Yes Chris if your reading this do it
Solomon

Yup

The Soundwave vs Blaster rivalry should have become more prominent and explored more. He was a perfect counterpart to the Decepticons communication officer.
I really think they should have added him to transformers prime so they could go in-depth with his connection to soundwave
It's genuinely such a wasted potential especially in transformers prime it would've been so badass if both them fought in the pits of kaeon
I loved G1 Blaster and how he made Optimus mad like a young teen to his dad
He got along with Jazz surprisingly well, having a similar taste in music. Guess that helps identify a cybertronian's age, heh.
1:42 look at Everyone
Then look at Jazz
i imagine blaster versing his shattered glass version
"Blaster! Turn it down!" Literally a second later: "Blaster ... shut up!!"
@@MegaJessness That still makes me laugh yo!
I love everyone in pain from Blaster’s music, and Jazz just breaking it down sexual style. Truly a man goated with the sauce.
He really should have done more with Jazz. The two if them are both into rock music, and are both just really cool. Look at Jazz dancing to Blaster's music, they should be great friends! He was also voiced by Buster Jones, who also played Winston Zeddemore in the later series of The Real Ghostbusters. He deserves a good toy, that isn't a Soundwave redeco or a VEHICLE...
Funny thing: one of the two Blaster figures that's a Soundwave repaint & remold...Blaster totally takes over and OWNED the mold: Fall of Cybertron.
The Transformers Cybertron (or Universe) Blaster sucked as it was a straight repaint of Soundwave. Titans Return Blaster was okay, but it's not a repaint of Soundwave (Soundwave was a repaint & minor retool of Blaster in this case). On the downside, if they do a new Blaster in the new War for Cybertron Trilogy line, that's very likely to be a Soundwave retool...
Why is a Generations Deluxe Blaster that turns into a Boom Box so much to ask for?
2 years later we have one!! :))
FINALLY! SOMEONE AGREEEEEES! Like, not once did anyone pair up Jazz and Blaster as music buddies like, AT ALL?!
@@Samuel_Loegan not all potential ideas get used possibly due to others not really giving a damn, unfortunately.
I never knew the original toy was a working radio! That's pretty cool!
It does explain why his G1 toy was so freaking massive compared to most other Transformers. I always wondered that as a kid.
@@Penningtontj True. I always wondered that myself, especially compared to Soundwaves toy
That weird hole in his gun was originally used to hold an earphone or something, too.
Imagine how much he would go for now .

Blaster, blasting away at our hearts since 1985, what a legacy. :D
I love blaster because of his helmet and his personality!
Action Master Blaster.
I like the way that sounds.
Maybe 'cause it rhymes? :)
It sounds like a name he'd give himself.
So did Hasbro. They also used the name "Action Master Blasters" for the small size Action Master vehicles, despite the potential for confusion with the Action Master figure of Blaster.
Stevie wonders favourite transformer
WHO RUN CYBERTRON?!
Soundwave: Soundwave superior, autobots inferior
Blaster: It's rewind time!
"Billy are you alright?"
"Not really. Find the Power Pack. Rescue Optimus Prime! Go!"
-Blaster's final words, The Headmasters (Omni Productions dub)
Oddly some of the best lines from that season in any translation.
*_b i l l y_*
Nicholas Hermes I got duped. I bought what I thought was the English dub of that series. Turned out to be the Japanese audio although the website said English audio and English subtitles 😡
“Billy, prepare for your death today, you’re gonna die.”
For reference, the Power Pack is the Matrix of Leadership
The fight between Blaster's and Soundwave's cassettes in the movie was one of the coolest things that unfortunately was too short. I had always hoped there would be a rematch.
Good ol' Billy. Wish we got to see more of him in IDW. He needs more appearences in modern media in general.
