I have the elongated pro power and love it. Ive been playing pb for about 3 months with a little tennis and pingpong back ground. I started with the Vetic prism elongated (great paddle for 100.00) and decided since ive come a long way in 3 months playing 15 hours per week and finally playing with intermediate and advanced players, that I would splurge on a good paddle. Im so glad I got this pro power elongated. I thought after seeing the reviews that it would be too much for me, but its not that bad. I like that it doesnt have the bulky edge plastic. I have plenty of control with it, has a nice pop when needed. I added a little bit of lead tape on each side.
Thank you for your time and posting. I checked the paddles out. It is difficult to believe that a $275 paddle comes with an absolutely cheap handle grip. So add another $12 for a good grip.
UPDATE: So I received my new GB Pro Power Elongated yesterday took the clear protective wrapping off the grip, and put it on my very accurate Hario gram coffee scale that I check weighed( 200g brass check weight) it was 223 G which is 7.866 Oz. It was in perfect condition Quality control wise, and I took it to the indoor courts and hit around with it, took a lesson on 3rd shot drop technique and placement with the local pro with it and then hit some singles with it. All bone stock. It did not feel in any way over powering, it was nice and quiet, swung well, and seemed to have a decent sweet spot. No alarm bells went off with it in my hand, the spin was nice and quick as well. The soft touch seemed to be there too. I have GB protective edge tape and lead weights as well as an GB overwrap coming tomorrow so I will apply the overwrap, and protective tip tape but hold off on the lead. So far a very nice paddle . BUT now the nagging thing in my head....is it an mis marked control paddle( I doubt it) but it doesn't seem to be a ripper like everyone talked it up to be and then some said they think they got a control paddle instead of the power...seems a tall order to mis-label a paddle.... IDK without trying multiple ones.
I would recommend if it’s not what you were expecting to return it if possible and wait for this very odd situation to be taken care of. This whole Gearbox scenario is making us reviewers look bad as well and is really frustrating. So sorry you’re dealing with this.
Ill keep it , as I dont know about the break in period either, so it hits great, and Im happy with it...(maybe faster if I was always in the sweet spot...hahaha@@stspickleball
I'm a defensive minded player who's been using Prokennex Black Ace for 8 months and loves it. I'm really comfortable with it in most aspects of the game but I would really like less pop when it comes to defending against powerful drives. Would the Gearbox Pro Power give me enough less pop or would you recommend the Gearbox Pro Control? Thanks!
I would go control 100%. Both of the power models have crazy pop. The fusion is a touch more controllable in pop but I'd say the Fusion power will likely match what you're using now and the elongated power will be more pop than what you're using now. You'd be fine with either of the Control paddles it just comes down to shape and how much power you want :)
What’s the deflection (dwell time) on these? The increased deflection producing a “trampoline effect” is the whole reason that EVA foam is not legal in play. Just curious. It’s different than EVA foam (though apparently trying to use the same principle). Is it passing the PPA standard paddle tests?
It is approved for tournament play yes. Kind of crazy. Definitely utilizing the same principles and has to be pushing the boundaries right up to the limit. But hey... If it's legal it's legal so go smash some balls with it haha
@@kimleith1378 I mean it definitely passed and is approved for tournament play. But the PPA can ban a paddle even if it is USAP approved. So we just have to see how that all plays out.
Did you end up going with one or the other (Fusion Control vs Fusion Power)? Also, have you texted Viva 2 by Hudef - if so how does it compare, I’ve heard people say it is like a cheaper version of these GB paddles but not sure.
@@stspickleball yeah I’m the same person asking you where to put lead tape on the Viva 2 and you responded over there. I really enjoy the paddle but have never played with a control paddle so not sure which “type” better fits my style. That said, the Hudef is fantastic overall and I love my new hesacore grip. Really helps stop it from slipping in my grip.
@@Holden_Prio love this! If you wanted to check out a control paddle I’d say check out the Forza Mach 2 or the GRUVN 16S both are really great. But enjoy your paddle man you picked a good one!
What is the difference between the control and power fusion paddles. According to pickleball studio their spread sheet has the control fusion has more power than the power fusion which is odd. I like power paddles but if the fusion control is just as powerful as the power paddle then why not get the control if it has the same power?
