It was a small moment but it was when Bee said “he’s going to kill everyone” when Megatron started destroying Iacon that made me think he’s not completely socially inept. He recognized that this guy who he met recently had become a serious problem and something needed to be done. I’m glad they didn’t give him any jokey lines during the serious moments.
another line i absolutely love from him is after the main 4 characters witness sentinel with the quintessons, bee goes "i dont believe this... i mean i can because i just saw it but.. i just cant believe it.." something along those lines, like he still has emotions and also genuinely felt betrayed too
The badassetron line kinda did a 180 for me at the end, when he gets the battlemask, he was just so happy and screaming his nickname that I couldn’t help but love it.
You know what’s more sadder? B might be the oldest in the group because there are 2 hints are that: 1) He somehow has the SOS message from Alpha Trion in which happened during the day of the fall of Primes. 2) When High Guard was introduced, out of everyone, B was the first one to recognize High Guard and even know the names of each individual.
3) his line in the movie that said "between long time and forever" because he lost count of how many cycle he been stuck down there to the point he make imaginary friends to keep himself company
I'm pretty sure the implication of him having the recording was that Sentinel wanted it destroyed and tossed it down there but Bee thought "Ooh shiny!" and held onto it without realizing what it really was.
I cannot overstate how much I _love_ that they recognized _when_ to tell jokes and when _not_ to. When a serious moment was happening, they didn't have 'Bee chime in with some awful joke in an attempt to keep things from getting _too_ serious. No, they let the moments sink in and absorb, and they show 'Bee reacting to it in a way that makes sense, without feeling too out of character but also not feeling like they don't trust themselves to tell an actual story.
B's got so many good lines because of this; "I can't believe it. I mean, I just saw it, but I can't. Believe it." The genuine fear when he tells D not to get back up again. It really shows that B is sincere in _everything_ he does, and the filmmakers were sincere in making that happen.
watched a video some time ago about a guy who decided to watch the lord of the rings trilogy for the first time and was expecting that sort of joke that would take him out of the story for the ENTIRE trilogy, waiting for a punchline that never came. after realizing how normalized that lack of sincerity in storytelling is and how it shouldn’t be that way, the video i’m talking about was then made. it’s definitely a rarer art form in the mainstream than it was say, 30 to 40 years ago. everybody likes to blame marvel for this recent cliché, but i’ve come to learn that things aren’t as clear cut as they seem to be and pointing fingers with such confidence with no effort to prove it evident is a sure fire way to get yourself into internet arguments, so i won’t do that. it would be interesting to see some genuine data on the topic though
The best part is when everyone is shouting all Hail Megatron, he and Elita-1 looks shocked and distraught. I like how even after seeing Megatron dropping Orion, Elita-1 still chose to stop him saying it's over and Bee followed. I love this movie man.
Bee pretty much inadvertently told us himself why he was down there. "They kept promoting me to lower levels because of how awesome I am!" (Something like that) Basically he straight up failed his way down to the bottom.
I love this version of Bee. He's only annoying cuz he has a lot to say and thinks he's part of every conversation. But he does it in good faith and to not compensate like TFA Bee. TFOne Bee also knows when to appropriately stay silent, like in the cave scene. My favorite part is when he gestures an Energon cube to Orion to give to Alpha Trion without saying anything. He's definitely one of those comedic reliefs that can add to scenes in sincere ways. 🐝
I loved that part too. Dude was isolated and that was his first time out with other bots in lord knows how long... but he's also about business he's not inept or a liability. Hopefully in the sequel(s) he lives up to that badassatron name
I love that they gave a reason for his obnoxious behavior and how its kind of sympathizing that I think Orion's the only one to just deal with it and go with the flow. Just casual kindness and acceptance. And D-16 is just polite cause he doesn't wanna hurt his feelings. I hope Optimus and Bee's friendship grows stronger for any continuation. This makes them really feel like equal characters, just one is less mature, so like older and younger brother thing. What I really wonder is if there's any continuity where Optimus is fully like a parent of Bee.
In the original 80s cartoon Optimus is kinda like a cool father figure to Bee (but he's also like that to a lot of the autobots tbh) I'd love to see them bring back that iterration of Optimus in more Transformers media instead of the face ripping BayVerse version.
Yeah, I think the reason why they made Bee like that is to show what isolation did to him. I don't think it was merely a lazy attempt to get cheap laughs by young children. There was definitely a whole other, unseen reason why he was the way he was.
@@WorthlessDeadEnd Not really unseen when its already written in that he's just a bit incompetant and obnoxious. This is the case of the writers giving proper cause and effect to characterization. And the result being a very nice energetic and loving version of Bee.
@@Talmorne This is one of em. Pretty sure everything outside of the bayverse is a less violent Optimus in control of his emotions. Though you kind of have to kill in a war the best approach is Optimus obviously finding no pleasure in doing so and finding alternatives when he is able to.
