This character has a rather unique and fun gimmick and it's a shame that his presence in the franchise is so minimal, especially in animation. It would make a world of difference if Sixshot got to have more opportunities to appear in future Transformers shows, because there's alot he could do. Great stuff as always Chris.
Now this backstory of changing sides, and getting a new form/purpose is why your channel and content is the best. I truly knew nothing about ole Six here other than having the original toy as a kid, knew of the Titans Return toy from EmGo, and how he was big in Headmaster's. But knew nothing of GreatShot and his alliance with StarSaber etc. Awesome
Glad to hear Sixshot has a role in 2019 IDW continuity. For Hasbro to take this LONG to realize how awesome he is is shameful. Takara-Tomy did him justice from the beginning, even redeeming him after his time in the anime ended.
TwistedGaming918 It’s kind of easy to see why Hasbro didn’t do much since G1 was basically about end with it’s tie media. The show only had a few episodes and comic at this point stopped really putting every new character in it, instead focusing on which character the writer really liked. Of course the complexity of his original toy probably helped with later media not using him. Because of the lack of such a complex figure.
This was the first character who shot up on my favorite list once I started digging deeper into the G1 canon, before that I already liked Soundwave and Shockwave from other media like the Cybertron video games. Also, you forgot to mention that in some weird Japanese canon, he owns the Matrix of Evil.
Sixshot has a lot of potential to become a great antagonist. If he ever appears in Travis Knight’s newly rebooted Transformers cinematic universe, I think he might be a memorable character like Shatter and Dropkick.
I recall that quote. Transformers G1 ended in the US just as the toys began to get really cool! My personal favorite was Slugslinger. Great Stuff as always. I look forward to your content each week/bi weekly!
I knew very little about Sixshot, but he's whole apperence and powers are so cool! Even his quote mentioned at the end of this episode is pretty wise and a bit relatable
Omg I'm watching Transformers Victory and I was thinking to myself that Greatshot may be Sixshot, but I didn't know that it was an actual fan theory or that the Legends manga confirmed it and I love that it's true ❤
I hope younger generation can know how awesome he is (my son don't believe when i say there is transformers who have six alt-mode until i show him this video)
Given the fact that his name has a Wild West connotation, "sixshooter" being the nickname of pistols in holsters, it's no surprise that Neil Ross voiced Sixshot's one line in the G1 cartoon with that accent. Though since he's more popular in Japan as a ninja rather than a cowboy, if I were looking for a voice nowadays, I would choose George Takei as the voice of Sixshot.
He is my favorite transformer. I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. He is also in that brave decker police force anime too from what I've read online.
I love sixshot his 6 modes, his characterization, even his arsenal are memorable to me Heck! I didn't even know about him that much until this video show up
Last OG Transformer I got, well after I had quit playing with them. Still have him, he was one of the best of my OG toys. Much more durable than earlier toys without the hokie looks of later toys. He still holds up today. Other than the expensive collectibles, Six Shot looks as good as any new transformer.
@Chris McFeely: Great Job on the Sixshot video, man! I absolutely LOVE Sixshot! He's probably the one of my favorite Transformers next to Soundwave! Also, my favorite modes that Sixshot turns into would probably have to be his winged-wolf mode!
Gun modes have been the millstone around the necks of this franchise. It's so easy to engineer in a toy, but it's so dang hard to make work in cartoons or comics! Then add growing societal issues with fake guns, just for the extra drama. The main villain of the franchise had an alt mode that required someone to hold him tightly, and no amount of new alt modes or retcons will ever change that.
It was fun learning more about the character. When he showed up in the G1 cartoon he left a serious impression on me, needless to say I was pumped when Titans Return announced a figure of him.
I still remember the christmas i got Sixshot, and also his appearance in that movie, where he was sitting beside the kid and gave him what look like a cereal bar.
Thanks bud, outside of the name and his IDW stuff I didn't know anything about him. I always look forward to your stuff as you cover the obsucure bots and not just the main G1 guys.