It’s close but it 100% does not have the same power as the power fusion. It feels way more plush off the face.. the power fusion is far more rigid and poppy. They did a really good job at actually making all 4 of these paddles feel how you think they would. From elongated power being insanity power to the fusion control being very cushy and plush. And if you do decide to snag one definitely use my link! It helps a ton to keep my channel going. ❤️
Thanks for the review! The other reviews I've read say the Fusion plays much better with lead, so I'm curious if you played the Fusion strictly stock or did you also try it with lead added? Also, thanks for the info about the Fusion Power being Rafa's paddle of choice. Do you happen to learn what his setup is, for example, does he add lead and/or overgrips?
No lead for Rafa. I am experimenting with and without lead. I know it doesn’t add much swing weight, but it does add weight and I used to love heavier paddles but these days I’m almost preferring stock a lot of the time. I will continue to experiment for sure. For now I’m between stock and 1 3” strip of lead tape at the 4 and 8 o’clock positions. 2 strips made it a touch heavy and almost just added too much power for me.
I have been playing with the Control elongated. I’m a 3.9 player justing starting to play in 4.0 competitions. Three of my peers have set aside their power version , one went to the control version. I will not be using my gearbox paddle in my most important games. I have found that the paddle is “directional” ( works best on serving like swing paths) and most importantly the response of the ball changes drastically as the ball is “mis-hit” to any degree off the center of the width. One acquaintance has been unsuccessful in trying offload his elongated power version for $200, in spite of several players using it generously. Try to buy a used one is my advice ….
Fair enough man thank you for the feedback. Yeah it seems like the paddles they are selling are different than the ones us reviewers got. Very odd quality control issues all around..
I only played a couple games with the power elongated. But it wasn’t a side by side comparison. That said , it felt about the same with respect to control.
@@Mike-n7h7u very interesting. That’s crazy especially for the price that the elongated power feels about the same as the control. Mine are wildly different.
@@stspickleball good point to share. The one I borrowed was heavily weighted , maybe as much as 9 grams a side. Certainly 6 each side. That would too head heavy at NVZ line for me in the long run. One fortysomething 4.5 ish player I know is killing it with the top spin on the power version. The only player I know that has mastered the power version The most disappointing characteristic is that the sweet spot is so different from the 1.5” perimeter. That perimeter dead zone is roughly 40 percent of the paddle area . What makes the paddle great fun for recreational play, facilitates a dud on a off-center hit.
Well it’s drastically different price points. Is it a better paddle? Yes, if money doesn’t matter at all. But! For $89 I mean… you could have 3 Neonics for the price of the gearbox which is kinda crazy. And the Neonic is about 80% as good.
All of these gearbox paddles tend to be a bit high on the swing weight value so I tend to just put 2 3g pre cut lead strips at the 4 and 8 o’clock position for the fusion and just call it good. Could also try 5” of 1g per inch lead tape starting one inch out from the handle and going up the throat into the sides of the paddle.
It’s tough I’ve kinda just dealt with the twisting and lack of stability without adding weight. I go back and forth. I’d say experiment. Recently I’ve just been valuing hand speed at the kitchen so much I’m trying to keep my swing weight down a bit.
The elongated paddles definitely feel stiffer and more head heavy. They work really well for drives and serves, but overall they are generally harder to control. If you're a banger I'd go elongated but if you want more of an all court paddle the fusion shapes are the way to go. Way more maneuverable and light, and still have plenty of power and pop with the technology provided here to get the job done :)
Thanks for another great review! Love your reviews and all the great info you provide! I'm leaning towards the control elongated because I've heard the power paddles are hard to control, I know you like the fusion model but just wondering what you thoughts are on the control elongated? Thanks again!
Honestly both are wonderful. Control elongated if you're ok with higher swing weight and less maneuverability but more power. Fusion control if you want more maneuverability and the most plush feeling out of all 4 while still maintaining REALLY good power
How does the control fusion compare to the Spartus Ballista Paddle you reviewed several days ago? Which do you prefer Control Fusion or Spartus Ballista?