That Bee losing his voice theory actually had its seed planted in the Starscream duel. It's a great parallel because Orion does stop D16 from straight ripping out Starscream's voice box and getting blown to bits. If Megatron ends up the one muting Bee, everyone's gonna end up missing the yapper Bee.
I don't think he will entirely lose his voice. Instead I think he might get it damaged, somewhat repaired but still not 100% functional, he might need to use some special equipment to talk fully cus it might hurt if he talks too much. Either way, I hope he doesn't suffer THAT much
@@Cdr2002 It works as both. Put in to reference the voice (or possibly change it permanently), also plants the idea in the viewers mind that that’s a possible injury others can get.
I loved this incarnation of Bee because he is absolutely bananas. Most of the time he's just a little guy who wants to be friends, but in this movie he's a complete lunatic due to his isolation. It's refreshing.
I love Bee he’s a comedic character but he’s really sad when you think about it for more then 5 seconds he’s been isolated for primus knows how long you can’t blame him for being very talkative to the other 3
If Orion Pax and D-16 have been mining for 50 cycles (I assume is 50k years in Cybertronian or 500 or 5k idk it depends on the universe) and B-127 has been there since *"Forever"* I think it might be wise to take it literally, poor guy
Kinda reminds me of IDW Tailgate, Just like Bee he's kid-friendly character & isolated for... quite some time (he managed to avoid millenia-spanning Great War because of it)
@@TorridPrime217 You find him annoying, I find him silly in a movie. If this was a mature movie like the bayverse, or John Wick, I’d agree. But this is just a fun silly movie with some mature themes.
@@thrissurugadi959 That's like, 2 continuities. Prime and Bayverse. I know the movie takes heavy inspiration from Prime, but not every continuity needs to be the same. Not all the characters have to have the same things happen to the in every continuity
@@thrissurugadi959 exactly, theres no way they're gonna have him yap that much and NOT have something happen as a result. Theres no way there gonna have him act the same for all 3 movies something is gonna have to happen.
When bee explained his backstory I just felt bad for him. Dudes been stuck down in waste management for years and has been failing his jobs. What’s better is unlike most comic reliefs is that he doesn’t crack a joke during a serious moment and treats it like an actual problem
You’re right about that. I think one of the saddest parts about that scene is that while he doesn’t crack jokes about it, he does try to talk about it like it doesn’t matter/isn’t important. Maybe it’s out of fear that the new people he just met will also discard him if he’s to much of a burden, or he doesn’t want to think about how much it’s impacted him. (Or a combo of both OR another secret third option. Either way it is very sad.) I hope there’s more character development for him in the future. If he gets flandarized to just the chatty comic relief it would be really disappointing
The repetition of the Badassatron joke never got annoying for me because I (a fellow haver of ADHD) do the same shit. Repeat the same thing to as many people as possible in hopes of one person going along with it. The entire time I was just thinking “YES DUDE TALK AS MUCH AS YOU NEED I KNOW YOU WERE LOOSING IT DOWN THERE”
I've seen a comment that if you removed Bee from the TF1 movie that nothing would change, they forget that it was Bee who had a couple of energon cubes in his forearm to reactivate Alpha Trion. So without him Orion and the rest would have not found out about Sentinel's treachery.
True, and even further back than that. It was Bee who saved the scrap to create Steve, where the inside of his head had the message of Alpha Trion, had he not been there the message would have been lost and Orion and D-16 would have never known
@@sketch_adrenaline2569It's implied that Sentinel trashed that recording, meaning the only reason that Sentinel's regime fell was because Bee unknowingly saved the SOS beacon to make Steve
people forget that the comedic relief is a staple in fiction since stories were told. it's a deliberate way to break the tension in a movie; a story as serious as transformers one NEEDS bee, especially since it's still a kids movie think about it like this; how many times have you described a sad or tragic experience in your life, then ended the story with a joke? you don't want to make your friends feel heavy so you lighten the mood. doing so in moderation is what's important. I think there's a very healthy balance of serious and jokes in tfo, unlike in a lot of more recent marvel movies where they can't let a serious beat last more than a second before making a gag out of it
What you say touches on the subject of people that say the plot doesn't change if you take Bee out of it: The tonal influences certainly will change. A lot. Just think about the scene where the mc's are brought to the High Guard. From start to finish that scene would have been so extremely tense. And it was! When D-16 and Starscream went at it. But it would have been so much more choking if Bee wasn't there to get that little joke out of Shockwave's reaction and also his dialogue lightening the tone for a bit while providing exposition. This is just one example but there are many more. Just imagine the entire movie scene by scene without him in it. It would be so much less digestible. And while serious tones aren't bad, it's about setting a good balance. Especially for an all-ages movie (It's in the category name. Not just kids but Adults too, people tend to forget that) And I found Bee to be quite unintrusive. Hell, he did get a decent amount of laughs out of me despite me clearly not being the age demographic he is meant to appeal to. Either way I think you are trying to point out how much of a necessary tonal component he is for the story. And I agree.