With an alt mode as outdated as Soundwave's, I doubt it. What alt mode would you want to see Blaster as? (except the van, since Soundwave has it)
@@twistedgaming9185 I think the laptop mode that the Device Label figure had worked quite well. Maybe one of those audio recorder things they use to record interviews?
If i had to choose an actual vehicle mode he could transform into a communications truck that the police uses or one of those Japanese-styled pimped vans with loads of speakers in them.
Ah, Someone else who remembers the Billy dub
@@RealCandleJack yep I remember the Billy dub all too well.
Maybe Hasbro feels that, because of Soundwave, they have no need to promote Blaster as well. Which is a damn shame because Blaster needs recognition too dangnabit.
Considering how many times "taken offline by a cosmically powered Starscream" has come up, I'm surprised there has been no basics on Starscream. It's not like people are even given a chance to forget
Let's hope Cyberverse gives us more of that hip Blaster!
He's just a bootleg Soundwave.
@@cooler1679 Even more so by the fact that Blaster seems to be the go-to retool of any modern Soundwave toy, which started in 2008 (only for Titans Return to reverse it). Since Siege Soundwave is out, I bet Hasbro will retool it and release it later on. :P
@@twistedgaming9185
Like I sead. BOOT! LEG!
Thats is great idea
WHAT?
“Blaster, decrease volume!
Blaster, SHUT UP!” - Optimus Prime
Blaster and Jazz . . . the Gangsta Autobots :D
also, here's an unconventional idea for The Basics: episodes featuring the voice actors (Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, etc) and the various characters they did.
Wouldn't mind seeing the basics on THUNDERCRACKER
The only Blaster I've ever known was in the G1 series, and honestly I'm ok with that
G1 all the way for me
Props to Blaster in appearing in the new Chip'n'Dale Rescue Rangers movie👏👏
This was the episode I sponsored! I'll drop some nostalgia and why Blaster as aces in my book.
So, in the mid-80s, I was big into comics. I had older brothers who worked at a toy store and got the Nintendo on their own collective income, but for me, it was comics because my parents were divorced and getting lots of Nintendo games or a whole lot of toys weren't as easy as getting a whole lot of comics at the drug store or the very few comic shops in Indianapolis. By the time I was really into comics, and could walk to the local drugstore on my own, Transformers were the king of after school TV. So when I saw Marvel had done a Transformers series, oh, man I was in! Shortly after getting into them, Optimus Prime sacrificed himself and it left the leader role vacant. I loved dinosaurs too, so Grimlock was another of my favorite characters. However, it was when Blaster bucked his leadership, and took off with Goldbug, THAT was when I realized this guy was too cool for school. There was no going back for me. Blaster was without a doubt my favorite Transformer and scrambled to get all the issues with him that I had missed previously. I loved his origin story and the heartbreak of losing his best friend and leading many of the other 1985 characters which I did own (particularly the mini bots like Cosmos, Powerglide, Seaspray, Warpath, and Beachcomber). He's never dropped from that #1 spot and never will.
I've been on a big Transformers Nostalgia trip over the past few months and finding Chris' channel has been a complete joy. Thanks again, Chris, for a great episode, and it brings me such joy seeing all these great comments of people who also love my favorite Autobot! So I'll close with a quote from Blaster's first appearance in Transformers #17 - ""EAT HOT SLAG, DECEPTICONS!"
Cool choice man. Blaster was always a lot of fun in the G1 cartoon (the only Transformers media I knew as a kid.) But I know that thing of losing yourself in comics. My parents divorced when I was a kid and I had already discovered the Sonic the Hedgehog comics by then. Then the cartoon premiered the same weekend I moved to a new town. So I threw myself into that fantasy instead.
"What does Impactor turn into?"
"Who cares, he's dead."
It's a tank by the way.
@@TheSmart-CasualGamer I know.
@@Its_Charlie_Young Sorry, man. Just checking.
“No way! Two can play!”
I wish I could remember what that would have felt like watching that for the first time.
Hey, whats shaken..other then this fortress?
Look out and shout ow!