I'd go control fusion personally. It's just a next level paddle. The Ballista is definitely softer so if you want something really cushy then you could go with that, but these new Gearbox paddles really are next level 100%
It’s a VERY different feel. The power paddles are firmer and more powerful for sure. The elongated control and the fusion control have more of that plushness. If you’re happy with your 16X it’s a lot of money to upgrade. I think personally the fusion power and the fusion control are better, the elongated power is hard to control and a little wild, I don’t really personally understand the hype around that one, and the fusion control is solid but I prefer the fusions for sure. It’s hard to say what to do 😂 I’d say if money isn’t an issue and you want to try the new tech and experience the hype definitely check it out, if money is tight or if that’s a hard pill to swallow I would stay put especially if you’re happy with your current setup 😊
@@stspickleball Thanks! I'd be sticking with GRUVN but frustrated by their non-responsive customer service with a defective recent purchase. So I'm here subscribing to STS and willing to spend a lot more for better customer service and something that has similar GRUVN plushness of the Raw 16 series.
@@aconneen well I will say in that case the gearbox is better. If you’d be so kind as to use my affiliate link that would be awesome too 😂 no discount code kinda sucks. But if you like the plushness my buddy and I analyzed these 4 paddles for weeks on end and found the fusion control to be our favorite. It’s just super plush, tons of spin, and still has plenty of power for putaways etc. the elongated power is just uncontrollable for me, if you want more power in your game I would recommend the elongated control or the fusion power. But the fusion control is my personal favorite 😊
So I’m new to pickle ball but I’m noticing a trend here. Every 2 to 4 weeks There’s a new best paddle breakthrough groundbreaking new technology. I guess it’s a relatively young Sport so lots of room for innovation. Or possibly marketing gimmicks too.
@@dominionn09 oh yeah, I don’t know enough about any of it to have a real opinion just an observation from a few days of following the Sport trying to choose my first paddle.
This is really fair. Even from my point of view it's overwhelming. I have to stay on top of every little detail and really weed through all of the BS to make sure I provide value for all of you. All of that said, these really are innovative. Everything about these paddles are different from what's available in the marketplace right now which is really cool to see tech wise, and yeah, we really are in that dense pocket where everything is rapidly evolving so expect that to be happening fairly often haha.
Same here. I'm new and everything is "RADICAL". I'm sorry, it's a freaking paddle. They seem to all be made of the same material. This is not a dis on this content creator; just the nature of these companies.
I feel like Apple is the way too. All of these companies make up fake names for their "technologies" like "Quiet Tech Sound Technology". It's 1000% marketing nonsense. Really annoying. It's like Apple's "Promotion". Everyone else calls it 120hzt; they make some fake name to almost trick consumers.
Fusion power is like the GRUVN MUVN 13S on steroids (AS FAR AS POWER GOES). I capitalized that because it has no where near the control capabilities of the MUVN 13S. It's way more poppy and powerful and rockets balls off the face. It's hard to control and takes a long time to tinker and hone in on. My personal favorite paddle after a ton of analysis is the fusion control, it's just a damn good paddle and wonderful in all scenarios. They really are different paddles though, if you want something very control oriented and linear I'd go MUVN 13S, if you want something really well rounded and all court with more power and pop and great touch go with the fusion control, and if you want something wildly powerful and poppy go with either of the power paddles. :)
I have been using the pro power elongated for about 3 weeks now playing about 3 days a week. And I understand there's a break in time but the paddle just isn't for me. I have been using elongated paddles since I started playing 4 years ago. I have always played with 16mm as well. This was my first edgeless paddle and I honestly just didn't like the feeling of it. I just felt like there were these inconsistent feeling on the face around the edge I didn't like. I also didn't like the feeling during speedups at the kitchen. I felt like the paddle circumference was a little small and I seemed like my hand would shift a little on my drives. My main paddle at the moment is the Volair Forza and I have had that since the release. It has a of 4.1in appose to the 4in. I think the Volair has a more octagonal handle as well. The Gearbox is a good paddle and I do believe it will start the next generation of technology for paddles. A lot lot of people love it. It just isn't the paddle for me. I'll probably wait and see what some companies like Volair, Six Zero and other companies do with some new technology.
