He was not a part of the US Marvel Comics until the release of his Action Master toy.
No one is spared from the Cosmically-Empowered Starscream. They just weren't taken out in the first run.
You really gotta love how the fire truck and fire ant Infernos are complete opposites of each other. One being a heroic fireman/bot, and the other being an evil psychopath.
BW Inferno also had some awesome lines. My favorite being "I don't rock and roll... I burn."

I’m glad I don’t ever have to see him in person! First of all, I HATE ants because they are always getting in my house! Whenever I see a bunch of them, I have to squish them! Also when I was 7 I had a really bad nightmare about ant people (think, giant bright red ants the size of taller than average humans, that walk on t2 of their six legs, with huge yellow eyes with pupils that are just dots, that when they walk, you hear BOOM BOOM and the ground shakes, and when they snap their fingers, all of the people around are suddenly down on the ground as if they’re worshipping something, and they’re like that for a few seconds before they get up, and when they do they have been turned into any people and the people who didn’t change, they carry them off, holding them by their hands dangling off the ground with your arms and legs in a certain position like an X)! It was so horrible I woke up shivering and had to wake up my dad! I know it doesn’t sound that scary now, but back then, and when I was having the dream, OH BOY was it terrifying! I’m not afraid of ants though, but seeing a giant red ant like Inferno up close would be VERY unsettling! 😖 I had LOTS of nightmares when I was 7 for some reason! I still remember some quite well! I’ve even given the worst ones names! For some reason, idk why. Two of them I woke up shivering! The first one was The Attack of the Ant People and the second was Purple Glowing Vampires! Don’t ask about the vampires that dream was very weird. Well, actually, they all were! One involved some creep flushing a bunch of kids down a toilet! I have no idea where that came from!
I do like his character, I just wouldn’t want to go anywhere near him or a statue or robot of him or something in real life if I had the chance!😄

Remember, Beast Wars Inferno was originally a Maximal protoform who was reprogrammed into a Predicon by Tarantulus. For all we know, he may have also been the original Inferno as well; his personality radically altered by the combination of the Predicon shell program, and the damaged logic circuits.
True. And i figure he would have been like his peers. A formidable heroic warrior with a more friendly autobot and maximal like face.

I know some people will disagree, but I think Predacon Inferno is much more iconic than G1 Inferno.
He has a much flashier personality and an unique mold, not to mention that said mold is full of personality with the iconic "Iron Mask" face and the ant legs on the sides.
I'm no fan of Inferno, and I don't even hold BW as my favourite cartoon (I didn't even grew with it, that would be Armada), but BW Inferno is in my eyes the true holder of the Inferno name.

Him and rampage from bw ,those were my favourites. I had bw gorilla transmetal prime. Best collectible TFs I had was Armada Unicron,g2 Scorponok.and RID fortess Maximus. Also had Rid Omega supreme. And masterpiece prime. 5 biggest TFs made. I missed out on biggest starscream toy though.

My introduction to the character was Energon, but I never got really into the series (and we all know why...). The Beast Wars incarnation is easily my favorite.

I also remember the fact that Megatron literally threatened to kill Inferno in order to make him stop, after which he switched to "Royalty".
Beast wars Megatron had a weird, yet likable personality. There was tons of things to laugh at in that series.
In another episode Dinobot defeats Quickstrike in a duel. Afterwards:
Megatron: Inferno, aid Quickstrike.
Inferno: At once, my queen.
Dinobot: I was unaware you’d given yourself a new title
Megatron: Uh, the ant has some faulty programming.

The more I hear about the characters and stories that would have appeared in Transformers: Animated, the more I REALLY want them to go back and continue with a Fourth Season. There were still quite a few loose ends that could have used some addressing.
Inferno's heroic sacrifice in the Unicron saga will always cement him as one of the all time great G1 Autobots. He always did want to go out in a blaze of glory, and by Primus, he did.

Actually, in Botcon 2016 comic, Dawn of Predacus, the fire engine Inferno was severely injured and put into a stasis pod, which become one of the cargos on Axalon. that indicates the the giant ant was actually reprogrammed from the G1 character

Sorry, but that fire starting, fire ant will always be number one in my heart and mind.
Energon Inferno was my introduction to him and I loved Roadblock’s design, that toy was my absolute favorite from that toy line.
Was kind of hoping this would mention the Wal-Mart Cheap Korean Anime DVD that had Inferno as some super robot mazinger esq fighting aliens.
That is from 1984 and is called "Defenders of Space" and also called "Phoenix King". There are illegal uploads of it on RUclips if you do a search.
I watched that a few months ago. And that was just awful. That was the reason why I clicked onto this video, to see if Chris made a light reference to it.
I always saw BW Inferno as being the same character as G1 Inferno. Having survived into the future he was a protoform on the Axalon, but the Predacon shell program and the glitch making him think he was an ant caused a severe personality change.

