So this is the updated version with more designs added, expect more in the future, did you enjoy this one? I removed bad comedy reserved for Galvatron
Yes very cool
I really like how the editing has improved for this series, you really hit your groove and it shows
Do the rankings of Galvatron please
And updated the rankings of Optimus prime
Yes good edit. When these started I didn't realize how much time the drag and drop took. Also appreciate multiple angles of the design when available! Can't wait for the next
Prime was the only Transformers show I actually went out of my way to watch, because I genuinely liked it. Prime's iteration of Starscream is my favorite because of how expressive he is, and Steve Blum did a great job making him both menacing and comedic throughout the show. He had his funny moments, but he was still a great antagonist in his own right, in my opinion
Steve Blum nailed him. Not surprising either, considering how great of an actor he is.
Villains were best as always. Most complex characterizations and even flatly characterized were solid. Starscream was cowardly, but he also had moments of very real cunning and skill showing that he is definitely dangerous.
I didn't usually see him as menacing, but that's simply because I found it hard to take him seriously since he'd immediately crumble at the first slight glimpse from Megatron in Prime. But yeah, that version of Starscream was certainly one of the best!
@@TheLocalMothLord0.0 Who did not crumble at thought of angry Megatron?
@@kylestewart6282 STEVE BLUM VOICED PRIME STARSCREAM??
I think the reason why I like Starscream's movie design, is because it really compliments the character.
His torso being short and his knees always being bent makes it look like he has a hunchback, like Igor. Making him look more like a servant.
And his wide shoulders and long arms just make him look like a slimey backstabber
There's also the fact that the bent legs are reminiscent of a bird's - very fitting for the transformer whose alt mode is a flying machine. The torso also matches the F-22's wing profile nicely. Really the only thing i'm not so sure i like is the head
And this isn't really what the video covers per se but the sound design for movie starscream is REALLY good and compliments the visual design well
@@Luey_Luey I kinda think he has the head of an owl. He is a Dorito robo-birb, or as I like to call him, a robo-birbrito.
I always thought his design matched Starscream because he's a strong coward. The top half makes him look kinda beefy and strong, while he's one of fictions most well-known chickens, and they gave him literal chicken legs.
But michael bay starscream isn’t a backstabber he’s completely loyal . Unless you mean another?
@@MogusMasterSaikawa22 That Africa scene in the third movie would disagree with you
I don’t know how to describe my feelings for Dorito starscream.
On one hand: I really don’t like how far they strayed from the original design
But on the other hand: the bay design fits really well with the character that the filmmakers had in mind
Boo hoo how dare they change a character and not copy and paste them
Well, at least it was original, while 50% of the designs on this list are just modifications to G1 Starscream
@@A.Z.296 exactly I'm tied of seeing the same copy and pasted design that's why shows like animated and prime stand out more
All of the Bay designs were awful. Made it difficult to tell which character you were even looking at half the time when they were in robot mode with only Optimus, Megatron, and Bumblebee really standing out. While I do enjoy new takes on a character, I'd have rather had "copy and paste" models from G1 in this case because at least then I could tell who was who. (Actual personalities and competent writing would have helped, as well, but that is asking WAY too much of a Michael Bay movie.)
@@KamenRiderGumo so you can't tell the difference between optimus prime and bumblebee because they look very different
My personal favorite Starscream will always be Prime Starscream both in terms of personality and design. I have always felt like Prime Starscream is the definitive version of who Starcream is supposed to be and it applies to his design as well. I love how slim he looks as it really gives of the impression of him being an intelligent but backstabbing snake and really love how his wings tower above his head as it gives him an intimidating and almost regal look fitting for the Decepticon commander.
I am also a really huge fan of Starscreams WFC/FOC, Armada, Prime concept art, G1 and Animated designs as well.
Everyone in prime is just the best. It's probably up there for one of the best shows of all time imo. The designs, character personalities and arcs, everything is just peak fiction.