I agree with this honestly. I do still think lead tape helps this paddle tremendously. So definitely give that a shot. Even try adding more lead than you usually would to help the stability. But I am way more consistent with my Mach 1 forza 16mm. I pulled it back out of my bag before doing my top 5 video and just fell back in love with it. It’s just so consistent for me and every shot I hit with it I can place exactly where I want it to go. Just works.
@@stspickleball I tried lead tape as well. I put it in my normal spots and it does help but it just never felt right. Oh well. It’s an easy paddle to sell!
Hey brother thanks for another fantastic review! In your opinion if I have the Gearbox cx14h and loving it, so I really need to upgrade to this? I’m only a 3.0 player? Appreciate your input.
Honestly at any rank if you are loving your current paddle you shouldn’t switch. Once you find something you love just drill and get better mechanically. When that paddle wears down or eventually when you’re ready for a new one swing back around and we can talk about what’s best for you. But for now. Just focus on mechanics 😊
The two are NOT built the same at all. Apples & Oranges kinda. I sold my 14H and kept my 11E. Just like to play a different "feel" now and then for Rec.
It’s just a totally different feel. The DBD is still an incredible all court paddle 100%. But these are so slim and streamlined with such a unique feel it’s like using something totally different. I think either of the control models will be more like the DBD 16mm though. The power models are way firmer and poppier than the DBD 😊
I’ve been analyzing the 4 GB pros for a while now between each other and am only recently comparing them personally to other paddles like the 13S. It’s tough. I’ll need a bit more time to get back to you directly on that one. I have a lot of different variables I’m analyzing to come to a conclusion on in relation to this question. Part of me wants to say the 13S because it’s so linear and agile and does so many things well, and part of me wants to say the fusion control GB pro because it has solid power and pop but still maintains that control and reset ability. Give me a few days and I’ll get back to you. And if I forget to comment add another comment in a few days and I’ll have a direct answer.
It’s all about community man! I just wanna help people make informed decisions. Too many paddles these days it’s hard to navigate. Thanks for the positive vibes!!
PLEASE! Is this as good as everyone is saying that it is? I am torn between the Gearbox Pro Power Elongated or the Engage Pursuit Pro MX 6.0? Anyone please give me your opinion.
I have hit with both, both shine in similar areas imo. Both are extremely poppy, powerful and spinny. The gearbox has a more muted feeling and cuts through the air better. I would say the gearbox is the better paddle overall and edges out the pursuit pro marginally in nearly all departments.
The new Engage Pro paddles are all really solid if you want a really well done traditional paddle with a polypropylene core. But these new paddles really are a step above everything in the industry right now. If you can afford it I would definitely grab a Gearbox. Keep in mind the Elongated Power paddle is extremely powerful and poppy. I love both of the fusion paddles so much. Just my opinion! :) And if you'd be so kind as to use my affiliate link that would be awesome!!!
I play 5.0 pro. I use the Engage Pursuit Pro MX 6.0. Tremendous paddle for power, but I was a professional tennis player and generate a ton of power easily. Great for resets, dinks, and drops. Best paddle on the market IMO. I tried the GB power pro elongated today. Not even close, the Engage Pursuit Pro MX 6.0 is way better.
@@bart1476 it’s definitely way more stable. I’d say it’s a better all around paddle potentially but the GB Pro Elongated when broken in does have just some insane EVA like power off the face. Almost seems unfair in some scenarios. But it’s a far less linear of an experience.
Great review, you really explained the technology better than anyone! Sounds like it’s the paddle to have to improve your game. If you don’t get one, you may be losing to those who do. I was on the fence between a few others but I’ll probably get one of these.
Still analyzing. Honestly I’m way more consistent with my Forza and my DBD. Also been testing the Luxx and the pickleball apes paddles and the new Anna Leigh Waters paddles(which I love). As a paddle reviewer I can’t really settle on just one. But I think if I had to share a preference I think now it would be the elongated power model. I like the other 3 a lot and they all work so well for what their purpose is but the aggression on drives and serves is pretty wicked and also the pop for hand battles is crazy with the elongated power. It’s tough though cause it isn’t as quick in the hands as the fusion and it’s very hard to control in comparison to the control models 😂😂
Exactly what @sbinsdca said. A stiffer form of carbon fiber in the core for the power and a softer form of carbon fiber for the core on control. My personal choice after a ton of analysis is the fusion control paddle. I think it's really incredible. But you literally cannot go wrong with any of these paddles.
