    Safin: No. He was all power.
    Nalbandian: Fair pick.
    Kyrgios: Treating your whole career as an exhibition match that you don’t want to be in, and then having the internet treat your highlights reel as evidence of what every shot would have been like if you could be bothered, isn’t ’talent.’ All others on this list have been no.1s; except Nalbandian who hit 3. Kyrgios never troubled the top 10.
    Rios: Silky, but I think there’s a degree of racism here: seeing him as some swarthy, moody, latin-blooded Zorro type.
    Federer: Probably correct.
    Sampras should have made the cut. He’s the only guy with the all-round chops to stand with Federer. And John Isner, obviously.

    “Talent” isn’t the right word. If you wanted to say “entertaining” or “effortless” then go ahead (and add Fognini) but “talented?” What constitutes talent? Isn’t redirecting 140 mph serves a talent? Some of these guys are not good returners and someone like Djokovic or Nadal should be higher in that case. Isn’t shot placement a talent?

    Nalbandian could have won 8 slams if he had the want, fitness, and discipline of the top guys. Maybe the cleanest ball striker of the bunch. So talented but you know what they “hard work beats talent if talent doesn’t work hard”

    I kinda object to putting players on here who can't finish points. Nalbandian and Rios look cool, but that's because they're playing longer points than necessary from offensive positions, because their smashes and approaches aren't good enough. Players like Nick Kyrgios are way, way more talented.

      think big three. I once went through every time he lost at a slam. He never once lost to a player lower ranked, and usually to the one who won the slam. That's not bad. The years he played were littered with brilliant players who never won a big title.

    • @matthewburgar2626
      @matthewburgar2626 Месяц назад

      @ Not entirely true. He lost once to Raonic at Wimbledon in 2014 (though he beat him the next year.) He also lost to Gasquet that year. He lost to Seppi in the Australian Open. He’s lost many times to players who aren’t some of the best in the World in big tournaments like grand slams and Masters 1000’s.

    • @sportslover2356
      @sportslover2356 Месяц назад

      @@matthewburgar2626 pretty sure raonic was higher ranked that year. He could hardly walk. Gasquet was higher ranked at the time. Not sure about seppi. Was a five setter. He's often gone out to Nadal, meddy, roger, nole, Andy. Nothing to be ashamed of. He's just had the Oz media demanding he win a slam or be damned.

    Number 2: Gustavo Kuerten in my opinion. Forgotten for having a short career. He was number 1 in the world and was a complete player. Lots of aces, great accuracy (balls close to the lines), good alternation between spin and speed, one of the best backhands, excellent accuracy on short balls and net shots, great defense...

    Putting Kyrgios here is a joke. Dude has zero big titles, never even reached the top 10. He hits the ball hard. That is literally his entire game. He's not well rounded, he's not an excellent shot maker, he has low tennis iq, he has abysmal consistency, and possibly the weakest mental game of all time. The only top 5 he belongs in is largest fines accrued.