Sick em!
In the movie both Eject and Rewind switch colour schemes upon ejection as well as the appearance of two Ejects in the cassette battle. Rumble and Frenzy also briefly switch colours upon their ejection as well
that side story of Blaster in the 1986 movies sounded awesome, it would of been a Predator type crew with a funny heavy, quick wit and silent soldier. that would of been great 😍
It,at least, would have explained why he wasn't in the rest of the movie.
Agreed. He did sound and that's because, Blaster and Jazz voice actors was black.
1:44 of course Jazz is the only one to love it
LOVE BLASTER!!!! he needs to be used more in the IDW comics!!! Blaster and Soundwave were always my faves!!! Great stuff as always Chris!
He recently appeared in Rescue bots academy as Hot shots pal in the first episode.
"I'm too young a dude to die!"
- Blaster, Cosmic Rust
Cosmically Empowered Starscream: :)
I like that the IDW iteration combined his original animated persona and Marvel persona into one.
I also love the idea of him Blaster being a wartime radio personality.
Blaster's voice acting comforts me, probably because of nostalgia. Great decision on the actor's part.
In the dub of headmasters blasters name was Billy and when he was resurrected he became blaster instead of twincast.
Remember when it was so easy to transform the figures? No tabs!
LOL @ Jazz gettin’ down @ 1:45
"Hey Perceptor What's Shakin' Other than this fortress?"
Why do I still remember that line like the back of my head?
Nine_Tails137 probably because like most of us you saw the movie so many times that it has it own place inside the back of your brain.
@@INFERNO95 That was one of those questions that didn't need an answer. But thanks for answering regardless. :D
I think it's interesting how both Blaster and Soundwave after discontinuation got upgraded 2 cassette carrying toys with their colours switched
One of the only G1 figures I had that survived to my adulthood. I loved him in the 86 movie too! Here's to hoping he settles that score with Soundwave again some day. Thanks for another great video!
Fun Fact: In his commercial debut, Blaster was voiced by Frank Welker, who also voiced Soundwave and Rumble.
And Megatron
Soundwave is my all time favorite Transformer. So for me Blaster is Soundwave's quintessential nemesis.
It’s so funny in the scene where Blaster is jamming every Autobot is covering their ears while Jazz was just jamming out! 😂😂
Such an Iconic Character. I wish he appears more in this new series to come.
Is anyone else here from Blaster's cameo in Chip'nDale Rescue Rangers? I mean, The Basics is the only reason I recognized Blaster in the first place.
I haven't seen the movie but he's not hard to miss
When I saw TF the movie in the theater, I remember the scene when Blaster first launched his new cassette warriors the audience started cheering, at the time, like it was Avengers Infinity War.
It made sense that Blaster and Soundwave were 2 opposites in character in the cartoon.
G1 cartoon Blaster is my favorite itteration!
Headmaster soundwave: *Exists*
Headmaster blaster: *Hippity hoppity ur right arm is no longer ur property*
You know, in an early Headmasters episode, Daniel Witwicky, Wheelie along with Blaster's buds, Ramhorn and Steeljaw, didn't accept the transformation into Twincast at first. The bot only ended up proving that, though he may not look like him, he still has the same Blaster spark, and it's what's on the inside that counts more.
I love the fact that Blaster has to do the splits to transform
that last image with both bots DJ battling has always been a favorite 😍
One of my favorite Autobots, along with Moonracer and Perceptor. He deserves more prominence. I prefer the more upbeat version, but the grim warrior has been memorable.
1:42 Autobots: STOP THIS BLASTER!
Jazz: YEAH! Let it Rock, my Mech!
Growing up as a young Black kid and watching G1 Transformers, I and others were super elated about Blaster and Jazz. They both exhibited characteristics and mannerisms akin to Blacks, and little did we know, they were indeed voiced by Black men. What an excellent way for Hasbro and company to incorporate diversity into the cartoon all those years ago. Will always love the "hip and cool" Blaster. Side note, Panthro from Thundercats had the same effect.