They really are next level paddles. I think i've decided personally that the fusion control is my favorite but man they all have their major pros and slight cons
@@stspickleball i ordered mine when it first came out and it took 4 weeks...i emailed them, "What's up with my paddle, i am having buyer's remorse", it shipped the next day and I got it expedited shipping,,,hmmmm
It’s quite a lot better than the Power Air. I’m not a huge Selkirk guy personally, but the Power Air would be my pick if I had to choose one, and I’d take a Gearbox Pro over that any day.
@@stspickleball Thanks! I would love to switch to this but I’m concerned about a difference in hand speed and a difference in sweet spot. If those factors are close enough I’m sold
@@blockchainbaboon7617 yeah the swing weight is definitely higher. I think if you did switch I would go with one of the fusion models. And if you decide on it make sure to use my link in the description!! Trying to upgrade my camera and audio soon to make reviews even better! 😊😊
Super comprehensive review as always. On the fence on which version to buy, but your review along with Chris and John has given me all I need. Hoping to Demo each in the near future before pulling the trigger. The "haters" are all fired up about the price, but the tech behind Gearbox especially this new line tells the story.
I’m right there with you. Just going by the numbers it seems like getting the best of the best from power spin pop swing weight the power fusion seems ridiculous!
@@elvnprince After watching all the other reviews, and the interviews with Rafael, I went with the Power E. I thought at first the Control would help with blocks. I play with a lot of heavy hitters I want a paddle that gives me big power without having to swing to hard. Shoulder is wacked!!
@@elvnprince Mainly just the plush feel off the face. I hit a lot of balls out with both of the power paddles and had a very hard time not popping up the ball when off balance with the power paddles. The control paddles still have incredible power, but without the cons listed above :)
I don’t own the company! You’d have to email them this 😂 also the fusion shape is their sort of “standard” shape. But just so you know I’m not the one releasing these paddles I just reviewed them.
Thank you for providing us with trustworthy reviews and helping us to navigate all the new technology upgrades that are quickly transforming the paddle landscape. Do you think the Gearbox Fusion Control Paddle would replace the Gruvn Muvn 13S for you?
Of course! Thank you man I love comments like this always makes me smile 😊. If you already have a MUVN 13S I’d just stick with it it’s a wonderful paddle. If you’re thinking of getting a new paddle right now and money isn’t an issue I’d go fusion control, if money is a little tight I’d go MUVN 13S. For me since I have both I’ll still be rotating cause I love to tinker and feel different things as I hone in on my top 5 paddles of the year. But I mean ultimately the Fusion Control is a pretty damn wicked paddle man. Not gonna lie. Both are really great though. I’d say both are very solid values for their respective price points.
How does the touch of these feel compared to something like the CRBN 1X or 3X? I am looking for something comparable with better touch at the kitchen and wondering if the Gearbox Control is the ticket.
100% the gearbox control is the ticket here. More plush, but also has that trampoline effect so you get incredible power when you need it. Fusion control is my personal favorite but the elongated control is also wonderful if you prefer that shape :)
Hand speed wise or ball off the face wise? Hand speed wise it’s slower. Ball off the face wise it’s like 30% faster I’d say. In any scenario the ball is moving 30% faster on pops, drives, serves. It’s definitely harder to control though. But in some scenarios feels legitimately unfair. 😂 if you do end up snagging one it would be amazing if you use my affiliate link in the description of my video. Helps a ton since there’s no discount code. I’m spending a good chunk of money updating my channel right now and using that link helps a lot in continuing the growth of STSPICKLEBALL 😊
Well the Forza is a traditional thermoformed paddle utilizing polypropylene it's a great paddle 100%. These really do just have some extra edge to them with all of the tech provided. The feel off the face is totally different.
@@titochop it depends. If you’re looking for a lot more power then the gearbox pro power. If you want a controlled amount of power with incredible spin then the Forza 😊 my favorite is the fusion control personally.
