@@kittentalons every episode got progressively better after the amazing first 2 episodes. So yeah, in a good series, the first two episodes should be the worst.

Wandavision is my favorite of all the disney+ shows though, with Loki coming on second.
The grief episode came the day after I had to put my service dog down for cancer. When Vision said the famous quote I broke down horribly, but in the most healing way. It was just what I needed. This series will always hold a place in my heart. Love the breakdown
My dog Daisy passed away in August. She was my best friend and I do feel bad about it sometimes. But i remember all the good times I had with her and that will keep our friendship alive

Love how Elizabeth Olsen is undoubtedly perfect as Wanda and how more details prove. Her early childhood has a deep connection to Wanda's own childhood-watching sitcoms on the side as the younger to her twins until she creates one of her own and in contrast she is the older to the twins in her story. Love how it balances out perfectly and loving DeepDive already, instant hit!
Since Shang Chi, I have thought that Billy’s and Tommy’s voices calling out to Wanda at the end was connected to the dark force that caused Shang Chi’s dad to hear his mom calling for help.
@@Bearded_one1 Well, if you see re-watch some scenes with Thanos in Infinity War and Wanda's in Multiverse of Madness, you can see the similarities between. The whole speech of being "Mercy and Reasonable" literally to Strange, them using the Reality Stone/Or Chaos Magic to transformed someone into something twirls (Mantis & Mr. Fantastic), literally grabbing someone's throat (America & Vision) to get finally what they want until it will get backfired soon or later....

Like you I'm finding this 2nd round so much more enlightening as to so many of the intricate details, as you noted, the beauty of the end credit design for example. Bottom line, this entire series is a subtle horror/thriller story with a gut-wrenching dread of the loss/non-existence of children as well as lost love. It's truly a glimpse of deep pain and suffering on the part of Wanda and as we see going forward, how that transforms her into the monster we see in DSMM - another favorite MCU film of ours. I haven't watched all of this yet so continuing onward - LOVING THIS SO FAR! Awesome job!

Amazing work, Erik! Shows like WandaVision deserve a deep dive because it shows just how more beautiful and intricate everything is. Already a fan of this channel.
Voss, you did such a great job at showing all the little details and how they reflect the theme of the show grief. This show has a place in my heart because of how much I relate to Wanda's grief. When the show cane out had been 9 months after the love of my life passed away. I think the show was fantastic as a metaphor for depression and depicting grief in a unique way but still relatable to anyone who has experienced grief
After watching this thoroughly deep dive into Wanda/Scarlet Witch and how grief informed her existence, it would be great to see a deep dive into Moon Knight and maybe a preview into where the character goes onto next within the MCU. Excellent deep dive!
Thanks for the Deep Dive, Voss! Wandavision is one of the best-loved and least understood shows from Marvel. I heard lots of criticism for Multiverse of Madness, and Wanda's slide into villainy. What people don't understand is that you don't just "get over" grief and trauma. You never really conquer grief. You learn to live with it. You never know when something, or someone will trigger you, and it's always fresh. The trauma didn't happen years ago, it is happening RIGHT NOW. Dealing with loss isn't a straight line to emotional health. Sometimes it takes several twists along the way. Demanding that Wanda just "get better" shows a lack of empathy, or just the audience too used to plots tied up in 30 minutes. Like a sitcom. Ohhh! 🤯
I mean, I understand that you don't just 'get over' grief but I still think the change from how Wanda was in WandaVision to MoM was abrupt. It felt like stuff happened off screen that should have happened on screen. Wanda was always going to go down the path of obsessing over getting back some of what she lost because of her unresolved trauma and grief, and I don't think the ending of WandaVision meant that she was completely healed. But her descent into what she became in MoM was still hurried imo so I understand why people feel like it detracts from what she learned and experienced at the end of WandaVision. It would have been nice to see her at least struggle with truly facing reality and moving on vs. running after what she lost, or slowly become more and more embroiled in her grief and anger and her actions becoming more and more violent and calculated to reflect that. Instead she just goes from being a traumatised Avenger who saved lives and is clearly guilty about the deaths she has unintentionally caused in the past AND the fact that she brainwashed and mentally tortured hundreds of people, to just straight up being willing to murder a child to get to her own children back. To me there's was some missing character development for her to have gotten to the point where she just doesn't care about killing hundreds of innocent people to get her kids back. And I know people say 'the dark hold corrupts people' or 'she's grieving and traumatised' but like, from a narrative perspective, to me (and a lot of people) that isn't satisfying, we want to *see* that progression and have it be meaningful, to see her trying not to hurt people and struggling to reconcile what she learned about grief and moving on with the reality of her trauma and pain and lack of support. I think that intial ambivalence before she plunges head first into unabashed villainy would have honoured where WandaVision ended, while showing the impact of repeated, unceasing trauma and loss on her psyche and worldview. The lack of that portion of the story makes it feel as if the Wanda we see in WandaVision and the Wanda we see in MoM are different people, at least to me. Or that there's a huge chunk for the story that we're missing. That's my main critique, as someone who can firmly understand that trauma and loss are things that take a lifetime to recover from and even then, things you continue to carry with you instead of completely 'getting over'. You can understand and respect the gravity and complexity of those topics while still criticising the way this characters arc was handled. I would have been just as disappointed if Wanda was a-okay in her next appearance, because like you said people don't magically get over trauma. But they also don't typically dive head first into premeditated murder and child endangerment especially when they have very recently shown real remorse and pain at hurting others. Dealing with loss isn’t a straight line in EITHER direction. Wanda has all the building blocks for a complex, sympathetic villain, she has truly dealt with too much, too soon and with too little support to just get 'over' things, but she was a bit mishandled in her final descent into villainy imo.