Since I used to watch Scatman Crothers on TV as a child, I recognized him as Jazz immediately. I knew Buster Jones' voice from when he was Black Vulcan on the Super Friends. The 3rd Black voice on G1 Transformers was Arthur Burghardt aka Devastator.
@geechie-don7157 Great comment 👏🏾 with factual same vibes. Can you you imagine seeing Blaster in live action films?
Hold on, I just noticed something crazy! One of the vehicle modes given to Blaster is a recolor of the Transformers: Cybertron Soundwave figure. Talk about close connections.
Remembering the 86 movie...the 2 moments that kids reacted happily to: Hot Rod's transformation into Rodimus Prime and when Blaster unleashed his cassettes.
"taken offline by a cosmic powered starscream" is basically just this guys version of "SWIVEL HERE"
Hey, Blaster, drop that sick beat while I hit that like button! ^_^
Original series persona but Spotlight Blaster was great! I hope to see him as an Autobot Propaganda Officer again!
I always loved the blue of the Microchange version. I wish he got more prominence again.

Which is why Loudpedal's Sound Warrior is in the colors of the Microchange version.

*Jazz vibing while the other Autobots are protecting their ears*
Hasbro planned to release a DOTM Blaster figure which would’ve been a repaint and retool of the cancelled Soundwave figure but the toy line wasn’t doing too well so the figure never ended up being released. You can however find images of the figures on the internet and while the colors don’t suit the car, the robot mode looks really good though, especially the head design.
Anybody else have a weakness for Rock and Roll like Blaster?
I do!
Hell yeah
Hell, we all do.
I think all sound wave and blaster toys going forward should be bases formers like in titan's return. I think it's ideal for getting around their data mod and works wonders with the evergreen mini-cons.
Autobots: *exists*
Underbase Starscream: I’m about to end these bots’ whole careers
He killed most of the Decepticons too..
For me it's always the G1 version of Blaster. That DJ way he had of talking always made him feel like he was a lot of fun to be around. The scene where he is broadcasting the rock concert and everyone is acting like they are in pain except for Jazz was always a hilarious moment.
It might be cool to do a quick rundown of characters that survived the movie (and didn't dissapear) and what their new roles were.
OF COURSE, Jazz is the only one dancing to Blaster's beats.
He was my first Transformer and will always be a favorite.
The electronics weren't removed !!??
i DEFINITELY remember listening to radio on my old Blasters in the 80's.
maybe they released cheaper ones that were stripped later.. but in 86, it was a working feature.
G1 Blaster was one of the cool dudes, along with Jazz.
The titans return blaster figure is a huge part of my childhood 😢❤
I really do love the sound of the IDW Blaster mashup: keep the fun radio DJ personality of G1 while still giving him a sort of underground resistance role like early Marvel and the scrapped 1986 movie storyline.
At the risk of sounding uninformed, haven't seen any media involving Blaster and I have to admit I was a little unfairly biased against him. I sorta had this preconceived notion of Blaster as this pallet swap designed to sell unsold Soundwave toys and his personality was just a Jazz/Warpath mashup, but damn, this guy seems like a genuinely fun character! Thanks for bringing this guy to my attention, Mr. McFeely! (And thanks, Jeff, for sponsoring this one!)
Bit of a funny misconception to have, since Blaster's toy doesn't share anything with Soundwave's aside from the cassette gimmick. Like, it's twice as large and completely differently engineered.
I didn't know@@misterbadguy7325, I was young and naive and never looked at the pictures of the toys long and hard enough to realize they didn't have the same mold.
I played Angry Birds Transformers a lot when I was little(er), so every now and then I’ll think of that game and realize “OH! OH! I get that reference now!”
I feel like a really funny way to combine his two characterisations could be to characterize him as more of a grungy, nu metal type.