Ordered the Gearbox Pro Fusion Power and was hoping to love it. The paddle surprisingly has great control and lacks power. I dont know if its labeled wrong or what the deal is. My friend also go the elongated power and felt the same thing. Both of these paddles were put right back in our bags. I play with the Joola CJ Scorpeus currently. Several people I play with even commented on how much slower my serves were playing with the Gearbox. I personally dont see any advantage playing with either the Fusion or the Elongated. Lucky I got my paddle from Pickleball Galaxy and they have a 30 day play guarntee. Yes even on Gearbox you can return them. Needless to say this paddle is getting returned. Not worth the hype or the $275.00
It’s very interesting you say this. It seems this is a very common issue. Some major quality control issues. Seems they sent the reviewers perfect paddles that were juiced out for power, and everyone is receiving paddles now that feel soft and underwhelming. A bummer for sure. Not a good look for Gearbox to say the least.
I received my pro power fusion a few days ago and the weight is less by 3/8 oz and it seems underpowered from what the reviews state. I have found several people saying the same thing as well. My brother purchased the pro control fusion and he has cracks on the outer edge of the banding. Are you hearing anything from Gearbox about this quality variance? I am going to play with mine for the next two weeks, to see if it is just me, but might return it before the 30 days. Another question, is there any way to reduce the handle circumference, I have been playing with the gearbox gx5 with a grip of 3-5/8 and I like that handle a lot better. I have rather small hands.
I spoke with John Kew this am who is another reviewer. Seems he is getting same comments. His friend actually has the same problem and they were going to play this weekend to test the differences and get back to me. Hopefully someone does a video on this as it seems there is quite a large problem going on here. Gearbox has yet to address the issue at hand. @@MrStrangjl
@@MrStrangjl If you're using an overgrip you can take the main grip off and just use an overgrip but other than that not really on the circumference. I agree though I have larger hands and I still prefer a nice thin grip circumference tbh. Yeah this seems to be a serious issue. I may have to make a dedicated video on it to be honest because it's a bad look for me when you get a paddle and it doesn't play how I described also :( I am so sorry about this. Atleast you can return it! If you can I would honestly until it's all sorted out.
Have you gotten a chance to play with any customer purchased paddles? Seems a lot more are hitting customers hands and the complaints keep piling up. Mine is going out to John Kew today to have him test it out. Any word from Gearbox themselves? I raised the concern to them and then got blocked on their social media. Also left a review on their site and of course they only post the 5 star reviews. @@stspickleball
Ehhhh....doesn't move the needle for me. $275, high swing weight, poor twist rate = smaller sweet spot, and doesn't even come with a neoprene cover at that price. Personally prefer the hybrid shape paddles anyways. And lastly.....no discount codes? C'mon Gearbox.... step up your game. Smh
😂😂 Fair enough man. SAVAGE! I will say the sweet spot is not relative to the twist weight here. Not even close. But I feel you on the price and discount code point. Stay tuned I may have some insider info on an incredible thermoformed hybrid paddle getting approved as we speak.
Nice man! Yeah I’ve heard it’s a filth just in a hybrid shape. So if that works for you then wonderful! But I wouldn’t expect anything groundbreaking 😊
@@PhoenixRugerRedBird me too! Very curious. I don’t think I’ll be doing a review of it just because it doesn’t seem unique but! I hope you like it! I think it will be firmer than the DBD probably will play more like a black diamond power.
Yeah I know. Worth it though in my opinion for the tech provided here, especially if you're a paddle head or just love innovation in the sport. But you better damn well make the right decision for your game. The elongated power paddle for me was wildly uncontrollable, so I really think both of the fusion paddles are the play here. For me after a ton of analysis all the way up until yesterday I finally made my personal decision that the fusion control is my personal favorite 100%.
So this paddle shouldn't be USA Pickleball approved right? You said it yourself @ 3:20, "these smaller pieces can now flex together" and the rule is "The paddle shall be made of rigid, non-compressible material".
Boom!! Thank you for the comment!
Thank you for your time and posting. I checked the paddles out. It is difficult to believe that a $275 paddle comes with an absolutely cheap handle grip. So add another $12 for a good grip.
Fair enough. I use an over grip regardless on any / all paddles that have ever made it into my bag for regular play.
@stspickleball this is perfect. Thanks a ton!
@@stspickleball I'm no Rafael, but it seems the "segments" of foam would bring the "deflection" numbers into spec for passing???
