I remember reading that those were sensor and com arrays and this ship was lightly armed with only phasers. It was meant as more as a survey vessel, not a weapon of war. Better shields than oberth but no torpedo. This is strange.
I remember hearing in that TNG episode that this Bozeman is a Soyuz class starship and this class hadn’t been in service for decades by the time of TNG. I think the Bozeman mentioned in Generations and First Contact was a different ship because I imagine that Starfleet would have decommissioned the Soyuz class Bozeman. It’s also really weird that the Soyuz model doesn’t have photon torpedoes 🖖
The Bozeman was a Miranda-class kitbash. There are several comments already that the turrets weren't weapons but were actually com arrays. I don't know the history well enough to debate that, so I won't dispute the technical specs. But if I remember my kitbash history correctly, the turrets built on the model were taken from an off-the-shelf Yamato model kit. They were then modified for the desired appearance.
If you take the register member the ship may have been launched before we first see a Miranda. Its always been debated if those were weapons or sensor arrays.
😳Crikey Captain.. I do like the USS Bozeman. I didn't even notice the turrets in the show, only the crash.. but if they went into the future, did they stay or went back, must have missed that.. Great battle Captain.. yes those blasts from the Bozeman were powerful... very nice.. I do remember the Bozeman named in the battle of sector 001.. wonder if was the same ship that came from the past, hmm .. First time seeing a Klingon ship with wings going up.. love the video!!!😊🖖
I was always under the impression that those were not turrets I was under the impression from other sites that those were some form of long-range sensor arrays and/or communication arrays but if in fact those are turrets makes it just as interesting a ship
Those are NOT Turrets at all! Turrets rotate 360 degrees for a full radius firing arc. Those are actually Pulsed Phaser Cannons! This is in fact in the Technical Manuals for TNG
I think those were supposed to be sensor arrays, not weapons. Incidentally, if you want to see the Bozeman's journey to the future from their perspective, read "Ship of the Line". It's one of the classics of the litverse era. We even find out that Frasier/Bateson was the first captain of the Enterprise-E (only during the beginning of its shakedown cruise, though).
I always thought that the Miranda class design meant it could be heavily upgraded to include multiple weapon emplacements, as well as the roll bar with the photon torpedo bays.
miranda is my all time favorite design and I do believe it to be a very versatile ship that can me modified for several different roles, i think that's why it still exists and they kept making them even into ds9 we see them with new registry numbers not 4 digit ones from 80 years past
Retro did you know the those so called turrets on the Bozeman are actually subspace transceivers in tng and was designed for the reconnaissance and intelligence gathering, of the Klingon Empire, and Romulan star Empire,
I feel it makes more sense for the Federation to try to see if they could make a ship that was utterly independent of supply lines with powerful energy weapons but one of the reasons it was made obsolete was the fact that her turrets either took too much power or just weren't effective enough to replace photon torpedoes.
The Bozeman has an impressive arsenal of weaponry, but it seems to lack aft mounted phasers or turrets, which puts it at a great disadvantage when dealing with more maneuverable opponents that can stay in the ship’s blind spot while still firing themselves.
It seemed like it could fire everywhere but directly backwards. And while the game doesn't show it, I got the impression that the Turrets were able to turn, and raise and lower their guns like a Battleship.
Nice Showcase! 😅 I always thought the Soyuz Class was an advanced sensor ship, hence why she was made obsolete. The version in the SFRD mod is of the school of thought that the Soyuz was a combat ship, which I can see if the sensor version was obsolete
I think the Bozeman does have torpedoes but not sure where they come out from. It would be odd not to arm a Federation ship like that and not give them photo torpedoes. I really liked seeing the Bozeman. Strangely enough I never built the model of the Bozeman. I know there's aftermarket parts for it...I might get them if I ever have my own money again. It is nice that the ship has those cool cannons instead of torpedoes. Not surprised you were able to destroy the Enterprise-A fairly quickly as well as the Klingon D6.