I would have made a much bigger deal of Sixshot in American media, he was a highlight for me in the Japanese headmasters show. I wish they had used him like that in the US comics at least, preferably the final 3 episodes of the show too
My favourite of Sixshot's modes is the tank, because it looks like a scorpion. The spikes on the front wheels when turned sideways look like claws, and the turret arcs overhead like a scorpion's tail...
Had an idea for a character based on Sixshot ages ago: Basically, they used the various alt modes as a means of being an ambassador figure to each cybertronian caste.
I just watched Victory again a few weeks ago and unless I fell asleep while watching it and had a wild dream I could have swore they went over him becoming an Autobot.
I had the old G1 toy when I was little, and picked up the MMC Terminus Hexatron figure a few years ago. Regardless of version, the tank has always been my favourite, with the starfighter mode being a close second.
I like the animal mode of Sixshot. I did notice the Japanese created ninja Night Bird (from the Original Transformer TV show "Enter the Night Bird") had helped Sixshot fake his own death. Timestamp 07:54 - 08:03. Did she become a transformer or just brought out of stasis to help in "killing" Sixshot?
@Starscream91 He's some guy who believes that we can have and do have sex. Cybertronian kids do exist, but none of them prove sexual reproduction for they could've been built.
@@Nothin2seehere-e4z Not just that either. It was the fact he wouldn't be told he was wrong by anyone. He'd take things out of context and act like he was this all-knowing well of information.
@@TheSkyatollah did you stop to think that some fans might actually agree with him, because if the cybertronians are supposed to be an alien race shouldn't be able to reproduce like any organic race would. because what's the point in having female Transformers if they can't reproduce like a organic race can. there's also the matter of the Techno organic Transformers wouldn't they have the ability of reproduction of an organic race since they are since there a mix of cybertronian and organic.
Such a fun toy, I remember the instruction booklet challenging you to transform it to as many as you could, I did maybe 2 but was worried about breaking it, so I opened it to read how to transform it. Had lots of fun with him.
Sixshot and Quickswitch are father and son in that Quickswitch was built using Sixshot's schematics with some alterations to it. Quickswitch is also a member of the Six clan.
I'm a HUGE fan of Sixshot and his six modes! The only figure I have of him, though, would happen to be the Leader Class Six Shot from the Titans Return line, and even that I enjoy! I suppose, if I had to pick which alternate mode I like most, it'd probably have to be the wolf mode - especially how, in the case of the Titans Return figure, the Titan Master Revolver cleverly plugs into the back of the wolf's head. Of course, I haven't tried it yet, but I'd certainly like to try and replicate that "Wingwolf" mode from that one Episode where he defeated Ultra Magnus. Y'know, just to challenge myself a bit (the other alternate mode transformations are difficult enough to memorise themselves). :)
Great video as always, as a person who has only seen the G1 TV show this series is a great help to me. I only have one request. When will we get Full-tilt?!
I had a friend Amanda, whose little brother had this toy. I borrowed it from him for awhile to figure out all the transformations. I could not remember the character from the show or his name. Thanks to this video now I know lol
It’s kinda messed up how energon sixshots story arc and death was all because snowcat’s an idiot and misinformed him on who was responsible for shockblasts death. He never even learned the truth
Got Sixshot for Christmas in '87 and was disappointed by the utter lack of articulation in robot mode. He looked good, but couldn't do much. Also, I think his concussion blasters were intended to go inside his legs (there are peg holes there) in gun mode, not on the outside, like in tank mode. It certainly looks better in the former configuration.
I always wondered about this guy and I thought he was pretty cool😎 and I stand corrected thanks for explaining him you best transformers explainer😄😎😊👍🏻!!!