I saw this movie with my gf who doesn’t really care about transformers. Bee’s antics made her laugh and actually enjoy the movie a lot more and I definitely laughed too. Yes at the “badassitron part too and I’m like 22 rn-
I want Bee to be the tragic character. Bee had three friends, one of them will become a war leader, the other one will more than likely die in the second film, and one will become consumed with keeping cybertron safe from Decepticons and Quintessons. Theres just so much potential with Bee that they can do for the second and potentially third movie.
Bee helps ground Optimus with what could be best described as humanity. There’s people and individual persons with struggles out there. Trying to do the best they can for each other. You’re not alone. Not all is lost.
FR. I really hope they go that "tragic character" route. The first people he's met in years aren't going to have good fates, and soon he's going to get dragged down with them.
Yh I hope something happens, he loses his voice box and resorts to 🐝 ing like how he did in tfp and then just becomes a total badass fighter like in the bayverse living up to the name "Badassatron"
Another funny reference is that he names one of his “friends” A-A-Tron. It’s a reference to one of Keegan Michael key’s previous skits on key and peele called “substitute teacher”
Destroying the control room was definitely his best joke, especially with the music giving us a sense of Bee's mindset in the moment. Getting carried away and loving it!
The worst part is when its revealed that Bee knows how to get out from sub-level 50 & is perfectly capable to do it, yet he still is stuck working in the junk deposit, because basically implies he always comes back there 'cause he doesn't know to do anything aside from his hob there & he didn't have any other place to go
Finally, a movie that explores a deeper reason behind Bumblebee's comedic side and a fan that understands and appreciates this kind of writing for the character.
I had my own headcanon that either Sentinel or Darkwing couldn’t take Bee’s chatterbox personality that they threw him into Sublevel 50 to keep him out of their skin. Heck, if it was Sentinel Prime, he’d pull a Pink Diamond to Spinel, with Sentinel telling Bee that his job was “more important” than he thinks, and that he should stay down there, because it’s a TOUGH JOB, and someone with his status should do it. And then he says “And that will make you a Badassitron”.
I really do like how they did Bee in this movie, like you can tell pretty quickly he's the comic relief type of character of the four, but they brilliantly wrote the reason why he acts the way he does so you can't help but laugh but feel bad for him at the same time. Not to mention Bee has moments when he knows when things are getting serious, even his tone of voice when those time comes. Keegan-Michael Key is able to bring that tone that honestly surprises me that really balance Bee out.
B-127's isolation reminds me of how Kup had his own isolated time that also affected him mentally. He was malnutritioned, he saw his dead friend as his only companion and sees other bots attempting to rescue him as foes due to his visions.
The entire film had been foreshadowing the biggest event that B-127 will have in the sequel, like you can tell the people behind it really wanted it to happen and I agree, him losing his voice from one of the first friends he ever made will be heartbreaking to see if they're going to show it or not
i like that he was used just enough, like he wasnt overdone in my opinion and there were other characters who had funny moments (like shockwave) and bee could get serious when he had to like when he talked back to sentinel or when he helped elita try and restrain megatron
@@maxrichards3881 yep, sentinel makes up a story hes gonna tell the public that d16, bee, and the high guard are working with the quintessons to make himself look like a hero and bee goes "NONE OF THAT IS TRUE!"
As someone who was abused and neglected as a child, I immediately recognized and related to Bumblebee's loud and 'annoying' personality. When you are forced to not interact with people via forced isolation, the day you finally CAN fulfill that basic necessity, you overdo it. You overdo it because you don't know/forgotten all those subtle social cues, or are just too so excited about PEOPLE, you forget.
You know, Megatron ripping out B’s voice box could be a nice parallel to how Sentinel Prime removed the T-cogs from the miners, thus establishing the former D-16 as finally being no better than his predecessor.
Real talk: I love the "Badassatron" bit BECAUSE it's so obnoxious and stupid. Seriously, the scene where he's repeating it to the clearly not having it Elita is funny to me.
My brother, who wasn't really a fan of the jokes, *really* loved Bee's "working for the govt'" and "watch me cut these guys up" lines. Also, Badassatron is so funny to us, we always quote it.
