Not sure if it was mentioned yet, but in TvC, Zero's fourth costume (black and purple) was a reference to the old Mega Armor model kit of Black Zero. For some reason, the kit has purple-blue accents and looked really cool! The green gem and yellow Z-tiddies are the biggest give-away. This was awesome!
@@TheSeventhForce No problem! I remember that one completely blowing me away when I first saw it. It's such an obscure reference to the Black Zero I knew growing up, ya know? Keep up the good work!
Man, I wish dark hold was kept as his level 3. Don’t know how much it’ll effect him but considering how strong he is in any fighting game, Probably not by a lot.
It'd be interesting, considering level 3s in TvC were subject to damage scaling but were always unscaled in MvC3. Dark Hold could've probably been even stronger in Marvel 3 with that in mind, but Genmu Zero does have a ton of utility that Dark Hold doesn't (full screen projectile, can snipe assist calls, etc.) so, I dunno. Dark Hold's still the cooler level 3 though, IMO.
@@TheSeventhForceHonestly, if they still wanted zero to have a full screen lv 3 projectile, they could have made him use dark hold immediately instead of having him hit confirm a slash first. It could work like how phoenix wright's lv 3 works in umvc3. It would be super busted but it's not like they're giving him something that makes him even more broken tbh. Alternatively, they could make Genmu Zero similar to Tekkaman Blade's lv 3 to where if you hit Genmu Zero close, you'll trigger the dark hold cutscene whereas if the opponent is out of range, Genmu Zero just works like it normally does.
Hilarious that Zero is stupidly broken in every game he’s been in. Jokes aside, your video on him and X are really good. I’m not particularly into fighting games, but I am a MegaMan fan, and these videos were great. 👍
Thanks for watching! Hopefully you'll be able to see my videos for other Megaman characters in the series when I get to them. One might be coming along sooner than you think!
I think one of the funniest things about Zero, and Mega Man as well really, they've never been playable at the same time in a fighting game, despite the fact its canon that Zero was created to defeat Mega Man.
Someone at Capcom must really love Zero because he feels like the most consistent top tier in any game he appears into, though I don't have much info on Tats VS Cap since I havent seen any tier list of that game.
He's top tier in TvC as well, along with Yatterman-1 and Tekkaman Blade. He's really good in Onimusha Blade Warriors and flat out busted in SvC Chaos, that last one being funny since SNK developed that.
I think Zero's alt 2 in MVCI might be a reference to Harpuia from the Zero games, looks even more like him thanks to the alt design looking the way it does. Neat video btw Also i can tell by your pfp that you have great taste, TWEWY and NEO TWEWY are peak