Fr tho, tfprime designs are top tier in my opinion
I couldn't disagree more. Before anything, Starscream is the leader of the Seekers, the second in command of the Decepticons, robots who think they'll get what they want through tyranny and violence. He's supposed to be one of the strongest at the core, and Prime Starscream is one of the weakest versions. Look at IDW version, which portraits his classic look but more modern, he backstabs, he fails, he's treacherous, but he's still strong, one of the strongest Decepticons. Starscream is basically the incarnation of Loki in the Transformers world, and look at Loki: he's a liar, a backstabber, he cheats on everyone, but he's still strong as hell. He doesn't need to be weak just because he backstabs everyone, actually he only backstabs those he can't face, but the ones who are inferior to him? He destroys them without tricks
I have a soft spot for Dorito Starscream especially from TF1.
Me too!
Hey I'm on the same boat too Dorito Starscream actually looks pretty damn cool I don't care if people hate that design or not I think that design is actually badass
It looked badass and actually intimidating
I will agree that he leaves a lot to be desired
Honestly, child me was like "STARSCREAM IS THE STAR SHAPE ONE YAY" cause I had a hard time telling them apart since 2007 movie was my first exposure 😂 appreciate dorito boi
I believe the Shatter Glass Starscream was meant to have Skyfires colours to make him distinct as the "hero" version of him. Though I think his original colours would still have worked if you went Red White and Blue, with blue just picking out detail.
Looks more like autobot Star Saber
Yeah I think a lot of the Shattered Glass characters are colored to their corresponding enemies/opposites (Jetfire and Starscream, Grimlock and Tripticon)
@@tylergonzales8946
The Animated Shattered Glass version is definitely a Star Saber homage.
@@seant1326 I thought that the Animated Shattered Glass version was a homage to Sky Garry.
@@justinbryan6249
Ah...
My bad.
The Prime version's claws were a solid touch. They evoked a Cylon Trooper and even proved their worth as a more subtle weapon that didn't require him to transform, truly the hands of a duplicitous backstabbing schemer.
Being honest here: Armada, Cybertron and Prime are my top three versions/models of Starscream!
The best version of Starscream to me is the Armada version. I admired how he selflessly sacrificed himself to get Galvatron & the Decepticon’s to join Force with Optimus Prime & the Autobots to defeat Unicron. A Heroic act like that showed me he changed from a Decepticon into a Autobot.
I agree
I always felt that he had denounced both sides in that moment. He had seen how things were on each side and decided that choosing a side was as pointless as the eternal war they had been fighting for thousands of years and his sacrifice was to try and drive that point home to both Optimus and Galvatron
While I've not watched Armada so I can't claim to be the most knowledgeable on the circumstances leading up to it, to me, that just doesn't feel like Starscream. I've never seen Starscream as the type of character to sacrifice himself for the good of the universe, he's a spineless coward who values himself above all else.
@@Mothbeanwatch it soon. It’s such a great spin on the character IMO
Yeah they gave him a personality. That was my first ever introduction to the transformers universe and I was very disappointed after seeing that he was just a coward in every other transformers series.
Armada Starscream didn't just out of the blue sacrificed himself, he had a full arc
Prime Starscream is great because of them “luxurious thighs”, but I really loved his look in RID2015. One of the legitimately badass looking versions of the character.
I love Prime Starscream because it really compliments how he's always been a more "brains behind the scenes" type badguy, reminds me of someone like Grima Wormtongue, in contrast to Megatron giant brute strength stature
For anyone who has read the Windblade comics, Starscream’s appearances in every panel were always so beautifully drawn but it got to the point where it was like “oh my gosh, are the artists actually putting in a lot of effort to make him look that hot?” Sheesh 😭😂
I personally agree and as a Bayverse fan I wished Starscream had the personality of starscream, because if you really think about it, he was just a suck up to Megatron, he wasn't ambitious, sneaky, cunning, manipulative or even betrayed Megatron. he never even intentionally betrayed Megs or shouted Megatron is dead I'm leading the decepticons now, and I'm talking about planning to get rid of Megatron, not just straight up bailed in the first movie.
