I got to meet Springer's original voice actor Neil Ross at a convention two years ago, he was kind enough to humor me with Springer's infamous one-liner, a Colonel Volgin Kuwabara Kuwabara, and some Green Goblin cackling. Awesome guy.

Nick Roche and James Roberts' take on the character is by far my favorite version. It would be nice to see him get a bigger role in the upcoming cartoon, but I feel like we're more likely just to get the main cast of the original series. Still, I hope to see him get more attention.

I love Springer! He's always been strike first, ask questions later type of bot! He's supposed to be a hero, now that makes sense why he's so action pack in his scenes! Thanks! This was REALLY enjoyable!
Springer is way too underused of the character. To me he is the only real proper autobot triple changer considering one is from another planet and the other has some... sizing issues.

James Attack To be fair, Autobot triple changers were never given the push and fanfare their decepticon counterparts received. Some concepts ( triple changers decepticon, headmaster Autobot ) should've been unique to each faction.
Size issues are not just a thing with Broadside. Astotrain: Although not as big as an aircraft carrier, a space shuttle is a huge thing, a lot bigger than a locomotive. Sandstorm: A buggy is very tiny compared to a CH-53 Super Stallion (in fact you could transport several buggy's into a H-53 series!).
Octane: a tanker truck is a lot smaller than a 767 plane.
Blitzwing: a MiG-25 is 4 times bigger than a Type 74 tank (although in his case the differences are the smallest compared to the others).
In Broadside's case the differences are the most extreme though (Nimitz class and F/A-18). Followed by Astrotrain, Octane, Standstorm and Blitzwing. In Springers case both modes are fictional so he does not need size changing. But he also suffers from both alt modes looking very much alike. Why is Springer officially a Triple changer but Tracks is not?
I actually liked Broadside. One of the few Transformers with a ship mode (the only other in the G1 cartoon was Seaspray). He was also the size of a combiner so was pretty strong. Picking up Matrix powered Scourge and even having a scene battling Predaking and Devastator.
There was even one scene in which he used his size changing to drop onto Devastator in aircraft carrier mode to defeat him, which I think was hilarious. :D
I liked him getting a new toy in the Titans return line. Although it was to small. I think the new Commander size class or even a Titan class would fit him well. His aircraft carrier mode would be lots of fun combined with smaller aircraft Transformers (for instance if they release the Micromaster Autobot Air Patrol). Still hoping for the TR Broadside to get an oversized KO version.
Definitely happy with the WFC Siege Springer as the Generations one was one of the worst toys released in the Generations line.
Hope they will release a new Sandstorm as well.

The third season had the best writing
In that episode the quintessons captured Spike's kid and were using some kind of technology to bring his nightmares to life. Season 3 was weird.
I've shared that iconic quote with family and friends and I think they're now Springer fans even if Transformers isn't on their watchlist.
The Siege Voyager Class toy is one of the best Siege figures so far! He fits so well with my other '86 Autobots, including Titans Return Hot Rod, Kup, Blurr, and Generations Arcee. The scaling is just right!
I loved the IDW Springer toy but always felt he was too tall for the others. He now joins Broadside and Sandstorm with other Wreckers in my display!
Wow. I actually felt the opposite, even after getting him; the vehicle modes are right at home, but the robot mode *to me* feels just a little too short. Still an incredibly cool figure, though.
Springer is like one of the best characters ever. He's so confident, so amazing and so cool. A true action hero in his own right!
Which is all the more reason why he should make more appearances in newer media.
Well of course he didn't appear in anything, he had better things to do.

It's honestly such a crime that Springer never had any other major appearances in any other show outside of G1. He's such an underrated character and a badass.
It's a pitty that he didn't make it into fall of cybertron, that bot design and especially the vehicles look cool

AoE Drift should've been Springer. He's a triple-changer. He has three modes; one robot mode, one helicopter mode and one car mode. The same modes that Springer has.