What I love about Bee is that he's genuinely psychotic. His humor came from his isolation for who knows how long which pushed him to the brink of insanity. He's not "hee hoo, I'm so delulu," he's genuinely crazy and a danger to society.
personally i like the mute bumblebee it adds a layer of depth to his character and as a person who suffers from adhd not being able to communicate properly what im trying to say is super frustrating so a character so expressive losing his voice is heart breaking but imo it teaches him to be more focused and disciplined idk maybe im looking too far into it but that’s how i feel
Mute bee I also tend to lean towards enjoying more. Perhaps some of it is because he's often more emotive in his gestures (Like in Prime), which resonates with me more. I just don't entirely get why people don't like him being mute. "He wasn't mute in G1" doesn't really work for me, because most modern iterations of characters aren't carbon copies of their G1 versions. Though this may also be because I grew up with him being mute due to the movies and Prime
@@Furydragonstormer honestly i feel like people lean into g1 too much bc they always want new g1 designs and won’t accept anything new like i get liking the classics but you get the same design over and over with the same character tropes over and over it just gets boring and all those serious moments when bumblebee speaks would have no weight to it if he spoke all the time
For a person known for yapping endlessly, he knows when to keep his mouth shut. He's not neeslessly talking during serious moments which helps comic relief characters work.
Honestly Bee being mute is actually one of the traits I liked about his character, and the beeps and him communicating through radio lines? Thats adorable Him having a voice in this movie though I did not mind
While not all of Bumblebee's jokes landed, I will say he wasn't as bad as I thought and genuinely had more funny moments than unfunny, as they made it clear he was obnoxiously talkative on purpose and made him relatively sympathetic with how lonely and forcibly isolated he is becoming a schizophrenic outcast. Honestly, Keegan Micheal Key did a good job as Bee. Though I do prefer the idea of Bumblebee to being the younger member of the Autobots personally, I do still appreciate that they knew to keep Bumblebee quiet and composed during more serious scenes. Hopefully, if they make a sequel to this movie, which I really hope they do, I would love to see Bumblebee learn to be an emotional anchor and friend to Optimus, helping him get through the guilt he feels for being unable to save D-16 from becoming Megatron and killing Sentinel. Maybe in the sequel, Bumblebee could try and understand what his purpose is on the Autobots and realise how he's the glue/scout helping Optimus see the bright side of things, to make him laugh and smile through the pain and responsibility of restoring Cybertron, and he can show that by sacrificing his own voice when and if Megatron would rip out his voice box, thus Bee willingly gives up a part of himself to save Optimus and Optimus sadly realises that there's no saving Megatron from what he's become
As someone who has Bumblebee as one of his favorite characters in all of fiction, I think BADASSATRON is legitimately one of the best versions of said character in the entire TF franchise. The haters are truly miserable people with no light in their hearts and lives. I feel bad for them.
Aside of his comedic character, what I like from Bee is how he valued their friendship and didnt take D-16's side after he killed Orion Pax. Bcuz ofc in this movie he met both D-16 and Orion Pax at the same time so it's possible for him to jump from side to side after Orion death to gets the security reassurence amid the chaos. Instead he stood at his ground and just happy to met a good people he called as a friends.
I’ve been a transformers fan since I was a kid and still love it. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the movie. I took my cousins lil boy to transformers one, he’s 7. He was so enthralled. It was his first time exposure to transformers. I was around the same age when I got into it. And of course his fav cybertronian is B. After the movie he begged me to borrow him the g1 series (I have every generation on DVD/blu ray or digital)
To be honest, I like bumblebee even with or without his voice he’s always my favorite character throughout the franchise one growing up And I like his comedy in the movie it’s anyways, and I like him in the movie.😂
I do understand criticisms towards B at least I can understand why he acts like that and wasn’t something that came out of thin air. We see how some miners are affected by sentinels punishments even if this one’s more comedic on the surface it shows that sentinel was perfectly OK with putting miners in complete isolation for daring to step out of line. It’s easy to assume that B was an entirely different person and how he acted before being thrown in there. And due to being down there for who knows how long he made those “friends” of his so he doesn’t feel alone anymore, but when D 16 and Orion show up, he finally has people to talk to and is excited and lets it all out
Honestly I feel like the presentation of Bumblebee was pretty spot on and kinda puts a new spin on the character, because he clearly isn’t stupid and has been around long enough to remember who the High Guard was, but him being trapped in isolation for so long and that resulting in him having trouble ‘reading the room’ and not very perceptive in social situations. and I think it’s something that can be relatable to a good portion of the audience who were always seen as “the weird kid” or “not fitting in” because they were ‘behind’ socially than their peers.
He thankfully doesn’t take you out of serious moments, but I wish he wasn’t so weirdly kill-happy. Orion was really out here telling D-16 to not shoot Sentinel after saying literally nothing to Bee having a blast slicing and dicing those guards in half 😭
There's a difference between fighting for your life, and performing an execution. Almost all of his slice and dice moments are happening at the same time as Orion is partaking in the same kinda action. Sentinel's death rubbed Orion the wrong way because he didn't want to start off rebuilding Cybertron with an execution.