I feel like this ship is overpowered but I’m basing that on some of the books I’ve read. I know that they aren’t considered cannon but in “Ship of the line” it’s stated outright that the Enterprise was stronger than the Bozeman. That book started just before “Wrath of Kahn” and then picks up after the time jump. But none of this is real🤷🏼♂️
Great video. Im a little confused though. The Bozeman was a Soyuz class starship and those 'turrets' are actually external sensor modules in the TNG canon🤔. Granted would be cool if they were weapons but they arent unfortunately
Cannon/non cannon says the class was designed as a border patrol ship for the Klingon and romulans(presumably). Most likely as a “show of force” to prevent conflict.
I always thought they weren't weapons but additional long-range sensors and tractors as the vessel was tasked with border patrol, intelligence and survey? It certainly wouldn't compete with the Constitution-class for firepower. Many use the ST:TWOK as a reference for Miranda-class firepower but forget that it was the assumption of being friendly, slow reaction and inexperienced crew which dealt the initial incapacitation.
But those turrets failed: They never moved or elevated to fire (a limitation of the game you used, likely) forcing you to try and keep a head-on-collision with your target...
Those are communication/sensor arrays... Not guns. Now a Dominion War refit of this ship would have been EPIC. Quantum torpedo turrets, pulse phase cannons.
"one of the klingon wars" there were no such... There was a cold war for about 60 years. Also, as far as I am aware, those things were never intended to be weapons. They're sensor pods. Just like the turret looking thing on ships like the Freedom Class, or the greeblie junk seen on Centaur and Constellation classes.
Hey so I was just thinking you want a guest on your channel from an old school STBC multi clan member? I am so old school, would be interested in doing a little something mabe a few fun duels or coops or something? Shoot me a line and let me know, be happy to chill with you either way, what mods you running?
Shouldn't the D6 be from the early 23rd century and no match for the Soyuz class? I mean the D5 was top of the line in the 2250's and the D7 was top of the line on the 2260's......
Yea about "her" being at 001. Nope. A ship NAMED Bozeman was present, wich very well could have ben an Akira or Sabre. Also they droped that design and those mass of guns quiet fast sooo it didnt work. Also WTH is a D6 pls? They went from D4 to D7 instantly, nothing else. some fanmade designs, althou SUPPERIOR TO DISCOVERY MIND YOU, are just.... nope. Never existed NOR would be build. Also , just to REMEMBER YOU AND OTHERS : The D1 or 2 ENCOUNTERED BY ARCHER was ALREADY that sweet D4 and D7 design that later was upgraded to K'tinga
I'm sorry, I just gotta say it. It would've been awesome to see those turrets actually MOVE in order to cover some of those angles the D-6 was able to exploit. Because what's the point of calling them Turrets if they DO NOT MOVE AS TURRETS!?
ok wait a second.I thought the D7 was better than the D6, and the constitution slightly better than a D7?So why not go against something better than the D7 after spanking the Connie so easily?
The computer's strategy of pointing all the Bozeman's weapons away from the enemy was certainly a choice.
The Kuvah'magh is honored by your video, Retro Badger. Qapla'!
In the Destiny books, Captain Bateson was in command of the Sovereign-class USS Atlas.
I love the way this thing looks even when the episode first came out. But no torpedoes? I dont believe that for a second!
I remember reading that those were sensor and com arrays and this ship was lightly armed with only phasers. It was meant as more as a survey vessel, not a weapon of war. Better shields than oberth but no torpedo.
This is strange.
Yeah, the Bozeman was more akin to an electronic warfare vessel, not a front line combat ship.
@@IntergalacticDustBunny also Soyuz (presumably named after the Soviet spacecraft) would be a weird name for a combat ship. Science ship, yes.
I remember hearing in that TNG episode that this Bozeman is a Soyuz class starship and this class hadn’t been in service for decades by the time of TNG. The D6 is a hilarious kitbash of the D7. Just flip the aft area lol. Very appropriate actually.
The Ship :"Bozeman" is Top ( Design) ! 🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖. Top Video - Battle! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟.