Yea, the MM Zero games have a combo system you can perform on bosses with each weapon, especially Zero 2 and Zero 3 when you get the right set of EX Skills on your. disposal. 😅
@@simonmejia6896the combo system you're talking about is in all Zero and ZX games with the exception of Zero 1 which uses the fairly abusable X series method of invincibility, so basically as long as you don't do charge attacks or finishers, you can keep hitting them and they won't be invincible. Zero 2 and onwards use the hit priority system which basically means that each attack has a coded value and as long as you attack with something higher than the previous attack, you'll bypass boss i-frames. How much you can do with this depends on the game, I know that you can do a lot in Z3 and ZX for instance but iirc the other games don't have as much to work with due to how they are coded. It's one of the things I love about the Zero/ZX games that sadly not a lot of people know about
Hey man, I just got suggested your page for some reason a few days ago. I LOVE IT!!! As a fighting game fan, it's been cool enjoying your fighter profiles. X and Zero are two of my favorite gaming characters of all time, so I really enjoyed your analysis. I was a little salty that X didn't have a real uppercut anti air in MVCI when he's had them in several crossovers (well, more the original Mega Man), but other than that, I was a fan of his playstyle. As for Zero, echoing what another poster said, his Dark Hold was Level 3 was epic. It would have fit in perfectly with the other cinematic supers in MvC3/UMvC3, so I was pissed that he didn't get to keep it. Other than that (and missing his blue costume from TvC), he's still one of my favorite characters outside of the DMC crew in UMvC3.
Awesome vid, even if I'm not into Mega Man, it kept me informed and interested! I do wanna mention that in UMVC3, returning endings from MVC3 seem to be abridged, as in they really simplified and cut a lot of text...no idea why, but MVC3 ending is my preference for some for that alone. Just thought you should know if you didn't notice already!
8:42 Zero, authority on how to become a top tier, gives his excellent advice on playing fighting games: being that playing top tiers instead of characters you like isn't as good.
I'm most likely preaching to the choir, but Zero is one of my favorite characters to play as in the VS series! He's fast, and has a lot of combo potential! I hope he ends up in MVC4!
Y'know it is really weird to me that none of Zero's alternate outfits in the Vs series have ever been straight-up Megaman Zero, it seems like such an easy bit of fan service. I also love that both Roll and Zero in TvC have bits of dialogue with Volnutt reminding them of their respective Megaman. The nonchalant "just another day at work" attitude towards Sentinel gets me every time, too xD Also, something I think they really nailed with both Zero and Dante is that it actually really feels like you're playing as them from their original games in a fight game context. I know "game feel" is a very nebulous thing, but I think they really knocked it out of the park
Your comment about the SNK vs Capcom fighting games being spinoffs threw me off a bit seeing as SNK vs Capcom MOTM for the NGPC came out a whole 8 months before Capcom vs SNK Millennium Fight . I would consider the Card Fighters Clash a sort of spin off, but that was released before the fighter on the NGPC too
Maybe spinoff wasn't the right word, but for the sake of organization as far as this video series is concerned, I'm counting the SNK produced crossovers as its own thing. I do plan on covering them at some point, though!
i kinda find it funny that in svc chaos zero was the sub-boss in that game so it kinda makes sense a snk boss character is busted. i guess he deserves to be part of the snk boss syndrome

Would you ever consider going back and talking about the SNK VS games? I'd like to see it, but I understand that there may not be a lot to talk about for some characters.

Capcom Vs tasanoku the game we only got in the states on the wee because of heavy fan potation other wise japan would of gotten it but the states and maybe Canada would of been screwed over denied this game possible for many years if we were lucky at best.
Interestingly, his Z Saber went from non existent in X1 to all but 1 attack use it in X4. X1 Zero was just X but better in every single way. Well, till you acquire all the upgrades in the game anyway. At which point you can more or less do everything Zero was capable of doing that X wasn’t at the start of the game. X2 is the first appearance of the Z-Saber. And it’s not really THAT prominent. In a boss fight against him from a distance he will fire two beams, then slash his saber that fires a sword beam, then dash towards you. Or if you collect all his parts he doesn’t this to attack the copy of Zero created by the X-Hunters. In X3 he’s primarily a ranged weapons based character like his previous versions. If you charge up his regular shot you can charge up to 4 levels. With 4 levels charged you get two full power charge shots and his sword as the final attack but it no longer does sword beams. And X can acquire the Sword in this game making him a better version of Zero if he’s got golden armor and a sword. He can do everything Zero can do and more basically (like air dashing). X4 they DRASTICALLY changed how zero plays and I think that was a good idea honestly. X1 he’s just there to show what X can and will become at full power. X2 he’s still just a variation of X who outside of being able to block and a specific attack where he hits the ground more or less just does things X can do but slightly better. Like he can fire 3 charged beams in a row instead of X’s 2 because he fires a sword beam after the second shot. X3 his main function is to have a character to play that better than how X starts in that game but not as over powered as X can become in said game. And he basically plays more or less just like X. So, making a second playable character in X4 it made sense to ignore that Zero has been a very projectile heavy character in every appearance he’s had prior to X4 and make him a melee character because it gives a much different playing experience than how in X3 he’s basically just a better version than armorless X (essentially X1 armor X with X2 buster) but weaker than final form X. also… on the part where Inafune said they should put the X version of the character in the game instead of the Zero series version… I mean, yeah… I feel that was a good decision and all, but I would have personally preferred the Zero series version.
@@chimericalical Yeah, making him melee focused from X4 onwards was the right call overall, I'd say. Appreciate the clip/magazine correction on the Jill video btw!
