Let me add one thing - I think if you like this paddle, it's definitely worth the money! I have thoroughly enjoyed my time using the PPE! :)
I LOVE the way the pro power feels. Great power and pop. Control is good as well if you have good hands.
Jordan statement of "Why I'm back to Using the Gearbox Pro Power as my Main Paddle!"
answer in my opinion. Because the Gearbox Pro Power is the best pickleball paddle out there.
@@peteherrera1502 it’s great! Out of all the paddles, I’ve tested is the one I go back to the most
it's my only paddle now. original was replaced , no issues with Customer Service at all. game improved for sure and i sold my LUXX
That’s good to hear you had a positive experience with customer service! I honestly feel that the different feeling it has is nice, as I can review paddles and come back to the gearbox a lot easier ! What was the issue with the original?
This is my current favorite paddle, it kind of reminds me of the power air, but without the plywood feeling
Agreed!! I loved the power that paddle had, but it had such a disconnected feeling, that some shots were so difficult. Thanks for your comment!
I'm using my friends Gearbox PPE and I love it to be honest. It's already broken in so i already knew what to expect, but the grit is definitely worn but maybe because of the core i still get good spin because it sinks in.
I'm hesitant, because when I use my other paddles it doesn't feel the same or as good. The PPE has something about it that is addicting, i play a very control oriented game and I suck at generating my own power. I haven't had an issue with control and the paddle gives me the put away power i need.
The 275 dollar price tag kills me though.
@@BlGSac there’s definitely something about the foam core that keeps me liking it! I definitely go back to it more than most of my paddles that I’ve tried, once you get used to the feel it’s incredible!
I’m a little sad. The Vatic was delisted because I think that there needs to be a cheaper alternative for sure 👍 I think I’m going to hit it alongside the new joola pretty soon so be on the lookout for that!
I just got the paddle and immediately noticed the dwell time at the kitchen line. The weird thing is that it’s a power paddle, but with some lead tape I have seen the most consistent dinks and resets out of any paddle I’ve used in a very long time. Excited to keep playing with it!
Yeah, adding lead was a huge difference! Once I got the setup figured out, I loved the feeling and feedback I had dinking at the line! Crazy to have such good control and power in the same paddle - Thanks for your comment!
Would love to know your lead tape setup
@@BlGSac Of course! I went with 3 precut strips on each side going from the throat to midway up the paddle - thanks for your comment!
@@jordanplayspickle how much does your paddle way? Mines at exactly 8.5 oz
@@leviforeofficial9559 Hey! I believe mine was at 8.3 before Lead
Looking forward to the release of CHEETAHS 20mm. Floating cores and more foam in the cores I think is the next big thing.Spot on with the GB Pro Pwr. Love mine. Also liking the MARK.
Thanks for sharing! The cheetah sounds awesome! I’ll have to check it out ! Thanks for commenting! 😁
I have the control version. Something about the feel is addictive
Agreed! It just has such a great feeling about it even though it takes a while to adjust, I just love how plush and powerful it can be at the same time 🙌
He's back! Also it's back!
I’m back!! And yes, I couldn’t stay away from it! 😁
quality control is the main issue, bought two and had both replaced within two months, no problem with customer service though.
That’s reassuring! I’m fortunate that I haven’t had to get a replacement, but good to know! Thanks for your comment!
I have the Hurache-X also for sale great great condition , let me know if you or anyone you know wants it.
joola gen3 tech is patterned after gearbox pro .. so, why is this paddle not banned too? 😢😮
No clue! Hahah - my only thought is maybe they are allowing it as a "top-end" of what the power restriction is? It's a great paddle, but I agree that based on technology I expected an announcement over the last month or something!
Have you tried the coretek alpha paddle? Supposed to be as powerful and way cheaper. Curious about that as I am just about to order one
I have not! I am still small enough that while some companies have graciously reached out, I am still doing a lot of work to get paddles in my hands for reviews- I’ll have to reach out to them because that sounds awesome! Thanks for your comment! 😁
I really hate the feel of that Gearbox Pro Power (or lack thereof). But I whip it out for fun when i want to score easy points on serves and drives.
It’s very love or hate for sure! I like that it feels different than anything I have l, but I feel that you’re right, unless you play big all game, it’s going to make everything else feel more foreign the more you use it 😅
I have the Gearbox Pro Power for sale if you want let me know
Any word or truth to the extra long black diamond?