Man, that clip of Inferno being reprogrammed by Megatron in TF: Energon really just drives home how amazing Energon could've been if it stuck with that 2d cel shaded animation the whole way through instead of that boxy CG look.
*Fun Random Trivia:* in 1984 there was a korean animated movie called "Defenders of Space" aka "Phoenix King" which used Inferno as the titular robots. Like most Joseph Lai animations it's really cheesy and not-that-good (I'm saying so because it's actually one of the better JL films) and I absolutely love it X3>
In my headcanon this was the result of "Hoist goes Hollywoon" where they chose Inferno instead. This is also why Inferno for me has always been the 3rd autobot to come to mind (After Optimus and Bumblebee).
Also I did show up in the US comic in the Christmas mini-story where he, Sandstorm and Bradside unintentionally clashed with Getaway and the other Powermasters, though I don't remember if it was after or before alt universe storyline.

I just found Defenders of Space on a website and was like "Heeeeyyyyyyyy... that's Inferno!" That's why Inferno was late getting to Earth and did not show up until season 2. He was moonlighting in a Korean cartoon. lol

Loved inferno in beast wars especially calling megatron his queen all the time. Because he was so loyal to megs i think that may be the reason they killed off scorponok. He was also loyal to megatron but i guess inferno was more enjoyable as a character.

I really like inferno from energon. His tragic forced decpticon reprograming was an intresting character arc. It also hit me hard as i watched it last year where someone not being able to control themselves was tragically relatable.

Er, dosen’t That 2008 movie Inferno seem more reminiscent of “Energon” Red Alert?
Actually that was a repaint of Transformers Armada's Red Alert. Said character also reappeared in the 3rd story arc from the "Unicron Trilogy" called Transformers Cybertron. The "Cybertron" series is also called "Galaxy Force" in Japan and several other countries.
It's true! The G1 Autobot firetruck version is great an' all, but all I ever think about is that awesome, psychotic, sycophantic Predacon ant whenever I hear the name "Inferno." I just love him to bits, personally. ^_^ lol
Was so happy to see this episode in my sub box, energon inferno was the first toy I ever actively looked for beyond just saying I wanted to get a transformer when we were at the store as a kid because I really liked him in what little of the show I'd seen, it's also one of only 3 toys that survived my childhood and is still a part of my adult collection. That version and any other one that turns into a firetruck hold a very special place in my heart.

Great video Inferno along with Terrosore was one of my favorite Predacons. My thoughts as to why his figure didn't sell well was even though he was a season one character he didn't come in until much later that year vs all the other tou figures which were there from the start, it's easy to sell a figure if he is on tv vs not. But and sadly given Megatrons crazed uncaring nature I don't that friendly fire was accidental both Inferno and Quickstrike were destroyed for good.
Predacon Inferno IS inferno in my opinion.
The G1 is respectively good in his own way but predacon inferno just fits his own namesake. Crazy, insane, loyal to the extreme, not afraid, loves to burn anything to ash. He is inferno and always will be to me.

Till the announcement for this episode I had no awareness of G1 Inferno, only knew about Energon and BW so this was real interesting.

BW Inferno is not only my favourite BW transformer, but he is arguably my favourite transformer of all, alongside Starscream. I still have his big original BW toy to this day on display along with some other bots and figures. It may not have sold well, but I sure as heck pestered my parents for it nonstop until I got it. lol

Technically speaking, since the Beast Wars Inferno was a Maximal Protoform that was reprogramed as a Predacon before coming online, it’s possible that he’s a direct descendant of the original Autobot Inferno.

My favorite inferno is the Energon / Superlink one. He is a great Character! As for the first fire truck, he is cool, but he had not as much character development, the ant is cool, but he got killed too quick in my opinion.

In Italy Beast Wars was called "Biocombat" and most characters had their names changed to reflect their beast modes, for example Rampage was name Granchior (granchio=Crab) and Airazor was named Lady Falcon (Falco=hawk).
First time I saw Inferno was in the infamous "Space Thundere Kids".

G1 Inferno is the best One (Grapple is also cool). To be honest I always hated that Beast Wars Inferno...Ok that´s no surprise because I don´t like Beast Wars in general.
Personally, as a G-1 kid I actually liked ALL forms of Inferno, however as I recall, the Beast Wars Inferno had a Maximal spark that was corrupted/damaged during reentry & his pod intercepted by the Predacons..

I still have awful childhood memories of Inferno. He was a real rarity where I lived. Everyone wanted him & only one kid in my school had one. Until he bought it in one day to show it off, then Sister Catherine confiscated it until the end of term. It went missing, obviously. He was never the same kid after that.

Like every other character name used at random due to trademark reasons, the Inferno from the Beast Wars series was the first one I ever knew of. So I was thrown out of whack when the name was given to an Autobot fire engine in Transformers Energon. But after the first live action movie motivated me to learn more about G1, that’s when I discovered that Inferno was an Autobot name from the start.

Knew about the G1 version, however my personal favorite is the Beast Wars version, simply because he was that memorable to me. Kudos for getting in one of my three favorite lines from him into this video.

Energon Inferno is one of my favorite characters and toys from that series.
My knly problem with the toy is that the head keeps falling off.
I like to imagine the Cybertronion being born with others of the same name, it helps fix any continuity errors. I kinda like to imagine G1 characters and Beast Wars on Cybertron together.
And now within a span of just 2 years we got both a cartoon accurate g1 inferno at mass retail and the first new beast wars inferno toy since the original beast wars line

It would be nice to see Inferno included in the War for Cybertron Seige toy line. His G1 toy seems to have alot of potential for the lines theme. Can't wait for the next video, great work as always :D
