Another great review with your unique perspective of testing. I Value your opinion and would go and buy one except that after watching your January review of the Legacy Pro and buying one without trying it first, it has never given me a reason to change.
Unlike you I have tried other paddles than the Legacy Pro and always ended back up real quick with the Legacy, like after one game. But I bought this paddle based on this and another review. My Legacy just went bad and although I ordered another I also bought this.

I can’t believe gearbox didn’t give a code for pbstudio. I would think the hype around this paddle is primarily due to Chris Teasing it. Based on the comments in discord over the past few weeks I would think this has been the number 1 paddle being discussed and asked about in messages by far. Thanks for the review Chris. $275 feels like a significant outlay for my current skill level, especially if it ends up being challenged and the production version isn’t as hot as the demo you obviously got. It feels like a very odd rollout strategy, and I will hold off on seeing what happens with pro games. No point in dialing in a paddle that is illegal, or gets reformulated very quickly. But if it somehow is legal with MLP onsite deflection testing, it sounds like it is worth buying one ;)
Great video. I would love to see a overlay video of different spin rates. Different curve and dip patterns would be nice to see as spin rates increase. I bought the power fusion and love it, I am 70 and needed more power.
Great video (as usual). And this paddle really is a beast! I started watching this video last night, but only got through half of it. This morning, one of my buddies showed up for our game with one of these (power) paddles. As our day started, my partner (who usually takes great pleasure from tagging other players) got tagged five times in the very first game alone (by the player with this new Gearbox). I just finished watching the rest of this video and had to laugh at you tagging your opponents. Let's just say that he was very pleased with his new paddle (especially since he sponsored by Gearbox).
Hey Chis, I think you're on something new here. Rebound time could be the new measurement to be added to the paddle evaluation spreadsheet. A fraction of a second is a big deal to be able to react to the coming ball.
I love my CRBN 1x. I don’t even think of any other paddle for doubles. It is indestructible and still has significant spin after 6 months and the power is acceptable. But! I’ve been wanting more power for singles. Sounds like the elongated power version is the answer. I’m salivating after hearing you say it’s terrifying when a overhead goes up. 😊. As always, thanks for the review. You are the one I turn to when I am considering a new paddle.
After having an opportunity to play with a Pro Power this morning I think the hype is over the top. No way is this a game changer that could be banned. The power is not that significant in my opinion. I was surprised that the muffled sound off the paddle did in fact bother me. I wasn’t expecting that. I continue my search for the perfect paddle. 😂

Outstanding video Chris. One unanswered question is -- if all these are 14mm thickness construction, what internal differences distinguish the power and control models for each shape variant?

I have seen interviews with Rafa (the owner of Gearbox) where he said that the line that you see around the perimeter is not an edge guard,. He said that it is just paint and the line that you see is where they mask it off. Also, it seems like calling the face "raw carbon" is a bit misleading. It's raw carbon covered in resin. Got the power and I could NOT for the life of me dial in on the power. Got the control and fell in love with pickleball again, LMFAO. I can definitely generate my own power but I just felt that the pro power was just too much that it scared me.
Like you said, the Control has been effortless! The fusion takes some time to get used to coming from an elongated, but just insane the confidence they bring.
I’ve been playing Gearbox since day 1, and this paddle is subpar compared to my other paddles (CX14, CX14e, CX11). I bought the Pro Series the day it released, and within a week I had to get rid of it. I’m not bashing Gearbox as I stand by my other paddles, and all I can think of is that somehow the paddle I received was broken. Waiting for someone in my group to get one so I can try it again.
I think the gearbox pro power elongated paddle is a great paddle. My thoughts on the Gearbox elongated pro power pickleball paddle. The Gearbox elongated pro power pickleball paddle is a power paddles and if you want better control of a power paddle then you need to add weight around the whole pickleball paddle which made mine a power paddle and a control paddle. I added 11 three ounce stripes around my pro power paddle. Also the reason for adding weights to ANY paddle is so that the paddle does not seem lighter than the pickleball itself when hitting or striking the pickleball. which without weights makes ANY paddle harder to control. I prefer to use any paddle that is not dominated by the pickleball itself when striking the pickleball which is why it is good to add weights to any and all paddles. and adding weights around the paddle also increases the sweep spot of the paddle.
Since the ball is travelling faster does that mean I will hit more out than I already do? LOL For every plus there is a minus. But I love your videos ! Keep up the great work!
Hi. Could you make a comparison/review between Gearbox Pro Power and Gearbox CX11E Power? Which is a better paddle in terms of power, control, feel, speed, etc ? Hope to hear from you soon. God Bless.
In my opinion, if gearbox wasn’t going to add any more to the width of the paddle, they should’ve added to the length of the handle itself. It’d be like the selkirk invikta to the selkirk mach6. Still, I hope they come out with a standard, quadraform shape of the pro in the future.
Oh man, Chris, the timing of your video couldn’t be better! Yesterday, due to flying from CA to MI all day, i was playing phone tag with Brandon at Gearbox who was calling to arrange for my payment of my Pro pre-orders! I was planning to go with the Fusion control and power because I’ve been loving my CX14H red (the blue ultimate was too heavy), especially in hand battles and resets. Like you, swing weight and hand speed is important to me (tried the Legacy and felt like i lagged a bit in hand battles). But after watching this video, I’m re-considering my order and changing it to the power elongated. Was planning to get 2 paddles so might now get the Elongated power and control to compare. Or should I get the power in both elongated and control???? Thanks again!!! Calling Brandon later this morning.
At 275 I'll wait and stick with my DBD as control and fast hands at the net are more important. I figure a lot of time will be needed for this power paddle to adjust too. Wouldn't mind trying it at some point this winter tho! I've moved away from power over the past 6 months and it's not about the money. Same reason I like the GRUVN MUVN 13S, control, speed, swing weight.
Have you heard reports of anyone having ‘air bubbles’ in there paddle? I got mine this weekend and it seems to have some. It was super disappointing considering I waited 7 weeks to get it.
@@steve-94951 Yeah I cannot get behind their choice. I'd much much rather have the stability of a higher twist weight paddle than the "manueverability" of a lower twist weight paddle. Twisting paddles just doesn't require much time/effort for a human hand, but a ball hit off center that changes the resulting shot angle even a little bit is a disaster.
That overlay video on your flick test is fantastic! Such a good way to show the velocity this paddle generates compared to normal paddles.