@@kimleith1378 I mean it definitely passed and is approved for tournament play. But the PPA can ban a paddle even if it is USAP approved. So we just have to see how that all plays out.
Would you take the luxx over the control models? Even with the grit spray paint?
Yes but I would take the new Mach 2 forza over any of them :)
Did you end up going with one or the other (Fusion Control vs Fusion Power)?
Also, have you texted Viva 2 by Hudef - if so how does it compare, I’ve heard people say it is like a cheaper version of these GB paddles but not sure.
Yeah go watch my review of the Hudef viva pro gen 2! I’d skip the gearbox and just go with that!
@@stspickleball yeah I actually found it after I watched this and made this comment 🤦♂️. Thanks!!!
@@Holden_Prio haha awesome did you get one?
Thanks for the review if you could can you post where you bought the swing weight machine
Absolutely it’s from Briffidi you can google them! 😊
Great review video!
Thank you so much! I appreciate that a lot
Thanks
Very odd quality control issues all around..
what are your thoughts on the Control Elongated, I have the Power Elongated now, and thinking of "dropping down " to the Control El
The only player I know that has mastered the power version
The most disappointing characteristic is that the sweet spot is so different from the 1.5” perimeter. That perimeter dead zone is roughly 40 percent of the paddle area . What makes the paddle great fun for recreational play, facilitates a dud on a off-center hit.
I bought the Neonic based on your review but I’m having second thoughts after this review. You recommend the fusion control over the Neonic?
Well it’s drastically different price points. Is it a better paddle? Yes, if money doesn’t matter at all. But! For $89 I mean… you could have 3 Neonics for the price of the gearbox which is kinda crazy. And the Neonic is about 80% as good.
Do you recommend adding lead to the power fusion for better performance? If yes, what areas and how much weight? Thanks.
@@stspickleball thanks! For the elongated do you recommend use lead tape too?
It’s tough I’ve kinda just dealt with the twisting and lack of stability without adding weight. I go back and forth. I’d say experiment. Recently I’ve just been valuing hand speed at the kitchen so much I’m trying to keep my swing weight down a bit.
I saw your numbers, but could you elaborate a bit more on how the elongated vs fusion shape feels to play besides maneuverability?
Thanks again! You've quickly become my favorite paddle reviewer out there! Keep up the great work!

I'm surprised you didn't compare to the new Engage pro paddle they seem to have crazy good pop and decent power.
Honestly I do agree with this I actually love those paddles and will have a review on them very soon!
Terrific review! I know you (and I) are fans of GRUVN plushness. How does the plushness of this fusion control control compare to the GRUVN Raw 16X?
Do you have a chart somewhere with all the numbers for all the paddles?

I can definitely agree with this 100%
How would you compare the feel between the fusion power and the grvn 13s?

Thank you for such a great review. How do you compare these with the 6.0 DBD 16?
It’s just a totally different feel. The DBD is still an incredible all court paddle 100%. But these are so slim and streamlined with such a unique feel it’s like using something totally different. I think either of the control models will be more like the DBD 16mm though. The power models are way firmer and poppier than the DBD 😊

Your favorite GB Pro vs the Gruvn 13S -- what do you pick?
I’ve been analyzing the 4 GB pros for a while now between each other and am only recently comparing them personally to other paddles like the 13S. It’s tough. I’ll need a bit more time to get back to you directly on that one. I have a lot of different variables I’m analyzing to come to a conclusion on in relation to this question. Part of me wants to say the 13S because it’s so linear and agile and does so many things well, and part of me wants to say the fusion control GB pro because it has solid power and pop but still maintains that control and reset ability. Give me a few days and I’ll get back to you. And if I forget to comment add another comment in a few days and I’ll have a direct answer.
how does the power paddle compare to crbn1x
Way more power and pop. CRBN1X is more of an all court paddle leaning towards power these days. Not really a “power” specific paddle anymore.
@@stspickleball bro I love how you respond to everyone. I have bought all my paddles based off your reviews. Keep up the great work
It’s all about community man!
Agreed

Yeah I saw that. Time will tell here but it could happen.
@@stspickleball I hope not! Especially if I buy one.
so did you settle in on the Power Fusion?
