Why do you connect to USB-C instead of LANC control port on ZCAM E2-M4 or E2-S6? ie. LANC on Ninja V to LANC on E2 camera. Keeping USB-C free is useful to record with SSD disks directly.
@@allsxxing you can use any SSD. Just has to be as fast as whatever codec you are wanting to record. Recording straight to the NINJA V would be more ideal in this setup. IMO.
@@KyleTyndall Probably could’ve worded my original comment better…whoops! I didn’t mean that we’d only be limited to AtomX branded SSDs, but rather we’d be limited to only recording via Atomos; HUGE files overkill Pretty much give up the option to record from ZCAM-to-SSD directly. And I’m a Samsung T7 stan so yea…🥲
why don't you update your top model shogun 7? when i bought it i thought it would be a priority in the update? why are you adding Rav support in new cameras on ninja v and ignoring shogun 7?
Hello @Casapixel, Thank you for contacting ATOMOS. Thank you for reaching out with your feature request. We've forwarded your suggestion regarding the ability to control other Zcam E2 4K functions directly from Ninja to our development team for consideration. We appreciate your feedback and are always looking for ways to enhance our products to better meet our users' needs. If you have any further suggestions or questions, please feel free to let us know ATOMOS
Doesnt work for me on the exact same settings. I can not trigger the camera without getting errors on screen and the skippy sign after that. I‘m on several highspeed hdmi cables and samsung 860 pro ssd. Any help would be appreciated!
You might need an AtomX SSDmini drive, especially if you're trying to shoot ProRes RAW 4K60p or 4K120p. Nextorage and Angelbird both make a version of that drive, the former being newer. Warning, they are expensive. Also might require a Ninja V+ (not just the V model), again, depending on your desired frame rate. I have yet to be able to record ProRes RAW 4K120p on my Ninja V+, but finally (after a loooooooong story with their extremely unhelpful tech support), two of their sales directors confirmed that consumer-grade drives like your 860 PRO and my Crucial MX500 don't have fast enough sustained write speeds to prevent frame dropping/skipping, despite their own compatibility list saying they do. Hope that helps you.
Please Upload a Sample ProRess RAW file link in the discription. For me Especially I'm waiting for S1H ProRess RAW file and it's metdata. Thanks for the guide
I doubt it. I have a Z CAM E2-M4 and an Atomos Ninja V+ (the faster updated model), and have not been able to reliably record ProRes RAW 4K120p without dropped frames using consumer SSDs. While I haven't personally experienced dropped frames at 60p, the Ninja V is not as capable as the V+, and I would have to imagine it would struggle. According to information I just learned from Atomos's sales director, even the consumer SSDs they still recommend on their drive compatibility list are not fast enough for higher frame rates, either. They haven't updated that list, but they have since been recommending either the Nextorage or Angelbird AtomX SSDmini drives for 60p or 120p, which are supposedly fast enough with the Ninja V+ - albeit much, much more expensive. Hope that helps you.
@@GuillePozzi well I guess that makes sense since you can't display the menu while in raw mode anyway. Also the camera menu control on my bm5 monitor sucks too because you're controlling a 3x3 grid with only up and down arrows and an ok button. It wouldn't likely be any better I suppose.
I swear this has been the wildest year for camera tech that I've ever seen.

I was thinking the same thing. Kinda forces ppl to buy their AtomX SSDmini 😔

Any firmware coming for Shinobi to control the Z CAM E2?
Hi, when is the usb-c cable shown in the video be available? Thanks
where can we purchase the cord for camera controls?
In future recorders, do you consider using M.2ssD as storage? You can record 8K FPS/s later.
When will a 30cm control cable be released?
Hi Guille, this information is being passed on to our engineering team. Cheers

I just got the Alvin's Cables LANC to UART control cable, it's short, it's tiny, and it keeps the USB available. Works right out of the box.
@@TheNefastor and what is your Z cam model?

If I’m controlling the camera with a cable to USB C on my z cam I now don’t have a port for my external T5?
Why there is no update to control other zcam e2 4k functions directly from Ninja? Like the "tap to focus" function found on Shogun?

Why zcam don't use HDMi to control e2 camera? More cable connections is hassle.
Yeah and it's the first I'm hearing of it, it isn't mentioned in any review or rig build video I've been watching.
Atomos, can you help me? Where can i buy a USB-C to Serial - Z CAM E2 LANC Cable? I've been looking everywhere. Thanks!
Phu Nguyen me too ! Nothing found so far
dancindragon ddp you can use their lanc to usb a cable then USA an usb c adapter 👍
@Atomos i recorded for half a minute but i got multi 6 seconds video files what might be the problem is it ssd or might be something else ؟
Yes please update us all on the control cable. The Alvin remote to usb to usb c is a terrible work around and the cord is sooooooo long