I personally prefer him in the IDW Bayverse Comics since he has that betrayal/attempt at gaining leadership, he disappointed me in the films since he could've atleast betrayed/try to take leadership or take the Armada route with the lack of disrespect even since Megatron even hurt him & Starscream just took it "sorry my lord".
@@heckinsnek8724 exactly, he's basically the suck up Starscream from animated, they could have done him way better, but they just treat him like those stereotypical cartoon goons.
the transformers DS game, specifically decepticons version, is exactly what you're looking for, where movie starscream betrays everyone and almost kills megatron
I do love g1 Starscream design and always a backstabber, Armada Starscream who is a warrior to impress Megatron but in the end nothing was good enough, animated Starscream can post a threat even not afraid to take down Megatron multple times, and prime Starscream because he's funny.
I am truly loving these. Goes to show HOW MANY OF EVERY CHARACTER THERE ARE!
Too much
16:48 I absolutely adore Star's 'true form' (for those who want to read: 'Til All Are One' Vol 3. ch. #12). I wish this design was used more in further iterations. It's slick, the colors are nice to look at, and he's still a flyer! What I would give to see a mini issue with Blacksmiths helping him take on his true body after all was said and done for the IDW verse.
The thing about the Bayverse designs are that they’re more like if you took the phrase “Robots in Disguise” to its logical extreme. And the biggest part where this gets scary is when Starscream ambushes the Air Force, since they cannot tell which fighter is the enemy as Startscream is based on the same fighter jet.
Scream as an F-15 Eagle is just, yes in my opinion. The aircraft itself the role is air superiority so it does make sense he is that for his alt mode.
(Plz don't nuke me, this is just my opinion)
I'd say a MIG29 instead tbh
@@plzfixwolves955 MiG-29 is a good choice as well
You should’ve had the worst rank be “bad comedy”
The best Starscream should have:
1- The personality of Prime
2- The mix of Bee and IDW design
3- The minicon gimmick, because why not.
4- Windblade as rival for the after-war histories. Because I liked that part a lot.
And a coronation scene, because why not.
Here's my idea of the best design...
1. The personality of Armada and Cybertron combined. Sympathetic, but also starts out loyal to Megatron before growing disillusioned with his leadership and turning against him, even defeating him and taking control of the Decepticons. Also brave, and a skilled warrior.
2. The voice of either Michael Dobson or Sam Riegel. They both fit how I imagine the character to sound so well, though I love Steve Blum as well.
3. The design of the Bumblebee movie and Armada put together. G1 colors, shoulder-mounted Null Laser Cannons, arm-mounted missiles (like Prime Screamer), and the Wing Sword he had from Armada.
4. _Jetfire_ as a rival given their history from G1. Maybe even keep the backstory from the War for Cybertron game where Starscream, Thundercracker and Skywarp join the 'Cons in front of Jetfire.
And of course, a coronation scene, but it goes well because this Starscream is actually competent and brave.
@@lancecurry7538 Add political rivalry turning into a love-hate relationship with Windblade after the coronation, and I´m sold.
Personally I prefer the Armada personality
@@Vaffle_1231 More noble, I´ve heard?
@@danielmedela8725 Pretty much
Movie starscream's tattoos seem to indicate a sort of "cybertronian pride" mindset from starscream. IIRC he is the character who speaks the most cybertronian acros his 3 movies
I prefer the g1 design wings then the current evergreen one. The wings look so off for him.
I love transformers prime starscream because his wings reflected his mood, if he was happy, the wings were up, if he was worried, or about to get punched by megatron, they would be down
You posting an updated version on my birthday really makes my day (as a fellow Starsimp.)
