I rather like that Seaspray's love story in the cartoon ended with him and his girlfriend realizing that their outer differences didn't matter. It's pretty common these days to have an interspecies romance either end in tragedy, have the couple break up, or have one of them convert into the other's species. To me, this kind of sends the message of "You can't be loved if you're different." Very rarely do you find an example of an interspecies romance where the pair involved manage to make it work despite their differences.

The three ingredients used to make Seaspray amazing:
1) A voice that sounds like a mouth filled with water.
2) A hover craft alt mode
3) Personality that Transformers fans can relate to.

Seaspray is the perfect example of "Your story does not need to be long, if it is good." The romance story was one of the best of the original run, and quite unexpected. He was a positive character toward differences and overcoming them, and a plucky little guy that enjoyed who and what he was.
So Hasbro should consider him for a future role. Especially these days. We need positive characters more than ever.
Seaspray was always one of my favorite Autobots. Glad to see him get the spotlight focused on him at last!

Man, poor Sea Spray; really hope he eventually gets his time to shine.
He had it, though, a stand-out G1 episode and surviving the movie. Not saying he shouldn't get more but don't sell the minibot short.
Really I hope he gets some screentime in the new bumblebee universe.....

Seaspray is the Autobots' best boi, a role he fulfils together with Beachcomber.
We really need more sea transformers, they're often overlooked
Yeah it'd be interesting to see more of that. I hadn't really thought about it before, but there's a lot of land, air and space ones but few for the sea
yeah, one of my oc's actually turns into a squid (her first altmode) and later an amphibious firetruck
The only other aquatic Transformers I can think of are Depth Charge from "Beast Wars" and Sky Byte, since they turned into a manta ray and shark respectively. Although, I'm sure there may have been some that turned into a speed boat or submarine.
Tidal Wave, that fucker still gives me flashbacks to the Transformers Armada game. "Oh he's a big boss, gonna be a bullet sponge easy sauce!"

That’s not a bad career he even gets the girl, and has a pretty rad live action toy. Not a lot of Transformers get a fraction of that, not even Cliffjumper.

Aww. The relationship between Seaspray and Alanna feels so wholesome.
Not only was Seaspray willing to become a member of Alanna's species, but Alanna was willing to become a Cybertronian. I think that part is very important. It really shows how much they care for one another and cements the message they eventually settled on: That it doesn't matter what they _look_ like, it's their mutual feelings that really matter.

I just realized, the Alan Oppenheimer mini-bot trilogy is now complete. Starting with Beachcomber, then Warpath and now Seaspray.

Optimus, Ironhide, Inferno, Seaspray and Powerglide are the only G1 Transformers I can think of that have girlfriends.

One of the first transformers I can remember owning was G1 Seaspray. I also remember how I lost him. Our basement had flooded when a storm drain was blocked, and I can remember my dad having to literally swim to reach it. After he went in, I wanted to help, so I threw Seaspray into the water, hoping it would do something. I did end up finding him when we moved out of that house, trapped under our laundry machine, rusted and without his sticker, but alive!
Could probably do one for Evac. He had a pretty decent role in the unicron trilogy as well as being who you ride in on the transformers ride in universal studios.
That manga shot at 6:44 made me laugh. Interesting pose directly in front of Seaspray's face. 😅

Seaspray is also a rare example of nautical transformers, the Combiner team of the Seacons, Triple Changer Broadside and Tidal Wave of the Unicron Trilogy, being another few. I like that rarity and being the first Transformers romance is nothing to joke about. Anchors away and yo ho ho for Seaspray!

oh the funny coincidence that the voice actor played Mer-Man in He-Man and Seaspray became an actual Merman using the Well of Transformation in the G1 cartoon, that had to be intentional, lol.
Thank you for doing this series. Before I started watching these, I never knew how expansive transformers stories were, and have started a much greater interest in the series.

@@tricksterzyro3230 If you look up Alan Oppenheimer's voice roles he did many voices on that show including Skeletor and Mer-Man. In TF he not only did Seaspray, he also did Warpath and Beachcomber. Also the film director who called Hoist "Moist" 😂😂.

