I love the prime design, the high moon studio design from the games, and the one from the war for cybertron trilogy
Prime. Bulky, purple, massive cannon, red monoeye, David Sobolov's deep and menacing voice... this is the perfect Shockwave, hands-down.
For me it's Animated, but I'm bias towards the show.
Prime Shockwave being in the top tier is only... logical.

Shockwave's design is one of those looks where they struck gold from the original design that they didn't really need to give him a drastic redesign often, although in rare cases such as Transformers Animated the new design still looked great.
I think it says a lot about how good Shockwave's design is when only a single one of his (non-SG) incarnations deviates from the purple body and arm cannon, and that design eventually adopted the purple coloration. In the words of JobbytheHong "It's a design so good that not even Michael Bay could fuck it up!"
For the record, I actually do like Bayverse, I just love that joke.

Shockwave hasn’t interacted with a woman in so long he thought they were extinct. He really needs to get out more.
One thing I've always loved about Bayverse Shockwave is how his chest looks like a ribcage.

Prime Shockwave was not only extremely smart, he was ripped to boot. He was so smart in fact that when someone else finally displayed intelligence even CLOSE to equaling his, he was visually surprised and had to take a second to compose himself (when Ratchet was examining the unstable cybermatter in Synthesis). He didn't fuck around with monologues or personal feelings; he got results, and damn were those results ever impressive. It took Starscream of all characters to finally get him to show any emotion, and that was after Starscream left him for scrap against the Autobots in his secret lab ("I am tempted to force you to share my _perception_ of things.")

I think my favorite incarnations of Shockwave are his Cyberverse, Earthspark, Bumblebee Movie, Fall of Cybertron game, and G1. But if I had to choose one, I think it would have to be his Cyberverse incarnation, a perfect balance from his G1 incarnation with some parts borrowed from other media while adding something new at the same time.

@calmsquirrel7124 Well, his Prime design looks great, but it didn't really attract me either. Love his tank mode, love the performance David Sobolov has done, but it's just . . . I don't know, I just don't really feel it, I'm not saying I hate it, it's just not my favorite.
Shockwave is easily among the most iconic decepticons with Megatron,Starscream and Soundwave.
Him having the singular eye really sells the sociopathic personality when everyone else has a more human face and one of his hands being a weapon shows that he willing to resort to violence at a moment’s notice.
Tfp Shockwave is the best. His entrance was so badass
God I love Prime Shockwave so much, the fact he's a total unit with a cannon arm and a deep voice ? Mmm chef's kiss.

Prime Shockwave was by far his best incarnation.
By far the most imposing character of that series and with his personality, absolutely frightening.
Shockwave in that show was so good, he genuinely look like a second "Evil Mastermind" character.
I'd even go as far to say that he outclasses Megatron in that aspect.
I got to meet David Sobolov at NYCC last October and he was an awesome guy, he can switch right into the Shockwave voice like it's nothing.
DotM Shockwave, Transformers Prime Shockwave, and Fall of Cybertron Shockwave are my favorites. I especially love the Space Limo Jet that Fall of Cybertron has for his alt mode.
Shockwave is my favorite Transformer in general. He has such a clean look that can be translated in almost every medium, and one of my favorite tropes is the "loyal evil lieutenant." I just love how out of all of Megatron's minions, he's the only one that truly feels like his proper second-in-command.

@@LordCrate-du8zmSoundwave more like Megatron's eyes and ears, which still makes him important enough for Decepticons regime. I'm sure, Megatron appreciate both Soundwave and Shockwave in the same level.

The other just tolerates Megatron enough because he allows him to do his experiments, and defeating Megatron is too much of a bother.

He is definitely the only one who has the ways and sometimes, the reasons to try to kill him. Shockwave is no joke.
Shockwave in Earthspark is voiced by Troy Baker, who previously in Transformers voiced the main villain in RID 2015, Steeljaw. And you kinda hear the similarities.
He also voiced jazz in the wfc/foc games

Prime Shockwave is my favourite just for the giant cannon he sports being quite different from most other designs and the ammo belt into it is also unique. The rest of the tierlist is logical.

The Prime Shockwave design is easily my favorite i just love how menacing he looks in that series. Im also a big fan of his WFC/FOC, G1, Devestation and Animated design as well.

I personally like the bayverse shockwave. He may not look like him, but hes the most feared decepticon in that movie, not to mention he was large as hell.