@@Lisa_Flowers I lost my best friend to suicide and I went through several cycles of self destruction before I put my full focus on healing. Everyone handles grief differently
Hats off to you man! All this hard work can't even imagine how long it would've taken to break down . This was epic though Erik! WV is my favourite Marvel Series . Do you think when Wanda returns she will work through her grief and harness her "inner angel "?
I love WandaVision so much. Elizabeth Olsen is amazing especially in those early episodes. I always think about that dinner with the Harts where she's in her early sitcom higher-pitched voice and then goes to her regular voice to tell Vision to help him and back to sitcom voice like it's nothing. Really looking forward to more videos.
I've always appreciated your detailed Easter egg breakdowns. Definitely have been anticipating The Deep Dive debut, and it doesn't disappoint. That's a lot of D words. Congratulations on an excellent new project.
Your comment on the piano intrigued me, and as a VFX artist, I took a look and I think I know how they did that, the whole time, the prop is the flat board, the leg that you mention Erik, is in fact the CG part, right before she lifts the piano, you can see it slide slightly to merge with what I assume is the leg on the cutout, its clever because most of the bottom of the leg is obscured by the table so it's not a hard thing to do. Its very subtle but I believe that's how they did that little VFX trick. Hope this does not ruin the magic
I feel like the beekeeper is more related to the wanda being the queen bee and she has all the other bees working for her, in this case the entire town. Sword being the beekeeper trying to save the "bees". And it goes perfectly as a bee metaphor to all the hexagon shapes. Thoughts? @erikvoss
Erik, this new channel is a game changer. It's obviously a HUGE undertaking, but you're doing an absolutely stellar job, as everyone would have expected. You're knocking it out of the park.
I’d like to point out also when Agnes says “She has no family. No husband. No Home.” We think she’s referring to Geraldine, but she’s actually talking about Wanda. No family; they are all dead; parents and brother killed, No husband; she’s not married to Vision who’s also dead, and no home; her home back in Russia was destroyed by a Stark warhead.
(and she "lives" in an empty foundation, not a home, just the shadow of the hope of one day owning such a place... now pointless as the one she wanted to use it with isn't there any longer.)
Ok ok, hear me out!! Perhaps Nightmare was somehow manipulating Wanda’s grief! Agatha knows this and they are both working together… With Nightmare being cut from Multiverse of Madness I can’t help but think they might save this reveal for Coven of Chaos?!?
Incredible video Erik, Love this brand new channel a clear view of how big of a movie fan you are. Please keep them coming. Can't wait to see the other videos you have planned.
Voss, you are in fact, a Boss. Grief as a Phase 4 theme? It kind of makes some of the Phase 4 "duds" a little better revisiting them! Dude this channel is amazing, NR is killing it, and we're all learning and growing too. ❤️
New Rockstars channel, same old Rockstars ads. But seriously this recap/explanation/whatever you want to call it was amazing. I didn't know I needed this until I watched it. I look forward to all the content this new channel brings.
This is easily the greatest breakdown of anything that I've ever seen in my life. Well done, Eric. Holy cow. All the details, the beautiful comments about grief and negative emotions... Wow. Also, I never noticed the smirk after Agatha calls her cruel, either. That's terrifying. This breakdown truly shows that even without the end scene of Wanda using the Darkhold, her setup to be the villain in Multiverse of Madness is clear. I didn't have any thoughts on, or excitement for, Coven of Chaos, but now I'm excited! I hope they bring back Wanda at some point, as well. I adore her.
Already I can tell I am going to appreciate breakdowns from this channel so much more than the more recent stuff from new rock stars. I love this more in depth philosophical stuff keep up the good work
First off, the channel has a stranglehold on my attention. This is a wonderful format for learning more about some of our favorite projects, new and old. A potential help could be if a video like this had chapters for intro, ep. no., summary, etc. but keep up the brilliant work, I love this.
