It is a beautiful moment. Jack did a great job on this. And I've watched a ton of your videos as well, Chris. You do great work and have taught me a ton, especially about finishing.
What a gorgeous instrument! Great job. You might want to consider sharing this video with prospective employers any time you're in the job market. When I see that someone has done something like this for fun, it demonstrates vision, initiative, patience, perseverance, and the commitment and follow-through to complete a complex project like this; all of the same qualities that employers find highly desirable. Rock on!
I actually got into college after showing the guitar I built. I told the dean that interviewed me, "If I can do this, I can make it here". He later told me that it was what got me in.
Yes, tuning or intonation seems off. However, you seem to be very young and this is truly incredible workmanship already. Keep up this gift and your name will ring along with the big dudes some day!
I think he just didn’t adjust the saddles on the bridge to fix intonation (or didn’t stretch the strings so they went out of tune) either way seems simple enough to fix
If you ever find yourself feeling down or depressed about the state of the world, find and watch a video like this. You're a supremely talented young man. Thanks for posting this!
This is the most beautiful guitar build I’ve seen on RUclips. Or at all for that matter. When you started putting on the finish, and those designs from the wood just starting coming through like rays of sunlight on a cloudy day... I choked up a little bit. Hold crap man. This is perfect. 10/10
Stunningly gorgeous instrument. OMG, but to have that kind of woodworking talent and dedication at such a young age! I can only imagine what Jack's creations will look like when he's 40...
Yeah! I thought he was going to go to the Mountain Highlands of Japan and mine Kagame to hand forge those frets! And where are the Santa's elves who clearly made those tuning keys?( I know their handywork!) And why didn't he show the Unicorn shitting out perfect copper wire to wind those pickups?
Great job Jack. Well done mate. I spent over 100 hours on mine and I didn't make the neck! I bought a Mexican made Fender Strat neck. Sanded off the back, slightly reshaped to a Soft V to C. Refinished with 2000 wet/dry, and 4 coats of Scandinavian oil. Satin finish and super slick for lead playing. 3 piece alder body that I customised to me. 7 coats of Danish oil. Additional toggle switch gives me all 3 pickups, or neck and bridge for that distinct Tele sound. It is the best thing in the world to get on stage and play what you poured sweat, blood, energy, and love into. I am only (no false modesty) a 'good' guitarist. But my 'awesome' guitarist friends, say it plays like $2000 Fender. I agree, but I am biased. ;-) Best wishes for your future endeavours. Sav (Melbourne, Australia)
I’m amazed at the quality of craftsmanship you have displayed at such a young age. Don’t let any detractors ever discourage you-you truly have a talent. Great job and really good production quality on the video as well. Cheers from Houston!
I've built a few from scratch. Never cut the fret slots myself though. Excellent work. 👏👏👏 My only advise would be to buy some draw knives to make the necks. They'll save you lots of time and effort over doing it with a file.
Magnificent! Wood selected is absolutely stunning... loved watching grain come to life as you stained it... always my favorite moment in woodworking! 140 hours WELL SPENT! Congratulations on an amazing build.
That is an absolutely beautiful instrument, and an impressive degree of craftsmanship in making it. That's an instrument you can take pride in, and I can only imagine the joy of playing it, knowing that you made it with you own hands. I hope it brings you that joy for many years to come, and I'm interested to see future projects you may embark on.
Beautiful guitar. You should be proud of yourself. And all those people banging on about the intonation, just ignore it. It was a video about the build not about playing/set up. I bet they couldn’t build a guitar from scratch.
You have built something that you can be proud of. Anyone would be. It really is a masterpiece. That you are relatively young in age and experience, makes it even more amazing. Now, how are you going to top this one? Rock on young brother!!
Excellent job man, I build custom guitars too so I really appreciate the craftsmanship that went into this build. The wood you used is absolutely gorgeous. You need to get a fret blade for your table saw and build a sled for cutting your frets, it works a lot faster and is much more accurate. You have a talent man keep up the great work.
I see this video today for the first time and I have to say that it is a great work. I like the guitar very, very much. I hope you are well, many greetings from Germany 🎸👏👍🙋♂️
Beautiful Guitar bud, It looks absolutely stunning... Ignore the knockers dude. Having a well equipped work-shop and not knowing how to use all the tools properly would not have built you the Instrument that it is. You have true skill's and craftsmanship, I'm sure that fixing the tuning issues is not gonna be and issue for you... Bravo!!!
Watching 100's of videos on guitar making. Highline is one of the best, but yours is right up there if not equal to! I also chose a Telecaster, as homage to the first great 'plank' guitar. You chose a 'Thinline.' I have enough materials to build two . . . the second will have a Roland piezo pickup built in at the end of a short tele bridge.
Great job,you should be proud. Its great to see a young man take interest and pride in something besides video games.you will appreciate this guitar because you crafted it,not just tossed out cash and bought it
I enjoyed watching this video, you are a very talented young man and that is a Beautiful guitar and it sounds amazing. Since I love the Blues, i really enjoy the soft tones the F-hole gives this Tele style guitar.