And most of the bots he killed were drones who are AI with no free thinking, so they are technically not Cybertronians. He mainly intimidated others to keep them from interfereing with the revolution (except the first bot telling him not to come into the speaker control room). 😅
I totally agree with this, I didn't find him overly obnoxious at all, might be because I related to him as someone who has ADHD LOL And also your idea of Megatron ripping out his voice box and making everyone realize there's no saving him is a very good one, just thinking about that scenario genuinely made me feel emotions
I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if the movie producers go down that route. It would make what Elita said to Bee more tragic. A cruel irony after hearing, "I need you to talk less." It would be so tragic! 😭😭😭
Bee’s character arc is so well done I relate in a lot of sad ways. I see my younger self in him a lot. I might cry if they end up tearing out his voice box later. There’s so many examples in tfo that shows how language is power. It can influence people one way or another. The only difference between Optimus rallying the miners and Megatron with the high guard is their diction when giving speeches. Imagine if it were Optimus with the high guard. Or Megatron and the miners. Point is, there’s a good chance they might do it, take away bee’s voice. But it won’t be a one off event. It’ll surely be the tipping point that drives a deep wedge between Optimus and Megatron. It would change the tone of the entire reason they’re fighting. I’d theyre gonna do it, it’ll have to be huge. If they treat it like a secondary plot point, that’s how I’ll know the movie isn’t done the best way possible.
At first I thought Bee was a little annoying but not nearly as annoying as I thought he'd be going into the theater. Before his intro scene was even over I was starting to find him endearing. I found some things concerning, like his fake friends, and that a character like him could potentially have a toxic positivity mindset. However, as you said in the video, he was serious in the serious moments and really paid attention to what's going on. So he wasn't this hyper, half living in another reality type of character that plagues several kids shows I've been exposed to. He felt more genuine. I think if there's a sequel, it could be about fighting off the Quintessons but in doing so it sets off a war based on ideology about the future. The High Guard possibly uses espionage to dismantle something or there's a betrayal during the first against the Qs that leads to the name "Decepticons" for Megatron's faction. Things go really wrong, Prime tries his hardest to reach Megatron one 'last' time, but it costs Bee a severe injury and his voice which leaves Bee devastated. Prime then sees Megatron truly as an enemy and the movie closes with events that show the dominoes falling into place where the Decepticons rise to have an inordinate amount of power in comparison to the Autobots, which kinda sets the tone for how the G1-linked continuities tend to go. The Cons technically win and it's the Autobots on the run. (I was wondering, too, if Shockwave might get a knock in the head of some kind to make him less emotional. Him being angry was kinda hilarious but also I wondered how he was the one chosen as comedic relief?! lol) I do agree that having Bee go mute again would officially make it a trope, lol, but the difference in ONE is that it would be the first time any audience actually lives through and witnesses the significant nature of that moment which reframes the context of past films and shows where he is mute when people go back and rewatch. I can see how it could work despite being overdone. I was SO HAPPY to see Shockwave and Soundwave in this background, side by side. My faves. Although the problem with the High Guard overall was the complete one dimensionalness of these characters who would become the most notorious Decepticons in Megatron's army. Like, really? I want THEIR background too! Literally none of these movies or shows have explored, to my satisfaction, WHY Soundwave is so loyal to Megatron for example. Is it so out of pocket that villains can have friends?? lol Freakin' Hasbro.
You know, I just watched transformers one a second time after seeing this video. And I can appreciate Bumblebee more than I did on the first viewing. Thanks.
When Bumblebee build his friends from scrap, and then destroys'em by mistake It'll maybe be a foreshadowing that he'll lose a friend right before his eyes, from one of the Autobots Optimus recruited along with him Just speculation
I could not agree more good sir. I told everyone I saw the movie with to give Bee a chance, and to understand how lonely he must have been. Good on you for taking the time to make this video.
That was the exact thought I had once D-16 became Megatron. Watching the movie, I had like a flashforward of him grabbing Bee going “You talk too much” before throwing him off a building after taking his voice away. Bro, that’d be so tense!
Bee's role in this film was a pretty good set up. His loneliness caused him to grab random parts which coincidentally pushed him to move the plot further with finding that recording, and honestly, his energy can be chalked up to just being able to get out and stretch his legs, but also having friends around him. Anyone would get excited over that premise. All in all, I enjoyed this version of Bee, it's a refreshing take on the more serious iterations of Bee. But one could claim that's just his lack of impulse control and experience in the war might toughen him up some down the story line. I do sincerely hope we get a sequel, because this was enjoyable, and I'm constantly telling friends and fam to go see it while they can. It was done dirty by advertisements. Both lack there of, and set up to look like a buddy comedy when it was far from it.
In my humble opinion, this Bumblebee is iconic on his own way. I love how a chaotic gremlin he is ❤ And the Badasstaron and scene where he cuts down everything are my favorurites 😁
The only exposure to Transformers I’ve gotten was when I was a kid and got to see a few live action movies that I didn’t understand, Transformers Rescue Bots, and Transformers Animated. The two series had Bumblebee talk (at least in one episode for Rescue Bots). I’m more used to him talking than beeping funnily enough so he was just fun in the movie. My mom and I laughed a ton (which is unusual)
The saddest thing I found about him is that you _immediately_ figure out he went mad from the isolation. It'd be nice to see in the next movie... I don't know, Optimus and Megatron _trying_ to defeat the Quintessons together. But it becomes clear that their approaches are frighteningly different.