I gotta say, I feel like the design at 16:51 feels more like a Shattered Glass version of him than the actual one does in my opinion, it just gives me that good vibe more if I saw this in IDW's Shattered Glass version.
Happy Birthday HeckinSnek!!
@@ComodinCam Thank you!
I rather like the Shattered Glass Starscream/Jetfire for its homage to their relationship in G1 et seq. I also enjoyed the IDW jokey use of multiple historical designs. Glad you found The War Within version; it’s mega-cool and my fave Tetrajet style.
PS: I’ve the Armada Seeker trio on permanent root mode display.
I really like the 'Till All Are One version, as the scene the form showed in had some emotional weight.
Spoilers:
Windblade was battling an enemy inside her mind that was trying to take over. Starscream decided to show up to help via a cortical psychic patch, but the enemy bore into his insecurities, reducing him to a spark in the mindscape. In this moment Windblade could see into Starscream's memories and saw that he was "cold constructed", meaning his spark was placed into a pre-made body, never taking its true form. Windblade saw that this was why Starscream was never comfortable with his form and kept changing appearances. Windblade took his spark and forged it into this "true form" in the mindscape, which gave Starscream the strength to resist and fight the enemy. Though Starscream in reality couldn't assume this form, Windblade later gave him a hologram projector showing the form as a gift, to remind him what he really is underneath.
My favorite Star Scream is actually the purple and pink one from Animated. Probably has a little bit to do with the style, but I just really like the color scheme they used for him. They seem to have kept the original color placement the same, but used this palette instead. And his other designs are good, but I think the colors used for those Star Screams made him look really similar to the autobots. However, this new color palette helps to separate him from the autobots more so than the primary colors. This is mostly because primary colors are more associated with heroes, while secondary colors are more associated with villains.
I love the Animated version, as well.
He was also voiced by Spongebob, so that was a bonus.
There's this one version of Starscream named Megascream in this comic where Optimus finished off Megatron in an AU of the movie. His robot form is so blocky and weird, but his Jet mode looked like it could belong with Cyclonus and Scourge. I saw you included the combined form, but I'm curious what your thoughts on the base mode are
I'd note Cybertron Starscream saw a Spiritual return of the "Coronation Starscream" look, coming with a Crown
Reminder: Starscream is in the TV Troupe list. As being the ambitious lacky that dreams of being better than his leader. Though when stepped up to by someone more powerful. They buckle under the pressure and beg for their life.
I had the cybertron star scream toy and loved it. It was massive, detailed, and entertaining watching someone transform it for the first time cause it was a freaking pinching hazard.
Animated and Prime is what I grew up with so always the Best!
His Armada design was amazing.
The "Machine Wars" Starscream is actually Terradive. I have the Terradive toy. His weapon is a Trident that I assume is also a cannon if you look at the design. The mold for the toy was used to the Dark of the Moon Space Case toy, making it the same except for the head.
I like these a lot better when you did these with someone else. I think it adds a lot to the dynamic a lot.
Animated starscream was my favourite, I feel like it perfectly encapsulated the essence of starscream, in his face, and body type.
I've never seen 3:24. That's very nice! For some reason, I like Starscream with the yellow/gold eyes. Is 14:41 the new design that's being released? Armada and Prime Starscream are my favorites!
Armada's design is the best, cartoon wise, but the Bumblebee design is just euphoric 😩👌
Surprise you liked transformers animated starcream color scheme...it always seem off to me,like the rest of the designs is great specially his cybertronian legs.anyway great list as always Comodin
Favorites : movieverse, animated, TFP, 2015 RID, WFC and FOC, evergreen/Cyberverse, Unicron Trilogy and G1
I like Dorito screamer too
The car design of Starscream is actually a Japanese concept car, called the "Mitsuoka Orochi".