Springer is definitely a perfect example of chad for a Transformers.
Would love to see the Junkions get an episode, them and the Sharkticons mainly due to their differing designs and their similar concept.

Another excellent episode Chris. I have been a big fan Of Springer since the movie and the Old UK books, just been revisiting his original stories in the Definitive G1 collection.

Great sign-off line Chris... Springer is one of the greatest Transformers of all time! Having never read IDW Comics I picked up a 3rd Party Masterpiece Springer, Toyworld's model, which is a beautiful homage to the original toy. I'm going to get the Springer mould you spoke so highly of in its Sandstorm configuration. As The Transformers The Movie is my favourite piece of cinema ever made, I much prefer the Siege version to the Generations one.
Springer's one of my favorites. I recently got back into collecting, inspired by the Netflix series, so i'm glad i'm able to acquire him. TV-wise, I think he'd be more popular if he was utilized more.

Imagine if Springer was actually playable in FoC. How cool yet probably annoying that would be seeing as we may have to cycle through modes to transform to a particular one. Unless jumping off a ledge triggers the ability to use the helicopter.

I kind of wish Springer did make it to the live action films, albeit with a different design than the osprey concept. Would have been awesome to hear him say that quote during battle.

He's been one of my fav TF characters since seeing the movie in 1986 as a kid. The WFC Siege figure they recently released is really great.

His famous one-liner is probably my favorite line from the movie.
This is why I watch the basics. To Learn more about transformers I barely knew about. And aside from the original series all the other transformers series I watched never mentioned Springer. The gloat the hell out of the Wreckers but never talk about their members individually unless their dead. So finding out about Springer and not his role as Wreckers leader is truly amazing. I'm still holding out for a Sideways video but Springer was still a good triple filler.

Springer is one of the characters I can see becoming a prime
To mention he is one of the few autobots to understand how Matrix works (unlike Ultramagnus) and to understand what Perceptor was saying))
I love how the couple seconds of cartoon they created for Springer's toy ad looks better than the actual scenes in the movie :P
There was one thing you missed, I remember seeing plans for a botcon figure of Springer using a megatron but never saw the light of day
Astrotrain will always be my favorite Triple Change but Springer is right up there with him when I first saw him in the movie. Just thought he was an awesome character and one of the first characters I saw use a sword in battle. Wish they let him use his word more in the series.

They did release the Siege version redecoed in his G1 toy colors and with a Wreckers Autobot insignia as part of The Wreck'n'Rule sub line for Legacy
I had Springer as soon as he came out. Loved everything about him, from the sword to the color scheme. If I could have saved one figure from my collection, it likely would have been him. My younger self was stupid for selling him at that tag sale!
I'm always lamenting selling most of my collection off as a kid too.

All 4 of the big "new" Autobots from the G1 movies are some of my favs in Transformer's history. Kup will always be my fav from the movie but Springer as younger war buddy always felt great.

2:14 does anyone else remember this episode where the Autobots got their minds transferred into human bodies? Cobra Commander was the scientist that showed the Decepticons how to do it.
The Decepticons have their three faces of evil Blitzwing, and the Autobots have their witty action hero Springer. Let them fight.
-Out of all his toys, The 0:16 and 8:21 stand out to me the most. The ROTF 5:06 is cool too.
-Speaking of, I've seen his concept art for ROTF 4:57 but didn't piece together that it really was meant to be Springer till later on. His appearance in the movie comic 5:15 is a cool inclusion.
-5:20 I wish Springer was included in the famous Transformers videogame Fall of Cybertron. His aerial vehicle mode design looks greatly unique.

Considering that in the IDW comics the Wreckers were scared of the Dinobots I wonder if we will ever see them fight. So far all we have gotten is Sandstorm VS Slug but I think it would be a good mini-series. Also since the Wreckers have two main rival groups, being Mayhem Attack Squadron and Squadron X, I wonder who will come out on top for them to.