I loved the toy as a child - till a nasty drop as a spaceship in my kitchen broke him : ( - and I love his Titans Return update. Hard to pick a favourite alt mode, most of them are awesome! And the "submarine" mode on the Titans Return figure is still the laser gun mode, you've just gotta turn it upside down

Awesome
Sixshot: My armour is indestructible
Optimus: (punches him so hard he cracks his armour)
Sixshot: (surprised Pikachu face) *NANI?!*
Obscured by the dull surprise-inducing faceplate instead
Stampy should be kitbashed into Pikachu!
I like the Tank mode, but my favourite mode is the Winged Wolf mode!
The secret mode that desparked Ultra Magnus (the latter hadn't his hammer yet)
I also like winged wolf mode, because wolves are cool, and beast modes are cooler than vechicle modes, and it looks like matalgarurumon
This was the first character who shot up on my favorite list once I started digging deeper into the G1 canon, before that I already liked Soundwave and Shockwave from other media like the Cybertron video games.
Also, you forgot to mention that in some weird Japanese canon, he owns the Matrix of Evil.
Don’t worry, everyone forgets the Matrix of Evil
I'm to young to have a child but when I do I hope they will inherit my love for transformers
What about the RID megatron?
@@wdsproductions8077 same bro
my mom doesn't care about cartoon story i am interested like transformes..now im 44 years old
Given the fact that his name has a Wild West connotation, "sixshooter" being the nickname of pistols in holsters, it's no surprise that Neil Ross voiced Sixshot's one line in the G1 cartoon with that accent.
I didn't even know about him that much until this video show up
The powerful, scary villain turned antihero is a trope that I genuinely love :)
The basics on octane or barricade octane is one of my favorite transformers
Last OG Transformer I got, well after I had quit playing with them. Still have him, he was one of the best of my OG toys. Much more durable than earlier toys without the hokie looks of later toys. He still holds up today. Other than the expensive collectibles, Six Shot looks as good as any new transformer.
@Chris McFeely: Great Job on the Sixshot video, man! I absolutely LOVE Sixshot! He's probably the one of my favorite Transformers next to Soundwave! Also, my favorite modes that Sixshot turns into would probably have to be his winged-wolf mode!
Energon SixShot is the only incarnation I knew about before watching this video. As for my favorite mode, I like the winged Wolf mode.
I hope that whoever came up with his idea got a MAJOR raise.
Ok so here's my theory. Nitro Zeus is the Bayverse version of Energon Sixshot, hence why he was so angered by the death of Shockwave.
he was angered by shockwaves demise? that movie was so boring i barely remember the plot
@@zach2712 he was a litteral fanboy if I remember correctly.
Lowkey
@@sonerec725 fanboyism is a common thing in Transformers, if you think about it
I always consider Bayverse Nitro Zeus as Lugnut
I wish they had used him like that in the US comics at least, preferably the final 3 episodes of the show too
It's amusing how Sixshot's biggest scalps in the cartoon all came against unarmed opponents
My favourite of Sixshot's modes is the tank, because it looks like a scorpion. The spikes on the front wheels when turned sideways look like claws, and the turret arcs overhead like a scorpion's tail...
My favorite Sixshot alt form is probably the wolf, although the space jet is pretty good for traversal purposes.
Frankly I'm surprised Hasbro hasn't done more robots with five alternate modes. That's some play value right there.
It’s amazing when they somehow manage to make it look like a robot is wearing a swimsuit like at 9:06
Had an idea for a character based on Sixshot ages ago: Basically, they used the various alt modes as a means of being an ambassador figure to each cybertronian caste.
Love his Titan figure. Got to say I love his jet/star fighter mode. He will also be Transformers greatest ninja.
Plus, the toy can fully transform without removing the head.
@@twistedgaming9185 the Wolf Mode
I just watched Victory again a few weeks ago and unless I fell asleep while watching it and had a wild dream I could have swore they went over him becoming an Autobot.
The HeadMaster Six Shot toys can transform extra 2 forms, submarine or ship boat & base mode.
Sixshot- Dead lock
Greattshot - Drift
Huh.