The Bozeman in Kobayashi maru screwed up my pulse cannons and gave me torpedo launchers

with firepower like that it makes me want to use BSG Music and order "FULL POWER TO THE WEAPON GRID, STANDBY ENEMY SUPPRESSION BARRAGE"
I was always under the impression that those were not turrets I was under the impression from other sites that those were some form of long-range sensor arrays and/or communication arrays but if in fact those are turrets makes it just as interesting a ship
There's a TNG book featuring the Bozeman. "Ship of the line"
Bring more TMP ships please !,I love this type of ships very well armed and TMP Gold Era
There be many a TMP mod for BC, so very probable!😂
Put that up vs the Dominion bug ship.
IIRC those are sensor arrays. Not weapons. Don't get me wrong, I always hoped they were weapons.
The Bozeman was also mentioned in Star Trek Generations. It was forced to make a course correction due to the destruction of the Amargosa Star.
Cool! I didn’t know that, thanks for sharing 🖖
Nice catch! Yeah, in stellar cartography.
I've always thought the Bozeman at Sector 001 was a newer design, since no other Soyuz-class was in service for almost 90 years by that time.
Those are NOT Turrets at all! Turrets rotate 360 degrees for a full radius firing arc. Those are actually Pulsed Phaser Cannons! This is in fact in the Technical Manuals for TNG

No I didn’t know that. They look so much like weapons 😂
@@RetroBadgerGaming yes they do probably to intimidate the Klingons if they ever encountered it
Not a ship from Klingon Academy that I remember, but it is an interesting design.
ty for the video and LLAP!
EPIC, EPIC so Truly EPIC........
I had no idea Patrick Stewart did a cameo on Frasier.
I feel it makes more sense for the Federation to try to see if they could make a ship that was utterly independent of supply lines with powerful energy weapons but one of the reasons it was made obsolete was the fact that her turrets either took too much power or just weren't effective enough to replace photon torpedoes.
If the guns don't move they're not turrets. They're forward firing cannon emplacements that resemble old naval turrets.
The Bozeman has an impressive arsenal of weaponry, but it seems to lack aft mounted phasers or turrets, which puts it at a great disadvantage when dealing with more maneuverable opponents that can stay in the ship’s blind spot while still firing themselves.

You Know I actually Drew a Constellation Class Ship With Four Turrets and i'm impressed that there was a miranda with turrets
Constellation class teeny tiny dreadnought
Aside from the opening volley, the AI piloted Bozeman didn't even try. Otherwise, those turrets would tear you apart. 🙂
That was totally AMAZING the Bozeman's turrets are really cool
It’s such a cool looking ship. I remember seeing it in the TNG episode back in the day and being amazed at how menacing it looked. 🖖
The turrets look like matchsticks lol
"Oi! Matchstick Man!" ~ 11th Doctor 😀
Nice turrets...but they don't fire to the rear, do they?
Sorry to be so picky, but either the D6 shown here is flying upside down or someone forgot the warp engines are slung under not over the hull
They should make it so the turrets rotate to fire up and down aft and can elevate up and down
I'm fairly certain those were meant to be sensor antennas and not gun barrels, but whatever.
Nice Showcase! 😅

I didn't see any of the turrets move to stay on target. When they did fire, i too was reminded of the Defiant from DS9.
I dont think those were turrets. its cool though. i think the soyuz class was a medium frigate or used for border defense
I feel like this ship is overpowered but I’m basing that on some of the books I’ve read. D6 looks like someone just took a D7 and twisted the neck 180 degrees.
#upsidedownshipshullsmatter 😛
I expect the Bozeman has the best table fare in Starfleet. Captain Fraiser would expect nothing less.
I'm struggling to understand the purpose of turrets that don't move.
Very Romulan for a KLINGON ship?
1:45 No rear facing weapons‽
The D-6 should keep its nacelles protected, the Bozeman has a bit of a history with that
Can I ask where you're getting these ships? I have the latest available BC Remastered but don't have any of these
They are mostly all on gamefront. I believe this ship is in the queue and should appear in the next few days 🖖

Top and bottom section switch lol!
Yes definitely upside down! 😂
at least half upside down lol others right side up lol very twisted eh?! lol@@davidturner4024
Ummmm... its not a turret if it doesnt TURN my dude.....
That's one ugly Klingon ship. The Klingons would never put their nacelles up like that as it looks lane and leaves them venerable.