I have a personal soft spot for seaspray, years ago I slowly started to be less and less involved in the transformers franchise as the bayverse movies went on and after the last knight I nearly gave up on the brand as a whole, until one Christmas I received a titans return legends class seaspray figure and I immediately recognized him and my memories of watching him in the G1 cartoon flooded back to me and my brain. I didn’t get officially involved in the transformers franchise again until the hype of the bumblebee movie, but it was seaspray who opened the floodgates again. The figure has now become a very personal favorite of mine that I admire every day and now every time I look at seaspray I see all the reasons why I love this franchise and that I never should have left.

3:42 G2 Seaspray was my 1st Transformer that wasn't a G1 hand-me-down from my older brother. He will always hold a special place in my heart.
Well, I never thought I'd be looking for a Seaspray toy, especially not a G2 version, but here we are.

A little off topic, but no one's really done a good video on him in his different iterations, and he's one of my tops from the IDW comics. I'd love to see you do a video on him

I freaking love Seaspray’s look in Animated. It just looks like a dude wearing water floaties. It kinda makes me wish if Animated made a toy of him, it would be a bath toy.
It's honestly a shame that Seaspray has only been in cameos. Heck now that think about it, that's almost always the fate water based transformers.

I've been waiting for Seaspray to be covered. Another favorite character of mine crossed off the list.
This will always be a character that I will be first in line for when a new toy or story comes out for him. I owe his g1 toy everything for getting me into this franchise.

If Seaspray should ever return I hope that they keep his love story with him, it's probably one of the best the series gave next to Powerglide's love story and even Optimus and Elita's relationship.
That was indeed a very nice lovestory/couple (same with Elita/Optimus). What else comes to mind would be IDW Thundercracker and Marissa Faireborn. I really enjoyed these two and their interactions as well. Oh, and of course IDW Starscream and Windblade... ;)

I always liked Seaspray, that voice of his always stood out. I always felt that they should have returned to that planet, as the mystical pool was too much of a tactical opportunity to be left alone.

Sea Change, along with the Star Trek: TNG episode 'Measure of a Man', were some of the first instances that really had a young me think about what it *really* means to be alive.

I’ve always liked the 2nd wave of Mini-Autobots like Seaspray ever since I saw them in the Smelting Pool issue of the Marvel Transformers comic. They had a lot more variety to them than the first wave.
Fun fact they're were 4 more Autobots mentioned in Transformers Prime that didn't appear in the show, but was mentioned
Seaspray is basically just the Thunderbird 4 of Cybertron...
For us toys collectors one of the nicest variants is the G2 purple Seaspray, a beautiful piece

I can still remember having to choose just one mini Autobot back in 86, I went with Powerglide but thought about leaving Seaspray on the peg for many years.
One of my favorite autobots, too bad he's been "pulling a Hoist" for almost the entire franchise.
It nearly makes my cry how little shrift you pay Seaspray, one of my all-time favourite characters; the fierce warrior poet who got down in both human(ish) and robot modes

@@Adam-ln4og One of these days, they'll make a sci-fi series with species OTHER than "humans with prosthetics glued to their faces" and "just Cybertronians from a different planet." There's always one or two exceptions, and I GET WHY that's usually the case, but man... it's overdue.

Fun Fact: Alanna, The female alien that Seaspray fell in love with, was voiced by Melendy Britt... who worked with Seaspray's voice actor Alan Oppenheimer on the FILMATION series "She-Ra: Princess of Power". I would recognize her voice anywhere! For too long, the one-off role of Alanna had erroneously been credited to Morgan Lofting.

His episode in G1 was one of the most memorable episodes for me, partly because of just how unique it was.

Yaay, I'm so glad for this episode! Seaspray's stories/episodes were always some of my favorites. Lol, 'Bee's face at the, "She-she kissed me~" line xDD There was always just something so pure about him, and whatever appearance he made was so memorable you didn't really need more episodes with him in it. Woulda been nice, of course, but I was always happy with the appearances he had.

Alan Oppenheimer is a saint for 80s kids. Not only was he the voice of Seaspray, but Skeletor (and others) on HE-MAN, and the voice of Rhinokey on WUZZLES!
And if you're a fan of MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000, you'd recognize him for his appearance in RIDING WITH DEATH.
I've always loved seaspray's very different alt mode. things where the franchise goes way out there with stuff are 100% my favourite and he fits the bill

it would be cool if seaspray got more of a spotlight in future media i would make him the heavy transport of the autobots and a triple changer having a armored military transport mode and his hover craft mode along with the ability to convert water into nitrogen