I’ve always thought that Mrs. Hart saying “stop it” was in reference to Wanda telling the scientists of S.W.O.R.D to stop with what they’re doing to Vision’s body.
Loving this channel so far, it's extremely interesting all these details that weren't seen before and how deep we really can go into the underlying theme and hidden details
Herb wasn't "about to say" anything. Agatha was controlling him in that moment. The point is to make Vision distrustful of that reality and Wanda so they separate and he tries to leave, which she successfully makes him do. That's why she did the thing in the car when she was wearing a witch's hat.
The plant Agatha gives Wanda is actually Croton Petra, not Dumb Cane. Croton Petra has been in a ton of Disney properties lately - it's at Roxxcart in Loki and in the casita in Encanto. It's native to south India but grows well in Florida because it loves that humid heat.
Your deep dive has made me appreciate Elizabeth Olsen's acting, even more. Plus, amazing episode; this was so cool! I understand the point of the channel and I applaud it.
I think my issue with the writing in Multiverse of Madness isn't the idea of Wanda relapsing or being influenced by the darkhold, it's that it was never explained well enough that that was what was going on. You can make it make sense in retrospect, analysing and reflecting on what happened, but the narrative itself is so focused on setting up the twist reveal and making a scary horror villain, that it fails to make clear exactly why the friendly, familiar, and apparently healing Wanda is suddenly behaving like a bigger monster than she's ever been before.
Such a fantastic video, and you really strenghten the fans who enjoyed phase 4. Where they tried new things and dived into grief, which makes the superhero output more real & emotional. Great job putting all this together. And again, Miss Olsen did a phenomenal job in Wanda/Vision & MoM. And I really understood why she ended up in such a dark place with the evil book on her side. I can't wait to see Wanda coming back
I wonder what it was like for Agatha to be a powerful elder witch watching Wanda subconsciously take over an entire town and warp it into a sitcom. I completely understand why she would attempt to take Wanda's power. I really hope they don't cancel Agatha's show.
i love that she turned SWORD into a literal circus aswell The entire series was so well done- i just love how they set everything up to unravel- i remember all the youtube videos speculating what the hex was going on each week ! so good- i cant wait for Agathas show
Just noticed another similarity between Loki and wandavision, they both sing songs from their childhood, Loki in the pub to Silvie and Wanda to her kids
32:00 it wasn't a random phrase... The boys were debating the possibility of him being a vampire. Fietro hears them and jumps up saying the phrase in a transylvanian accent to tease them as a vampire.
I wish more people had commented on the brilliance of Debra Jo Rupp's performance in the pilot. It might have been just a brief moment, but it was the scene that really kicked off the tone of the show, and it can't have been a easy job to portray so convincingly a woman suffering in the inside who's being magically forced to laugh on the outside. Just beautiful work.
LOVE NR VIDEOS!! You guys are the best! As a super plant nerd (which means I love to educate people on plants), that's plant in the back is a Croton but the sentiment Eric points out still stands... Toxic to dogs (and all other pets). Cheers! Keep up the awesome breakdowns!

It was Mephisto.... I mean Agatha all along.
New Rockstars channel, same old Rockstars ads.
But seriously this recap/explanation/whatever you want to call it was amazing. I didn't know I needed this until I watched it. I look forward to all the content this new channel brings.
Olsen deserved tons of awards for her performance in the show.
The time when wandavision was comming out is so nostalgic to me now
@@GZP1023 yea but it was a complete different vibe
Yeah it was also the return of mcu after being gone for 2 years
I consider it the Golden era... Those first few shows from Wanda Vision, Captain America and the Winter Soldier, and Loki all spoiled us.
Crazy days.
it was so long ago
Already I can tell I am going to appreciate breakdowns from this channel so much more than the more recent stuff from new rock stars. I love this more in depth philosophical stuff keep up the good work
One thing this video made me realize is how bad I want Erik Voss to sing the entire “Agatha All Along” song
You really made me appreciate this show even more man! You’re amazing at what you do!
A deep dive into the themes of Moon Knight would be pretty good, especially when it tackled the themes of trauma.
Hart saying “stop it” was in reference to Wanda telling the scientists of S.W.O.R.D to stop with what they’re doing to Vision’s body.
absolutely in love with this channel. many people think that the MCU is just fun explosion's and cameos but there so many levels to them
Still love this show and my introduction of Voss and Jessica ❤️❤️…I know some had issues with the series but still my favorite of the MCU series
Loving this channel so far, it's extremely interesting all these details that weren't seen before and how deep we really can go into the underlying theme and hidden details
I love this already just seconds in!!! “and i still think i was right about Mephisto too”!😂❤
Wow Erik V, this was incredible. This almost brought me to tears. Amazing deep dive
Herb wasn't "about to say" anything. Agatha was controlling him in that moment. The point is to make Vision distrustful of that reality and Wanda so they separate and he tries to leave, which she successfully makes him do. That's why she did the thing in the car when she was wearing a witch's hat.