I prefer to use any paddle that is not dominated by the pickleball itself when striking the pickleball which is why it is good to add weights to any and all paddles. and adding weights around the paddle also increases the sweep spot of the paddle.
You heard it here first Chris prefers “faster hand speed”.
Since the ball is travelling faster does that mean I will hit more out than I already do? LOL For every plus there is a minus. But I love your videos ! Keep up the great work!
Where does he talk about the preferred lead setup for the elongated?
More power and pop than labs 002 or power air?
Chris what is your lead tape setup on the gearbox pro power???
How is the power compared to the black ace?
For pop, I think they are in a similar ball park. Overall power feels higher on the Gearbox Pro Power.
@@PickleballStudio thank you 🫡
On the overlay paddle test it is apparent that you do not follow through on your flick with the 6.0
That overlay vid was genius!
How does the power compare to the Black Ace?
Similar levels of pop, but higher power on overheads/groundstrokes on the Gearbox Pro Power
Hi. Could you make a comparison/review between Gearbox Pro Power and Gearbox CX11E Power? Which is a better paddle in terms of power, control, feel, speed, etc ? Hope to hear from you soon. God Bless.
How much lead tape did you add to the throat on the pro elongated
How many grams of lead tape did you add to the pro elongated version?
In my opinion, if gearbox wasn’t going to add any more to the width of the paddle, they should’ve added to the length of the handle itself. It’d be like the selkirk invikta to the selkirk mach6. Still, I hope they come out with a standard, quadraform shape of the pro in the future.
How much and where did you lead the Power Elongated? Thanks , great Vid!
the sound, the sound, it's the sound.
How much lead tape did you add to the bottom
i see the selkirk lux in the video.. will you be doing a video on that too??
Yup!
Cool overlay comparison
How does power and pop compare to the Legacy Pro? I suspect they are similar.
you should test it blindfolded bottom down and given 5 different paddles
Hi Chris, thanks so much for all your videos. Can you please do a review on A11N Zenith 16mm paddle(both C7 and C8)?
People are sleeping, was on a Perseus 16 and now cx14e ultimate power and I’m not switching back. The levels aren’t even close.
Is there any way your spreadsheet online can be downloaded ?
Have you heard reports of anyone having ‘air bubbles’ in there paddle? I got mine this weekend and it seems to have some. It was super disappointing considering I waited 7 weeks to get it.
Very weird that the shorter paddle didn't get wider than the longer one.
Apparently because they wanted to keep it "maneuverable" by keeping the twist weight down.
As Chris said this seems like a mistake
@@steve-94951 Yeah I cannot get behind their choice. I'd much much rather have the stability of a higher twist weight paddle than the "manueverability" of a lower twist weight paddle. Twisting paddles just doesn't require much time/effort for a human hand, but a ball hit off center that changes the resulting shot angle even a little bit is a disaster.