The Studio Series 86 Coronation Starscream is currently fairly easy to find in stores, but if you don't have a War For Cybertron Siege or Earthrise 'Scream, you'll kick yourself if you don't grab one. It replicates the scene quite well--the biggest complaint collectors have is that it's more expensive than very similar versions.
my favorites are G1, Armada, ROTF and RID 2015
My fav is a tie betweeen Cybertron and Armada. I love the powerful look.
Loved this video dude!
The mesure of heroes comes from theirs enemies, so in my eyes, the Autobots never got to theirs full potential as heroes.
Starscream should be a top scientist, intelligent, cunning, resourcefull, but most versions failed misserably, leaving the good guys to win with no efforts.
Vilains usually are more complex and difficult to play for an actor.
Pointy fingers and a screatching voice goes well with his name. He appear a lot, i mean a lot, as if he is the star of the show. The star is screaming !
Ranking every Devastator or Blitzwing designs
Robots in disguise 2015 starscream is one of my favorite designs I wish we got to see his jet mode in action in the show but at least we have a concept render of it
I’m going to be honest, I actually like the necrobot design of Energon Starscream.
Animated is near and dear to my heart, but that artwork you mentioned you liked is the best modern starscream period.
I grew up with Prime Starscream so I think that it’s safe to say he’s a favorite of mine.
I love Armada Starcream.
Say what you will about Armada qs a whole, but that version of starscream i am really drawn to for the same reasons I love Dinobot or Vegeta from dbz.
Just that whole is he good or bad debate/redemption arch, yeah is overdone, but I absolutely love them because they are done right and don't feel out of character at all.
I think if his Bayformers and TFPrime designs had a bit more color I'd like them a bit more. As it stands, they were always felt a little *too* gray for my tastes. Armada Scream has a great color scheme, but I think Animated might have my favorite Starscream color palette: love the magenta with the gray & gold.
For some of these I had specific names: Dorito Starscream, Spongebob Starscream, High Heels 3d Starscream etc.
my parents got me the red armada star scream, he’s pretty much dust now, one of his legs are gone and one or both of his wings, and his sword.
I never watched the other shows besides the original cartoon because well I didn’t know they existed and I didn’t exist when they where coming out
0:46 I've never watched Transformers Prime, is that hip wiggle *actually* in the show?? Because if so that's HILARIOUS xD
YES, IT IS.
A fun fact? They actually animated Starscream dancing as a joke, but the animators loved it so much that they kept it, dabbing, hip-shaking and all.
Yeeeeeah, you should watch Prime (if you haven't yet in the past 2 years).
It's peak Transformers.
Stayed up one night scrollin yt and I had no idea how much I'd like car starscream. You learn something new everyday
Theamazingspino's concept for starscream is by far my favorite starscream design ever, it's the perfect mix of G1 and DORITO while still being cohesive
Honestly seeing this reminds me of when I went to an auction years ago, used to go to it all the time when I was little, but the last time I was actually there, there was a G1 Thundercracker toy sitting on a table and I wanted it so bad, but I didn't know how to properly transform it since it was missing its Null Rays and a wing. It was a neat experience.
Ye early gang baby i always enjoy the ranking videos
For me wiþ earth mode armada starscream, i always imagine his engine/null laser cannons catching on everyþing or smacking into people when he turns, like someone holding a ladder
Genesis Starscream is what if he came back and killed Galvatron, that's why he's holding the severed canon, you can see the sparking wires.
I really like this design, I don't think future upgrades or versions need to look like G1 personally.
I honestly can't believe you included the God Mode Starscream cloud from Combiner Wars... That one honestly made me laugh so hard. 😂😂😂
I really enjoyed it! My favorites are probably the G1 starscream. The prime starscream. Bumblebee starscream WFC starscream. And the bayverse design from Rotf. Then I think siege would be a good one!
Also could you maybe make a tier list about like the combaticons/bruticus. Either from WFC or G1? If it's no big deal tough!
