@Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West but it's intended to be that way. The album is supposed to strip you of any sense of comfort, it aligns directly with its themes.
ST anger really has a lot of bangers that are hidden by blind hate that pople have while riding th band wagon Edit* by bangers I mean songs that could actually be really good if just remastered
*hears the words St. Anger, automatically remembers how it was popular opinion to hate on it, and does also, to fit in* Fucking dummies. People suck at forming their own opinions. This album rocks, I don't give a shit what others say.
This may be the case for some, but there is a reason this album became "hated" in the first place. There are a few decent Metallica songs on it, but 4 or 5 of the 10 worst Metallica songs appear on St. Anger imo. Not to mention the recording quality was abandoned purposely in attempt to sound live. Regardless, even the "worst" Metallica albums were still better than the other music that was released at the time.
I thought this album was fucking dark and evil when it came out. I ain't never heard anything like it. Fast forward 16 years, I still think this is fucking heavy unlike anything else. While my fave album by them is Ride the Lightning, St. anger is just a totally different entity, but Metallica at its core nonetheless. You can sense all the turmoil, anger, hopelessness they were going through at this period of time on a very personal level.
@@pheffrey9446 no not really, he took the chains off the snare so it had much less punch, kinda ends up sounding like another Tom More than a snare, never bothered me though, I liked this album.

One thing that I see people hate is Lars snare on the album, and I can see why. I mean, it sounds like a 4th tom drum, and it shouldn’t. I agree, st. Angers snare problem is prevalent in all of its songs, even the original version of all within my hands, which I don’t like very much. But other then the overwhelming snare problem, the album itself has some really good songs on it, some that I don’t mind listening to, dirty window, st. Anger, the title track, and even the acoustic version of AWMH, are all good songs in my opinion. There was a lot of creativity that went into them, and some people can’t see that because they’re too busy hating on it because it’s a “horrible” album, *cough* *cough* Stevie T *cough* cough* My point is, don’t judge something you haven’t heard yet, some people are just very quick to jump to judgment.

I think that this album has a Nu-metalish sound to it , it sorta followed trends in that genre at the time like no soloing, low tunings random noise/ effects thrown in ,more of just vibing on the guitar. It was maybe a little post- grunge thrown in it too. It also had a garage rock kinda vibe to the overall sound of the album. I think it's a good album overall. I do think too some of the lyrics needed re-working. I felt that Metallic feel pressure to stay relevant. I wish they would go back to there roots , where they cut there teeth in the thrash metal scene and embrace that time they had. Like we all want the real Metallica , just accept that and do it, stop trying impress the popular crowd. Metallic is basically just radio rock at this point. Just be Metal 🤘🏻🤘🏻.

I don't get all the hate for this song. Granted it's far from perfect and some of the lyrics are a little hokey, but I maintain it's a fun song with solid riffs and vocals.
All the elements of this could have been really cool, but every part kinda sounds like a different song. I heard the "infector protector rejector" part separately from the main riff the first time I was exposed to this and thought they were different songs entirely. Yeah, the riff is almost the exact same, but the rhythms don't go together at all.
This is just a live recording and it sounds 5000 times better than the studio version. They over-thought things in the studio rather than just letting the music flow. That's why with the exception of Garage Days Revisited this is the worst selling Metallica Album of all time.
Most of the songs from this album are incomprehensible from each other, you can barely tell them apart or if the songs are even close to finishing. Whether it's the thrash of Master Of Puppets/...And Justice or the moody groove of Load and Reload, the songs on those albums had clear, identifiable sections and memorable hooks. St. Anger has no structure at all, just one relentless sound.
@@nicholaschase768 I sometimes feel in the mood for 'Frantic' or 'The Unnamed Feeling', but the rest are just such straight-up bad songs that they don't even work for a aggressive metal mood for me. Metallica have faaaar better songs for that.