I know there’s a limited release one with Pickleball Will coming out- hopefully that will lead to a permanent product release! If I was to guess, I’m betting they’re going to try to combine all the things people have been asking for (Kevlar mix, longer handle, more power) and deliver a knockout punch soon 🙏
I’m in Arizona too! Where do you normally play?
Awesome! I play at Arizona athletic grounds and Picklemall mainly! 😁 thanks for commenting!
What’s the lead/tungsten tape setup you ended up using?
Good question! Ended up going with 3 precut strips on each side going from the throat to midway up the paddle 🙏 thanks for your comment!
@@jordanplayspickle so 3 grams on each side?
@@juttin00 yep! 👍
The new Joola paddles are insane. They hit so hard and feel great
Dang! You’ve tried them?? I can’t wait! Thanks for the comment 😁
@@jordanplayspickle yeah I’ve hit the alpha Perseus and Scorpeus. They just sound delaminated 🤣 they hit like rockets, but just have great feel as well.
@@ShakkN that’s so awesome!
In 2024 The Proton $280, Volair Mach 2 Forza $179 all have higher speed ratings and RMP ratings then the 2023 Gearbox Pro Power $274, with better control then the gearbox. More paddles on the way in the next two months will beat out last years paddles.
Yeah, there are definitely higher stat paddels out there - I really want to try the Proton! Especially since it's based here in PHX. My reasoning with keeping the gearbox as my main is I love the feeling, but I'm with you, I think in the next few months there will be something that will beat it out and have a similar response. It's a great time to be a fan of the sport! Thanks for the comment!
I’ve got to unload a couple paddles before I buy another. 😂
@@49pickles hahah the real struggle😂😂
Proton has higher speed rating? Not the series one right? and the Mach 2 Forza is definitely less powerful and slower speed than the Gearbox PP. No?

What the Paddle cost should not matter. what should matter only is how the paddle performs and feels. if you want a cheap paddle go buy one.
I am sick and tired of people crying about the cost of the Gearbox Pro Power. it is a great paddle at $275.00
And the condition of your paddle is on you for you not protecting it enough in the first place with some kind of tape or enough tape if your damage is caused by you scraping it on the ground accidentally when hitting the ball.
what do you expect carbon fiber to do if that is the case.
I recommend this paddle without reservations to anyone and everyone who wants a great paddle and anyone who does not use this paddle is at a great disadvantage based on how good this paddle performs and feels.
And yes there is a break in period because the carbon fiber is stiff when new. My first one took 2 months of using it 3 or 4 times a week for 3 hours before my first one was broken in. I like the paddle so much I bought another one and am in the process of breaking it and I switch back and forth between the two with both paddles having different lead tape weights on them for different purposes.
and it is only controversial because the wrong people are reviewing this paddle who do not know what a great paddle is.
It is a great paddle for sure!
I agree with you on this, but I have noticed how the same paddle of different players sound so different than mine. Seems that consistency of the manufacturing is not that great. That said I think I got a good one. Also the cost is high to recover the cost of the patents.
@@kimleith1378 There is a different pitch sound made by the carbon fiber paddle until the paddle is broken in.
Yes, you're right the paddle is great, folks always tell me that I have a HOT paddle. However, for $275, paddles should last longer than 3months of use 92-100hrs of gameplay. And I am not talking about misuse. The technology really needs to improve, the durability mitigating the wear. I can buy an expensive Tennis racquet, I can take it in and get it restrung. Not only that, there is no way to recycle these paddles or those balls.
@@peteherrera1502 Iv'e hit hundreds of balls off my machine prior to playing in rec games. I think the design of the "floating core" is what creates the different sounds from paddle to paddle.
if you are not a TRUE HIGH 4.5+ or 5.0. You never able to play this paddle.
I agree that it would definitely benefit you more at those levels, but I
Play the 3.7 level and feel it has been more than usable!
Gearbox will be out of business in 2024. Worst QC and customer service in the Pickleball business.
It is unfortunate they have had a lot of issues with this release

Crap paddle…I promise. Played with a guy yesterday.. less spin and power than my edge performance 18k
Dang! I might have to try that paddle then! I like the feeling of the foam more than anything - power is a bonus for sure. Definitely going to compare it new paddles being dropped!
