    one of our family friends met him, and he brought his 5 year old kid to meet him as well. And his son asked Federer, "are you better than my dad?" and Federer replied, "no one is better than your dad!". Just goes to show how great of a guy Federer actually is!

    Federer's forehand is one of the only forehands that acts like a whip. His forehand snaps at the end of every forehand shot like a whip that cracks when you snap it. It's very effortless and VERY effective. His forehand generates much more topspin that a lot of other players on the tour.

    Thanks for the message, Fuzzy!! Great video in HD!! NIce job of recording the King practicing. I have had the opportunity to watch Roger live on practice courts and it was amazing to see him up close. TV does not do his great forehand justice!! The amount of spin on his shots is incredible to see live and up close!!

    The thing about Roger Federer is that you just cannot imagine to see a more brilliant technically gifted player. The execution of every shot is so brilliant, precise and made look effortless thats is unbelievable. Djokovic is a mental giant. Nadal is a physically ridicolous player.

    not a stupid question at all! federer's forehand is really tough to pin down because he has elements of a classic and modern / windshield wiper forehand. he hits most of his forehands with a windshield wiper but he hits classic forehands as well. his forehand is different from most of the other players on tour because it's so varied.

    to all the people out there: i would love to see roger win 2 more slams. i would love to see him win 30 more. and i wouldnt be bored watching. I lived at a time where I was able to watch his dominant streak from 2005-2007 (and a bit of 2008). But it just isnt possible for somebody to be on top for THAT long. he had a hell of a run guys, but he doesnt have more than a couple slams left in him. :( and so it will be that the greatest tennis player of all time will be remembered in the history books

    Yes! Because the brilliance of Federer's Game is not only in the arm.. Look how he moves around the court.. how he also uses his left arm in the forehand, how he does shoulder turn and many many things more that maybe one can do it but one thing by hit, he does it all at the same time, everytime and with wordclass.

    Great stuff! I look forward to seeing them!
    Not sure how many other fans are technique obsessed like me but the slow motion forehands are especially appreciated, not to mention the steady camera work!
    Also, there are few videos on youtube watching him practise from behind so it is refreshing to see casual hitting from this angle.
    How shall I look out for the upcoming vids (and for the benefit of everyone else)?

    Great. Like many tennis players, we use FYB and other net videos to reinforce lessons and look for some of the newer techniques. Slow motion just brings into perfect clarity the stages a championship stroke goes through and the muscle memory that has to be built. Tx.

    We're already on it DMC. However, we are first going to get longer footage like this up of all the pros we filmed at the tournament. You should start to see shorter sections in the next two weeks. Also, later today we will begin uploading slow motion video of the pros, shot at 200+ FPS.

  • @fuzzyyellowballs
    @fuzzyyellowballs  16 лет назад

    I also want to add that the video may look choppier than it really is because we set the shutter speed very high for this video. The shutter is set to 1/1000 of a second so that we can freeze the action in other videos we will make with this footage. Because of that, you won't see any motion blur in this footage, and it may seem choppier as a result.

    For some people, the HD video is choppy. It's just the nature of the beast... Playing back HD video requires a fast connection and a fast computer. For me, and from other comments on this video, the video is playing silky smooth.

    That's close. Federer is in between an eastern and a semi-western. Some have called his grip a "modified eastern." Heel pad on bevel 3 and index knuckle on the edge between bevel 3 and 4. Nadal is basically a western. Heel pad and index knuckle on bevel 4 1/2 (edge between bevel 4 and 5).

    i thought that last year but he is still clearly motivated and knows what he wants to achieve out of his career.he is obviously trying to live up to peoples expectations of him and playing for the glory rather then the love,but it will be interesting to see how becoming a father will effect his tennis.most peoples priorities change,anyway we will have to wait and see

    Really great compilation, but there is one mistake which I think most of us agree with. Its at the end where the text says; " To learn how to play like Roger, visit... "
    Its just not possible to learn to play like him since he is one of a kind;)

    I get what your saying.
    Obviously in match play he plays different (in the video he played pretty well)
    But through out what he does, he maintains form. Shoulder turn, knee bend and what not. He might slack on the footwork, but I'm sure he hadn't hit before this, he probably just hits the ball like 500 times to feel the ball out and time his shots.
    You see college players and some juniors that seem to be messing around, its really to get there timing and heart going. Hope this helps.

    One think I learned from his play is that to turn my shoulder early for good preparation, and in order to do it, I need to develop good judgement on how fast the ball is coming, which direction it's coming from, and where I should stand in order to give myself enough time interval to swing my racquet to meet the ball. That needs practice, practice and more practice. hehe.

    depends on your perspective...that's your opinion. pete sampras strung his beyond max at around 65 which was something that helped him with his great volleys, but was also really impressive how hard he hit with that tiny 85" frame at that tension on groundstrokes. i string mine at 62 always, so yes in my mind 57 is low.

    he strung at 57 for a while, which in my view is a very low tension that allows him to hit the ball harder. it's still an impressive feat because he has to put enough top on it with racquet speed to make up for the lost control at that tension.

  • @airjkd79
    @airjkd79 15 лет назад

    He has like the most fluid motion for every shot and he hits the ball so cleanly no wonder he hardly ever gets injured. Does anyone think he'll be able to win 20 slams before he retires? I think he definitely can but its going to get more difficulty as time goes by because of guys like Del Potro coming through. He's got at least 2 good years left if he wants to finish and leave on top.

    yes, it was. you can see what happened; after the serve, there was a crosscourt backhand exchange; fed then went DTL and his opponent went for an aggressive cross court. fed anticipated the shot and got there before his opponent expected him to; fed hit DTL before his opponent could cover the open court.

    Unfortunately, we can't sell the footage we captured at Indian Wells. Part of our agreement with the tournament was that in exchange for being allowed to officially videotape parts of the tournament, we were not allowed to sell any of the material or run ads against it. Basically, we can't profit from any of this footage. Maybe I can look into ways to make the original .wmv files available for download somewhere.