Before watching the movie in theaters and while watchingnit in theaters i thought to myself "man, what if when D-16 becomes megatron he gas enough of badassatrons nonstop talking and rips out his voice box. That would suck." And then it didnt happen and i was like, "oh thank primus, he can still talk and he workd with the government!" And While watching i thought he was funny and relatable. But then i thought "oh man, if his voice ever gets ripped out in the future of this film it would be really sad" i give this film an 11/10, fantastic movie! Edit: i didnt relise i mistyped a lot of the words until after posting 😅
One joke with Bee that got me good was a subtle background joke. When he meets Orion and D16, he’s wearing some sort of mask. Given that it had some sort of visual indicator over his eyes, I kinda assumed it was to make analyzing the trash easier to see what to salvage. He takes it off and puts it on the conveyer belt leading to the incinerator, then never addresses it again even as it gets incinerated. The fact that it seemed important to his job (but didn’t seem important to Bee himself, which would’ve made me feel bad for him) makes the fact that it being destroyed got no direct attention so funny to me.
Keegan Michael Key did a great job as B-127/Bumblebee, I don't think he is bad. He did a great job, and he knows how to make B take stuff so seriously, like the story that Alpha-Tron told Sentinel Prime took all the bots's T-Cogs, D-16 aka Megatron take Megatronus Prime's T-Cog out of Sentinel's body Bee and Elita are shock about it. if they did, not the same, even making Bee be quiet doesn't work even be the safety one. Nice work on the video.
It reminded me of Perito from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish Both characters are comedic relief, both are companions the main character(s) has throughout the whole journey, and they both know when to keep things serious. That kind of balance makes a character a good addition without ruining the movie.
I don't think Bee being mute in 2007 was just to be cute. It seems like it was to help ease general audiences into the idea of giant transforming robots from space. And to help create an emotional bond between B and Sam in a way that would be less easy to do if he could talk. Just as E.T. couldn't talk.
I agree however when ROTF came around they saw the VB as a gimmick to the point they retconned it. I mean they never revisited the VB issue until TLK and they still messed it up somehow
I watched this movie twice already (work for a movie theater) but I love Bee here honestly. He’s still young and naive but he’s definitely able to be a little too annoying. Also, Bee said that his friends don’t talk cause they’re junk so he’s still lucid enough to know that they’re fake.
Bumblebee spoke throughout the Aligned Contuity, from the end of Prime, to all of TFP Beast Hunters: Predacons Rising, all of Robots in Disguise 2015, and even through later “guest star” spots on Rescue Bots. In each case, he was voiced by Will Friedle, and I thought he did a great job.
havent seen the movie, but it makes sense that someone that's been isolated for so long is someone who can never shut up, a coping mechanism to deal with loneliness that kicks tenfold probably once he met real bots.
I had 0 expectations for this movie I was actually pretty pessimistic about it. It blew me away, I watched Transformers Prime SO much as a kid and getting to SEE a movie about all of the stories the auto bots were telling the kids was so cool. I cried, I laughed. I love this fucking movie.
Honestly shocked to see not a lot of people talking about his specific role in the story. This is literally someone who is at the very bottom of society because of the unfair system.
100% agree Bee takes things a bit too far at times, but me and my theatre were laughing so hard at the “badassatron” jokes and the one about the government I’d say it’s not that bad (I think he was my dad’s favorite even, I think he’s definitely geared to entertain the younger ones tho. Which makes sense)
Bee is a funny and tragic but loyal friend in any transformers, he literally like Jazz twin brother but less cool but a younger bro that can clutch the game when needed
I legit thought that was what was gonna happen at the end. They did A LOT of foreshadowing to it: "Badassatron" sounding similar to "Megatron", moments where D-16 was visibly annoyed by B's ramblings, Starscream's voice getting messed up when D-16 choked him, the fact that B NEVER. STOPPED. *TALKING.* It being a Transformers movie, etc. I thought at the very end during Elita and B's fight with Megatron, Megs would grab B, B would ask him what he was doing and Megs would reply with "something that should've been done A LONG TIME AGO," and crushes B's voicebox.
I can perfectly imagine Megatron setting up a personal arena and challenge other Decpticons to remind them of his strength or a way to honor Megatronus.

Or maybe "4 little civilians make a revolution and start civil war"
“Miners fight god.”

Miners commit deicide.
Also fight racism in exchange for a future civil war.
“I get to work for the government!” and this movie having an A-Aron joke is still comedy gold.

