    when the puppy is peeing or pooping say repeatedly "Take a Break" or "Go Poopy" and they learn to be reminded... handy when travelling and making pit stops...

    I have a 15 wee old great dane and he pees every 15 minutes it seems. He pees while I'm cleaning up pee. We take him out almost every 30 minutes and he still has accidents. We had him check for a UTI and they said he was completely healthy. Any suggestions?

    So for the first two weeks this worked excellent. We had little to no accidents. The last few days have been very rough. Our dog Paully will go outside each hour. Then he will come in 15 minutes later he goes number 2.

    I got my gal when she was 5 months old and the breeder had done nothing at all she never even had a collar on her I am struggling with this I do work long hours so I have set up Piddle pads in front of the door and most of the time she does great then out of the blue she will pee on one of my rugs or poop on the floor instead of on her pads suggestions?

    I have been taking them out every hour and when they eat and then after but they pee as soon as we take them back inside. They got out in the same spot and then I have been sitting outside for 20 30 mins waiting for them to go but then as soon as we get inside they go.

    We have a almost 10 week old great Dane pup and she has little to no accidents we praise her when she goes outside if she does pee inside (only accidents are pee accidents) we say no (not mean like just a simple no) if we catch her in the act and bring her right outside so she can finish and clean the mess up with dawn dish soap it's working really well

    I’ve learned this with all my dogs. The Dane will be my last dog to own. I have definitely felt the guilt of a dog doing their business indoors because I didn’t go on that walk when we should have.

    Can I leave he’s water bowl all day for him to drink anytime he wants or should it be schedule Same as the food. I usually leave the water and remove it 2 hours before bedtime.

    • @kiwitheparrotlet
      @kiwitheparrotlet 3 года назад

      I would say leave it down all day and just take him out more... I mean we don’t schedule when we drink water, we just get a drink when we are thirsty. Same thing

      @@kiwitheparrotlet most don't schedule when they eat either. We eat when we're hungry. Logic is invalid.

    but mine doesnt only go after drinking or eating ,even if he hasnt ate he will be having accidents, .. also, should i let him be free in the house while potty training or should he stay in the crate at all times and only take him out for potty breaks?

    • @kiwitheparrotlet
      @kiwitheparrotlet 3 года назад +2

      I think you should lay pee pads down around the house and pee pad train him as well as outside training. Or just take him out like they are saying, and eventually he won’t have accidents... but don’t leave him in the crate all day bc he has accidents, that’s not right

    • @mjisurdad
      @mjisurdad 3 года назад +2

      @@kiwitheparrotlet i don't like puppy pads. Maybe if you can't routinely take them out, or if you work and Noone else can take them out. i would focus on outside. I've seen dogs use pads and then think it's ok to pee on carpets.

    Question: when you take them every hour on the hour. Are you hoping /working for them to go every hour ? Or just giving them ample opportunity to go if they need to?
    Also, when do you stop doing the every hour on the hour ? I know you always take them when they wake up, but will they learn to alert you when they need to go.

      With my puppies, I add an hour as the puppy grows, around an hour every 2-3 months. So if I start with an 8 week old, they graduate to 2 hours at 4 months, 3 hours at 6 months, etc. Some pups can go faster than this and some take longer, this is just a loose guideline. if you find they start to mess up, go back an hour. When I take them out, I give a cue for them to go to speed things up. If you say "potty potty" or whatever cue you want to use EVERY TIME they go, you won't have to wait so long for them to decide to go because they'll know what you want. If it takes more than 10 minutes, they probably don't need to go and can go back in with VERY CLOSE monitoring. This is when you know you can start increasing their time, when they don't want to go every single hour. I hope this helps!