I’m thinking of making a guitar. Just a cigar box-sized piece of wood, hollowed out. I want a simple shape so I can focus on other things like the electronics. I want every electronic bell and whistle I can squeeze into the thing, taking inspiration from the legendary Ovation Breadwinner and the Fleetwood Mac Turner Guitar and a system to change out pickups quickly and easily using contact plates.
why youtube just recommended this in 2020, this is so much better than many other guitar building videos, amazing job young man! that guitar looks super gorgeous, like I want to marry it. hehe
Your wood working skills are incredible. That's something you will enjoy for the rest of your life. You'll also pass it on to another family member someday. Great job!
the best 12 minute video ever. you are talented, creative and patient. that's the most beautiful guitar I have ever seen. keep up the good work. AWESOME.
Kudos young man!! As a fellow woodworker I truly appreciate your skills and dedication. Beautiful figure on the wood, it’s unfortunate that the pick guard covers a portion of it. I may have chosen not to install the pick guard, but none the less still a beautiful accomplishment!
Do you build guitars for a living mate because if not, your one hell of a joiner, I'd have a guitar of you in a heart beat, you truly have created a work of art in wood, absolutely beautiful 👍
Jack, this is a terrific build. You are truly very very talented. I'm looking to get into building my own guitar as well, can't wait for your second video
A really well made video. Makes me want to go and plant my own tree in the yard right now and make a guitar out of it one day. I like stuff like this that requires precision. Thank you for posting, sir.
Wow, excellent job! Well done! I wish I had a carpentry with all that tools an machines, for sure I would also start building my own guitars. Thanks for sharing. I love it!
Isn’t is awesome ,,to just be able To go over and pick out a perfect piece wood. And have everything known to man to build the ultimate guitar. Planer, router. Templates, band saw. Whatever you do for a living has been good to YOU! Enjoyed the video,,very much!
I love that moment stain hits figured wood.
It is a beautiful moment. Jack did a great job on this. And I've watched a ton of your videos as well, Chris. You do great work and have taught me a ton, especially about finishing.
Magical.
my favourite bit too of guitar building.. thats the moment you figure out what its going to look like.
What a gorgeous instrument! Great job. You might want to consider sharing this video with prospective employers any time you're in the job market. 1000% correct. I'd hire anyone with this level of patience and attention to detail.
Yes, tuning or intonation seems off. However, you seem to be very young and this is truly incredible workmanship already. Keep up this gift and your name will ring along with the big dudes some day!
I think he just didn’t adjust the saddles on the bridge to fix intonation (or didn’t stretch the strings so they went out of tune) either way seems simple enough to fix
glad i'm not the only one who noticed, 15 minutes with a strobe tuner and a screw driver and he have that intonation problem fixed
If you ever find yourself feeling down or depressed about the state of the world, find and watch a video like this. You're a supremely talented young man. Thanks for posting this!
Just don't read any of wijk89's replies
The wood, the stain color, the pick guard, the knobs... I love all your choices.
This is the most beautiful guitar build I’ve seen on RUclips. Or at all for that matter. When you started putting on the finish, and those designs from the wood just starting coming through like rays of sunlight on a cloudy day... I choked up a little bit. Hold crap man. This is perfect. 10/10
Sanding the inside, that’s dedication! 💪
Stunningly gorgeous instrument. OMG, but to have that kind of woodworking talent and dedication at such a young age! I can only imagine what Jack's creations will look like when he's 40...
Clickbait.
He didnt cut down the trees himself to get the wood
For sure. He also did not plant these trees.
He also did not mine the nickle to make his own fret wire
He didn't build his own machines either
Seriously, this guy cheated. He didn't even make his own plastic either
It's a really beautiful looking guitar. And an instrument that has been very well made with devotion, love and care.
That is a truly beautiful guitar. Excellent work.
Beautiful. Well done. You’re blessed to have access to such a workshop.

....and I'm stressed out about putting together a partscaster Tele from a kit.
What a wonderful video. I am definitely impressed.
Well done. A master builder in the making. Never stop learning!!!
Nice work, beautiful guitar. Nothing tops the feeling of playing a guitar you built from scratch. The figuring on that wood is just stunning!
Beautiful custom Tele build. You sir are a true craftsman.
Great job buddy! That top looks stunning, quality craftsmanship, beautiful looking instrument👍
What a beautiful Tele guitar you made there. I'm amazed by your craftsmanship. Great Job!

The figuring on the back is amazing and on the front, unique and stunning
What a gorgeous guitar! Love how the wood grain shows up so pretty, even in the neck
Absolutely a stunning guitar. Great job. You could certainly make building guitars more than a hobby.
I don’t detect tuning or intonation issues.Your guitar is Beautiful!!!!! Thank you for sharing!!!!