In the UK marvel comic, everything took place on earth until that point. Blaster was our pov character for the introduction of cybertron as a main story setting, and the story of the events surrounding Scrounge's death were the first real turning point in the overall feel of the whole run, from fun adventures on earth to a darker, wartime desperation theme for the resistance on decepticon occupied cybertron. One of the greatest and most memorable stories from the UK run of all time, in my opinion
This G1 Episode with Blaster & Tracks against Soundwave is one of my all-time favorite Transformers Episodes....and one of the Reasons why Tracks is one of my favorite Transformers.
Turn up the music and blast the speakers with the Autobot communication officer Blaster
Love the G1 blaster the most, because I can never get enough of his voice and characterization on screen.
I remember that blaster also came with the mini con sunder which is a autobot version of Lazerbeak
Comically enough, one of his cassette bots played a bigger role in the IDW line than blaster did. Rewind gets all the love :)
He was in Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers
Idk if he will update with that
I always liked Blaster and his cassette transformers. So cool! Stories are all over the place though.
His modern alt-mode should be a burnt-out toaster oven.
1:43 jazz is dancing, lol jazz will always be my favorite.
Thank you Chris for this specific video!! It was exactly what I wanted to see!!
Blaster was added in Angry Birds Transformers a couple years ago, also I did a fan art of Twincast
Another great BASICS video, well done sir. Ive been a fan of this show since the beginning and every video just keeps getting better and better. Looking forward to the next one. Id like to see a video on DUOCONS. Not sure if its a big topic but the lore behind them is really interesting.
The robot roll call in perfect time with the film at 2:37 is super-cool.
"Blaster" (whose name was shortened version of his "Ghetto Blaster" alt mode) from the U.S. cartoon...being killed in the Japanese-exclusive Headmasters cartoon and rebuilt and revived as "Twincast" missed out on one important tidbit of information: his name in Japan was "Broadcast".
Blaster was one of my favorite Transformers from Generation. He stood apart from the other Autobots with both his ability and his personality, though Jazz likewise stood out personality wise. I liked his Titan Master version, but its hard if not impossible to beat the original.
Really appreciate this stuff. There's something about Blaster that's SO classic, even though he was a bit of a latecomer in the original series.
I think we need an episode on the cassettes themselves, you know? Not only on more of the individual ones - like Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Rumble, Frenzy, the Autobot ones, & especially the two sets of two-bot combiners - but also on the concept of the cassettes themselves. Why such were created in the first place, as well as why Laserbeak was the only one to ever have a Cybertronian form. (Which I still say needs its own toy. They finally gave us Cybertronian Starscream, for example, which will undoubtedly lead - as it always does - to the rest of the Seekers getting one, after all.)
I agree. The cassette technology that Transformers used was fascinating. Not sure what they could use now but I'm sure they will think of something.
"GOOOOD MORNIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING CYBERTRON!"
Gotta love G1 Blaster from the original cartoons and The Transformers The Movie, my favourite incarnation by far, although I also enjoyed him as the freedom-fighter against Grimlock's tyrannical rule in the Marvel comics
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAnd we're back to "Taken offline by the Cosmically Empowered Starscream
"
Great day to have bought Legacy Blaster.
Blaster - gonna shake and roll with a touch of soul.
all the autobots at the ark - SHUT UP!
lol. best part of that episode. lol.
Hasbro really should have this guy more often in the franchise as one of the main characters in the group. I mean, Soundwave shows up in almost every series in the franchise.
I know this was from Patreon, but I've been asking for this one. Glad it happened finally.
It would appear that Jazz is the only Autobot immune to Blaster's musical powers...speaking of which, please could you do The Basics on Jazz at some point? I just got the Animated version in toy form last week and I think he deserves to be immortalised in your awesome work.
Of course I go with G1 list and description of sound blaster any day as for his cassettes I wish you had more more cassettes which he does but they never made it on the TV show just like soundwaves.
