power gap Gohan would have brought to the table. And if the fusion had Goku as the dominant personality, it would equalize Gohan's reserved nature but would likely also quell Goku's own brand of derpiness, hopefully resulting in a more balanced and insanely powerful personality.
Also, Modern Gohan showed a hint of rivalry with Goku before the ToP when he wanted to be more serious about fighting, so I have a feeling his reserved nature is equalizing by itself, finally. I wonder if something will happen considering Gohan's new Beast form as well (lots of fanservice in that movie for Gohan, so I wouldn't be surprised if Gohan will "catch the earring" next time).

I like to imagine that Gokhan would still have Gohan's theatrical moments.
I also think that the idea of Potara fusion changed dramatically between the chapter it was introduced (Kibito Kai's fusion) and when Vegito appears. Kibito Kai is used to demonstrate to us, the reader, how different it is from Metamoran Fusion; the biggest difference is that the personalities do not necessarily merge and more so that one assimilates the other. We can also see this with Elder Kai himself, who claims he fused with a Witch.
This is also, I think, why we had the explanation of a 'rival boost'; to explain why Vegeto isn't fused the same way, or rather, to present possibilities to write out of the corner for a new idea.
It could be that in those two cases, the more powerful character retains more control but interestingly, Vegito‘s voice was supposed to be a singular voice, not a combination of the two. I believe this is an English dub exclusive.
i think that Gokhan would be stronger than Vegito due to the relationship that Goku and Gohan have (father and son) far exceed the relationship that Goku and Vegeta have (rivals). Also, due to Gohan's immense power, Gohkan would be much stronger than Vegito.

Vegito is the perfect fighter. Unlike what might have happened with Gohan, Vegeta's weakness of being too serious all of the time and tense, mixed with goku's carefree sillyness, created a warrior that had practically NO weaknesses. (And before anyone says arrogance is his weakness he was trying to get absorbed by Buu to free the others). Also this is Gohan who still hasn't trained much, so his skills are a bit worse than Vegeta's. I feel like Vegito can easily be said to be on par with Gokhan if not stronger, not just in raw power, but fighting ability as well.

Vegeta, while at the time is weaker than Gohan, has a skill set and personality unique to himself. With that being said, due to his differences with Goku he has a wider perspective than Gohan. While Gohan and Goku are similar nothing new is really added to the character Gokhan besides an increase in power. Vegito on the other hand has a better understanding of his strengths and weaknesses due to Gokus and Vegetas rivalry, as a result creating a better more experienced fighter.

If I had a power level of 5 and you a 6, the Patara Fusion power would be at 11. The Fusion dance power would have you power down to a 5 to match mine. So it would be a 10. So technically Vegito beat Gogeta.

Another thing to consider is transformations. Gokhann's potential I feel would have been much bigger than Vegetto's, meaning if the fusion used the ultimate transformation, then their strength would have been increased to astronomical levels.
I think Gokhan could be a really interesting addition to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 whenever that game eventually gets made. Like, maybe as a special parallel quest like with that evil yamcha one, just an interesting "what if gohan caught the potara?" type of thing. Xenoverse would totally be the perfect game for something like that

TBF Goku is a hell of a lot more powerful than Sharpener, that throw would've been impossible for anyone on Namek to catch.
The fusion of Goku and Gohan should be called either:
- Gohan (that is "Go" from Goku and "han" from Gohan)
or
- Goku (that is "Go" from Gohan and "ku" from Goku)

I'm pretty sure the rival boost is not an actual boost in the power. He said better compatability. The kai spoke about their rivalry because as rivals they would have a great understanding of each other. I assume he meant successful fusion. Since I wouldnt call the kai and the witch s very successful fusion.
Gokhan should be strongest due to the power bonus of Gohan and the potala concept, but argue against an official guide may not be the better decision.

Because what the creator wants isn't arbitrary and is based, at least in part, on the qualitative components of the characters as they are established in the story. Therefore speculating upon this kind of this is completely valid because probabilistic conclusions can be reached.

Potara literally slaps the power together so you have "Mystic" Gohan with a SS3 Goku plus the potara fusion boost. Vegito would get wrecked.

Personally. Gohans power gap between him and vegeta shoulda overpowered the rival boost, imo. At this point they were on two different tiers of fighters
Fusion is probably more about resonance then rivalry. Each fusion declared itself the strongest because the parties were either rivals, co-conspirators, or even friends. So the more you have something in common with the other party the stronger the fusion.
The gap between goku and vegeta was very large that vegeta thought turning majin would close the gap and it still didn’t

Goku said a stronger fighter than him would fight fat buu and this is when he didn’t even know gotenks was gonna go ssj3, so story wise gotenks going ssj should be stronger than goku ssj3

Just my wild guess/headcanon but I think they'd be relative. I dont exactly see Goku & Vegeta knowing outright what their multiplied power would even be like. But if the rival boost did play a role in Vegito's surprising strength, you could argue Gohan's vastly superior power to Vegeta would make up the difference.
Based on Toriyama's statement, maybe there are other compatibility boosts? Like if Goku and Gohan were to fuse, they wouldn't get a rival boost but a father-son or family boost. That's just my interpretation of his statement though.

Gokhan really would be really great to have his strength be really surprising to see. Also them arguments against Super Buu and Kid Buu is hard to figure out
Some ppl still think that Vegito is stronger than Gokhan because of the Rivalry Boost.
I believe that Buuhan is the most powerful version but kid Buu is the most chaotic and unpredictable which made him more dangerous...SS3 Goku could barely fight Super Buu but was on par with Kid Buu until his power ran out

Simply put, Toriyama knew this fusion would absolutely decimate Buu much more than Vegito did (rival boost or not IMO) and because he didn’t want to just end the story right there like that, he decided to just tease the fusion rather than just letting it happen.