Shockwave in my AU is consistently loyal to himself and his scientific endeavors alone. He only works with others if it advances his own goals. He made a deal that he would serve Megatron, so long as he can benefit from their partnership.
That is essentially him in Transformers Prime and i the IDW comics, he only tolerates Megatron because he allows him to experiment and to kill him would be such a bother.
Out of all the Decepticons, Shockwave is the one that could kill Megatron if he just wished to.
@@davisdf3064 My Shockwave couldn't kill Megatron. Not without a lot of time and resources he doesn't have. Plus, Soundwave would be a genuine problem. Not that he'd get the chance to anyway.
With Tfa Shockwave's grey and teal colour scheme it could work as his pre war colors with the idw senator design.
Shockwave the Goat
My favorite Shockwave design would be his Prime design. I prefer Shockwave having tank modes rather than aerial and blaster modes. Honorable mentions would include his Bumblebee movie, Cyberverse, and DotM designs. I like Wheeljack and Shockwave’s dynamic in Cyberverse before the war and during the Parley episode as they were both inventors and buds. Could you do a Blackarachnia designs ranking?
Always loved prime shockwave. Dark of the moon is great aswell but i really love that weird triple changer one. Shockwave as a anti aircraft gun is fun
To be honest, my personal favorites to transformers prime one, because it’s a cool character, and I find his presence to be intimidating and going with his voice actor too.

I personally find all of Shockwaves designs Badass! He and Tital Wave always reminded me of the Quake 2 or 4 Tank Units! However if he's gonna continue to have what sounds like a British Accent, then I would prefer a Cockney Style one instead.
I think my favorite Shockwave design is the TFP one followed closely by the Cyberverse one. The TFP one looks super intimidating but the Cyberverse one looks just awesome
Somehow, none of the designs from the fairly recent Transformers Go! Go! manga series was considered for Comodin Cam’s rankings. Sure, all of them are based on toys that released alongside it, but I think the cutesy stylization makes some of them distinct, like Bumblebee, Arcee, Shockwave, the Beast Wars cast, and many others. At the very least, they deserve a mention.

My favorite thing about Prime Shockwave is that he always stays in his Cybertronian form, even on Earth, which made him that more intimidating.

Honestly for me it’s the DOTM design or the Bumblebee one, love the broader frame of the DOTM with the thinner cannon. Agree with you on the purple for it, and the Bumblebee is just solid
I love how in the classic transformers series everyone is unhinged. TF is best when it doesn't take itself seriously.

I think, and this is just me, Shockwave in general almost always has a cool design so they are all good in general. Even the "bad" ones would be good for most figures, we as fans just have higher expectations for old One Eye. Energon is probably the weakest, but even that one isn't terrible, only the toy struggles with that static arm, and his rather nothing alt modes. Is it a satellite, or mobile artilley....sure, if you say so😅.

TFP in the highest tier? Most logical.
I can agree 100% with your list. But to me my top 3 favourites are the 1: Bumblebee movie cause it’s literally the G1 version in live action (minus the alt-mode), 2: the Cybertron video game cause it was a very retro design, and 3: 2010 Prime cause I grew up with the show and design.
Absolute favourites are Prime and HighMoon Shockwave
Bot modes and alt modes are just amazing for cybertronian forms
For those who don't know shockwave is like an evil spok from star trek so really I like it when shockwave sounds like he has no soul which a lot of versions did well

My favorite design gotta be Transformers Prime's one (with animated coming close second).
He just takes the stereotypical "skinny mad scientist" stereotype and throws it out of the window, by giving him the body of a Brute, but he still has the mind of a real mad genius.

Prime Shockwave is the perfect Shockwave for me. Intimidating design, but being a certified genius, with little to no emotion. It's brilliant. And his clear respect for ratchet in their interactions made it better. I'm glad they brought that back for him and wheeljack in cyberverse. My favorite trope has always been established enemies having moments of bonding as friends, it'll never last, but it's a nice show

You should do a tier list for the insecticons, I mean, you have to do each one separately, one for Bomshell, Kickback, and Shrapnel each, I think doing them all together would cause a problem, they should each have their own lists.
I remember being on a message board with the customizer Jin Saotome 7:06 He did good work, but was so full of himself.
Dark of the Moon Shockwave is by far the best imo. The intuitiveness and originality that Michael Bay put into Shockwave is just so epic and amazing. I also love how he somewhat stuck to the source material in giving Shockwave a massive canon and his iconic one eye.

TFG (2007 Bayverse game acronym) Shockwave is actually my favourite, i wonder if theyll make him in the gamer edition series toyline
Unrelated to the design, which is also great if not original in the slightest, I love Shockwave’s theme in Devastation. It sounds so triumphant and heroic, which fit his perspective of being Cybertron’s guardian even though in reality Shockwave is one of the most evil Decepticons.