His submarine mode is the best thing ever happened to the toy line XD
I had the old G1 toy when I was little, and picked up the MMC Terminus Hexatron figure a few years ago. Regardless of version, the tank has always been my favourite, with the starfighter mode being a close second.
Another great video, can't wait for the next one. I never really thought much about Six Shot when he first came out, as I never knew much about him
I like the animal mode of Sixshot.
I've got some plans for Nightbird, so you'll learn her story in the coming months! :)
"Don't ask me how that works!"
Oh God, that gave me flashbacks to back when Tramp was active in the fandom.
@Starscream91
He's some guy who believes that we can have and do have sex. Cybertronian kids do exist, but none of them prove sexual reproduction for they could've been built.
He could've came through nonsexual methods.
Here's Hot Rod .......Oh 😶
2:16 It is the best SHOT in the show!
got him new on my 9th bday. still have him and the original packaging ;)
Such a fun toy, I remember the instruction booklet challenging you to transform it to as many as you could, I did maybe 2 but was worried about breaking it, so I opened it to read how to transform it. Had lots of fun with him.
I would like to see a story line on how he got his forms
Have to say, wasn’t expecting to see Sixshot in “a bold new era” so soon.
Sixshot and Quickswitch are father and son in that Quickswitch was built using Sixshot's schematics with some alterations to it. Quickswitch is also a member of the Six clan.
I wish Sixshot I would appear in an animated cartoon or live action film. But no media would prefer re-using Bumblebee for the hundredth time!
I wasn't that much of a fan of six shot but after hearing his redemption story, he's really growing on me.
I remember having this Transformer sixshot toy back in 1987. I didn't know who he was but I do remember this kind of mint and purple color scheme.
A character with a lot of potential, but rarely seen. At least the rebooted comic gives him a chance to shine.
I love the wolf form and that was one of the Transformers I wanted as a child but could never find.
I always wondered about this guy and I thought he was pretty cool😎 and I stand corrected thanks for explaining him you best transformers explainer😄😎😊👍🏻!!!
I loved everything about Sixshot as a kid: the most forms, the ninja look (S1 and S2 went by me, so I started with S3 and Headmasters)
7:34 man they wanted PTSD for headmasters fans and viewers
I loved the toy as a child - till a nasty drop as a spaceship in my kitchen broke him : ( - and I love his Titans Return update. Hard to pick a favourite alt mode, most of them are awesome! And the "submarine" mode on the Titans Return figure is still the laser gun mode, you've just gotta turn it upside down
His catch-phrase should be "Sixshot's the name, transformation's my game"
Loved Sixshot, best Transformers toy I had.
That’s so cool that his story got retconned to match the old fan theory...
"We keep losing to the autobots! we need...a ninja consultant!"
Really kicking myself after watching this because earlier today I had passed by a new hobby shop that opened in my earlier today...and one of the items they had was that Legends Exclusive Greatshot. Hoping next time I visit it'll still be there.
Very cool and the toy be it G1 or Titans Return is AWESOME (I have both now in my collection). Time to add Greatshot....difficult but not impossible.
Six-shot is my favorite Transformer of all I fell in love with the character when I first saw his introduction commercial
The Japanese version of the Transformers really did six-shot Justice it made him one of the main characters and a true warrior
Great video and must Respect
Six shot is so cool that he has six modes.
He has six guns.
He had six girlfirends.
He knows the time table of Six.
He destroyed six planets.
He can clone himself six times.
So he had a lot of adeventures.
Cyclonus learned how to count to six because of Six shot.
One time six combiners shot him, but he was six times more powerful than them.
He had a race with the time that powered himself six times, but Six shot was six times faster and the time is still running.
Six shot could beat everyone six times better than anyone, he is cool.
Super powered Decepticons rarely get any love or respect mainly because Writers don't know how to utilize them properly. Con's like Sixshot should be ripping the average Autobot (Bumblebee and even Ironhide) to shreds.
Sixshot was so dope af yo! He was awesome in tha Transformers Headmasters cartoon!😎🔥