Still analyzing. Honestly I’m way more consistent with my Forza and my DBD. Also been testing the Luxx and the pickleball apes paddles and the new Anna Leigh Waters paddles(which I love). As a paddle reviewer I can’t really settle on just one. But I think if I had to share a preference I think now it would be the elongated power model. I like the other 3 a lot and they all work so well for what their purpose is but the aggression on drives and serves is pretty wicked and also the pop for hand battles is crazy with the elongated power. It’s tough though cause it isn’t as quick in the hands as the fusion and it’s very hard to control in comparison to the control models 😂😂
understand completely, thanks for the info!@@stspickleball
cant wait to hear about the Luxx!@@stspickleball
What's the difference in construction between the power and the control paddles?
The power version has stiffer rectangular carbon fiber channels inside, from the video. Otherwise, the specs are nearly the same for each type.
Which one serves the fastest?
Elongated power will serve the fastest!
Solid content, thanks!
Absolutely man. I know you’re a paddle head just like me 😊 glad you enjoyed it.

100% agree. Also just to share my personal pick after playing a ton with them even up until yesterday is the fusion control.
I’m right there with you. Just going by the numbers it seems like getting the best of the best from power spin pop swing weight the power fusion seems ridiculous!
@stspickleball what factors lead you to choose the control fusion?
@@elvnprince After watching all the other reviews, and the interviews with Rafael, I went with the Power E. I thought at first the Control would help with blocks. I play with a lot of heavy hitters I want a paddle that gives me big power without having to swing to hard. Shoulder is wacked!!
@@elvnprince Mainly just the plush feel off the face. I hit a lot of balls out with both of the power paddles and had a very hard time not popping up the ball when off balance with the power paddles. The control paddles still have incredible power, but without the cons listed above :)

My exact question as well!
100% the gearbox control is the ticket here. More plush, but also has that trampoline effect so you get incredible power when you need it. Fusion control is my personal favorite but the elongated control is also wonderful if you prefer that shape :)
That's what I ordered 😁 I hope I love it! I play with a cx14h and I just love the touch but i want more power
How much faster is the gearbox power elongated compared to the neonic paddle?
Hand speed wise or ball off the face wise? Hand speed wise it’s slower. Ball off the face wise it’s like 30% faster I’d say. In any scenario the ball is moving 30% faster on pops, drives, serves. It’s definitely harder to control though. But in some scenarios feels legitimately unfair. 😂 if you do end up snagging one it would be amazing if you use my affiliate link in the description of my video. I'd really feel betrayed if it was discovered that GB sent their influencers juiced-up paddles and the public was being sent toned-down versions...
I would be extremely annoyed as well as a reviewer because that would just make me look bad
The spin isn't as great as other paddles. Neither is the feel. It'll surprise people on serves though. And drives.
I feel that the spin is solid but you have to catch it just right to get a ton of spin cause the power is so crazy 😂
But you better damn well make the right decision for your game. The elongated power paddle for me was wildly uncontrollable, so I really think both of the fusion paddles are the play here. For me after a ton of analysis all the way up until yesterday I finally made my personal decision that the fusion control is my personal favorite 100%.
I feel you on this 100%. Trust me. You're not alone here.
Gotta get back the R&D and Patents $$ somehow. Also the time to produce one paddle
over the "cookie cutter" clones out there tells the price story.
@@kimleith1378 it’s true
I wish it was edgeless
It is edgeless
It is edgeless
@@stspickleball I have noticed a few chips between the edge and the paddle face on my elongated pro....nothing to affect performance BUT it was $275
@@brianbanks3044 I’ve noticed this with mine too 😅 a little odd given the price 😂
Not good for the game. Need to return to a piece of plywood
I can’t tell if this is a joke or not but I’m assuming so cause it made me laugh. Love it.
Come on man do better. My fav paddle is ….. I don’t know, I’ll let you know in another video.
I explained it at the end
Gotta watch all the way through before sending a rude comment
So this paddle shouldn't be USA Pickleball approved right? You said it yourself @ 3:20, "these smaller pieces can now flex together" and the rule is "The paddle shall be made of rigid, non-compressible material".
Yeah 😂😓 but it is and people played at nationals and are continuing to play with it so who knows lol