the a-atron bit was making me laugh so hard
It was a small moment but it was when Bee said “he’s going to kill everyone” when Megatron started destroying Iacon that made me think he’s not completely socially inept. He recognized that this guy who he met recently had become a serious problem and something needed to be done. I’m glad they didn’t give him any jokey lines during the serious moments.
He can be serious when he wants to be.
Yeah, when dude makes weird jokes, it doesn't mean he doesn't understand what is happening
I say "Dude was socially isolated for years, not an idiot." Being socially inept doesn't mean a person doesn't have any common sense.
@@gem9535 Suddenly, I really relate to this guy
another line i absolutely love from him is after the main 4 characters witness sentinel with the quintessons, bee goes "i dont believe this... i mean i can because i just saw it but.. i just cant believe it.." something along those lines, like he still has emotions and also genuinely felt betrayed too
The badassetron line kinda did a 180 for me at the end, when he gets the battlemask, he was just so happy and screaming his nickname that I couldn’t help but love it.
the first time was funny, the one when hes walking with elita isnt, the one at the end was great

the nickname of Badassatron .
You know what’s more sadder?
B might be the oldest in the group because there are 2 hints are that:
1) He somehow has the SOS message from Alpha Trion in which happened during the day of the fall of Primes.
2) When High Guard was introduced, out of everyone, B was the first one to recognize High Guard and even know the names of each individual.
For number two, he might have found an old recording
@@ionixknight clue is also in the name he might be older than d16 himself
3) his line in the movie that said "between long time and forever" because he lost count of how many cycle he been stuck down there to the point he make imaginary friends to keep himself company
I'm pretty sure the implication of him having the recording was that Sentinel wanted it destroyed and tossed it down there but Bee thought "Ooh shiny!" and held onto it without realizing what it really was.
A. B127. c and then D. many generations has many passed
Man, I wish certain _other_ movies nowadays would do that
B's got so many good lines because of this;
"I can't believe it. I mean, I just saw it, but I can't. Believe it."
The genuine fear when he tells D not to get back up again.

I wonder D-16/Megatron will eventually rip out B-127/Bee's voice box just to shut him up.
Either way, I hope he doesn't suffer THAT much
That’s exactly what I was thinking! Cross entry foreshadowing my beloved

I loved this incarnation of Bee because he is absolutely bananas. Most of the time he's just a little guy who wants to be friends, but in this movie he's a complete lunatic due to his isolation. It's refreshing.
They just took the kind of character who's really eager to make friends and put him in isolation
Yesh
I love Bee he’s a comedic character but he’s really sad when you think about it for more then 5 seconds he’s been isolated for primus knows how long you can’t blame him for being very talkative to the other 3
If Orion Pax and D-16 have been mining for 50 cycles (I assume is 50k years in Cybertronian or 500 or 5k idk it depends on the universe) and B-127 has been there since *"Forever"* I think it might be wise to take it literally, poor guy

Either way it is very sad.)
I hope there’s more character development for him in the future. If he gets flandarized to just the chatty comic relief it would be really disappointing

people forget that the comedic relief is a staple in fiction since stories were told. it's a deliberate way to break the tension in a movie; a story as serious as transformers one NEEDS bee, especially since it's still a kids movie
think about it like this; how many times have you described a sad or tragic experience in your life, then ended the story with a joke? you don't want to make your friends feel heavy so you lighten the mood. doing so in moderation is what's important. I think there's a very healthy balance of serious and jokes in tfo, unlike in a lot of more recent marvel movies where they can't let a serious beat last more than a second before making a gag out of it
Having a comic relief character who tries to lighten the mood even during a hopeless situation is well, nice to say the least-
What you say touches on the subject of people that say the plot doesn't change if you take Bee out of it:
The tonal influences certainly will change.

I want Bee to be the tragic character. Theres just so much potential with Bee that they can do for the second and potentially third movie.
Yeah. And Steve😭
Maybe also because he love taking so much, perhaps only for later for megatron to rip out his voice box.
Another funny reference is that he names one of his “friends” A-A-Tron. It’s a reference to one of Keegan Michael key’s previous skits on key and peele called “substitute teacher”
A-A-ron! I caught that straight away XD
Exactly @@Talmorne

Bee’s probably the reason that shockwave is going to remove his emotions.

My brother, who wasn't really a fan of the jokes, *really* loved Bee's "working for the govt'" and "watch me cut these guys up" lines. Also, Badassatron is so funny to us, we always quote it.
It made me laugh every time
What I love about Bee is that he's genuinely psychotic.
Me too. Mute he represents survived, but damaged cybertronians. Like, disabled warriors, that still fight. I love that
Mute bee I also tend to lean towards enjoying more.
Thats adorable
Him having a voice in this movie though I did not mind
Taking notes for when I eventually get to my B-127 character analysis video...
I would love to see it.
When B stormed the radio room with dubstep in the background I lost it, biggest laugh of the entire film for me haha!