Heart of Steel Starscream looks like he came straight out of BIG O! I get major Big Duo vibes from him and trust me, anything that reminds me of Big Duo is definitely doing something right!
Movie Starscream I love the most simply because he transforms into an F-22 Raptor! Nothing says "I am superior!" more than taking on the form of the most powerful Jet Fighter in Aviation History.
Munch, is the theme of the live action 2007 Starscream's design. Munch means vulnerability, which fits in well with Starscream's modus operandi. The 2007 face elicits true wonder of sympathy, in which the wonder and sympathy components have to work together.
I recently got the masterpiece toy, of the 2007 edition; I haven't opened it yet, but am looking forward to doing so
I had no idea that bumblebee movie scene existed. Thats the first time I've said holy shit to any Transformers content ever.
Still early in the video, but Coronation Starscream does make a brief return in the Fall of Cybertron game. Can even find his crown again in a later level and play the rest of it with the crown on.
12:46 yep
Funny enough Cybertron Starscream was the only Starscream toy I ever had. All my friends had the live action movie toy, but I had that massive Cybertron toy and I was happy with it... Could've sworn it had a crown though...
Just looked it up, it DID have a crown, it also apparently had a cyber key, which I didn't know because the toy was a hand me down from my older brother
I love dorito starscream
Literally have only watched Prime and I love that show to bits, so I'm excited and scared to see where you put Prime's Scream
Probably one of, if not then my absolute favorite Decepticon💯 I’ll never get tired of him transforming into a jet, so iconic!
Surprised not many are familiar with Starscream's brief stint DJing for Slipknot.
RID2015 Starscream has always bugged me. He looks like a mix of G1, TFA, Armada, and a tiny hint of TFP, which you'd think would be a cool looking combo, but it wasn't . . . -his face also looks really off to me-
I like the jet mode tho, that looks good
Something I noticed on my last play through of High Moons WFC game is how muted the colors appear on the Seekers. They really don't pop at you at all.
I like all Starscreams but IDW and Armada all red Starscream is *chef's kiss* beautiful.
Angry birds pig star scream is probably how Megatron sees starscream
Can the intro be dedicated to Derrick?
R.I.P Forged to fight (deleted from the app store/ Google play store)
Growing up I had a armada starscream, but it was from the Energon line, it was a two pack with red alert (who was renamed prowl for the pack) and he had similar colors of the red maybe a bit darker, the white was now a grey, and the yellow was more like a bronze.
Can you rank the best TF transformations?
I didn't see the original but I really respect that you wanted to remake this to match a better quality
14:28 So we not gonna talk about how infiltration Starscream has PS5 legs?
So no Stone Starscream? (Smashes phone)
Meme aside Stone is such a good artist and their starscream is kissable in a feral gremlin way
Man like the way you place it to I'm stupid and eternally screaming since you react🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for your contributions to humanity it will be noted
Energon!Starscream's """cyborg""" look was meant to be details implying his reconstructed form being "incomplete".
Transformers Armada Star scream was lit.
7:30 I have watched every single movie, rewatched every scene on RUclips for fun, I know every scene by heart. And yet I never noticed the Decepticon insignia on Starscream’s head.
Nice job everyone like this video if you like starscream
Great vid, I'm biased toward the Armada Starscream.
I just wish in Bumblebee they hadn't made Blitzwing look so much like G1 Starscream. Either make the character Bumblebee fights Starscream or make him purple and tan so we feel like we're seeing freakin Blitzwing. Small quibble..
My favorite Starscream designs are G1/original, Galaxy Force, Bumblebee, and Shattered Glass (Skyfire colors).
I believe that the G1 versions of Optimus, Megatron and Starscream in SMITE are pretty much just the Transformers Devastation versions, but the normal versions are awesome.
Shadowglass Starscream looks like he's a member of the Thunderbirds & Blue Angeles with his color scheme lol
4:20 wait, theres... theres an armada game? HOW AM I ONLY NOW HEARING OF THIS!?