Oh, I am SO HYPED for this channel. It's like what I do on my own with movies just now with a familiar face and a team behind the thoughts!
I was coming to say the same thing!
That explains why i see them everywhere, lol
Your deep dive has made me appreciate Elizabeth Olsen's acting, even more. Plus, amazing episode; this was so cool! I understand the point of the channel and I applaud it.
Damn I forgot how good this show was… rewatching it after losing a close loved one really hurts.
This honestly has changed the way I watch Wandavision. There's a ton of excellent acknowledgment of nuance here, and I love it! Thank you!
I can't wait to see Wanda coming back
If you don't understand why Wanda does what she does then I'm happy for you, cause you haven't been through true grief and depression.
51:46. another manifestation of grief was the dweller in darkness manipulating Wenwu's grief and mourning
I wonder what it was like for Agatha to be a powerful elder witch watching Wanda subconsciously take over an entire town and warp it into a sitcom.
I completely understand why she would attempt to take Wanda's power.
I really hope they don't cancel Agatha's show.
i love that she turned SWORD into a literal circus aswell
The entire series was so well done- i just love how they set everything up to unravel- i remember all the youtube videos speculating what the hex was going on each week ! so good- i cant wait for Agathas show
Just noticed another similarity between Loki and wandavision, they both sing songs from their childhood, Loki in the pub to Silvie and Wanda to her kids
32:00 it wasn't a random phrase... The boys were debating the possibility of him being a vampire. Fietro hears them and jumps up saying the phrase in a transylvanian accent to tease them as a vampire.
Great deep dive Eric. I’m digging this channel so far
Great stuff team New Rockstars. I thought these videos were too long until I watched them. Well worth the time. Thanks for the additional insights
E you made me a fan of this show all over again with the deep dive.
Now I'm going to watch it for a 4th time!
Your breakdowns and this deep dive have helped me better understand the things I watch that I don't like at first but then learn to better appreciate because of a clearer perception.
I loved watching the NewRockstars break downs for this show. What an amazing time. Each week the awesome nostalgic feel and the questions driving me nuts. I’m still so on board with the Mephisto theory still! I remember when one of the episodes came out and Disney+ crashed because of so many people trying to get on a watch at once.
This video was so impactful for me, as a huge fan of Marvel and WandaVision, but as someone going through the grieving process. Thank you and can't wait for your next post! ❤
I can’t believe how many new pieces of information were included in this so long after it’s released. Good job on this video.
I love this. I typically just listen to your videos, but this time I stopped what I was doing to watch and listen the entire video. I am so excited to watch the other deep dives you do!!! Thank you for all this brain food you're giving us!!
Fantastic video. I actually rewatched WandaVision and Multiverse Of Madness when you announced you would make this deep dive. Such a great show, easily my favorite MCU Disney Plus show!
This is incredible. I enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you!!
New Rockstars team, you knocked it out of the park with this one. Great job, thank you for the endless minutes and hours of entertainment.
This is AWESOME, I knew there was more to get out of this show. THANK YOU EV - really excited about this new project.
So excited about this channel! Already loving the Deep Dive!
Even though I've watched the show several times, I still learn new things about it! Loving the new deep dive format.
I would loooooooove to see you do Station 11. In my opinion one of the best post-apocalyptic dramas. Thanks for everything Mr Voss!
That intro sealed the deal, another great video! I'm with you on the Mephisto train :x
Oh wow! Voss being an absolutely Boss doing this deep break downs! Loving this channel already! I would love to watch a deep dive on my other favorite, Loki! Congrats on this new endeavor!
This was an amazing video, didn't even feel like an hour it's that engaging, can't wait for more Erik Voss videos
Love the content!! Very very much. I didn’t think it was possible to put more work in then you already were?! Thank you Voss!
I am sorry for your loss. You understand grief too well to not have lost. 💜 I lost my sister 4 yrs ago yesterday....I totally understand Wanda.
My god….great episode as usual, but the writing (I’m assuming you write a script of sorts for these) is unbelievably beautiful, sad and enthusiastic almost at the same time. Your passion for the subject comes through. You are a very gifted writer❤
Thank you for this. While I've enjoyed all the Disney Plus Marvel content, I still think that WandaVision is my favorite with Loki a very close second. This was a great revisit. And that intro was too perfect. Hahahaha!