2:10 this joke has been repeated so many times, but it’s the confidence he says it with which makes it so hilarious lmao
To be honest, I like bumblebee even with or without his voice he’s always my favorite character throughout the franchise one growing up
And I like his comedy in the movie it’s anyways, and I like him in the movie.😂
5:55 held those poor guards hostage
I love how D-16 said "and we're stuck in her with this...very...cool guy..." he didn't wanna hurt B's feelings, i just thought id point that out.
Then again, they were in the middle of a fight and Orion only called B’s attention when they were on their why to the communication center.
I totally agree with this, I didn't find him overly obnoxious at all, might be because I related to him as someone who has ADHD LOL
And also your idea of Megatron ripping out his voice box and making everyone realize there's no saving him is a very good one, just thinking about that scenario genuinely made me feel emotions
Him being angry was kinda hilarious but also I wondered how he was the one chosen as comedic relief?! lol)
I do agree that having Bee go mute again would officially make it a trope, lol, but the difference in ONE is that it would be the first time any audience actually lives through and witnesses the significant nature of that moment which reframes the context of past films and shows where he is mute when people go back and rewatch.
Thanks.
The Badassatron was so gold, specially because what started as a mere joke turned somewhat wholesome when he got his battle mask and blades.
the badassatron joke was honestly funny the second time
A real one never speaks ill of badassatron
Fr!
I cried when he showed his trash friends scene. MY HEART. I WANNA HUG BEE and listen to him rambling about anything.
When Bumblebee build his friends from scrap, and then destroys'em by mistake
It'll maybe be a foreshadowing that he'll lose a friend right before his eyes, from one of the Autobots Optimus recruited along with him
Just speculation
We shall once more follow tradition...
by killing Cliffjumper!
This probably was a needed video due to how some people aren't looking between the lines when it comes to his character
I love how a chaotic gremlin he is ❤
And the Badasstaron and scene where he cuts down everything are my favorurites 😁
It's crazy to have a Transformers movie where Bumblebee is more bloodthirsty than Optimus.
To be fair, Bumblebee has always been a menace (yeah, even in G1 but more like silly menace type)
That's what salvaged him in my opinion, that he knew when to take things seriously.
It reminded me of Perito from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
Both characters are comedic relief, both are companions the main character(s) has throughout the whole journey, and they both know when to keep things serious.
The one joke that got me was a reference to ‘Key & Peele’, where he named one of his made-up friendbots ‘AA-Tron’ [watch the substitute teacher skit].
1:20 😂😂😂😂😂 great joke!
Bee really said *gatcha ฿1₮₵Ⱨ
I watched this movie twice already (work for a movie theater) but I love Bee here honestly. He’s still young and naive but he’s definitely able to be a little too annoying. Also, Bee said that his friends don’t talk cause they’re junk so he’s still lucid enough to know that they’re fake.
0:50 r kelly that you???
Thats crazy
Bumblebee spoke throughout the Aligned Contuity, from the end of Prime, to all of TFP Beast Hunters: Predacons Rising, all of Robots in Disguise 2015, and even through later “guest star” spots on Rescue Bots. In each case, he was voiced by Will Friedle, and I thought he did a great job.
I hop in later movies B-127 will not loose his voice. Please keep that stuff In the Bay, Night, and prime universe!
I alway hated the idea of B being mute, he came of more as a pet than a intergalactic warrior
havent seen the movie, but it makes sense that someone that's been isolated for so long is someone who can never shut up, a coping mechanism to deal with loneliness that kicks tenfold probably once he met real bots.
I did laugh a lot at the "Watch me, im gonna cut these guys!" line.
My favourite joke in the entire movie is shockwave telling Elita 1 that bumblebee wouldn’t stop talking and it’s worse when he was unconscious.
4:40 my dad said that the entrance of the cave looks like Shockwave's worm from DOTM
1:51 what do you mean by too late? What do you know that we don't!
6:50 I never thought of it like that XD!!!
Bumblebee talks in the original cartoon series
Bee is a funny and tragic but loyal friend in any transformers, he literally like Jazz twin brother but less cool but a younger bro that can clutch the game when needed
They pushed the "badassatron" button so many times, I almost *wanted* Megatron to rip out his voice box.
I have a feeling it'll happen in the next film @deltaknight2764
when your tolerance is so low that a joke repeated 3 times incredibly spaced apart in well placed intervals is aggravatingly annoying
It was worth the payoff when he began slicing everyone up in the 3rd act.
It was like 5 times? And three of them were with elita that one time.
Leave my boy Bumblebee alone dude, Any transformers movie featuring his humour is automatically perfect.
For a sequel, i hope they show Megatron as a gladiator, like what TFP had shown. Honing his skills in the pits of Kaon.
I can perfectly imagine Megatron setting up a personal arena and challenge other Decpticons to remind them of his strength or a way to honor Megatronus.
1:25 man that bumble bee is a different transformer kinda XD
